Mrs. Dorene Porter

CHAPIN, S.C. -- Mrs. Dorene Cohoon Porter, 67, of 2167 Amicks Ferry Road, died Thursday, Jan. 15, 1998, at Lexington Medical Center.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Westminster Presbyterian Church, Columbia, with the Revs. George T. Head and Woody Hammert officiating.

Mrs. Porter, a native of St. Thomas, Ontario, Canada, was retired from the University of South Carolina Baptist Student Union as a secretary. She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church and a volunteer with Riverbanks Zoo, Columbia, and Lexington Medical Center.

Survivors include her husband, Robert Porter; two sons, Steve Cohoon, Augusta, and F. Scott Cohoon, Chapin; one daughter, Kelley Twitty, Cayce; four stepdaughters, Mary Parsons, Nashville, Tenn., Melinda Butler, Lexington, Beth Bryda, Chicago, and Ellan Porter, Clearwater, Fla.; and 17 grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Westminster Presbyterian Church, 1715 Broad River Road, Columbia, SC 29210; or Riverbanks Zoo Society, Columbia, SC 29210.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. today at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Chapin.

Mr. James Redwine Sr.

Retiree

CRAWFORDVILLE, Ga. -- Mr. James M. Redwine Sr., 77, of 238 Thompson St. S.E., died Friday, Jan. 16, 1998, at University Hospital, Augusta.

The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Crawfordville Baptist Church with the Rev. Jimmy Waters officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mr. Redwine Sr., a native of Atlanta, was retired from Hubcap Daddy and was a Merchant Marine. He was a member of Crawfordville Baptist Church and Greensboro Country Club.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Bird Redwine; one son, James M. Redwine Jr., Luthersville; two daughters, Joyce R. Ozmont, Forrest Park, and Lori R. Yearwood, Crawfordville; and eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Crawfordville Baptist Church.

The family will receive friends from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. today at Hopkins Funeral Home, Washington.

Mr. Robert Reese Jr.

Carpenter

THOMSON -- Mr. Robert Russell Reese Jr., 27, of 264 Pine Dale Lane, died Thursday, Jan. 15, 1998, at McDuffie County Hospital.

The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Curtis Funeral Home with the Revs. Ficklin Guinn and James C. Elder Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Reese, a native of Richmond County, had lived in Thomson most of his life and was a carpenter.

Survivors include one son, Robert Russell Reese III, Thomson; one daughter, Megan Reese, Thomson; his parents, Robert ``Bobby'' and Linda Reese, Thomson; one brother, Joe Buffington, Thomson; one sister, Donna Higdon, Charleston; his paternal grandmother, Georgia Mae Reese, Thomson; and his maternal grandmother, Rebecca Gobble, Thomson.

Pallbearers will be Buck Anderson, Tim Cosby, Jay Harrison, Ricky Johnson, Danny Cosby and Billy Bonner.

Friends may call at the residence or Curtis Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mrs. Frances Rhodes

Retired cook

WASHINGTON, Ga. -- Mrs. Frances Rhodes, 82, of 124 Union Point Road, died Monday, Jan. 12, 1998.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. today at New Salem Baptist Church with the Revs. Frank Sherrer and R.L. Reynolds officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Rhodes, a native of Crawfordville, was retired as a cook with Woolworth's and was a member of New Salem Baptist Church.

Survivors include one brother, Clarence Sherrer, Atlanta; and two sisters, Alice Wright and Nancy Reynolds, both of Atlanta.

Friends may call at the residence of Alzie Steaples.

McLendon Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Ms. Stephanie Roberts

SYLVANIA, Ga. -- Ms. Stephanie Ann Roberts, 41, of 1490 Hiltonia-Perkins Road, died Wednesday, Jan. 14, 1998, at Medical College of Georgia Hospital, Augusta.

The funeral will be at 12:30 p.m. Sunday at St. Andrews United Methodist Church with the Rev. Flory Ward officiating. Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery.

Ms. Roberts, a native of Screven County, was an employee of Jockey International, Millen, and a member of Little Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church.

