Myrna R. Walden

Mrs. Myrna R. Walden, 58, of Euharlee passed away Friday, Feb. 27, 2009, at her residence after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born Nov. 5, 1950, in Mayfield, Ky., she was the daughter of the late Jack Ray.

Myrna had been employed as an assistant project engineer with Skanska USA.

She was also a member of the United Church of God and International Association.

Though her battle has been won and her pain has ended, Myrna will be greatly missed by her family and friends who loved her dearly.

Survivors include her husband, Myles Walden; her children, Alana Jo Walden of Orlando, Fla., and her twins, Jenny Mae Walden of Lakewood, Colo., and Jesse Ray Walden of Sanford, Fla.; her mother, Hilda Roper Ray; her only grandchild, Cheyenne Moron; her sister, Shira Hamilton of Evergreen, Colo.; her brothers, Jim Ray of Columbus, Ind., and Myron Ray of Mayfield, Ky.; and her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Donnie Walden of Fyffe, Ala., Ann Patterson of Huntsville, Ala., Lynda Bechthold of Orangevale, Calif., Hugo Walden of Mount Dora, Fla., and Debbie White of Scottsboro, Ala.

Graveside funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, March 2, at Sunset Memory Gardens with Rev. Roy Holliday officiating.

The family will receive friends at the cemetery following the service.

Lillian Hight Abernathy

Lillian Hight Abernathy went home to be with Jesus on Feb. 26, 2009.

Born Nov. 25, 1913, to the late Ben and Lou Gena Hight of Adairsville, she was a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church in Acworth for over 62 years and loved her church family dearly.

She loved cooking for her family while she was able.

She was preceded in death by a number of brothers and sisters; and her husband of 65 years, David Abernathy; a son-in-law, John W. Davis Sr.

Survivors include daughters, Trannie Davis of Cartersville and Shirley and James (Buster) Parker of Acworth; half-brother, Rev. Ben Hite of White; special nieces, nephews and sisters-in-law; five grandchildren: Tony (Beverly) Parker, Pat (Steve) Steele, James (Bridget) Parker, John "Bill" (Brenda) Davis Jr. and Mike (Denise) Davis; nine great-grandchildren: Beth (Tim) Summerfield, Jennifer (Cory) Pelfrey, John (Hollie) Davis III, Courtney (Nick) Hann, Casey Davis, Stephen Steele, Kaylie Parker and Alicia Parker; stepgreat-grandchild, Eric Steele; four great-great-grandchildren, Kylie Hann, Khloe Hann, Madison Summerfield and baby Davis on the way; stepgreat-great-grandchild, Keisha Steele.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, March 1, at 2 p.m. at Shady Grove Baptist Church in Acworth with Revs. Joey Dubois and Thomas Wheeler officiating.

Burial will follow at Liberty Hill Cemetery in Acworth.

The family received friends Saturday from noon to 8 p.m. at Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home in Kennesaw.

Pallbearers are Tony Parker, James Parker, John Davis Jr., Mike Davis, John Davis III and Steve Steele.

Honorary Pallbearers are Stephen Steele, Tim Summerfield, Casey Davis, Cory Pelfrey, Nick Hann and Brandon Dilbeck.

Donna Sue Barnette

Ms. Donna Sue Barnette, 56, of 152 Creele Drive, Lithia Springs, Ga., passed away Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2009, in Douglasville following an illness of over a year.

She was born in Cartersville on Feb. 6, 1953, a daughter of Wilson Barnette and Betty Duncan Barnette.

Ms. Barnette grew up in the Cartersville and Atlanta area and attended Brown High School.

At the time of her illness, she was associated with Motel 6 of Marietta as an assistant manager.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Michelle Arnold, Acworth; a son, Mr. Ronnie Rowland Jr., Acworth; mother, Mrs. Betty Jean Slade, Acworth; sister, Cheryl Tant, Cartersville; brothers, Don Barnette Sr. and wife Patricia, Cartersville, Billy Barnette and wife Charlene, Dallas, Ricky Barnette, Cartersville, and Ronnie Barnette, Cartersville; three grandchildren, Michael Arnold, Amber Arnold and Sarah Rowland.

Memorial services were held Saturday, Feb. 28, at 1 p.m. in the chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home, with family and friends delivering eulogies.

The Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Helen Frances Edwards Brown

Helen Frances Edwards Brown, 78, of Maple Ridge, Cartersville, died Friday, Feb. 27, 2009.

Mrs. Brown was born May 2, 1930 in Bartow County, the daughter of Jessie R. and Emma Hufstetler Wiley, was retired from Union Carbide Corporation and a member of Rowland Springs Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, I.J. Edwards, her second husband, Eugene Brown, a sister, Peggy Sue Wiley and her beloved aunt, Berta Butler.

Surviving are children, Phyllis and Steve Sanford of Adairsville, Donald and Alma Edwards of Cartersville; grandchildren, Melissa (Jason)Green, David (Nikki) Sanford, Shawn Sanford, Jenny Sanford, Misty (Mike) Roman, Crystal (Tony) Amos, Donald R. Edwards; step-grandchildren,Pablo and Daniella Rubio; great-grandchildren, Jared, Justin and Jaxon Green, Megan and April Sanford, Kiera and Bryson Amos, Jeremy and Josh Edwards, Mat Roman and Eli Rubio; great-great-grandchild, Jaylin Simpson; and a very special cousin, Jo Anne Rogers of Cartersville.

Funeral services will be held Monday, March 2, 2009 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Owen Funeral Home with James Casteel and Rev. Donnie Summey officiating.

Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday afternoon and evening from 2 to 8 p.m.

Pallbearers will be Donald R. Edwards, Mike Roman, Matthew Roman, Pablo Rubio, David Sanford, Shawn Sanford, Jason Green and Larry Smith.

Owen Funeral Home, 12 Collins Drive, Cartersville, is in charge of the arrangements.

Billy Eubanks

Billy Eubanks, 74, of Douglasville passed away Sunday, March 1, 2009, at the Wellstar Douglas Hospital in Douglasville.

Born May 26, 1934, in Powder Springs, he was the son of the late Ralph Eubanks and the late Agnes McDonald Eubanks.

He was preceded in death by his parents and by his daughter, Patty Eubanks.

Billy was a veteran of the United States Army. He was awarded a purple heart due to wounds he received while serving in the Korean War.

He had retired from Austell Box Board where he had been employed as a supervisor.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Jane Eubanks; his children and their spouses, Clyde and Angie Eubanks of Mobile, Ala., Clint and Joy Eubanks of Clarksdale, Cindy and Dale Giddens of Adairsville, Carl Eubanks of Lithia Springs, Carmen and Floyd Hardin of Adairsville, and Ken Eubanks of Adairsville; his brother, Maxie Eubanks of Carrollton; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday with times to be announced in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services with Rev. Lee Garland officiating.

Burial with military honors will follow in the Georgia National Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p. m. Monday at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 430 Cassville Road, Cartersville.
