Mrs. Louise Wynn Armstrong Bailey
Mrs. Louise Wynn Armstrong Bailey, of Savannah, and formerly of Newnan, died Saturday May 15, 2004, at Riverview Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Mrs. Bailey was born in Newnan and after her marriage, moved to Savannah in 1935.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Jesse J. Armstrong Sr. and Dr. Thomas S. Bailey.

Mrs. Bailey was always active in the community and was instrumental in forming The Children's Theater, that later became The Little Theater. She was a founding member of the Savannah High Blue Jacket Booster Club, and was a member of the DAR, the Gordonston Association, the Gordonston Garden Club, the Gordonston Grand Gardeners, and was also very active in the Garden Club of Georgia.

She is survived by four children: Wynn Armstrong Creal of Atlanta, Jesse J. Armstrong Jr. and his wife Judy of Newnan, Louise Armstrong Grotheer and Dorothy (Dotty) Armstrong, both of Savannah; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Geraldine Wynn Goddard of Columbus and Georgia Wynn Carter of Savannah.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 18, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Fox and Weeks.

A grave-side service will be held Wednesday May 19 at 11 a.m. at Hillcrest Abbey East. Conducting the service will be Pastor Don Rieder of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to The Davenport House, Telfair Museum of Art, or the Gordonston Garden Club.

Mr. Jimmy Horton
Mr. Jimmy Horton, 49, a 19 year resident of Senoia, died Saturday, May 16, 2004, at Fayette Community Hospital.

Mr. Horton was born March 9, 1955. He was an employee of ALL Crain Inc., in Austell, for the past seven years.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, May 18, 2004, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of McKoon Funeral Home. The Rev. Terry Calhoun will officiate.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers please make memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society or to the Miranda Horton Scholarship Fund, C/O Bank of Coweta, Senoia Branch, attention Darlene Massengale.

Surviving are his wife of 19 years, Cindy Caldwell Horton; daughters Miranda Horton of Senoia, and Seneca Horton of Woodlawn, Ill.; sisters Joyce (Tom) Ledbetter of Gay, Donna Stapler of Grant, Ala., Debra Randales of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; brothers Mac (Sue) Horton of Gay, Jarrell (Molly) Horton of Griffin; and mother and step-father, Frances and Marshall Biser.

Mr. Henry Ray Sprayberry
Mr. Henry Ray Sprayberry, 86, formerly of Airport Road, Griffin, died Friday, May 14, 2004, at the VA Hospital in Augusta.

Mr. Sprayberry was born March 13, 1918, in Newnan, to the late Lewis Webster Sprayberry and the late Edith Tillander Sprayberry.

He was a master carpenter and retired in 1983 from the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America. Mr. Sprayberry served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a member of First United Methodist Church and the men's Bible class.

He and his wife had lived in Griffin for 52 years before moving in September of 2000.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Grace Bernhard Sprayberry; daughter, Dr. Roslyn R. Sprayberry of Stockbridge; sister Ester Sprayberry Scofield of Indian Harbour, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.

A chapel mausoleum service will be held Wednesday, May 19, 2004, at 6 p.m. in Westwood Gardens. The Rev. Fred Shellnut and Dr. Richard Lumpkin will officiate.

Visitation will be Tuesday, May 18, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church, 1401 Maple Drive, Griffin, GA, 30224, or to a charity of choice.

Mr. Gerry Claud Addison
Mr. Gerry Claud Addison of Senoia died May 14, 2004, at Embracing Hospice Care.

Mr. Addison was born Aug. 12, 1951, in Coweta County to Claud and Opal (Harrison) Addison. Mr. Addison loved gospel music, loved to play the guitar and loved to fish. He was employed by Crain Southern in shipping and receiving.

Funeral services will be today at 12:30 p.m. at Higgins Hillcrest Chapel. Rev. Troy Duncan will officiate, and interment will follow at Westminster Memorial Gardens in Peachtree City. The family received friends at the funeral home Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m.

Donations in Mr. Addison's name may be made to Embracing Hospice Care, 315 Arrowhead Blvd., Jonesboro, Ga. 30236.

