Mrs. Edna D. Yarbrough
Mrs. Edna D. Yarbrough, 83, of Newnan, Ga., former resident of W. 4th Ave. in Albany, Ga., since 1948, died June 14, 2004 at BelAire Assisted Living in Newnan, Ga.

The funeral service will be Saturday, 11 a.m. at Crown Hill Cemetery. Rev. Stan Glass officiating.

A native of Vidalia, Ga., Mrs. Yarbrough lived most of her life in Albany, where she was a charter and active member of Westminster Presbyterian Church and a graduate of Freeman Business College. Mrs. Yarbrough was an avid gardener, fisherman, water-skier, and loved the outdoors.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Hugh M. Yarbrough, who died in 1970. Survivors include her son, Mark Yarbrough of Newnan, Ga.; three grandsons, J. Yarbrough of Atlanta, Ga., Kap Yarbrough of Nashville, TN and Davis Yarbrough of Newnan, Ga.; two brothers, Gerald Davis and Kenneth Davis, both of Vidalia, Ga.; two sisters, Liz New and Nita Carroll, both of Vidalia, Ga.

The family will receive friends following the graveside service.

Mr. Frank Matthew Keahey
Mr. Frank Matthew Keahey, 19, of Gay, Ga., died Sunday, June 13, 2004. He was born May 21, 1985 in Fulton County, Georgia, son of Frank Keahey and Ammie (Stevens) Thomas. Mr. Keahey was employed by Caldwell Concrete.

He is survived by his parents, Frank Keahey and Ammie Lee and Chris Thomas; sister, Amanda Keahey; grandparents, Frank J. and Winn Keahey, Mary Keahey and Cecil Landrum; step-grandparents, Frank and Bobbie Jones; niece, Siera Behringer.

Arrangements are being handled by McKoon Funeral Home, 38 Jackson St., Newnan, Ga., where the family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m. on Wednesday, June 16. Funeral service will be at McKoon Funeral Home at 4 p.m. Thursday, June 17 with Rev. Rhodes Skinner officiating. Interment will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Newnan, Ga.

Mr. James Gordon Self
Mr. James Gordon Self, Shaw Road, Sharpsburg, Ga., died Saturday, June 12, 2004 at his residence.

He was born March 18, 1966 in Fulton County, Georgia, son of James Edwin Self Jr. and Virginia Thrasher Self. He was a reservation agent for Delta Airlines and a member of Mills Chapel Baptist Church.

A funeral was held at graveside at Waverly Hall City Cemetery Monday, June 14, at 2 p.m. with Rev. David Ramey and Rev. Robert Carter officiating.

Surviving are his mother, Virginia T. Self, Waverly Hall, Ga.; son, Brandin Mykel Self, Grantville, Ga.; paternal grandmother, Octavia Self; niece, Jennifer Cain; nephew, Jonathan Cain; sister, Cynthia Seate of Newnan.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, James E. Self Jr.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Portsbridge Hospice, 115 Huntington Park Dr., Fayetteville, Ga. 30214.

Mr. Max Keith Edens
Mr. Max Keith Edens, 42, passed away on June 12, 2004. He is survived by his son, Cpl. Matthew Edens (wife Krystal) of Hawaii; daughter, Kalyn Edens of Newnan; mother, Ann Edens of Stone Mountain; father and step-mother, Max and Mary Ann Edens of Milledgeville; sister, Pam Howard (husband Tommy) of Flowery Branch; brother, Jim (wife Jan) Edens of Griffin; maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles R. Bessant of Atlanta; paternal grandmother, Madeleine Mills of Milledgeville; aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held Thursday, June 17, at 3 p.m. at Mountain Park First Baptist Church in Stone Mountain, Ga. The family will receive friends at Horis A. Ward, Stone Mountain Chapel, Wednesday, June 16, from 6-9 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations to The Emory Body Donor Program, P.O. Box Drawer AR, Atlanta, GA 30322-0001. Mr. Donald Joseph Amis, Jr.
Donald Joseph Amis, Jr., age 57, of Newnan, Ga., passed away at his residence. Mr. Amis was born May 27, 1947 in Newnan, the son of Donald Joseph Amis, Sr. and Joyce Watts Amis. He was employed by Groove Pin. Don was a member of First Baptist Church of Newnan. During his service in the Army during the Vietnam War, he was awarded The Purple Heart.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by a son D.J. Amis of Atlanta; a sister Judy Amis of Peachtree City; and the mother of their son, D.J., Cherie Stoddard.

