Mrs. Dorothy Toney

Retired teacher

VANCOUVER, Wash. -- Mrs. Dorothy Swearingen Toney, 104, died Tuesday, Jan. 27, 1998.

Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday in Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery, Trenton, S.C., with the Rev. Kevin Phillips officiating.

Mrs. Toney, a native of Eureka, was an elementary school teacher and a member of Philippi Baptist Church, Johnston, S.C., where she was a Sunday school teacher and served as church clerk.

She was a member of South Carolina State Employees Association and the South Carolina Retired Teachers Association.

She was a graduate of Coker College and taught in public schools of Williamsburg, S.C., Aiken and Edgefield, S.C., Counties.

Survivors include one son, George Tillman Swearingen, Bishopville, S.C.; two daughters, Bobbie Smith, Denver, and Harriet Shirley, Charlotte, N.C.; and nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Stephen D. Posey Funeral Home, North Augusta.

Mrs. Pearl Usry

Homemaker

THOMSON -- Mrs. Pearl D. Usry, 94, of 1121 Whiteoak Road, died Friday, Jan. 30, 1998, at her residence.

Graveside services will be at 3:30 p.m. today in Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens with the Rev. James C. Elder Jr. officiating.

Mrs. Usry, a native of Winder, was a retired nurse and homemaker.

She was a member of Rockwell Universalist Church, Winder.

Survivors include one daughter, Marion N. Wood, Winder; and five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Friends may call at the residence or Curtis Funeral Home.

Mrs. Lizzie Williams

Homemaker

Mrs. Lizzie Mae Williams, 81, of 110 Cedar Lane Road, Martinez, died Saturday, Jan. 24, 1998, at University Hospital.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. today at Macedonia Baptist Church with the Rev. S.T. Thompkins officiating.

Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Williams, a native of Martinez, was a homemaker and a member of Macedonia Baptist Church.

The family said she was known by the names Ma, Mama, Sister, Auntie sister, but most of all, she will be remembered by the life she lived.

Survivors include six sons, Charlie L. Williams, Sam Williams and Willie Williams, all of Martinez, James Williams, Augusta, Henery Williams, White Plains, N.Y.; and Randolph Williams, Anaheim, Calif.; one brother, Wallace Henderson, Martinez; one sister, Sadie Perrin, New York; and 14 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Charlie L. Williams, Sam Williams, John Henry Williams, James Williams, Randolph Williams and Willie Williams.

Honorary pallbearers will be deacons of Macedonia Baptist Church.

Friends may call at 112 Prince Drive.

Mr. Fred Williams Jr.

Army veteran

Mr. Fred Williams Jr., of 2004 Fenwick St., died Saturday, Jan. 24, 1998, at University Hospital.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. today at Greater St. John Baptist Church with the Rev. Melvin Ivey officiating.

Burial will be in Southview Cemetery.

Mr. Williams, a native of Charleston, S.C., was a retired truck driver and an Army veteran.

He was a member of Greater St. John Baptist Church, where he served on the deacon board.

The family said he will be missed very much.

Survivors include his wife, Betty L. Williams; four sons, Anthony Williams, Gary Williams and Freddie Williams, all of Augusta, and Harold Moore, Florida; four daughters, Linda Ann Williams, Sheila Cook and Valerie Williams, all of Augusta, and Cynthia L. Tutt, Atlanta, ; and 15 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be members of the King Mill Black Sox Baseball Team.

Honorary pallbearers will be his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Friends may call at the residence.

Eric Willis

Student

AIKEN -- Eric D. Willis, 16, of 514 Croft Mill Road, died at Aiken Regional Medical Centers.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. today at Second Baptist Church with the Rev. Douglas Slaughter officiating.

Burial will be Monday at Pearson Cemetery, Dublin, Ga.

Eric, a native of Dublin, was a student at Aiken High School and was a member of Second Baptist Church.

Survivors include his father, Hardwick Willis, Dublin; his mother, Dorothy Willis, Aiken; three brothers, LeKeith Willis and Daniel Willis, both of Aiken, and Zedrick Willis, Dublin; three sisters, Lacey Willis, Ashley Willis and Shumunda Whipple, all of Dublin; his grandparents, Johnny Willis, Sue Willis and Thelma Willis, all of Dublin, and Daniel Rozier, Chicago; and his great-grandmother, Carrie Jane Sneed, Dublin.

The family will receive friends at noon at Second Baptist Church.

Jackson-Brooks Funeral Home, Dublin, is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Irene Woodruff

Homemaker

Mrs. Irene Tippett Woodruff, 91, of 3555 Granite Way, died Friday, Jan. 30, 1998, at Kentwood Nursing Home.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Tippettville Baptist Church, Tippettville, Ga., with the Rev. Roy Gibbs officiating.

Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Woodruff, a native of Vienna, was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church of Augusta.

She was a former member of Tippettville Baptist Church and was retired from the Postal Service.

Survivors include one son-in-law, D. Douglas Barnard Jr., Augusta.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church Building Fund, 3500 Walton Way Extension, Augusta, GA 30909; or to Tippettville Baptist Church, Route 4, Vienna, GA 31092.

The family will receive friends following the service at the graveside.

Mrs. Bessie Wood

Mrs. Bessie ``Woody'' Wood, 90, died Friday, Jan. 30, 1998, at St. Joseph Hospital.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Westview Cemetery, Thomson, with the Rev. Jim Bailey officiating.

Mrs. Wood, a native of McDuffie County, was a member of Sweetwater Baptist Church.

Survivors include one daughter, Betty Jordan Martin; and one grandchild and two great-grandchildren.

Friends may call at Curtis Funeral Home, Thomson.
