Mr. Wayne Edward Faulkner
Mr. Wayne Edward Faulkner, 74, of East Newnan, died Thursday, Feb. 12, 2004. Mr. Faulkner was born in Coweta County on May 27, 1929, to Ed and Mary Faulkner. He was preceded in death by sons Larry and Danny Faulkner. He was retired from the State of Georgia Highway Department, was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and loved to deer hunt and fish.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Feb. 14 at 2 p.m. at Higgins Hillcrest Chapel with Rev. Carl Calhoun, Rev. Bryan Calhoun and Rev. Terry Calhoun officiating. Grandsons served as pallbearers, and interment was held at Calvary Baptist Church Cemetery.

Surviving are his wife, Azzie Lee Faulkner; sons and daughters-in-law, Steve and Patsy Faulkner of Grantville, Denver and Nancy Kittles of Athens, Robert and Joyce Kittles, Frankie and Beverly Kittles, Robbie Jones of Tennessee; daughters and sons-in-law, Debbie and Jim Green of Riverdale, Judy and Jim Wainright, Louise and Parker Noles of Franklin, Dinah and Ralph Costley, Sarah and Tommy Summerlin of North Carolina, Megan Faulkner and Judy Cantrell; one sister, Mary Lynn Bishop of Newnan; and grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Miss Alexus Paige Holt and Miss Jada D'Juan Holt
Miss Alexus Paige Holt and Miss Jada D'Juan Holt died Wednesday, Feb. 11 and Thursday, Feb. 12, 2004, of injuries sustained in a car accident.

Alexus Paige was born Feb. 13, 1996, in Troup County. She was a second grade student at Ruth Hill Elementary School, where everyone loved her.

Jada D'Juan was born Aug. 7, 2000, and attended The Spirit of Excellence Christian School (formerly Jerusalem), where everyone waited for her morning smile.

A Celebration of Life service will be held Monday, Feb. 16, at 11 a.m. at the Mt. Sinai Baptist Church in Newnan. Remains will be placed instate at 9:30 p.m. The Rev. J. W. Gibbons will serve as pastor, and Rev. Melvin Brittain Jr. will officiate. Internment will be at Sunset Cemetery. Pallbearers will be relatives, and flower bearers will be relatives and friends.

Family will receive friends at the funeral home today, from 4 to 6 p.m. On the day of the service, the cortege will assemble at 26 Fairhaven Dr., Newnan, at 10 a.m.

Survivors include parents, Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Holt Jr.; grandparents, Cloyce Tucker and David Tucker of Franklin, Ga., Willene (Tyrone) Sledge of Pine Mountain, Ga. and Eugene Holt Sr. of Woodland, Ga.; aunts, Brenda Banks (Victor) of Carrollton, Lisa Reed of Franklin, Bernadette Davis of Union City and Cynthia Brown (Broderick) of Manchester, Ga.; one uncle, Joshua Tucker of Bowdon, Ga.; great-grandparents, Emma Tucker and Lela Person of Franklin and Earline Chaney and Lula Holt of Woodland; a special big play sister, Tabatha Brown of Union City; 13 loving and caring great-aunts; 13 devoted great-uncles; godparents, Mr. and Mrs. Arthez Woodruff of LaGrange; and a host of relatives and friends.

Mrs. Elizabeth "Betty" Cole Starr, 83, of Griffin, Ga., died Thursday, Feb. 12, 2004. She was preceded in death by husband, Dr. Kirby W. Starr Jr.

Arrangements are being handled by McKoon Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 16. In addition, the family will receive friends at the residence today from 3 to 5 p.m. Graveside service will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Newnan at 11 a.m. on Monday, with Dr. Bruce Morgan officiating. Contributions may be made to your favorite charity.

Mrs. Irene Couch Tupper of Fayetteville died Friday, Feb. 13, 2004.

Mrs. Tupper was preceded in death by husband Warren Tupper.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Feb. 17, at 1 p.m. at the chapel of Parrott Funeral Home. Rev. Curtis Turner and Rev. Bobby Robinson will officiate. Internment will be at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends today and Monday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Charles M. "Chuck" Woodruff Jr., 41, died Friday, Feb. 13, 2004.