Arrangements are being handled by McKoon Funeral Home, 38 Jackson Street, Newnan, Ga., where the family received friends from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday, June 13, 2004. The funeral service will be at McKoon Funeral Home at 2 p.m. Monday, June 14, Dr. Gene Tyre and Reverend Jerry Walker officiating. Interment will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Newnan, Ga.

Mr. Harold Eugene Hickok
Mr. Harold Eugene Hickok of Newnan died June 12, 2004. He is survived by his wife Mrs. Gloria Hickok of Newnan; daughter Brenda Sims and her children Brandy Wood and Samantha Sims; son Robert and Sandra Perrin and their daughter Crystal; daughter Dan and Dee Fennell and their children Madison Grace and Eli.

Funeral services will be held Monday, June 14, 2004 at 11 a.m. at the chapel of Carl J. Mowell and Son Funeral Home, Peachtree City. Dr. Joel Alvis will officiate. Mr. Steve Reeves
Steve Reeves, age 47, of Luthersville, Ga., died Friday, June 11, 2004, at Christian Ministries Hospice in Riverdale, Ga. Reeves was employed by Gas Inc.

He was the son of Tyre Reeves and Harriet Reeves of Luthersville, Ga.

He is also survived by his wife Jennie (Evans) Reeves; daughters Renea Steverson of Savannah, Ga., and Tara Palmer of Newnan, Ga.; son Ritchie Palmer of Luthersville, Ga.; sisters Vicky Hudson of Augusta, Ga., and Gayle Kilby of Thomaston, Ga.; brother Danny Reeves of Luthersville, Ga.; grandchildren Palmer Steverson, Cameron Stancill, Trevor Steverson, Jacob Stancill, Rebekah Stancill and Steven Palmer.

Arrangements are being handled by McKoon Funeral Home, 38 Jackson Street, Newnan, Ga. Funeral service will be at McKoon Funeral Home at 4 p.m. Tuesday, June 15, 2004, Rev. Winston Skinner officiating. Contributions can be made to Georgia Cancer Centers.

Mr. Carl H. Pannell
Mr. Carl H. Pannell, 76, died Thursday, June 10, 2004, at Veterans Administration Medical Center in Augusta, Ga.

Mr. Pannell was born June 26, 1927, in Hogansville, Ga., to the late Jesse Pannell and Arie Pitts Pannell.

He was employed as a police officer for the city of Villa Rica, Ga. and served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He was preceded in death by son Johnny H. Pannell.

Funeral services for Mr. Pannell will be held at McKoon Funeral Home today at 2 p.m., with Rev. Jimmy Fleming officiating. Interment will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Newnan. The family received friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday.

Survivors include wife Louise Pannell of Newnan; three daughters, Shirley P. Borders of Newnan; Elizabeth and Sam Blount of Mecosta, Mich.; and Darlene and William (Pannell) Callahan of Newnan; thirty grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Clyde R. Hamric
Mrs. Clyde R. Hamric, 90, of LaGrange, Ga., died Friday, June 11, 2004 at Newnan Hospital and Rehabilitation.

She was born June 26, 1913 in Troup County to John I. and Elma Kennington Reeves and was a lifelong resident. She retired as a certified nursing assistant from West Georgia Medical Center and was a member of Callaway Baptist Church.

Funeral services are 2 p.m. Sunday, June 13 at Hunter-Allen-Myhand Chapel with Rev. Sid Shelnutt and Dr. Tom Daugherty officiating. Burial is in Hillview Annex.

Surviving are two daughters and son-in-law, Mary Anne Gloer of Newnan and Betty and Woody Harry of Pine Mountain, Ga.; 10 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Parks of Calhoun, Ga., and Sara Wright of Brunswick, Ga.; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by son Joe V. Williams Jr. and husbands Joe V. Williams Sr. and Jesse L. Hamric.

The family is at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Betty and Woody Harry at 307 Price Road in Pine Mountain. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday, June 12, from 6-8 p.m.

Flowers will be accepted, or contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association in memory of Mrs. Hamric.

Mr. Carl H. Pannell
Mr. Carl H. Pannell, 76, of Newnan, Ga., died Thursday, June 10, 2004 at Veterans Administration Medical Center in Atlanta, Ga. Mr. Wilson Bonel Dyer
Mr. Wilson Bonel Dyer, 84, died June 10, 2004 in Stockbridge, Ga. A native of Blairsville, Ga., he was born Nov. 19, 1919, son of the late James Allen and Lydia Caroline Seabolt Dyer. He served his country during World War II and received an honorable discharge from the Navy in 1946. He retired from Southern Airways, having worked as a sheet metal foreman. Mr. Dyer is survived by his wife, Vora Wilson Dyer. Other survivors include his children, Jimmy E. Dyer, Shelba Whaley, Judy Wilson-Wood, and Ronnie Wilson. There are 16 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. His brother is Golden Monroe Dyer.

