Mr. Clayborn Howard Sr.

Retired school bus driver

WAYNESBORO, Ga. -- Mr. Clayborn ``Bubble'' Howard Sr., of 972 Jack Delaigle Road, died Thursday, Jan. 29, 1998, at his residence.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Murphy Ebenezer Baptist Church with the Rev. G.W. Dixon officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mr. Howard, a native of Burke County, had retired from the Burke County Board of Education as a school bus driver. He was a member of Murphy Ebenezer Baptist Church, where he was chairman of the board of deacons.

His family said they will miss him greatly. God has a better place for him now, and he will forever be missed but not forgotten.

Survivors include his wife, Annie Lue Howard; three sons, Willie Frank Howard, Sylvester Howard and Edward Howard, all of Waynesboro; three daughters, Birdie Collins and Thelma Myers, both of Augusta, and Ida Lewis, Waynesboro; and 22 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Hiram Howard, Claudie C. Howard, Richard Howard, Dewey Jones, Willie J. Perry and Kevin M. Perry.

Honorary pallbearers will be deacons of Murphy Ebenezer Baptist Church.

Friends may call at the residence or at Phinazee and Son Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Everette Hunter

Retired architectural restorer

CRAWFORDVILLE, Ga. -- Mr. Everette ``Rady'' Franklin Hunter, 72, of 142 West Road, died Saturday, Jan. 31, 1998, at Thomson Manor, Thomson.

The funeral will be at 4 p.m. today at Phillips Mill Baptist Church, Washington, with the Revs. Don Mulkey, John M. King and Tom Stillwell officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mr. Hunter, a native of Taliaferro County, spent most of his life in Tyrone Community. He had retired as an architectural restorer. He was an Army veteran of World War II and the Korean conflict, and a member of Phillips Mill Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Virginia Stevens Hunter; two sons, Franklin S. Hunter and John R. Hunter, both of Crawfordville; a daughter, Marcia H. Kirkland, Lincolnton; a sister, Evelyn H. Cofer, Washington; and four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Lane Green, Horace ``Bill'' Miller, Robert Leavell, David Nunn, Mercer Harris and Joe Slay.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Friends may call at the residence.

Ms. Phyllis Key

AIKEN -- Ms. Phyllis Ann Key, 31, of 2563 Andrews Circle, died Friday, Jan. 30, 1998, at Aiken Regional Medical Centers.

The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Old Rosemary Baptist Church, Montmorenci, with the Rev. Henry Curry officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Ms. Key, a native of Aiken, was a 1984 graduate of South Aiken High School. She was a member and secretary of the Paul F. Miner Sickle Cell Anemia Support Group. She was a member of Old Rosemary Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir, and she sang in the Jordan Baptist Church Choir, Williston.

Survivors include a son, Marvin A. Key, Aiken; her parents, Harry Key and Annie Pearl Key, Aiken; and two brothers, Charlie ``Pete'' Key and Mark D. Key, both of Aiken.

Friends may call at the residence of her mother, 2515 Andrews Circle, or after 2 p.m. today at Jackson-Brooks Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 2 to 3 p.m. Tuesday at the church.

Mr. James Knight Jr.

Automobile salesman

HEPHZIBAH -- Mr. James E. Knight Jr., 56, of 4972 Old Waynesboro Road, died Sunday, Feb. 1, 1998, at his residence.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Sunset Memory Gardens, Langley, with the Rev. Allen Cantrell officiating.

Mr. Knight, a native of Dearing, had lived in the Augusta area for 25 years. He was an automobile salesman and a Baptist.

Survivors include his wife, Khinjana Knight; two sons, James Everett Knight III, Hampton, and Melvin Everett Knight, Beech Island; two stepsons, Bobby Lafferty, Augusta, and Donny Lafferty, Okinawa, Japan; a brother, Ron Knight, Lexington, S.C.; two sisters, Judy Hutto, Lexington, and Glenda Hissom, Charleston, S.C.; and four grandchildren.

Friends may call at the residence or at Poteet Funeral Home, Peach Orchard Road.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Willie Lee

Retired civil servant

HARLEM -- Mr. Willie Joseph Lee, 83, of 6772 Harps Drive, died Thursday, Jan. 29, 1998, at Columbia Augusta Medical Center, Augusta.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Cobb Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. William Mack officiating. Burial will be in Bellevue Memorial Gardens, Grovetown.

