Mr. Terrell Eugene Cooper
Mr. Terrell Eugene Cooper, 63, died of cancer on Saturday, March 1, 2003, at his home.

Mr. Cooper was born Jan. 25, 1940, in Fitzgerald, Ben Hill County, Ga., to Flossie Irene DeLoach Cooper and the late Colvin Eugene Cooper. He served in the U.S. Navy, just prior to the Bay of Pigs invasion. Mr. Cooper was an independent manufacturer's representative and had been associated with the clothing industry, including Bowden Manufacturing Company.

A funeral will be held Tuesday, March 4, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of McKoon Funeral Home. The Revs. Sheila Crowe and Jim Hearn will officiate, and burial will be in Whitesburg Cemetery. The family will receive visitors on Monday evening from 6 to 9.

Serving as pallbearers will be Joe Woodie, Ben Porter, Ray Thompson, Jerry Reeves, Ben Skipper, and Wyndel Carnes. Honorary pallbearers will be Charlie Mansour, Bob Stallings, Tommy Smith, Jerry Wright, Bob Rowland, Greg Frazier, Harry Bowen, Jerry Allen, and Eddie Deese.

Memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Copper's memory to the Whitesburg United Methodist Church, PO Box 361, Whitesburg, Ga., 30185.

Surviving are his mother, Flossie Irene DeLoach Cooper; wife, Camilla Stevens-Cooper of Whitesburg; children Tracy Lynn Cooper of Bremen, Amy Elizabeth Cooper Kirkland and her husband Tony of Columbus, and Russell Eugene Cooper and his wife Natasha of Waco; grandchildren Brooke McDurmon, Megan McDurmon, Brianna Cooper, Brock Cooper, and Jack Kirkland; sister Lorene Hoffman and her husband Dale of Albany; nieces and nephews.

Mr. Frederick (Fred) Anthony Couvillion Jr.
Mr. Frederick (Fred) Anthony Couvillion Jr., 39, of Senoia, Ga., died March 2, 2003 at Newnan Hospital West.

He was born June 10, 1963 in New Orleans, LA. He was an electrician with IBEW Local 613 and coached Little League baseball in Senoia.

A funeral will be at Higgins Hillcrest Chapel Tuesday, March 4 at 2 p.m. Burial will be in Haralson Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family was receiving friends Monday, March 3 from 6-9 p.m. at Higgins Hillcrest Chapel.

Surviving are his wife, Yvette S. Couvillion, Senoia; father, Frederick A. Couvillion Sr., Palmetto; mother, Charlotte Couvillion, Haralson; sons, Matthew Gene Stephens, Senoia, Justin Kyle Couvillion, Senoia, Christopher Daniel Stephens, Buford; brothers, Davis Couvillion, Palmetto; Craig Couvillion, Senoia; grandparents, Kirby and Ila Couvillion, Louisiana; nieces and nephews.

Higgins Hillcrest Chapel, Newnan, Ga.

Mrs. Margaret Slaughter Reese
Mrs. Margaret Slaughter Reese of Palmetto, Ga., daughter of the late Rev. and Mrs. W. F. Slaughter (Bertha), an 80-year member of Mt. Pleasent A.M.E. Church in Palmetto, Ga., and widow of Mr. Eugene Reese died Sunday, March 2, 2003.

Memorial services for Mr. Otis Stewart will be held Thursday, March 6, 2003 at 11 a.m. in the William C. Doyles Veteran Cemetery with a military ceremony in Wrightstoan, New Jersey.

Surviving are local mother, Mrs. Cleola Gibson; sister, Ms. Henri Jean Stewart and brothers, Mr. Rubin Bibson and Mr. and Mrs. Curtis Gibson.

Mr. William Charles Walthall Sr.
Mr. William Charles Walthall Sr. of Detroit, Michigan, formerly of Newnan, died Feb. 21, 2003.

A funeral was held March 1 at 1 p.m. at the China Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Turin, Ga. Rev. Harold V. Kilgour II delivered the eulogy, assisted by other ministers. Burial was in Eastview Cemetery. Family and friends served as pallbearers.