He was born Dec. 12, 1962, in Fulton County, and was employed in the lighting department of Lowe's in Newnan.

Funeral services for Mr. Woodruff will be Monday, Feb. 16 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of McKoon Funeral Home. Pastor Ron McCurry and Pastor David McBurnett will officiate, and burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends today from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Henry Blackwell Alexander

Mr. Henry Blackwell Alexander, 90, died Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2004.
Mr. Alexander was a member of Newnan First United Methodist Church. He was born in Jasper Counnty, Ga. and moved to Newnan in 1933. He retired from Brown Steel Company, formerly R. D. Cole Manufacturing Company.
Surviving are his wife of 70 years, Mary Lou Alexander; three children, Walker Smith Alexander and his wife Helen, Heflin, AL, Richard Henry Alexander and his wife Ruth, Conyers, GA, and Chloe Adeline Agan and her husband Norman, Woodstock, GA; three grandchildren, one step-grandchild and four great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, Feb. 14 at 11 a.m. in Forest Lawn Memorial Park with Rev. Gary Parrish officiating. The family received friends Friday, Feb. 13 from 6-8 p.m. at McKoon Funeral Home. Mr. Mark Alan Cieutat, 28, of Gay, Ga., died Feb. 10, 2004.
He was born Nov. 1, 1975. He graduated from Fayette County High School and from the State University of West Georgia. He was the owner of Too Short Refrigerated Transport.
Surviving are his parents, Leon and JoAnn Cieutat of Gay; brothers, Sean and Sherry Cieutat of Gay and Jody Cieutat of Gay; niece, Mallory Cieutat; grandfather, Newell Smith of Locust Grove; grandmother, Aline Cieutat of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; many aunts and uncles.
The funeral is 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 14 at Carl J. Mowell and Son Chapel, Fayetteville, Ga. Burial in Westminster Memorial Gardens. Elder Doug Tidwell officiating.

Mrs. Earlie Mae Hendrix of Augusta, Ga., formerly of Newnan, Ga. died Feb. 12, 2004. Mrs. Hendrix was born in Newnan, attended and taught Sunday School at East Newnan Baptist Church, and worked for Playtex Corp. for more than 23 years.
Surviving are daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and Lee Hunt of Newnan, Jackie and Bob Spires of Augusta, Dorothy and Jeff Thompson of Newnan, Brenda and John Briggs of Newnan; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one nephew.
Funeral services are 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 15, at Higgins Hillcrest Chapel, Newnan, with Rev. Carl Green and Rev. Gary Howard officiating; interment Oak Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday, Feb. 14 from 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Sam Scandrick
Mr. Sam Scandrick of Newnan, Ga., son of the late Joe and Victoria Hardy Scandrick, was born July 10, 1923 in Coweta County. He passed Feb. 8, 2004, at West Georgia Medical Center in LaGrange. Funeral service will be held Friday, Feb. 13 at Liberty Hill A.M.E. Church, Sharpsburg, Ga. The remains placed in state at 12 noon. Elder Willie J. Fountain will deliver the eulogy, assisted by Rev. Frederick Forsh and other ministers. Interment church cemetery. Pallbearers: Jamarcus Irvin, Eric Teagle, Darnell Williamson, Demetris Torrain, Phillip Scandrick Jr. and Joseph Scandrick Jr.

Survivors are children: Annie Williamson, Carrie Scandrick, Mae Byrd, Terry Scandrick, Phillip Scandrick, Sam Scandrick Jr. and Mr. and Mrs. Ricky Scandrick; a host of other relatives and friends. Wake Thurs. 7-9 p.m. at Roscoe Jenkins Funeral Home, Newnan, Ga.

Mrs. Chloe Jackson Williamson
Mrs. Chloe Jackson Williamson, 84, of Newnan, Ga., died Sunday, Feb. 8, 2004 at Christian Ministries Hospice in Griffin, Ga. She was a beautician and after her marriage she became a homemaker. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Newnan.

