Mr. William Curtis "Curt" Harris Jr., 48, of Newnan, Ga., formerly of Austell, Ga., died Monday, Feb. 17, 2003.

Visitation will be Wednesday, Feb. 19 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Davis-Struempf Funeral Home followed by a memorial service at 2 p.m. The Rev. Johnny Foster officiating.

Mr. Harris was born in Austell, Ga. July 24, 1954 to the late William Curtis Harris Sr. and Elsie Harris. He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Caron Benson Harris of Newnan; mother, Elsie Harris of Austell; sisters and brothers-in-law, Sylvia and Jimmy Baker of Douglasville, Ann and Gerald Harmon of Powder Springs; seven nieces, five great-nieces and four great-nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Calvary Children's Home, 1430 Lost Mountain Rd., Powder Springs, Ga. 03127.

She was born May 19, 1930 in Menlo, Ga. to the late George F. and Dora (Parris) King. She was a homemaker.

A funeral was at Higgins Hillcrest Chapel Tuesday, Feb. 18 at 4 p.m. Rev. Mark Anthony officiated.

The family was receiving friends Monday, Feb. 17 from 6-9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Surviving are husband, Mr. Clinton Otwell; son, R. B. (Butch) Patty of Centre, Ala.; daughters, Sandra Patty of Newnan, Georgia Mae Nations of Newnan, Shirley Thomas of Palmetto, Billie Ruth Algood of Newnan, Nikki McElveen of Newnan; brothers, George W. King of Newnan, Billy D. King of Rome, Henry Hugh King of Centre, Ala., Marvin W. King of Centre, Ala.; sisters, Dorothy Armour of Canton; Leither Jean Lanier of Fla., Evelyn Kobyra of Blairsville; nine grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Rosa Lee Overton, 72, of Sharpsburg, Ga., died Feb. 18, 2003 in Sharpsburg.

Mrs. Overton was born Jan. 15, 1931 in Randolph County, Ala. to Leonard Clifton and Sallie Summerville. She was the widow of Mack Riley Overton.

A funeral will be at McKoon Funeral Home chapel Thursday, Feb. 20 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Harry Gann officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Newnan.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday, Feb. 19 from 7-9 p.m.

Surviving are sons, Jerry and Kay Overton of Newnan and Terry and Mary Overton of Sharpsburg; daughter, Linda and Byron Griffith of Newnan; brothers, Charles Rudolph Clifton of Panacea, Fla., and Raleigh Clifton of Panacea, Fla.; granddaughter, Terri Lynn Williams of Villa Rica, Ga.; grandsons, Kenneth Russell Overton of Newnan, Jerry Duane Overton of Newnan, Jason Anthony Overton of Newnan, Timothy Allen Overton of Lithia Springs, Charles Andrew Willoughby Jr. of Newnan and Carlton Wesley Willoughby of Newnan.

Surviving are Lucy Schustikow; daughters, Andrea Bailey of St. Louis, MO, Scarlett Kolenc, Inkster, MI, Robbin St. Armour, Canton, MI, Connie Ferrell, Flovilla, Ga., Kathy Doyal, Forest Park; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

A funeral will be Wednesday, Feb. 19 at 2:30 p.m. in the chapel of Parrott Funeral Home, Father John Walsh officiating. Burial will be in Sharon Memorial Gardens.

The family was receiving friends Tuesday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Estelle (Oliver) Dutton, 83, of Newnan, Ga., died Friday, Feb. 14, 2003 at Southwest Christian Hospice in Union City, Ga.

She was born April 3, 1919, daughter of Eugene and Lessie Jordan Oliver. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey Lee Dutton Sr. She was a member of Royal Baptist Church.

Surviving are daughters, Nadine Gaddy and Diane Barnwell; son, Harvey L. Dutton Jr.; eight grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren.

The family was receiving friends 1-3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 16.

A funeral was at McKoon Funeral Home chapel 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 16. Dr. Bob Martin and Rev. Paul Dennis officiaited. Burial was in Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Newnan.

The family is receiving friends Tuesday, Feb. 18 from 5-7 p.m. at McKoon Funeral Home.

Mrs. Grantham was born in Newnan July 27, 1916. She was the widow of the late A J. Grantham.

She was born Feb. 1, 1931 in Heard County to the late Joe and Cindy (Doyd) Dean. She was a homemaker and is preceded in death by her husband, William Yearwood.

