Miss Margaret Calloway

Funeral services for Miss Margaret Calloway of 407 Marguerite St., will be Saturday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Mackey-Wilson-Jennings Funeral Home. The Rev. Titus Roberson will officiate with burial in Southview Cemetery.
Miss Calloway, a native of Chambers County, Ala., was the daughter of the late Mack and Lillie Pearl Smith Calloway. She was a restaurant cook, a sitter and a member of Pine Grove Methodist Church ion LaFayette, Ala.
Survivors include a sister, Annie Calloway of LaGrange; nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
A service by Mackey-Wilson-Jennings Funeral Home.

Mrs. Avie E. Martin

Mrs. Avie E. Martin, 93, a former resident of Brian Center Nursing Care, died this morning at Hospice LaGrange after several months of declining health.
Hunter-Allen-Myhand Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Blonde Della Russell

Funeral services for Mrs. Blonde Della Cameron Brown Russell, 111, of 675 Old Field Road in Franklin will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Rising Grove Baptist Church at 209 East Crovat St. The Rev. Jesse Adams will officiate with burial in the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery on Old Field Road in Franklin.
Mrs. Russell was born October 5, 1886 in Troup County, the daughter of the late Blount Felt and Lela Cameron. She was a very faithful and dedicated member of the Rising Grove Baptist Church and she was also united with Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church where she served. She was the widow of the late Simpson Brown and also Amos Russell. She was preceded in death by a son, Lewis Brown; two daughters-in-law, Mrs. Ollie Brown and Mrs. Nellie Mae Brown; and two sons-in-law Raleigh Dixon and Willie Bell.
Survivors include five daughters, Mrs. Josie Bell of Louisville Ky., Mrs. Lela Mae Treadwell, Mrs. Sara Dixon and Mrs. Eva Dell Pless, all of Franklin, and Mrs. Ether Edwards of Dayton, Ohio; two sons, Roy Brown of Atlanta and Booker T. Brown Sr. of Franklin; two sons-in-law, Sander Pless and Quillian Hearn; 20 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren , 24 great-great-grandchildren and a number of nieces, nephews, cousin and other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends this evening from 7 to 9 at Lakes-Dunson-Robertson Funeral Home.

Mrs. Dorothy (Dot) Hill

Mrs. Dorothy (Dot) Hill, 69, of 3061/2 Harwell Ave., died Thursday at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Denise and Billy Foster, at 216 Leisure Cove Drive, following a lengthy illness.
Mrs. Hill, born on June 1, 1928, had lived in LaGrange all her life and was the daughter of the late Robert Frank and Pearl Lowery Hanner. She was a homemaker and a member of First Assembly of God.
Survivors include her husband, Hoyt Hill of LaGrange; two daughters, Deborah Ann Hemmings and Denise Foster, both of LaGrange; three sisters, Lillie Pearl Washington of Jacksonville, Fla., and Margaret Kent and Annie Kate Shepard, both of LaGrange; a brother, Bobby Richard Hanner of LaGrange; six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Hunter-Allen-Myhand Funeral Home with the Rev. Steve Comer officiating. Burial will be in Shadowlawn Cemetery.
The family will be at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Deborah Ann and Kenneth Hemmings, at 1325 Washington St., and will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 until 8 this evening.

Mrs. Mildred Smith

Mrs. Mildred Reynolds Smith, 82, a former resident of 102 West Meadoway Drive and a former resident of Brian Center Nursing Care, died this morning at Hospice LaGrange following a brief illness.
Mrs. Smith, born on September 25, 1915 in Chattanooga, Tenn., had lived in LaGrange most of her life and was the daughter of the late William Joseph and Lovie Duke Reynolds. She was retired from Callaway Mills Company and was a former employee of Brian Center Nursing Care. She was a 1932 graduate of Handley High School in Roanoke, Ala., a member of Grace Fellowship and a former Sunday school teacher at Dunson United Methodist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Paula Anne Smith of LaGrange; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Hillis A. Smith Jr., Vernon M. and Pat Smith, and Jack Reynolds and Brenda Smith, all of LaGrange; five grandchildren, Hillis A. Smith III of Lansdale, Penn., Jonathan Alan Smith of Ellicott City, Md., Vernon M. Smith Jr. of Wilmington, N.C., Debra Smith Jones of Albany and Christopher Shannon Smith of Five Points, Ala.; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Hunter-Allen-Myhand Funeral Home with the Rev. Burt H. Hunter officiating. Burial will be in Shadowlawn Cemetery.
The family members will be at their respective homes and will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 6 until 8 p.m.

