Mrs. Velma Lucille Woods
Mrs. Velma Lucille Woods of Macon, Ga., formerly of Coweta County, Ga., died Dec. 12, 2003.

She is survived by nieces Maryln Hopkins of Lawrenceville, Cheryl Meeks of Whitesburg and Arlene Christopher of Douglasville.

Graveside services will be held noon Saturday at Oak Hill Cemetery in Newnan.

Family and friends are asked to gather prior to the service at Higgins Hillcrest Chapel, Newnan, Ga.

Mr. William Curtis Humphreys Sr.
Mr. William Curtis Humphreys Sr., 86, of Newnan, Ga., died Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2003 at his residence. He was born June 28, 1917, in Nashville, Ga. son of the late Francis Humphreys and Dolly Naomi Chisolm Humphreys. He was a retired tool and dye maker and also a veteran of the United States Army.

Surviving are his wife, Esther Barker Humphreys of Newnan; sons, William Curtis Humphreys Jr. of Newnan and Kenneth and his wife Bernice Humphreys of Newnan; grandson, Charlie Humphreys; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Margaret Wright of Valdosta, Ga. and Beth Hall of Donaldsonville, Ga.

Arrangements are being handled by McKoon Funeral Home, 38 Jackson St., Newnan, Ga., where the family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 12. Funeral service will be at graveside in Oak Hill Cemetery 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 13 with Brother Paul Stitcher and Rev. Jan Tolbert officiating.

Mr. James O. Maddox
Mr. James O. Maddox, 71, of Newnan, Ga., died Thursday, Dec. 11, 2003 at Southwest Christian Hospice in Union City, Ga. He was a member of the Higgston Baptist Church in Higgston, Ga. He was a farmer most of his life.

Surviving are his sister, Margaret and her husband, Dr. O. Gene Tyre of Newnan, Ga.; niece, Jennie Tyre of Newnan, Ga.; great-nephew, Mihai Tyre of Newnan, Ga.

Mrs. Blanche Idella (McMichael) Phillips
Mrs. Blanche Idella (McMichael) Phillips, 92, of Newnan, Ga., died Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2003 at Hospice LaGrange in LaGrange, Ga.

She was born near Raymond in Coweta County August 29, 1911, the daughter of the late Ples and Milor Exor (Minix) McMichael. She was a member of Whitesburg Christian Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Horace Phillips.

Surviving are daughter, Joyce (Phillips) Goodrow of Mobile, Ala.; son, Larry Phillips of Newnan, Ga.; three sisters, Letha McGraw of East Point, Ga., Helen Steele of Hapeville, Ga. and Ruth Gilmer of Smyrna Beach, Fla; brother, Edward McMichael of Gay, Ga.; five grandchildren.

Mrs. Mildred Hazel (Kelley) Wimberly
Mrs. Mildred Hazel (Kelley) Wimberly, 78, of Covington, Ga., died Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2003 at Newton General in Covington, Ga. She was born Jan. 19, 1925 in Carroll County, Ga., daughter of the late Carl Gordon Kelley and Sarah Murphy Kelley. She retired from First National Bank of Florida and moved back to Coweta County. She was a member of Arnco Baptist Church and also served as church clerk.

Surviving are son, Charles M. Yarbrough of Covington, Ga.; three sisters, Sybil Kelley Camp of Jefferson, Ga.; Barbara Ann Jones of Sharpsburg, Ga., and Nancy Jean Higginbottam of Raeford, N.C.; brother, Elliott Kelley of Newnan, Ga.; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Mr. Thomas Jones Glover, Jr.
Mr. Thomas Jones Glover, Jr. died at Newnan Hospital, Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2003 after a sudden illness. A native of Newnan, Ga. Mr. Glover was 68 years old.

Son of the late Thomas Jones Glover and Lala Pate Glover, Mr. Glover was in the U.S. Army and attended Mercer University as well as West Georgia College. He was a member of Central Baptist Church of Newnan.

Mr. Glover was active in running the business of Glover Insurance Agency. A creative person, he was an accomplished musician, well known for playing the piano and singing in various venues in the area. He was also known for his painting and for participation in little theatre productions. Coaching youth soccer, Mr. Glover had great civic pride and was an active member of the Newnan-Coweta Historical Society, the Jaycees and of the Elks Club of Newnan. A Southern gentleman, he was beloved by all he knew him; a natural philanthropist he never met a stranger.

He is survived by his wife, Anne Sewell Glover and two children, Lynda Glover Burgy of Tequesta, Fla. and Thomas Jones Glover III of Atlanta. Four grandchildren, Drew Burgy and Courtney Burgy, of Tequesta, Fla. and Anna Pate Glover, and Keyton Glover of Atlanta, and one sister, Susan Glover Logan of Hendersonville, N.C. and many adoring nieces and nephews, and Anne Sewell Glover's daughter, Melissa Richard and her son Brinson.