Funeral arrangements are being directed by McKoon Funeral Home, 38 Jackson St., Newnan, GA where the family will receive friends on Friday evening, June 11 from 6-8 p.m. The funeral service will be conducted Saturday, June 12, at 10 a.m. in the chapel of McKoon Funeral Home. Mrs. Emma Louise Hudgens
Mrs. Emma Louise Hudgens, 90, of Palmetto, Ga., entered into rest June 9, 2004. Mrs. Hudgens was preceded in death by husband C. J. Hudgens; granddaughter Linda Smith; and great-grandson Kevin Smith. She is survived by children, J. C. and Betty Hudgens, Janice Smith, Pauline and Willie Parker, Mary Sessions, Glenda and Frank Kunz, Diane Hudgens, Gail and Wayne Beck, Deborah and Tim Pinson. Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 12, at 11 a.m. from the chapel of Higgins Funeral Home with Rev. Joe Mauthe officiating. Interment will be at Hudgens Family Cemetery on Welcome All Road in College Park. Family will receive friends 5-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Higgins at Holly Hill, Fairburn, Ga. 770-964-7833.

Mrs. Barbara Turner Thrower
Mrs. Barbara Turner Thrower, 67, of Newnan, died Wednesday evening, June 9, 2004 at Newnan Hospital. Mrs. Thrower was born in Thomaston, Georgia, to Roy and Lillian Gilley in 1937. After Mrs. Thrower moved to Newnan, she worked most of her life at Bibb Manufacturing Company. She was a member of Sargent Baptist Church. She will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother who was always there for her family.

Mrs. Thrower is preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Henry Thrower. She is survived by her mother, Mrs. Lillian Horn; two sons, David Turner and Eddie Turner; four brothers, Lamar Melson, James Gilley, Edward Gilley, and Frank Gilley; a sister, Irene Lower; six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and many friends.

The family will receive friends at Jones Funeral Home from 7-9 p.m. Friday, June 11. The funeral service will be 1 p.m. Saturday, June 12. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery. Jones Funeral Home, Newnan, Ga.

Mr. William Edgar High
Mr. William Edgar High, 57, of Newnan, died Wednesday, June 9, 2004. He was born in Pike County, AL on February 28, 1947 to the late Julian and Nell Lott High.

The funeral is Thursday, June 10, 2004 at 10 a.m. in the chapel of McKoon Funeral Home. Burial will be in Perote Cemetery in Perote, AL at 1 p.m. Central Time.

Survivors include son, Michael High of Woodstock, GA; daughters, Ginger Danson of Greensboro, GA, Angela High of Newnan; brothers, Frankie High of Perote, AL, Buddy High of Montgomery, AL; and 3 grandchildren.

Mrs. Minnie Lou King
Mrs. Minnie Lou King of Newnan, Ga., died at her residence May 8, 2004. She was born December 3, 1920 to Chester and Kittie (Gross) Shelton in Heard County. Mrs. King was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and loved needlework and crossword puzzles. Surviving are her husband, Sidney King; sons and daughters-in-law, Henry Sidney and Linda F. King and Ronnie G. and Brenda L. King; daughter, Dianne K. Boyd; brother and sister-in-law, E. J. and Margaret Shelton; sisters, Hazel Barber, Alma King and Izney and Claude Caldwell; grandchildren; great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be Thursday, June 10 at 2 p.m. at Higgins Hillcrest Chapel with Rev. Carl Calhoun and Rev. Raymond Hayes officiating. Interment will follow at Calvary Baptist Cemetery. The family received friends Wednesday, 12-9 p.m. at the funeral home. Higgins Hillcrest Chapel.

Mrs. Helen Byars Perry
Mrs. Helen Byars Perry, 81, of Newnan, Ga., died Tuesday, June 8, 2004. A native Georgian who lived most of her life in Atlanta, she was born March 7, 1923, to the late Horry and Beulah Pendley Byars. All who knew her saw her constant love and unwavering faith in Jesus. Her love and commitment to her family was evident and she was always happy to see her girls. Mrs. Perry treasured her relationship and fellowship with her fellow members of Grace Community Fellowship Church. She retired as a teller from First National Bank at West End in Atlanta and was constant fixture at her husband's restaurant, Perry's Burger Basket, in Newnan. She was a member of Senior Friends, AARP, and Creek Jumpers Camping Club. She cherished her many friends and considered them part of her extended family.

