Mr. Jerome Patterson

Mr. Jerome B. Patterson, 67, died Thursday, Jan. 29, 1998, at St. Joseph Hospital.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Hillcrest Memorial Park with the Rev. John Page officiating.

Mr. Patterson, a native of Richmond County, was a retired linesman with Georgia Power. He was a Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War and a member of Marvin United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Alene Vaugh Patterson; one daughter, Alesa Higginbotham, Cumming, Ga.; five sisters, Annie Moore, Grovetown, Mary Deas and Eliza Parrish, both of Augusta, Janette Burkhart, Infield, Conn., and Josie Bolton, Fayetteville, Ga.; and two grandchildren

Pallbearers will be Mills Polatty, Walter Guilfoyle, Mark Herbert, Sam Way, Fred Gary and Anthony Bing.

Memorials may be made to St. Joseph Hospice or Marvin United Methodist Church.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Thomas L. King Funeral Home.

Mrs. Kelyn Sims

THOMSON -- Mrs. Kelyn E. Sims, 79, of Mount Pleasant Road, died Wednesday, Jan. 28, 1998, at McDuffie County Hospital.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. today at Curtis Funeral Home with the Rev. Jim Bennett officiating. Burial will be at 4 p.m. in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Augusta.

Mrs. Sims, a native of Woodbury, was a homemaker and a member of Cliffwood Presbyterian Church, Augusta.

Survivors include two daughters, Peg Sims Poss and Angele Sims Hurt, Birmingham, Ala.; one sister, Pearl Johnson, Columbus; and six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren

Friends may call at the funeral home.

Mrs. Louise Smyre

HEPHZIBAH -- Mrs. Louise J. Smyre of 3402 Knollcrest Road died Monday, Jan. 26, 1998, at Dwight D. Eisenhower Army Medical Center.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Franklin Covenant Baptist Church, Augusta, with the Rev. George Williams officiating. Burial will be in Mount Olive Memorial Gardens, Augusta.

Mrs. Smyre, a native of Jefferson County, was a homemaker and a member of Union Baptist Church and First Ebenezer Baptist Church.

Survivors include four sons, Tyrone Williams, Allen Williams and Russell Leon Smyre Jr., all of Garland, and Eugene Smyre, Hephzibah; seven daughters, Deborah Ann Kennedy, Killeen, Texas, Cheryl Darlene Reed, Sandra Elaine Reed, Dorothea Green and Clarecia Louise Wright, all of Hephzibah, Dorothy Walker, San Antonio, and Myrtle Bernice Fleeton, Stafford, Va.; one brother, Ike Johnson, Louisville; and two sisters, Lucille Peoples, Louisville, and Irene Hogg, Hephzibah

Mr. Richard Stagner

NEW YORK -- Mr. Richard Stagner, 66, of 159 Bay 29 St., died Saturday, Jan. 24, 1998, at Tisch Hospital.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. today in Ways Baptist Church Cemetery, Stellaville, Ga., with the Rev. Brian LaBurt officiating.

Mr. Stagner, a native of New York, was a newsstand operator and a Catholic. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War and a recipient of the Purple Heart.

James and Lowe Funeral Home, Wrens, Ga., is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Frances Steadman

RIDGESPRING, S.C. -- Mrs. Frances Anderson Steadman, 99, died Wednesday, Jan. 28, 1998.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Ridge Spring Methodist Church. Burial will be in Ridge Spring Cemetery.

Mrs. Steadman, a native of Spartanburg, was a member of Ridge Spring Methodist Church.

Survivors include one son, Richard A. Steadman, Johnston; two daughters, Elizabeth Watson, Ridge Spring and Patricia Hill, Gilbert; and 16 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren

Mr. Clarence Talbert

EDGEFIELD, S.C. -- Mr. Clarence Talbert, 54, of 414 Sourwood Drive, died Tuesday, Jan. 27, 1998, at Self Memorial Hospital, Greenwood.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Mount Moriah Baptist Church, Plum Branch, with the Revs. W.H. McCain and Ernest Gordon officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mr. Talbert, a native of Edgefield County, was a machine operator and attended the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses.