Mr. Walthall was born to Charlie A. and Julia Mae Walthall March 28, 1926 in Newnan. He graduated from Newnan High School and later joined the Navy during World War II. He was employed at Ford Motor Company in 1952. He was an usher at Tabernacle Baptist Church.

A brother, Hubert; and child, Lorraine preceded him in death.

Surviving are his wife, Gracie; brothers, Richard T., Alonzo; children, Wilhelmina (Paul), Rene, Glenda (Steve), William Jr. (Cynthia); 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and a host of other family and friends; and Mary Lillian Walthall.

Mr. Mark Donald Longenecker
Mr. Mark Donald Longenecker, 47, of Newnan, died Thursday, Feb. 27, 2003, at his home.

Mr. Longenecker was born in Canton, Ohio, in 1955, to Lionel and Charlene Longenecker. He grew up in Canton and graduated from Lincoln High School. Mr. Longenecker loved airplanes and as a child dreamed of working on them. After high school, he attended the James T. Baker School of Aviation in Miami, Fla. He worked for Batch Aircraft Services before joining Delta in 1990. At Delta, he was the lead mechanic of the trouble-shooting crew that diagnosed and repaired jet engines. Mr. Longenecker's job took him all over the world, including Russia, Japan, and Italy. Airplanes were both his job and his hobby, and he was always reading and studying about jet engine repair. Mr. Longenecker was a loving husband and father and will be remembered for his wit, intelligence, and wonderful sense of humor. He was preceded in death by his father, Lionel Longenecker.

A funeral will be held Wednesday, March 5, 2003, in Erie, Penn., with burial at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Erie.

Surviving are his wife, Brynn Longenecker; his sons Mark Longenecker and Steven Longenecker of Newnan and Scott Sontheimer of Erie; daughters Tia Longenecker, Brooke Sontheimer and Mandy Sontheimer, all of Newnan; his mother, Charlene Poulos and her husband, John, of Ocala, Fla.; brothers Scott and Kurt Longenecker of Canton; grandchildren Madison and Zach; several nieces and nephews; and many friends.

Mr. Charlie Floyd Culpepper, Jr.

Mr. Culpepper Jr., 46, of Franklin, died Thursday, Feb. 27, 2003 in Cataula. Memorial services will be held at 4:30 p.m. today at the Cataula Congregation of Jehovah's witnesses, 9947 Veterans Parkway, Columbus, GA.

Mr. Culpepper was born Feb. 15, 1957 in Columbus, the son of Annie Allen Culpepper and Charlie F. Culpepper, Sr. He was the owner and operator of Southeastern Window Cleaning, and was a member of the Franklin Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses.

Mr. Culpepper was preceded in death by a sister, Kim C. Robinson. Survivors other than his parents include his wife, Brenda Norman Culpepper of Franklin; a maternal grandmother, Obera Allen of Comer, GA; three sons, Wesley Culpepper and Timothy Allen both of Newnan, and Brian Culpepper; one sister, Lynn Jeffries of Box Springs, GA; one brother, Steven L. Culpepper of Columbus, and one granddaughter, Kourtney Allen of Newnan.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mr. Culpepper may be to the Kingdom Hall Building Fund.

Mr. Ervin Powell
Deacon Ervin Powell died on Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2003 at Newnan Hospital East. Family may be contacted at the home of his niece Mr. and Mrs. Jasper Gibbs (Juanita) 7 Walker St. Newnan.

Funeral Service will be held on Monday, March 3, 2003, at 1 p.m. from the Mt. Vernon Baptist Church, with Rev. Phillip Carr officiating and assisted by Rev. J. T. Coleman. The body will lie in state at the church from 11:30 a.m. until the hour of the service. Burial will be in the Sunset Cemetery. Pallbearers will be nephews. Honorary pallbearers will be the Deacon Board of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church. Flowers bearers will be nieces. Honorary flower bearers will be the Mother Board of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church.

On the day of the service the cortege will assemble at the above address at noon.

Mr. Powell was born the youngest of twelve children to the late Wilson and Winnie Powell. Ten siblings preceded him in death.