She was born on May 22, 1919, the daughter of the late Benjamin Jackson and the late Hattie (Nutt) Jackson.

She is survived by three daughters, Diane (Williamson) Gordon and her husband Bob of Griffin, Ga., Wanda Millians of Newnan, Gail Cunningham and her husband Duane of Sharpsburg, Ga.; sister, Clyde Pittman of Atlanta; two brothers, Sydney Jackson of Cairo, Cohen Jackson of Rome; five grandchildren. Pallbearers were sons-in-law and grandsons.

Arrangements were handled by McKoon Funeral Home, 38 Jackson St., Newnan, Ga., where the family received friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 9. Funeral service was held at McKoon's at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 10. Interment was in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Newnan, Ga.

Dr. E. Neal Gunby
Dr. E. Neal Gunby, 62, died Saturday, Feb. 7, 2004 at his home in Sharpsburg, Ga.

He was born to the late James Edwin Gunby and Mrs. Bernice Wright Gunby on Oct. 16, 1941 in Decatur, Ga. He was a retired neurosurgeon and colonel in the U.S. Army.

The funeral service will be Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2004 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of McKoon Funeral Home with Rev. Gary Parrish and Rev. Terry Thompkins officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Wednesday for an hour prior to the service. The family has asked that memorial contributions be made to the charity of one's choice in his honor.

He is survived by his mother, Bernice Wright Gunby of Newnan, Ga.; and his brother, William W. Gunby of Palm City, Fla.

Mr. Henry G. Hemmings, 58, died Friday, Feb. 6, 2004 in Tacoma, Wash.

He was born March 9, 1945 in Newnan, Ga.

Surviving are his wife, Nancy Hemmings of Tacoma, WA; son, Ronald and Kay Hemmings Sr.; three grandchildren, Ronald Jr., Jonathon and Crystal Hemmings; cousin, Linda Bennett; step-children, Bryan and Lisa Wheatly, Michelle Wheatly, Eric and Elaine Wheatly and Sherry Edwards; step-grandchildren, Sara, Alex and Carson Wheatly, Matthew Swartz, Chris, Amanda and Mirssa.

Mrs. Keturah Hensler
Mrs. Keturah Hensler, 94, of Senoia, Ga., died Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2004 at Southland Nursing Home in Peachtree City, Ga.

She was born August 19, 1909, daughter of the late Lester Bartell Kinney and the late Laura Edinger Kinney. Mrs. Hensler was a World War II Navy Nurse. She served in the South Pacific betweein 1944 and 1945 in Fleet Hospitals 107 and 108.

Surviving are her husband, Raymond Hensler of Senoia; daughter, Kay (Hensler) Wieringa of Senoia, Ga.; granddaughter, Kathy Gibson of Canton, Ga.; grandson, Glenn Wieringa of Senoia; niece, Mary Smith of Libby, Montana.

Arrangements are being handled by McKoon Funeral Home, 38 Jackson St., Newnan, Ga., where the family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wedneday, Feb. 11. Funeral service will be at McKoon Funeral Home 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 12, with Rev. Larry Patton officiating. Mr. Donald A. Wagner
Mr. Donald A. Wagner, 81, of Newnan, Ga., died Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2004 at his residence.

He was a member of Central Baptist Church of Newnan. He retired from William L Bonnell in Newnan. He attended Cornell College in Iowa until leaving to serve in World War II, serving in the U.S. Army. He was awarded the Soldiers Medal for rescuing two soldiers who were drowning. He was awarded the following while in the Army: Overseas Service Bars, Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon with 2 Bronze Battle Stars, Philippine Liberation Ribbon with one Bronze Star, Good Conduct Medal and World War II Victory Medal.