A funeral will be at Higgins Hillcrest Chapel in Newnan Wednesday, Feb. 19 at 2 p.m. with Rev. David Arrington officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Newnan.

Mrs. Zell Tarrance Craft, 88, of Hogansville, died Saturday, Feb. 15, 2003, at West Georgia Medical Center in LaGrange.

Mrs. Craft was born Sept. 8, 1914, in Colbert County, Ala., to the late James and Ellen Martin Tarrance. She had lived in Hogansville since 1939, was a a member of St. James United Methodist Church in Hogansville, and retired from Uniroyal, Inc., after 41 years of service. She was the wife of the late Bryant Craft.

A funeral will be held Monday, Feb. 17, 2003, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of the Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Rev. Jerry Eley will officiate, and burial will be in Myrtle Hill Cemetery in Hogansville.

Serving as pallbearers will be David Dodson, Ronnie Boswell, Randall Duncan, Howard Wilson, Pete Oliver, and Chris Windsor.

Mrs. Ora Butler Driver, 86, of LaGrange and formerly of Hogansville, died Saturday, Feb. 15, 2003, at Hospice LaGrange.

Mrs. Driver was born March 22, 1916, in Randolph County, Ala., to the late Enoch Rooker Butler and the late Mae Annie Pearl Kittle Butler. Before moving to Troup County over 40 years ago, she lived in Heard County. A member of Springhill Baptist Church, she was preceded in death by her husband, Garfield Driver, and two sons, J.R. "Buck" Driver and Bobby Driver.

A funeral will be held Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2003, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of the Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Rev. Mark Peak will officiate and burial will be in Myrtle Hill Cemetery in Hogansville.

Surviving are her sons, Harlis Driver and Jimmy Driver of LaGrange, Billy Driver of Five Points, Ala., Larry Driver of Mobile, Ala., and Roger Driver of Luthersville; sisters Ary Skinner of Franklin, Cassie Bowen of Graham, Ala., and Judy Smartt of Tucker; brother Denson Butler of Franklin; 17 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.

Miss Verma E. Harris
Miss Verma E. Harris, 91, of Hogansville, died Saturday, Feb. 15, 2003, at West Georgia Medical Center in LaGrange.

Miss Harris was born Aug. 25, 1911, in Heard County to the late William Edward Harris and the late Martha Eleanor Norwood Harris. She lived in Hogansville most of her life, was a member of Highland Baptist Church in Hogansville, and was retired from the Hillside Division of Milliken and Company in LaGrange.

A funeral will be held Monday, Feb. 17, 2003, at 4 p.m. in the chapel of the Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. Dr. Bob Atkins will officiate and burial will be in Myrtle Hill Cemetery.

Survivors include five nieces, Nancy Gillam of West Point, Eleanor Maxham of Lynchburg, Va., Frances Stanford of Pine Mountain, Mary Eleanor Robinson of LaGrange, and Margaret Orr of Newnan; and a number of great nieces and nephews.

Mr. Daniel W. Hughes of Fayetteville and formerly of Forest Park, died Friday, Feb. 14, 2003.

Mr. Hughes was a member of the Forest Park Assembly of God and the Forest Park Masonic Lodge.

A funeral will be held Monday, Feb. 17, 2003, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Carl J. Mowell and Son Funeral Home in Fayetteville. Minister Russ Taylor will officiate, and burial will be in Camp Memorial Park.

Mr. James T. "Cow Daddy" Richardson, 70, of Chester, died Friday, Feb. 14, 2003, at his home.

Mr. Richardson served in the U.S. Army, and was a retired auto-body mechanic.

A funeral will be held Monday, Feb. 17, 2003, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of McKoon Funeral Home. The Rev. Charles W. Chapman will officiate, and burial will be in the Luthersville Cemetery.

Mrs. Ola Mae Furlow Sims, 82, of LaGrange, died Saturday, Feb. 15, 2003, at Twin Fountains Home in LaGrange.

Mrs. Sims was born March 30, 1920, in Coweta County, to the late Alvin and Beulah Furlow. She lived in Troup County most of her life, was a member of the Baptist church, and had been employed at West Point Pepperell Manufacturing Company In LaGrange. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin Sims, son John Alvin Sims, and daughter Nellie Edwards.