Ervin served in the military and fought in World War II. After serving in the military, he returned to Newnan and joined Mount Vernon Baptist Church where he served faithfully and became a member of the Deacon Board until his health began to fail. In later years he was joined in holy matrimony to the late Rosa Pearl Powell who also preceded him in death. He was employed as an orderly at Coweta General Hospital (Newnan West) until his retired, and he was employed at Kessler's Department Store for many years. Deacon Powell was a devout Christian with morals and values.

Survivors include a brother, Deacon Edward Powell; devoted nieces, nephews, friends, neighbors, and relatives to cherish his memories.Sellers-Smith Funeral Home, Inc.

Mrs. Kathryn Lanelle Neely
Kathryn Lanelle ('Miss' Nell) Neely died on Feb. 28, 2003 at Beaulieu Nursing Home.

A funeral will be held at Turin United Methodist Church in Turin, GA. today at 3 p.m. . The Reverend Griff Jones will officiate. Burial will be in the Sharpsburg Baptist Church cemetery.

'Miss" Nell was born April 2, and is survived by her sister, Madeline Deaton; three children, Frank Neely and Kathy Humphrey of Sharpsburg, and John Neely of Greenville, as well as six grandchildren and one great grandchild.

'Miss' Nell was retired from First Union Bank in Newnan and was a long-time member of the Turin United Methodist Church. Mrs. Neely will be remembered by her many friends as a wonderful seamstress and cook who had a lively sense of humor. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Mrs. Rosa Cottingham Walker, 95, of Hogansville, died Friday, Feb. 28, 2003, at Hospice LaGrange.

The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. today in the Chapel of the Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hoganville. The Reverend David Pickard will officiate and interment will be in Myrtle Hill Cemetery in Hogansville.

Pallbearers will be Ralph Cottingham, Edward Cottingham, Gordon Cottingham, Bobby Cottingham, Mark Cottingham, Wayne Cottingham, and Jim Cottingham.

Mrs. Walker was born Oct. 6, 1907, in Opelika, Alabama, daughter of the late Marcus and Mamie Cantaleau Cottingham. She had lived in Hogansville over fifty years and was retired from Uniroyal, Inc. She was a member of St. James United Methodist Church and the Hogansville Senior Center.

Survivors include a granddaughter, Debra Echols of Hogansville; two grandsons and their wives, Darrell and Trish Flowers of LaGrange and Terry and Janetha Jones of Conyers; her daughter-in-law, Edna Flowers of Hogansville; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Houston Walker; her daughter, Dorothy Flowers; her son, Charles Flowers; and a grandson, Millard Jones.

Mr. John Anthony Cembrock, 65, of Sharpsburg, Ga., died Feb. 27, 2003.

He was born July 27, 1937.

A funeral will be held in the chapel of Carl J. Mowell and Son Funeral Home Monday, March 3 at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Westminster Memorial Gardens in Peachtree City, Ga. Father John Walsh will officiate.

Surviving are his wife, Judy Cembrock of Sharpsburg, Ga.; son, John and Jenny Cembrock of Stockbridge; daughter, Janine Cembrock of Smyrna, Ga.; grandson, Jacob Cembrock; father, John and Eleanor Cembrock of Wilkesbarre, PA.

Mr. Lewis Condor
Mr. Lewis Condor, 88, of Newnan, Ga., died Feb. 27, 2003 at his residence.

He was born October 23, 1914 in Fulton County, Ga. to the late Arthur P. and Claramond (Camp) Condor.

Mr. Condor lived in Chattanooga, Tenn., for many years where he was a distributor for Pure Oil Petroleum Co. He worked for Lockheed Aircraft during World War II after he was unable to serve in the military. He was a member of Moreland Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Parks Condor.

A funeral will be at Higgins Hillcrest Chapel Saturday, March 1 at 2 p.m. The Rev. Jerry Eley will officiate. Burial will be in Floral Hills Cemetery in Palmetto, Ga.

The family was receiving friends at the funeral home Friday, Feb. 28 from 5-7 p.m.

Surviving are nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Willie Earl Hendrix Condor
Mrs. Willie Earl Hendrix Condor, 85, of Newnan, died Feb. 27, 2003 at her residence.