Surviving are his wife, Linda (Melear) Wagner of Newnan; three daughters, Laurie and David Adkins of Palm Harbor, Fla., Melanie and Rob Riddle Jr. of Lookout Mountain, Tenn., and Jennifer and Freddie Villacci of Mokena, Ill.; three sons, Steve and Karen Wagner of Rosemary Beach, Fla., David and Molly Wagner of Silver Point, Tenn., Bruce and Lisa Wagner of Rockville, Md.; sister, Martha and Dr. Bob Aigner of Clyde Hill, Wash.; 13 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

Arrangements are being handled by McKoon Funeral Home, 38 Jackson St., Newnan, Ga. Funeral service will be at Central Baptist Church at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 12, Dr. Joel Rochardson officiating. No visitation will be held at the funeral home, the family will receive friends at their home today from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The family requests instead of flowers make contributions to Central Baptist Church Building Fund, 14 West Broad St., Newnan, GA 30263; or to the American Cancer Society, 135 Bradford Sq., Suite B, Fayetteville, GA 30215.

Mrs. Dorothy Anne Bishop Roberts
Mrs. Dorothy Anne Bishop Roberts, 74, of Sterling House Assisted Living in Hickory, N.C., died Saturday, Feb. 7, 2004, at Catawba Valley Medical Center.

Born June 16, 1929 in Atlanta, Ga., she was the daughter of the late Judge Elmer Bishop and Lois Duggan Bishop. She was a member of White Oak Grove Baptist Church in Senoia, Ga. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her husband, Whitley Marlin Roberts Jr. and a sister, Katherine Dailey.

Surviving are her mother, Lois D. Bishop of Hickory, N.C.; two sisters, Elinor Boswell of Hickory, N.C. and Virginia Hobby of Sharpsburg, Ga.; four nieces; seven nephews and their families.

A private graveside service will be held at the Westview Cemetery in Atlanta, Ga. with Rev. L. O. Thompson officiating Wednesday, Feb. 11, at 11 a.m.

Memorials may be made to the Humane Society of Fulton County.

Mr. James W. Brasiel
James Warren "Jim" Brasiel, of Columbus, died Saturday, Feb. 7, 2004, at his home.

Mr. Brasiel was born Jan. 30, 1963, in Thomaston, son of the late James Edward Brasiel and Barbara Yates of Hogansville. He was a Protestant by faith.

Survivors in addition to his mother, include his wife, Melanie S. Brasiel of Columbus; four sisters, Rachel Gaddy, Becky Cosper, JoAnne Cook, and Jennifer Knight, all of Hogansville; one niece; and three nephews.

A memorial service will be conducted at 3 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 10, at Warm Springs Road Church of Christ in Columbus.

It is the desire of the family that flowers be omitted.

Mrs. Lillian Hand Stripling Gardner
Lillian Hand Stripling Gardner, age 103, of Newnan, Ga., died Saturday, Feb. 7, 2004 at Newnan Hospital.

She was born in Spalding County, Ga., Aug. 13, 1900, the youngest of 13 children of Frances Lindsey Hand and Stark Hand. Her marriage to Frank Stripling brought her to Newnan where she was active in church, civic and social affairs. She was the oldest member of The First Baptist Church of Newnan. She was the director of the WMU in the late 1930's, a Loyal Sunday School Class member, and a member of The Voice of Experience Choir. She enjoyed bridge, traveling, and the Atlanta Braves.

She married Everett Gardner in 1969 after the death of her first husband in 1955. Everett Gardner had one daughter, Mrs. David O'Hara, of Sunnyvale, Calif., by an earlier marriage.

Mrs. Gardner was very close to her step-daughter and step-son, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and all of her kin. In Newnan, she is survived by a nephew, Lindsey H. Barron (Genet), great-nephews, Chip Barron and Margaret, and Frank H. Barron and Vicki; nephew, Fred Foy Hand (Nancy), great nieces, Annette Perkins (Ray), and Angie Hogsid (Alan). She had many family members who enjoyed her keen mind and caring interests.

Visitation will be 2 until 3 p.m. Monday, Feb. 9, 2004 at McKoon Funeral Home just prior to the funeral service at 3 in the McKoon chapel with Dr. Gene Tyre and Rev. Barry Barron officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made in Mrs. Gardner's memory to First Baptist Church, 15 West Washington Street, Newnan, Ga. 30263.