Survivors include wife, Bobbie (Castles) Addison; sons, Brandon Scott Whitten, Jerry Kenneth Whitten and Michael Hunnicutt; daughters, Lisa Renee Caldwell, Katrinia Denise Thompson and Stacy Hunnicutt; brothers and sisters-in-law, Kevin Addison, Danny and Linda Addison and Randy and Robin Addison; and eight grandchildren.

Mrs. Violet Lewis Miles
Mrs. Violet Lewis Miles, 55, died Friday, May 14, 2004, at her residence.

A native of Coweta County, she was born July 7, 1948, to Joseph Z. and Sybil Wessinger Lewis of Grantville. Mrs. Miles dedicated her life to providing a home for her family and nurturing her children and grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Lawrence Lewis, Richard Lewis and his wife Vickie, and James Lewis and his wife Ann.

Funeral services will be Monday, May 17 at 2 p.m. at the chapel of McKoon Funeral Home. Pastor Keith Ford and Reverend Paul Stitcher will officiate. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, and visitation will be at the funeral home today from 3 to 7 p.m.

In addition to her parents, survivors include husband David Miles; children, Karen Boyd, Cynthia Fuller and husband Rueben, and Tyler Huddleston, all of Newnan; grandchildren, Jonathan, Ethan, Kelsie and Kristal Boyd, Trevor Strickland, and Joshua, Justin, Jacob and Ryan, and Caitlyn Fuller; and siblings, Martha Caswell and husband Robert of Opelika, Ala., Ruth Goss and husband Dorsey of Luthersville, Sandra Estep and husband Bob of Moreland, Tim Lewis of Newnan and Joe Lewis Jr. and wife Lynn of Jacksonville.

Mrs. Geraldine Ethridge Gibson
Mrs. Geraldine Ethridge Gibson, 63, of Newnan, Ga., died Thursday, May 13, 2004. She was born Nov. 21, 1940 to Harold Ethridge Sr. and Lillie Mae Smith Ethridge.

The funeral service is Saturday, May 15, 2004 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of McKoon Funeral Home with Rev. James Cannon officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 5 to 9 at McKoon Funeral Home, Newnan.

She is survived by her sons, Larry and Tina Gibson of Newnan, Ray Gibson of Atlanta; sisters, Nancy Stallings, Jackie Hester, both of Riverdale; brother, Johnny Ethridge of Riverdale; and six grandchildren.

Mrs. Sue Jones
Mrs. Sue Jones, 57, of Newnan, Ga., died Wednesday, May 12, 2004. She was born on April 7, 1947 in Oshkosh, Wisconsin to Alfred Verner and the late Alice Marsh Verner.

A memorial service will be held Friday, May 14, at 4 p.m. at St. Paul's Episcopal Church with Rev. Russell Kendrick and Rev. Henre Harrison officiating. The family will receive friends in the Parish Hall of the church following the service. The family had asked that flowers be omitted and memorial contributions made to St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 576 Roscoe Road, Newnan, GA 30263.

She is survived by husband Sidney Pope Jones Jr.; daughters, Beth Willems and Susan Paulk; grandchildren, Alice Marsh Willems, Jones Gambill Paulk; father, Alfred Verner; sister, Alice V. Reynolds; and brother, John Verner.

Mr. Howard P. Norton, 85, of Newnan, Ga., died May 11, 2004 in Newnan.

The funeral will be at Senoia United Methodist Church Friday, May 14 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Steve Davidson officiating. Interment will be in Senoia City Cemetery.

Visitation is at McKoon Funeral Home in Newnan Thursday, May 13 from 6-8 p.m.

Mr. Norton was born in Senoia April 19, 1919. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He attended Georgia State College and became a certified public accountant. He was a senior partner with Norton, Lawrence and Robbins in Atlanta, Ga., for many years. He retired to his farm in Senoia, Ga. in 1972.

Surviving are his wife, Mary Norton of Newnan; adopted daughter, Nancy Booher of Endicott City, MD; nieces, Lynn Pless of St. Petersburg, Fla. and Joyce Lane of St. Petersburg, Fla.; sister, Blanche Duley of St. Petersburg, Fla.

