Mr. Robert Smith
HEPHZIBAH -- Mr. Robert Jerry Smith, 49, of 194 Oakhill Drive, died Monday, Jan. 19, 1998, in Burke County.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Poteet Funeral Home, Peach Orchard Road.
Mr. Smith, a native of Jefferson County, was retired from the Army and was a Baptist. He was a maintenance employee with Gracewood State School and Hospital.
Survivors include his wife, Kumcha Smith; three sons, Bobby T. Taylor, Hephzibah, Rusty J. Smith, Pelham, Ala., and Don Taylor, Augusta; one daughter, Sunny J. Smith, Mobile, Ala.; four brothers, Henry Wayne Smith and Clifton C. Smith, both of Birmingham, Ala., Johnny B. Smith, Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Henry Clifton Smith Jr., Ranger; two sisters, Mary Frances Raney, Austin, Texas, and Judy Ann Rouse, Kimberly, Ala.; and three grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be members of the U.S. Honor Guard.

Mrs. Myrtle Robinson
WAGENER -- Mrs. Myrtle Lee Williams Robinson, 87, of 200 Railroad Ave. W., died Tuesday, Jan. 20, 1998, at her residence.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Saron Baptist Church with the Rev. Rudolph C. Mayes officiating. Burial will be in Barr Cemetery.
Mrs. Robinson, a native of Aiken County, was co-owner of Robinson Funeral Home and Robinson Grocery Store. She was a member of Saron Baptist Church, where she served on the deaconess board and gospel choir, and co-founded the junior choir. She was a member of the Eastern Star, the Benevolent Zion Sons and Daughters Society and the Union Progress Society.
Survivors include one son, Bernard Robinson, Wagener; two daughters, Barney L. Greene, Thomson, and Betty L. Rivers, Goose Creek; and nine grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons.

Mr. George Oliver Sr.
HEPHZIBAH -- Mr. George H. Oliver Sr., of 3656 Woodlake Road, died Thursday, Jan. 15, 1998, at Columbia Augusta Medical Center.
Mr. Oliver, a native of Massillon, Ohio, was a retired painter and a Navy veteran.
Survivors include five sons, Michael Driver, George H. Oliver Jr. and Curtis B. Strawder, all of Massillon, Bruce R. Oliver, Pasadena, Calif, and Cedric C. Strawder, Augusta; 10 daughters, Carol Johnson, Paulette Gordon, Mary Ann Williams, Shequita Porter and Sheronda Moorehead, all of Massillon, Rechelle Stokes, Shejuanis Strawder and Eunice Ramirez, all of Pasadena, Sabrina Strawder, Las Vegas, and Sonya Frank, Conroe, Texas; and 33 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Carrie McElmurray
AIKEN -- Mrs. Carrie G. McElmurray, 83, died Tuesday, Jan. 20, 1998.
A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Saturday in St. John's Methodist Church with the Revs. George S. Duffie and Kenneth Nelson officiating.
Mrs. McElmurray, a native of North Augusta, was a homemaker and a member of St. John's Methodist Church.
Survivors include three sons, James Herndon McElmurray Jr., Charleston, Warren Graybill McElmurray, West Union, and Charles Nicholas McElmurray, Tampa, Fla.; three daughters, Carolyn Williams, Bishopville, Sylvia Norris, Trenton, and Florence McElmurray, Aiken; and 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Mr. W. Clint Martin
NORTH AUGUSTA -- Mr. W. Clint Martin, 76, died Tuesday, Jan. 20, 1998, at National Healthcare.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Poteet Funeral Home with the Revs. Robert Ledbetter and Jerry Matthews officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Hills Cemetery.
Mr. Martin, a native of Augusta, was a retired salesman with B and B Lumber Co. and was a member of First Baptist Church of North Augusta, where he was a member of M.P. Campbell Sunday School Class.
The family said he loved people and was a well respected member of the community.
Survivors include two sons, Tandy Presnell, Waycross, Ga., and Jim Presnell, Cleveland, Ga.; one daughter, Nancy P. West, Springfield; one brother, Oscar Martin, Belvedere; and 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Julian Head, Earl Saggus, Ray Hitt, Bill Scott, Jimmy Bell and Asa Daniel.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the M.P. Sunday Scholl Class.

Mr. Andrew Mance
THOMSON, Ga. -- Mr. Andrew Feggan Mance, 85, died Sunday, Jan. 18, 1998, at McDuffie County Hospital.
The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Mount Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. A. McKinley Royal officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mr. Mance, a native of McDuffie County, was a mechanic and a member of Mount Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church.
Survivors include one stepson, Joshua Hill, Kileen, Texas; two stepdaughters, Mary Frances Hill, Thomson, and Annie L. Harmon, Atlanta; and 12 grandchildren.

Mr. Joseph Anderson
Civil service retiree
Mr. Joseph McRoy ``Roy'' Anderson, 77, of 1731 Hicks St., died Thursday, Jan. 22, 1998, at University Hospital.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Crawford Avenue Baptist Church with the Rev. William L. Owens officiating. Burial will be in West View Cemetery.
Mr. Anderson, a native of Blythe, had retired from the civil service at Fort Gordon and was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of Crawford Avenue Baptist Church, where he served as vice president and song leader of the Faithful Ones, deacon, and as teacher of Kings Messenger Sunday School Class. He attended the Georgia Institute of Technology. He had been chaplin of the Fourth Infantry Division and chief of the ammunition section at Fort Gordon.
Survivors include his wife, Deona Beckum Anderson; one son, Joseph McRoy Anderson Jr., Appling; three daughters, Diane A. Schlein and Debbie A. Jones, both of Augusta, and Denise A. Sherrill, Martinez; three brothers, John T. Anderson Jr., William A. Anderson and Richard L. Anderson; and seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Pallbearers will be Bill Cox, Bill Holsonbake, Hugh Lord, Owen Sims, Joe Thompson and H.B. Warren.

Mrs. Jessie Beck
Mrs. Jessie Mae Beck, 78, of 3416 Toms Drive, died Wednesday, Jan. 21, 1998, at University Hospital.
Graveside services will be at noon Saturday in Hillcrest Memorial Park with the Rev. J.S. Wright officiating.
Mrs. Beck, a native of Allendale, S.C., was a retired beautician and had been employed by Georgia Regional Hospital. She was the former owner of Beck's Beauty Shop and a member of Macedonia Baptist Church.
Survivors include one son, Carroll Beck, Augusta; four daughters, Sallie Merriweather, Clearwater, Deloris Dawkins, Memphis, Tenn., and Mary Cave and Ann Trent, both of Augusta; one brother, Johnnie Williams, Beaufort, S.C.; and 26 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Willie Blount
DENVER -- Mr. Willie Marion Blount, 39, of 8179 Loretta Drive, died Friday, Jan. 16, 1998, at Rose Medical Center.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Morning Star Baptist Church, Augusta, with the Rev. William Bussey officiating. Burial will be in St. Clair Church Cemetery, St. Clair, Ga.
Mr. Blount was a 1976 graduate of Lucy C. Laney High School, Augusta, and was a member of the JROTC. He was a graduate of North Georgia College, Dahlonega, Ga., and Augusta College. He served in the Army and was a member of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People. He was a Mason and a member of Big Buddies of America. He was a Realtor, businessman and financial consultant.
Survivors include his parents, William Blount Sr. and Mary E. Blount, both of Augusta; two brothers, John Blount, Augusta, and William Blount III, Baton Rouge, La.; and three sisters, Betty Palmer and Lillie Blount, both of Augusta, and Melba Stewart, Baltimore.