Visitation will be at McKoon Funeral Home Thursday evening, Dec. 11 at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be in McKoon Funeral Chapel, at 2 p.m., Friday, Dec. 12.Internment will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery.

Mr. John Bratschitsch Sr.
Mr. John Bratschitsch Sr., 73, of Newnan, Ga., died peacefully in his bed at home while listening to Christmas carols Sunday, Dec. 7, 2003.

John was born in Yugoslavia July 4, 1930 to Johann and Antonia Bratschitsch. After studying mechanical engineering in Austria, he moved to Montreal, Canada in 1951 and graduated from the Canadian Institute of Management. Later during his career, he received the distinguished honor of becoming a Certified Professional Senior Mechanical Engineer. John, being a true Austrian, was a self-made, inventive man who held several manufacturing patents. He was also a man of character and compassion, and displayed this trait many times when he would sponsor homeless immigrants in their efforts to become Canadian citizens. John has been a member of St. George Catholic Church since 1980. He will be remembered as a loving and gentle husband, father and grandfather.

Mr. Bratschitsch is preceded in death by a grandson, John Derek Bratschitsch.

Surviving are his wife of 51 years, Mrs. Ursula Bratschitsch of Newnan; two sons, John Bratschitsch Jr. and his wife Winnie and Anthony Bratschitsch and his wife Francis; four daughters, Irene Bratschitsch, Susan Hamilton and her husband Gary, Elizabeth Johnson and her husband Bernie, and Barbara Lanier and her husband Lee Andrew; nine grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, and many friends.

The family will receive friends at Jones Funeral Home Wednesday, Dec. 10, from 5-7 p.m. The Rosary service will follow visitation at 7 p.m. The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 11 at St. George Catholic Church with Father Austin Fogarty officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

Mrs. Diane Faulk Jennings
Mrs. Diane Faulk Jennings, a beloved mother and friend to all, died Monday, Dec. 8, 2003 in Newnan, Ga. She was born in Prattville, Ala., to the late Daniel Bill and Juanita Chisum Faulk March 19, 1943.

She obtained her Bachelor of Science and Master's degrees from the University of Alabama and her EDD from the University of Georgia. She was a professor at the University of South Carolina for three years and at the State University of West Georgia for nine years. She later was an educator for the Coweta County School System 14 years.

The funeral service will be Thursday at 11 a.m. (Central Time) graveside at Prattville Memory Gardens in Prattville, Ala. The family will receive friends at McKoon Funeral Home Wednesday, Dec. 10 from 6-8 p.m.

Cem Drake, Chad Davis, Justin Griffith, Chris Jennings, Taylor Webb, James Keith and Durward Faulk will serve as pallbearers.

She is survived by her sons, James C. Jennings IV and Joshua B. Jennings of Newnan; granddaughter, Jessica Beckom; sister, Joan Faulk of Prattville, Ala.; brother, Durward Faulk of Ocala, Fla.

Mrs. Helen Marie Roberts
Mrs. Helen Marie Roberts, 53, died Monday evening, Dec. 8, 2003 at West Georgia Medical Center in LaGrange, Ga.

Mrs. Roberts was born March 13, 1950 in Brooks, Ga., daughter of the late Jesse Denson Hayes and Alma Victoria Jones Hayes. She had lived in LaGrange for the past two years and was retired from the Waffle House.

Survivors include her three daughters and sons-in-law, Angela and Robert Smith of LaGrange, Victoria and Chris Barnhart of McDonough, Ga., and Michelle and Iran Lopez of Griffin, Ga.; four sisters, Jeanette McKnight, Dorothy Byrom, and Cheryl Robinson, all of Senoia, Ga., and Linda Banks of Griffin, Ga.; two brothers, Joe Hayes of Senoia, Ga., and Tony Hayes of Griffin, Ga.; seven grandchildren, Stormy Satterwhite, Patrick Seymour Jr., Ashley Vaughn, Corey Seymour, Logan Banks, Hannah Banks and Hunter Banks; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 11 in the chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary with the Rev. Charles Chapman and the Rev. James Elliott officiating. Burial will follow in Meadoway Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday.

Mrs. Dorothy "Dot" Williams
Mrs. Dorothy "Dot" Williams, 79, of Newnan, Ga., died December 8, 2003 at Southwest Christian Hospice, Union City, Ga.