Mrs. Julia Mae Franklin

Funeral services for Mrs. Julia Mae Franklin of 105 Cooley Road will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at St. Paul Baptist Church on Union Street. The Rev. Felton James will officiate with burial in Southview Cemetery,
Mrs. Franklin was a native of Troup County and a member of St. Paul Baptist Church. She graduated from East Depot High School and retired as a food service employee with the LaGrange City School System with over 40 years of service.
Survivors include three daughters, Dorothy Hardnett and Janice (Randy) Copeland, both of LaGrange, and Sandra (Michael) Herbert of San Jose, Calif.; four sisters, Margaret Dunson of LaGrange, Mrs. Nettie Johnson of Atlanta, Mrs. Lillian Triplett of Dayton, Ohio, and Mrs. Mary (Joe) Favors of Decatur; son-in-law, James Hardnett Sr.; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at her home at 105 Cooley Road.
West Georgia Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Avie E. Martin

Mrs. Avie E. Martin, 93, formerly of 443 Cooley Road died Friday at Hospice LaGrange following several months of declining health.
Mrs. Martin, born December 7, 1904, in Randolph County, Ala., was the daughter of the late Hulen and Mattie Truiett Martin. She had lived in LaGrange for the past 47 years and was a homemaker and a member of Hilyer Baptist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Bernice Martin and Modenia Smith, both of LaGrange; five sons, Harlen Martin, Olin Martin, Carlen Martin, Hollis Martin and Rodney Martin, all of LaGrange, 19 grandchildren, 47 great-grandchildren, 32 great-great-grandchildren, and a niece. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry A. Martin; a daughter, Dura Walters; and a son, Edward Martin.
Funeral services will be Sunday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Hunter-Allen-Myhand Funeral Home with Dr. Ralph Taylor officiating. Burial will be in Gold Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery in Randolph County, Ala.
The family will be at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Rodney and Debra Martin, at 692 Hammett Road and will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 until 8 this evening.

James Samuel Bassett

James Samuel Bassett, 63, of Franklin died Friday at West Georgia Medical Center following a brief illness.
Mr. Bassett, born on January 8, 1935, in Randolph County, Ala., was the son of the late Woodrow Wilson and Vera Bassett. He had lived in Franklin most of his life and was a member of Paran Baptist Church and a self-employed carpenter.
Survivors include his wife, Faye Endress Bassett of Franklin; three sons, James Rodney Bassett and Malcolm Bassett, both of Wadley, Ala., and Jason Bassett of Franklin; a brother, B.J. Bassett of Roberta; and two grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. CST in the chapel of Quattlebaum Funeral Home in Roanoke with the Revs. Mark Barlow, Bobby Kirby and Gerald Sheppard officiating. Burial will be in Randolph Memory Gardens in Roanoke.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home until 9 this evening.

L.B. Wallace

L.B. Wallace, 90, of Cuthbert died Friday at his home.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Miriam Moore Wallace of Cuthbert; two sons, Charles Wallace and Billy Wallace both of LaGrange; three daughters, Deanne Wallace of Cuthbert, Jane W. Snipes of Social Circle, and Harriett Kirkpatrick of Dawson; 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Loyd E. Kern

Funeral services for Loyd E. Kern, 72, of Grantville will be at 4 p.m. Sunday at the First Baptist Church of Grantville with the Rev. Chris King officiating.
Mr. Kern lived in Dade City, Fla., for many years before making his home in Grantville in 1990. He was a retired electrician and a member of the First Baptist Church of Grantville.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Geneva Kern; two daughters, Mrs. Darlene Cole of Grantville and Mrs. Cathy Southern of Walnut Cove, N.C.; a son, Chris Kern of Dade City; a sister, Mrs. Dorothy Marks; two brothers, Charles Kern and Curtis Kern, all of Miami, Fla.; 16 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 until 9 tonight at the Claude A. McKibben & Sons Funeral Home.