Survivors include two sons, Jakima Auleviss Roberts and ZeMar Delvar Roberts, both of Sylvania; four sisters, Melva Sessions, Charleston, S.C., Catherine Price, Columbia, Gloria Williams, Summerville, S.C., and Louise Murray, Sylvania; her father, Richard Murray, Cocoa, Fla.; her mother, Katie Roberts, Sylvania; and one brother, Curtis Roberts.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. today at Booker T. Scott Memorial Chapel.

Sylvania Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. John D. Schoultz

Mr. John D. Schoultz Jr., 58, of 1617 Luckey St., died Thursday, Jan. 15, 1998, at Medical College of Georgia Hospital.

The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Bethlehem Baptist Church with the Rev. Arthur Kemp officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mr. Schoultz, a native of Edgefield County, S.C., was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Mattie Schoultz; four sons, Michael Schoultz, Calvin Schoultz, James Schoultz and Alphonso Schoultz; three daughters, Alice Schoultz, Terri Shores and Sabrina Schoultz; one stepdaughter, Bernice Thurmond; two brothers, Jimmie Schoultz and Jerry Schoultz; three sisters, Rosa S. Butler, Ernestine S. Thurmond and Shirley Schoultz; his maternal grandmother, Rosa Williams; and nine grandchildren.

Friends may call at 1536 Aiken Ave., North Augusta, or G.L. Brightharp and Sons Mortuary, North Augusta.

Mrs. Jane Vancil

WARRENVILLE -- Mrs. Jane deMedicis Vancil, 78, of 129 deMedicis Blvd., died Thursday, Jan. 15, 1998, at Aiken Regional Medical Centers.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Pentecost United Methodist Church with the Revs. Jim Covington and Herbert Thomas officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Vancil, a native of Manchester, Ga., was a homemaker and a member of Pentecost United Methodist Church, where she was a member and had been president of United Methodist Women, served as church historian and Sunday school teacher, and had been director of Methodist Youth Fellowship. She was a member of two citizens band radio clubs, C.B. Cats and C.B. Helpers, where her C.B. name was South Carolina Mockingbird.

Survivors include her husband, Russell Vancil; one daughter, Vicki A. Davis, Warrenville; one brother, George P. deMedicis, Warrenville; and two granddaughters and one great-grandchild.

Pallbearers will be Hebert Hurst, George Alvin deMedicis, Claude Head, Keith Jowers, Tom Walker and Al deMedicis.

Pallbearers will be members of United Methodist Women.

Memorials may be made to Pentecost United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 578, Warrenville.

Friends may call at the residence of Vicki Davis, 499 Legion Road.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Hatcher Funeral Home, Langley.

Mrs. Lexie Woodard

AIKEN -- Mrs. Lexie P. Woodard, 84, of 1331 Aldrich St., died Thursday, Jan. 15, 1998, at her residence.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Fred W. Andrea III officiating. Burial will be private.

Mrs. Woodard, a native of Franklin, La., was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Daniel ``Dan'' Woodard; four sons, Arch Woodard, Burnsville, N.C., George Woodard, Manhattan Beach, Calif., Mike Woodard, Aiken, and Bill Woodard, St. Claire, Mich.; one daughter, Susan Gipson, Highland City, Fla.; and 11 grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, c/o Lottie Moon offering, P.O. Box 3157, Aiken, SC 29802.

WAYNESBORO, Ga. -- Mrs. Irene Brown, 46, of 1030 U.S. Highway 80 W., died Tuesday, Jan. 13, 1998, at St. Joseph Hospital, Augusta.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. today at Fielding Spring Baptist Church, Augusta, with the Rev. Gilbert Howard officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Brown, a native of Miami, was a cosmetologist and a member of Fielding Spring Baptist Church.

Survivors include one son, Kacee Brown; her father, Clarence Brown Sr.; two brothers, Clarence Brown Jr. and Robert Brown; and two sisters, Christine Brown and Levancy Brown.

Pallbearers will be her nephews.

Honorary pallbearers will be deacons of Fielding Spring Baptist Church.

Friends may call at the residence.