She was born Sept. 6, 1924 at Colome, South Dakota to the late Henry Mulso and Mary Eisenbraun Mulso.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years, James "Jim" Williams of Newnan; daughters, Angie Williams of Raleigh, N.C., Pam Glanton and husband Jim Glanton of Riverdale, Ga; son, Terry Williams and wife Sandy of Woodstock, Ga.; twin brother, Clifford Mulso and wife Fern of Phillip, South Dakota; older brother Robert Mulso and wife Ann of Winner, South Dakota; grandsons, Wesley Williams of Mobile, Ala., and Joshua Glanton of Riverdale, Ga.; granddaughters, Courtney and Carrie Williams of Woodstock, Ga.

Mrs. Williams was a bank bookkeeper in Rapid City, South Dakota, before marriage and a lifetime Lutheran but a homemaker after marriage.

Mr. Richard Lee Yeager
Mr. Richard Lee Yeager, 67, of Grantville, Ga., died Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2003 at Hospice LaGrange.

He was born Feb. 15, 1936 in Moreland, Ga. He was the son of the late Claude and Rosa (Boswell) Yeager. Mr. Yeager served his country by his enlistment in the Air Force. Consequently, his professional life was spent as an aircraft mechanic. He was a faithful member of Oak Lawn Baptist Church. Mr. Yeager was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Clyde Yeager; a brother, Sam Yeager; and a son, Brian Keith Yeager.

Surviving him are his wife Diane Hannah Yeager; daughter, Tracy Pope and her husband Tommy of Newnan; son, Allen Yeager of Grantville; three sisters, Lillian Yeager of Newnan, Sue Hinton and husband Collier of Newnan and Geneva Harris of Newnan; brother, James Yeager of Sharpsburg; three grandchildren.

Mr. Danny Allen Brumfield
Danny Allen Brumfield, age 49, of Franklin, Ga., died Sunday, Dec. 7, 2003 at Briarcliff Haven in Decatur, Ga. Mr. Brumfield was a transport driver for Eckerd Drug Company.

He was born Dec. 15, 1953 to the late Charlie Allen Brumfield and Rose D. Mullins, his mother who survives him. He is also survived by his wife Pamela Brumfield. Also surviving are two daughters, Melissa Brumfield and Carrie Brumfield; and three sons, Daniel Brumfield, Brandon Brumfield and Justin Brumfield; and one sister Vickie Brumfield.

Mr. Tollison Kirby (T.K.) Davis
Mr. Tollison Kirby (T.K.) Davis, age 95, of Peachtree City, passed away on Dec. 6, 2003.

Funeral service will be held Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2003 at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of McKoon Funeral Home. Rev. Steve Bingham officiating. Interment in Westminster Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2003 from 12-2 p.m. at McKoon Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Peachtree City First Baptist Building Fund.

Mr. Davis was a native of Coweta County, Ga. During his career he worked for The Manget Brothers in Newnan and Augusta, Ga.; Inman Mills in Enoree, S.C.; Buffalo Mills in Union, S.C.; Abney Mills in Greenwood, S.C.; Beacon Manufacturing Company in Westminster, S.C.; and the U.S. Department of Agriculture. A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy in the North Atlantic.

Since moving to Peachtree City in 1981, Mr. Davis had been a member of the First Baptist Church, serving several terms as a Deacon and for about 15 years as Assistant Church Treasurer. He had also served as a Deacon in several South Carolina churches. At various times he also served as President of his local Lion's Club and as Commander of his American Legion Post.

Mr. Davis was the widower of Mary Lois Pardue Davis. He is survived by two sons, John R. Davis of Suwanee, and Michael K. Davis of Peachtree City. Also surviving are five grandsons, Gary R. Davis of Stone Mountain, Kirby D. Davis of Tucker, Mark A. Davis of Colorado Springs, Lee A. Davis of Acworth, Michael K. Davis, Jr. of Newnan; one granddaughter Gala Davis Johnson of Tyrone; three great granddaughters; one great grandson; two sisters, Cornelia Smith and Lucille McKoy of Newnan; and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Ozie Whatley McWilliams
Funeral services for Mrs. Ozie Whatley McWilliams, of Newnan, will be held Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2003, 1 p.m. at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, Moreland. The remains placed in state at 11:30 a.m. Rev. Ray McWilliams will deliver the eulogy, assisted by Rev. Reginald Litman, Evangelist Marian Latimer, Rev. Clinton Elder, Rev. J.T. Coleman, Rev. Larry Warner and Rev. J.C. Neal. Interment Church Cemetery. The nephews will serve as pall bearers.

She was born Jan. 27, 1918 to the late Joe and Jennie Lou Dixon Whatley, the eighth of nine children. She was reared in a Christian home, and attended the schools of Coweta County.