Mrs. Condor was born May 9, 1917 in Meriwether County to the late Willie Noah and Essie (McGuirk) Malcolm. She was a beautician and member of Moreland Baptist Church.

A funeral will be at Higgins Hillcrest Chapel Saturday, March 1 at 2 p.m. The Rev. Jerry Eley will officiate. Burial will be in Southview Cemetery in Moreland, Ga.

The family will receive friends Friday, Feb. 28 from 5-7 p.m. at Higgins Hillcrest Chapel.

Surviving are daughters, Mary Ann and Eddie Hall of Tampa, Fla., Pat and Buddy Puckett of Moreland; sister, Thelma East of Newnan; four grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren.

Mr. W. Hugh Johnson, 83, of Grantville, Ga., died Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2003 at Morton Plant Hospital in Clearwater, Florida.

A funeral will be 3 p.m. Sunday, March 2, in the chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Rev. Ellis Freeman, the Rev. Darris Baker and the Rev. Timothy McDowell will officiate, and burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Newnan.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home 6-8 p.m. Saturday.

Mr. Johnson was born Nov. 16, 1919 in Newnan, son of the late William Mercer Johnson and the late Mary Buchanan Johnson. A veteran of World War Two, he served with the U.S. Army in North Africa and Italy. He retired as a district manager for Gulf Life Insurance Company after 36 years of service and also retired from South Fulton Hospital in East Point. He was a devoted member of the First United Methodist Church of Grantville and had served the community by working with the Meals on Wheels program. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and friend.

Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Mrs. Mary Graham Johnson of Grantville; son and daughter-in-law, William Randall and Linda Johnson of Jonesboro; sister and brother-in-law, Mary Ann and Arne Anderson of McCormick, S.C.; two grandchildren, William Todd Johnson of Stockbridge and Kimberly Ann McGrath and her husband Lee of Easley, S.C.; many special nieces, nephews and friends.

He was born August 10, 1934 in Troup County, Ga.

Mr. Chester (Jim) Bryant, 93, of Grantville, Ga., died Tuesday, April 29, 2003 at Beaulieu Convalescent Center in Newnan.

A funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday, May 1 in the chapel of the Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Rev. Ellis Freeman will officiate, and burial will be in Myrtle Hill Cemetery in Hogansville.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, April 30.

Mr. Bryant was born July 21, 1909 in Haralson County, Ga., son of the late Walter and Ida Vivian Couch Bryant. A resident of Coweta County since 1912, he was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Grantville and was a lifetime member of Bingham Masonic Lodge 54 in Moreland. He retired from Grantville Mills; and along with his brother, he operated Bryant Brothers Hardward in Grantville and later operated Bryant Nursery.

Surviving are daughter and son-in-law, Vivian and Charles Lee of LaGrange; two sons and daughters-in-law, Chet and Brenda Bryant of Dunwoody and James and Elizabeth Bryant of Waco, Texas; ten grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Alma Gill Bryant, and a son, Lewis G. (Buddy) Bryant.

Mr. Jerald Lee Connally
Mr. Jerald Lee Connally, 69, of Newnan, Ga., died Monday, April 28, 2003.

He was born December 25, 1933 in Fayette County to the late Raymond and Hattie Brown Connally.

Mr. Connally retired from AT&T as a supervisor. He was an active member of the White Oak Golden K Kiwanis Club, the Senior Friends, the Peachtree City Pioneers and AARP. He volunteered with the Red Cross Disaster Relief team and the American Cancer Society. Nine years ago he founded the Georgia Travelers and served as president for a number of years. An avid traveler, he visited more than 49 countries on his many trips.

A funeral will be Thursday, May 1 at 1 p.m. in the sanctuary of First Baptist Church in Newnan. Dr. Gene Tyre and Rev. Frank Powers will officiate. Burial will be in Westview Cemetery in Atlanta. The family will receive friends Wednesday, April 30, from 5-8 p.m. at McKoon Funeral Home.

Surviving are daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Young Longino of Newnan; very special friend, Doris Bass; grandsons, Richard and Michael Longino; brother, Robert Connally of Kennesaw, Ga.; two nieces.