The funeral will be Friday, June 11, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of McKoon Funeral Home with Rev. Carl Greene officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at McKoon Funeral Home Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers please make contributions in her memory to Gideons International, Coweta Camp West, P.O. Box 626, Newnan, GA 30264 or to Grace Community Fellowship Church, P.O. Box 71068, Newnan, GA 30271. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Perry in December 2003. She is survived by her daughters, Marsha and Billy Hughes of Waynesboro, GA, Barbara and Joe Cochran of Palm Harbor, FL; grandchildren, Holly and Raymond Brown of Palm Harbor, FL, Ben and Melinda Cochran of Douglasville, GA, Paul Davis of Philadelphia, PA, John Davis of Athens, GA, John and Karen Hughes of Wilson, NC, Cynthia Hughes of Brunswick; and nine great-grandchildren.

Mr. Robert Homer "Bobby" Watkins
Mr. Robert Homer "Bobby" Watkins, 78, of Roswell, Ga., passed away June 6, 2004. Bobby worked as an elevator operator for almost 30 years at the Glenn Building in Atlanta. He is survived by a niece, Sandra Kelly and friend Nate Sears of Roswell; nephew, Ronnie Watkins Jr. of Roswell; great-niece, Kimberly Ramey; great-nephews, Cameron Swank and Corey Ramey; uncle, Harold Smith and wife Drew of Woodstown, NJ; and cousins, Barbara Gammage of Americus, GA; Linda Turner of Bethlehem, GA; and C. B. Watkins Jr. of Columbia, SC. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Peachtree Hospice and the Haven House for their kindness and care during Bobby's last days. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Crabapple Senior Center, 12624 Broadwell Road, Alpharetta, GA 30004. Mrs. Cecil H. Hopkins
Funeral services for Mrs. Cecil H. Hopkins of Newnan will be Wednesday, June 9, 2004, at 2 p.m. at Zion Hill Baptist Church, Newnan. Rev. W. J. Johnson officiating. Interment Eastview Cemetery. The remains will be placed in state at 12:30 p.m. Pallbearers: Willie Matthews, Carlos Matthews, Daryl Matthews, Michael Bolton, Terrion Walker, Kervin Griffin, Doug E. Patterson and Kelvin Glass.

Mrs. Cecil Hines Hopkins was born Oct. 31, 1919 in Coweta County to the late Eddie and Edel Echols Hines. She passed away quietly on June 5, 2004. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Euris Hopkins and eight siblings.

She was educated in the Coweta and Fulton County school systems.

She joined the Mt. Calvary Baptist Church at an early age, and later joined the Zion Hill Baptist Church, where she served faithfully on the Mission and Usher Boards, until her illness.

She leaves to mourn passing one son, Mr. James E. Hines (Dorothy); two daughters, Mrs. Ethel Bolton and Mrs. Patricia Matthews (James), all of Newnan; ten grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mr. James Edward Yeager
Mr. James Edward Yeager, 84, died at his home in Sharpsburg, Ga., Monday, June 7, 2004. Mr. Yeager was born in Moreland in 1920 to Samuel and Rosa Yeager. During WWII, he served in the Army Air Corps as a Flight Chief, earning the World War II Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal, American Theater Ribbon and American Defense Ribbon. After the War, Mr. Yeager traveled as a Government Contractor, dismantling Military encampments until settling in Springfield, Massachusetts. There he worked as a self-employed finishing carpenter. Mr. Yeager returned home to Newnan after the death of his wife, Mrs. Jeannette Yeager in 1992. He will be remembered as the backbone of the family unit, working in the yard, and as a caring father and grandfather.

Mr. Yeager is survived by four daughters, Rosia Lee Maille and husband Peter of Newnan, Joy Susan Dion and husband Paul of Belchertown, Massachusetts, Gay Yeager Bourke of Sharpsburg, and Malka Yeager of Newnan; three sisters, Lillian Yeager, Sue Collier and Geneva Harris; grandchildren, Jeannette Bourke, Tonya Heffner, Jason Dion and James Dion; great-grandchild, Rachel Nicolson; several nieces and nephews and many friends.

His wife of 46 years, Mrs. Jeannette Yeager; two brothers, Samuel and Richard Yeager; and sister, Clyde Yeager, precede him in death.

The family will receive friends from 1-3 p.m. Friday, June 11. The funeral service will immediately follow the visitation at 3 p.m. with Rev. Jerry Eley officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Newnan. Jones Funeral Home, Newnan, Ga.