In 1928, she joined The Mt. Calvary Baptist Church and was baptized by Rev. Bill Smith, where she served as a faithful member.

In 1938, she was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Marvin McWilliams and to this union eight children were born.

After moving to Newnan, she united with Faith Tabernacle Holiness Church, where she worked faithfully and with patience until her health failed.

She leaves to cherish her memory one sister: Josephine Rush; four children: Marvin (Diane), Wallace, Margaret and Ray; eleven grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Mrs. Pauline D. Holt
Mrs. Pauline D. Holt, 92, died Dec. 5, 2003 at her home in Sharpsburg, Ga., after declining health.

She was one of seven children born to Paul E. and Anne D. Davenport on Dec. 25, 1910, in Statesboro, Ga., and was a member of Turin United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by husband Marion E. Holt.

Funeral services for Mrs. Holt will be Monday, Dec. 8, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Parrott Funeral Home. Rev. Griff Jones will officiate, with burial at Westview Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. and Sunday afternoon from 2 to 4 p.m. at Parrott Funeral Home in Fairburn, Ga.

Survivors include daughter Joyce Knox of Sharpsburg; grandson and wife Carl and Donna Knox of Newnan; granddaughter and husband Terrie and Edward Promis of Sharpsburg; great-grandchildren Jonathan and Jessica Knox of Palmetto and Andrew Promis of Sharpsburg; step-grandchildren Michael Buckner of Newnan and Eric and Tiffany Buckner of Newnan; one sister Estelle Willingham and family of Selma, Tenn.; one brother-in-law Gene Cruse and family of Tyrone; one sister-in-law Virginia Davenport and family of Peoria, Ariz.; JoEddi Knox of Palmetto; and numerous nieces and nephews, as well as great nieces and nephews.

Baby Jonathon Alan-Louis Caswell died Thursday, Dec. 4, 2003.

Infant Alden Betts MacRae, age 3 months, died Thursday, Dec. 4, 2003.

The family will hold a private graveside service at Tuscaloosa Memorial Park.

MacRae is preceded in death by her mother, Tara Cox MacRae.

Survivors include one brother, Spencer Irwin; father Roger MacRae; grandparents, Sam and Bunny Cox of Tuscaloosa, Ala. and Dorothy and Bruce MacRae of Victoria, British Columbia, Canada.; and a large, loving extended family.

Mr. Wilbur L. Rainey
Mr. Wilbur L. Rainey, 73, of Newnan, Ga., died Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2003, at Newnan Hospital.

Mr. Rainey was born Oct. 20, 1930, in Whitfield County, Ga., to the late Clen L. Rainey and Alice Garrett Rainey.

The funeral service was held at McKoon Funeral Home, 38 Jackson St. in Newnan on Thursday, Dec. 4 at 2 p.m. Brother Clay Henry officiated, and interment was at Oak Hill Cemetery in Newnan. Nephews of Mr. Rainey served as pallbearers, and honorary pallbearer was his lifetime friend Frank Turner of Newnan.

Survivors include wife Sara Rainey of Newnan; two sisters, Linda Yarbrough and Louise Smith of Newnan; and two brothers, Luther Rainey of McDonough, Ga. and Gene Rainey of Newnan.

Mr. Jeffrey Alan Batchelor
Mr. Jeffrey Alan Batchelor, 41, of Newnan, Ga., died Dec. 3, 2003.

He was born Dec. 25, 1961 in Lincoln Park, Michigan. He was preceded in death by his wife, Candy Winkles Batchelor, and his father, James Batchelor.

Survivors are his daughter, Lindsay Batchelor; parents, Hubert and Glenda Dean of Newnan; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Barbara and Curtis Winkles of Newnan; sister, Joni (Andy) Pritchett of South Carolina; uncles and aunts, Ed Batchelor of Florida, Sandra Batchelor of Tennessee, and Tony and Donna Chesnut of Michigan; nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 6 at Higgins Hillcrest Chapel with Rev. Gary Boyd officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Mrs. Alice Ruth Byrom
Mrs. Alice Ruth Byrom of Peachtree City, Ga., formerly of Senoia, Ga., died Dec. 4, 2003.

Surviving are daughter, Alice and Norman Jones, Fayetteville; grandchildren, Tresa and Ricky Martin, Griffin, Ga., Terry Jones, Ft. Worth, Texas, Juanita and Scott Martin, Fayetteville, Darlene and Anthony Stanley, Fayetteville; nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Saturday, Dec. 6 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Carl J. Mowell and Son Funeral Home, Peachtree City, with Rev. Mike Lynch officiating. Interment in Senoia City Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 5-8 p.m.