Survivors include his wife, Selma Bland Talbert; one son, Brian Talbert, Edgefield; two daughters, Helen Christina Talbert, Edgefield, and Stacy Simpkins, Sumter; three brothers, Troy Talbert, Edgefield, William Talbert, Johnston, and James Talbert, Washington; and eight sisters, Johnnie Mae Bowman, Beatrice Plater, Annie Mae Christi and Martha Walker, all of Edgefield, Georgia Lindsey, Aiken, Omelia Anderson, Johnston, Mildred Goodwin, Graniteville, and Alpha Carr, Maryland

Mr. Charles Walker

GOUGH, Ga. -- Mr. Charles Walker, 40, of 263 Broad St., died Sunday, Jan. 25, 1998, at Burke County Hospital.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Clair Baptist Church, Keysville, with the Rev. Joel Bennifield officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mr. Walker, a native of Burke County, was a machine operator with Boral Bricks and a member of St. Clair Baptist Church.

Survivors include one daughter, Charlette Tolbert, Vidette; his parents, Gene and Virginia Walker, Gough; four brothers, Willie James Hall, Boston, Thomas Hall, Sims Walker and Leon Walker, all of Augusta; three sisters, Fannie Mae Brown, Boston, Louise Rainey, Philadelphia, and Andean Walker, Gough; and his paternal grandmother, Fannie Walker, Gough

Pallbearers will be Elliott Hannah, Mose Walker, Reginald Jefferson, Wayne Williams and Jimmy Rouse Jr.

Mr. Vincent Dortenzo

NORTH AUGUSTA -- Mr. Vincent J. Dortenzo died Wednesday, Jan. 28, 1998, at University Hospital.

The funeral will be at noon today at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church with the Revs. Sandy McDonald and Peter Clarke officiating. Burial will be in private.

Mr. Dortenzo, a native of Pittsburgh, was retired from Savannah River Site with facilities management. He served in the Army and was a member of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church.

Survivors include his wife, Claudia R. Dortenzo; three sons, Donald Dortenzo, Ridgeport, W.Va., Vincent Dortenzo, Ocean City, Md., and Michael Dortenzo, Pittsburgh; one daughter, Mary R. Dortenzo, Pittsburgh; one brother, Joseph Dortenzo, Monroeville, Pa.; one sister, Jean L. Dortenzo, Pittsburgh; and three grandchildren

NEWBERRY, S.C. -- Mr. William M. ``Dooder'' Brooks, 78, of 9653 Bush River Road, died Wednesday, Jan. 28, 1998, at University Hospital, Augusta.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. today at Bush River Baptist Church with the Rev. Thomas Morrow officiating. Burial will be private.

Mr. Brooks, a native of Newberry County, was retired from Whitten Center and had previously worked at Joanna Mills. He was a member of Bush River Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Irene Foshee Brooks; three sons, Gerald E. Brooks, Clinton, William Dixon Brooks, Newberry, and J. Robert Brooks, North Augusta; two daughters, Mary B. Stroud, Kinards, and Sara B. Burns, Mountville; and nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren

Mr. Freeman Dorsey Jr. of 1324 Mill St. died Monday, Jan. 26, 1998, at his residence.

The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Spirit Creek Baptist Church with the Revs. Sylvester Nabritt and Robert W. Turner Jr. officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mr. Dorsey, a native of McDuffie County, Ga., was a molder with Augusta Foundry and a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church, Dearing.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Dority Dorsey; four sons, Timothy Dorsey and Ferino Dorsey, both of Augusta, Bryan Dorsey, Ohio, and Tavores Walton; one stepson, Tony Dority, Atlanta; one stepdaughter, Marilyn Dority; five brothers, Bennie Dorsey, Detroit, Willie James Dorsey, Augusta, and Eugene Dorsey, Thomas Dorsey and Samuel Dorsey, all of Hephzibah; two sisters, Odessa Thomas and Cynthia Dorsey, both of Thomson; and his maternal grandmother, Estella Dorsey
