Mary Beatrice Hendon

Mary Beatrice Hendon, age 89, of McDonough, Georgia, died February 19, 2009. She was born in Cherokee County to the late Elsberry and Rebecca May Dobbs Biddy. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Zeddie D. Hendon.

Mrs. Hendon is survived by her sons, Jerry D. Hendon of Riverdale and Michael R. Hendon of McDonough; siblings, Erminee Lamanac of Woodstock, Sandra Pope of Powder Springs, Clifford Biddy of Marietta, J.C. Biddy of Powder Springs; 6 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held on February 22 at The Chapel of Cannon Cleveland Funeral Di-rectors, with Rev. Brad Blanton officiating. Interment followed at Crest Lawn Memorial Park. Cannon Cleveland Funeral Di-rectors.

Gregory Lane Berger

Gregory Lane Berger, age 51 of Atlanta, Georgia, passed away February 19, 2009. He was born in Atlanta to the late Fred Ernest Berger. Greg had a great personality, was a hard worker, enjoyed computers, his two cats, Pumpkin and Baby and was previous owner of Gregory’s in Hampton. He is survived by his beloved mother, Mary Ellen (Edward) Am-brose of McDonough; brother, Fred (Joyce) Ernest Berger, Jr. of McDonough; sister, Mary Rebecca (Frank) Pryor of Fayetteville; nephews, John Berger of Atlanta and Beau (Julie) Kelley of McDonough; niece, Jennifer (Tucker) Perkerson of McDonough.

Funeral services were held February 24 at the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home, Keith Archiball and Julane Mangum officiating. Haisten Funeral Home, 770-914-8833.

Leon Stowers

Leon Stowers, of McDonough, Gerogia, age 64, died February 21, 2009. Son of the late Lonnie Glen Stowers, he was a self-employed handyman. Mr. Stowers enjoyed being outdoors, especially hunting and fishing.

Survivors include his wife, Brenda Stowers of McDonough; daughters, Krystal Stowers of McDonough, Lelonia Stowers; sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Angel Stowers of Con-cord, David and Katherine Stowers of Fayetteville, Steven and Jennifer Stowers of Concord; 15 grandchildren; mother, Etoleu Stowers of Jonesboro.

Funeral services for Mr. Stowers were held Tuesday, February 24, at the Access Road chapel of Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, with interment in Lawnwood Memorial Park. The family would appreciate donations in memory of Leon Stowers be made at any United Bank location. Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, Covington.

Anna Lester Credelle

Anna Lester Credelle, age 79, of McDonough, Georgia, passed away, February 22, 2009. Mrs. Credelle was born in Henry County, the daughter of the late Pearl Cothran and Rosser Lester. Mrs. Credelle served her country in the U.S. Air Force in communications during the Korean War. She was a master beautician, and worked for the Georgia Forestry Dept. Mrs. Credelle enjoyed traveling, camping, golf and cooking. She is survived by her son, William “Billy” Credelle of McDonough; daughter, Theresa Mills of Florida; granddaughter, Billie Jane Cummings serving in the US Army.

A graveside service for Mrs. Credelle was held February 24 at Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Alvie Rodgers officiating. Haisten Funeral Home, 770-914-8833

Lloyd Earl Hand

Lloyd Earl Hand, age 56, passed away in Walnut Creek, California, on Thursday, February 5, 2009. Born December 9, 1952 to the late David and Delila Hand, he was raised in McDonough along with siblings Lesley, Alicia, and Chris. Best known for flying squirrels and rattlesnakes, frog-gigging and barbeque, horses, dice and a whole lot of luck, Mr. Hand imparted a life and a joy of life rarely known. He was first to lend a hand, offer an invitation, or say “Let’s go!” His heart was open, his arms were warm, and his wit was sharp. Mr. Hand was quick with a magic trick, a pistol, and a pocketknife. His word was his bond. His handshake was true and he would do anything for you.

He is survived by daughter, Katherine and Jim Freeman; grandchildren, Eva, James, and Faith Freeman; brothers, Lesley Hand of Lafayette, California and Chris (Sharon) Hand of McDonough, sister, Alicia (Rickey) Fulton of Conyers, long-time companion, Sharon Barrecca, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

A remembrance of Mr. Hand will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 28, at Flippen Methodist Church, 3707 Jodeco Road, McDonough, with fellowship to follow. Clifford Charles Lovejoy

Clifford Charles Lovejoy, age 90, of Locust Grove, Georgia, passed away February 9, 2009. He was born in Cabin Creek, West Virginia, to the late Charles Elden and Ida Williams Lovejoy. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rhunell Johnson Lovejoy and siblings, Gaylin Lovejoy, Mary Hammond, Helen Hooper, Frances Williams, and Dorothy Boaz. He served his country in the United States Army Air Corp during WWII as a flight engineer on the B-17 and retired after 37 years from Civil Service. He attended the Atlanta Technical School and had a Macon radio show in the 1930’s called the Coal Mountain Boys. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Survivors include his son, Charles (Helen) Lovejoy of Locust Grove; six grandchildren and six great grandchildren; brothers, Tommy Lovejoy of Bowersville, Ohio, Kenny Lovejoy of Fairborn, Ohio; sister, Sylvia Spahir of Jamestown, Ohio.

Funeral services were conducted February 13 at the Chapel of Haisten Funeral Home. Interment followed at Forest Hills Memorial Gardens. Haisten Funeral Home, 770-914-8833.

George W. Guill

George W. Guill, age 90, of Stockbridge, Georgia died Feb-ruary 11, 2009. Mr. Guill was born in Poplar Bluff, Missouri to the late Thomas J. and Minervia Bonifield Guill. He served his country for 31 years with the

U.S. Army in World War II, Korea, and Vietnam. He was very fond of helping people. Giving candy to most anyone, he acquired the nickname "The Candy Man,” which was one of his greatest joys. Most important to him was his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his daughters, Susan Alyce Wheatly in 1997 and Elizabeth Guill, who died at birth.

Mr. Guill is survived by his daughters, Georgeanne Pardini of Dacula, and Jennifer Thomas of Stockbridge; 10 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

Inurnment services were held on February 17 at Georgia National Cemetery, Canton, with Rev. Brooks Everett officiating. Donations may be made to the Carolina Children's Home, 3201 Trenholm Road, Columbia, SC 29204 in Mr. Guill's memory. Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors.