Mr. Howard P. Norton, 85, of Newnan, Ga., died May 11, 2004 in Newnan.

Mrs. Marie C. Duke
Mrs. Marie C. Duke, 89, of Roswell, Ga., formerly of Newnan, Ga., died Tuesday, May 11, 2004.

Marie Duke spent many years as a hair stylist, but her calling was to be a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother to her beloved family. She was a talented singer and entertained as a member of a trio and the choir of her church, Macedonia Baptist of Newnan, Ga. She served her community by visiting and serving meals to invalids and the elderly. To all who knew Marie, she was an angel flying low to the ground. She was preceded in death by her husband, B. G. Duke. She is survived by her daughter, Connie Dee Scott and husband Bill of Marietta; grandchildren, Donna Henson of Lawrenceville and Kevin Edmondson of McDonough; two great-grandchildren, Christopher and Taylor Edmondson; and two brothers, Mable Andrews of Virginia Beach, Va. and Rudell Richardson of Tupelo, Miss. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Alzheimer's Association, 1841 Clifton Road, NE, Atlanta, GA 30329-4049. A funeral service will be held Thursday, May 13 at 11 a.m. at Northside Chapel Funeral Directors, 12050 Crabapple Road, Roswell. Rev. Searcy Jackson officiating. Mr. Vandil E. Robinson
Mr. Vandil E. Robinson, 56, of Roopville Veal Road, Roopville, Ga., died Monday, May 10, 2004. He was born Sept. 10, 1947 in Carroll County to the late Leonard Clifton Robinson. Mr. Robinson was a brick mason by trade and attended Veal Baptist Church. Besides his father he was preceded in death by three brothers, Trynes Robinson, Vincent Robinson and Travis Robinson. Survivors include his mother, Mrs. Nellie Whitehead Robinson, wife Barbara Irwin Robinson, ten children and thirteen grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday afternoon May 12 at 1 p.m. at Martin and Hightower Heritage Chapel with Rev. Ralph Caldwell officiating. Pallbearers will be Craig Marks, Jimmy Kersey, Jimmy Zenko, Jerry Irwin, Darrell Palmer and Glenn Smith. Interment will follow in Bethesda Baptist Church Cemetery. Mr. Roosevelt Bailey
Mr. Roosevelt Bailey, 34, of Newnan, Ga., died Thursday, May 6, 2004 in South Carolina.

A funeral will be Tuesday, May 11, at 1 p.m. at Sellers-Smith R. W. S. Memorial Chapel with Pastor Tilden Colton officiating. Interment will be in the New Hope Cemetery in Haralson.

The family will assemble on the day of the service at the home of his brother, William Bailey, 600 Towers Rd., Peachtree City, Ga. at noon.

Miss Rory Elizabeth Brown
Miss Rory Elizabeth Brown of Newnan, Ga., died Saturday, May 8, 2004.

She was the daughter of Adam Landry and Jennifer Brown.

She is also survived by her brother, Drew Landry; and grandparents, Jan F. Melton of Newnan, Mr. and Mrs. Glen Landry of Gwinett County; and great-grandparents, Thelma M. Fairbairn of Charleston, S.C., and Ed and Marjorie Howard of Forest Park; also Aunt Terry and Uncle David Clough; Uncle Steven and Aunt Deena Landry; cousins, Tanner Pitts; Michael, Scott and Katherine Valentine; and Alex and Ashley Landry. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston Hospital.

Mrs. Daisy M. (Hendricks) Smith
Mrs. Daisy M. (Hendricks) Smith, 88, of Newnan, Ga., died Sunday, May 9, 2004 at Avalon Healthcare and Rehabilitation in Newnan, Ga.

Mrs. Smith was a retired textile worker.

She is survived by her sisters, Irma McDonald of Red Oak, Ga.; nieces, Mary Kate Hicks of Jonesboro, Ga., Phyllis Bennett of Newnan and Mary Goldberg of Newnan; numerous great nieces and nephews.