Mrs. Flora Cameron

Funeral services for Mrs. Flora Ellen Cameron of 805 park Avenue will be Sunday at 3 p.m. at Roe’s Chapel United Methodist Church in Whitesville. The Revs. Julian Carter and Donald T. Barber will officiate with burial in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Cameron, a native of Harris County, was the widow of the late Henry Lee Cameron and the daughter of Mrs. Mary Johnson and the late Willie Johnson. She was member of Roe’s Chapel United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her loving mother, Mrs. Mary L. Johnson of Whitesville; nine devoted children which includes six sons, Earl Cameron of Columbus, Carl (Sharon) Cameron of Roanoke, Ala., and Kenneth Cameron, Michael (Connie) Cameron, Gregory (Joyce) Cameron and Randy (Ann) Cameron, all of LaGrange; three daughters, Miss Kathy Cameron, Miss Robin Cameron and Mrs. Betty (Robin) Brown, all of LaGrange; three devoted aunts, Mrs. Rena Campbell, Mrs. Nettie Bankston and Mrs. Ada Ruth Hodo; two brothers, Willie Paul Johnson and Phillip Johnson of Whitesville; five sisters, Mrs. Willie Leonard, Mrs. Mary Adams, Mrs. Vennice Williams, Mrs. Lona (Fred) Crawl, all of Whitesville, and Mrs. Juanita (Sonny) Leverette of Pine Mountain; 16 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, three additional aunts and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The family will receive friends at Lakes-Dunson-Robertson Funeral Home from 6 until 8 this evening.

Homer (Bill) Carter

Homer (Bill) Carter, 72, of 57 Fling Road died Sunday at Brian Center Nursing Care following a lengthy illness.
Mr. Carter, born September 27, 1925, in Tallapoosa, Ala., was the son of the late Jim Homer and Evie Meadows Carter. He had lived in LaGrange since 1945 and retired from Duncan Stewart Plant of Milliken & Company after 36 years of service. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a member of Oakside Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Demeris Carter of LaGrange; two daughters, Sara Fowler and Elaine Howard, both of LaGrange; a son, David Carter of LaGrange; a sister, Virb C. Spates of Opelika, Ala.; a brother, John Carter of LaGrange; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. (EST) in Lebanon Christian Church Cemetery in Randolph County, Ala., with the Rev. S.T. Janney and Dr. Ralph Taylor officiating.
The family will be at their home at 57 Fling Road and will receive friends at Hunter-Allen-Myhand Funeral Home this evening from 7 until 9.

Jesse J. Pruett Jr.

Jesse J. Pruett Jr., 71, of Stone Mountain, formerly of LaGrange, died Saturday at DeKalb Medical Center in Decatur.
Mr. Pruett, born on July 20, 1924, in Troup County, was the son of Jesse James Sr. and Thelma Grace Street Pruett. He was retired from Eastern Airlines as an air freight agent and was a veteran of World War II having served in the Army in the Pacific Theater as a master sergeant.
Survivors include his wife, Maria Pruett of Canada; a daughter and son-in-law, Sue Ellen and Geep Cunningham of Toccoa; two sons and daughters-in-law; Frank and Pam Pruett of LaGrange and Jim and Karen Pruett of New London, N.C.; nine grandchildren; one aunt, Pearl Pruett of LaGrange; and several cousins.
Graveside services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. in Shadowlawn Cemetery with Pastor Clayton Scott officiating.
The family will be at the home of his son and daughter-in-law, Frank and Pam Pruett, at 212 Brookstone Drive and will receive friends at their home.
Hunter-Allen-Myhand Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Miss Jeanette Butler, 57, of 160 Memory Lane died this morning at West Georgia Medical Center after a brief illness.

Mrs. Mary Grant

Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Arrington Grant, 71, a former resident of Park Hill Drive, died Saturday at West Georgia Medical Center following a lengthy illness.
Mrs. Grant, the daughter of the late James Daniel and Dora Elma Moore Arrington, was born June 4, 1926, in LaGrange and had lived here all of her life. She was a member of the First Baptist Church on the Square.
Survivors include a sister, Mrs. E.L. (Edna) Arrington Rice of LaGrange; a brother, Frank J. Arrington of Atlanta; a niece, Emily R. Ewell of West Point; a nephew, John B. Rice of LaGrange, three great-nephews and a great-niece.
Graveside services will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. in Spring Hill Cemetery in Lynchburg, Va.
The family will receive friends at Hunter-Allen-Myhand Funeral Home from 4 p.m. until 5:30 this afternoon. A brief service will be at 5:30 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Richard Shiver officiating.
The family respectfully requests that all flowers be omitted and those desiring contribute to an organization of their choice in memory of Mrs. Grant.