Mr. Lee, a native of Columbia County, had retired from Fort Gordon as a civil servant.

Survivors include his wife, Mamie Scott Lee; four sons, Joe Lee Jr., Harlem, Chester Lee, Dearing, George Millen, Florida, and Wilbur Lee, Europe; four daughters, Sadie Frails and Theresa Guyton, both of Harlem, Helen Waltower, Hephzibah, and Carolyn Grier, Thomson; a sister, Lizzie Booker, Thomson; and 35 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be grandsons.

Friends may call at the residence or Moore's Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends at the residence after the burial.

Mrs. Martha Lowe

Homemaker

BELVEDERE -- Mrs. Martha Rebecca Busbee Lowe, 69, of 509 Audubon Circle, died Saturday, Jan. 31, 1998, at her residence.

Graveside services will be at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at Warrenville Cemetery, Warrenville, with the Rev. W.C. Lowe officiating.

Mrs. Lowe, a native of Aiken, was a homemaker and a member of Stiefeltown Baptist Church, Stiefeltown.

Her family said she was the best mother in the world.

Survivors include four sons, John C. Lowe Jr. and James D. ``Mitch'' Lowe, both of Warrenville, John David Craven, Aiken, and Ward M. Lowe, Lynwood; two daughters, Harriette McKnight, Belvedere, and Doshia L. Johann, Langley; a brother, Thomas Busbee, Graniteville; a sister, Louise B. Kneece, North Augusta; and 13 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be deacons of Stiefeltown Baptist Church.

Memorials may be made to Stiefeltown Baptist Church, P.O. Box 415, Warrenville, SC 29851.

Mrs. Elease McCormick

Bookkeeper

Mrs. Elease G. McCormick, 73, of 3331 Starling Drive, died Saturday, Jan. 31, 1998, at her residence.

The funeral will be at 3 p.m. today at Elliott Sons Funeral Home, Columbia Road, with the Rev. Larry C. Harmon officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Mrs. McCormick, a native of Augusta, was a bookkeeper with the Job Shop of Augusta. She was a Catholic.

Her family said she was totally devoted to her family, very unselfish with her time and energy, and always there when needed.

Survivors include her husband, Gemmell J. McCormick; a son, Rick McCormick, Evans; two daughters, Theresa McCormick, Augusta, and Patricia M. Hamilton, Grovetown; a sister, Margaret Gillis, Augusta; and three grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Chris McCormick, Jay McCormick, Jesse McCormick, Kelly Hill, Mike Frazier and Jim Taylor.

Miss Anne McGhee

Retired executive secretary

PEACHTREE CITY, Ga. -- Miss Anne McGhee, 61, of 202 Copperplate Lane, died Saturday, Jan. 31, 1998, at her residence.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at George Funeral Home, Aiken, with the Rev. Olin McBride officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memory Gardens, Langley.

Miss McGhee, a native of Christian County, Ky., had lived in Peachtree City most of her life. She had retired from Georgia-Pacific Corp. as an executive secretary after 40 years of service. She was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha Fraternity and South Aiken Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include her father, John S. McGhee, Aiken; and a sister, Jeanne McGhee, Johnson City, Tenn.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, 1003 Hammond Road, Aiken, SC 29803.

Friends may call at 1003 Hammond Road, Aiken, or the funeral home.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Gilbert Olson

Retired administrator

Mr. Gilbert R. Olson, 90, of 1005 Bon Air Drive, died Sunday, Feb. 1, 1998, at St. Joseph Hospital.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Bailey Memorial Cemetery, Tolono, Ill.

Mr. Olson, a native of Cempton, Ill., had retired from the Atomic Energy Commission after 35 years in civil service. He was a Presbyterian.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth C. Olson; a daughter, Sharon Barnabei, Augusta; and a sister, Faye Shrader, Phoenix, Ariz.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 1899 Central Ave., Augusta, GA 30904.

Freese Funeral Home, Tolono, is in charge of arrangements.

Poteet Funeral Home, Wheeler Road, is in charge of local arrangements.