A funeral will be held Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2003, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of the Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Rev. R.C. Prescott will officiate, and burial will be in Myrtle Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday, Feb. 17.

Surviving are her daughter, Beulah Cato; and son and daughter-in-law Douglas and Sandy Sims, all of LaGrange; nine grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

Mrs. Helen Ransby Potts
Funeral services for Mrs. Helen Ransby Potts, of Newnan, will be today at 3 p.m. at Russell Temple A. M. E. Church, with Rev. Clinton Melson officiating and assisted by Rev. J. W. Russell Sr., Rev. Willie Johnson and other ministers. Interment will be at Eastview Cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandsons, great grandsons and nephews.

Mrs. Potts was born in Heard County on May 5, 1908, to the late Mr. and Mrs. Bill and Beaulah Ransby. She was the second of nine siblings. She survived all but the youngest sister, Mrs. Winnie White of Cincinnati, Ohio.

She joined The Bethel Heard Baptist Church as a child, and later married the late Quillian Potts. After moving to College Park, she joined The Friendship Baptist Church of College Park. Mrs. Potts served faithfully on the Mother Board until her health failed. She returned to Newnan to live with her daughter and son-in-law in 1993.

Survivors include her daughter, Mrs. Minnie Vaughn and son-in-law, Rev. Grady B. Vaughn; four grand children, Bobby Vaughn of Macon, Larry (Patricia) Vaughn of East Point, Mary (Larry) Paige of Fairburn and Brenda Griffin of Newnan; seven great grandchildren, Gerald (Lisa) Vaughn, Philip (Tina) Vaughn, Charlotte Vaughn, Alison Griffin, Samantha Vaughn, Max Paige and Marlon Paige; four great-great grand children, Jeremy Vaughn, LaShae Vaughn, Ashton Vaughn and Jeneche Vaughn; two brothers-in-law, Charles Potts of Franklin and Albert Potts of Atlanta; three sisters-in-law, Hazel Geter and Willie Potts of Newnan, Hilda Turner of Franklin and Lorena Potts of Carrollton; several nieces and nephews; and two special friends, Mrs. Eunice Geter and Mrs. Mary Braswell of College Park.

Mrs. Lillian Louise Jewell died Feb. 14, 2003 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainsville, Ga. Memorial services will be at a later date.

Mrs. Alma V. Wilson, 91, of Beaulieu Convalescent Center, died Friday, Feb. 14, 2003.

She was born in Coweta County on Oct. 14, 1911. She was a retired textile worker.

Mrs. Wilson was preceded in death by her husband, Martin Luther Wilson; a son, John Wesley Wilson; her father, John A. Couch; and her mother, Harriett A. Lloyd.

Mrs. Wilson is survived by her three daughters, Bernice Quick of Senoia, Ellen Crawford Bryan of Sharpsburg and Reba Wilson of Newnan; 14 grandchildren; 9 step-grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; and 2 great great grandchildren.

Visitation was Saturday, Feb. 15, 2003, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at McKoon Funeral Home. Funeral services will be today at 1:30 p.m. at McKoon Funeral Home, with Roger Robinson officiating. Burial will be at Senoia City Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Wayne Quick, Jimmy Quick, Mike Wilson, Marvin Wilson, Jerry Crawford, Randy Crawford, Bobby Joe Wilson, Scott Crawford and David Wilson.

Mr. Douglas Joseph Begley
Mr. Douglas Joseph Begley, 47, of Newnan, Ga., died Saturday, Feb. 8, 2003.

Mr. Begley was born to Joseph and Elizabeth Begley in 1955 in Hialeah, Fla. He attended the University of Oklahoma and the University of Miami before joining Southern Bell Telephone in Miami, Fla. In 1985 he transferred to the Newnan area and worked as a Service Technician. His favorite pastimes included snorkeling, cruising and hunting. Mr. Begley will be remembered for his great sense of humor, a sensitive and generous heart, and his great love for people. He attended the Newnan Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness.

Surviving are his wife of 20 years, Mrs. Letty M. Begley; daughter, Vanessa Begley of Newnan; mother, Mrs. Elizabeth Dan of Wesley Chapel, Fla.; brother, Wayne Begley and his wife Donna of San Jose, California; sister, Mary Annette Winkel and her husband Herb of Lake Wales, Fla.; several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 15.

A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 15 with Mr. Robert Sparrow officiating.
