Mr. Harold Turner

Navy retiree

Mr. Harold D. Turner, 66, died Feb. 17, 1998, at Dwight D. Eisenhower Army Medical Center.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Poteet Funeral Home, Peach Orchard Road, with the Rev. Marion L. Jay officiating. Burial will be in Westover Memorial Park.

Mr. Turner, a native of Rocky Ford, was retired from the Navy and was a veteran of the Korean War and the Vietnam War. He was a Baptist and a member of the National Rifle Association. He was a ham radio operator and a member of the Fleet Reserved Association.

Survivors include his wife, Vivian Turner; three daughters, Lou Cook, Martinez, Kathy Davis, Augusta, and Denise Murphy, Fort Myers, Fla.; one sister, Zettie Mellgaard, Mission Hills, S.D.; and four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Pallbearers will be members of the Navy honor guard.

Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association, 3630 J. Dewey Gray Circle, Suite A, Augusta, GA 30909.

Friends may call at the funeral home or the residence.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Erica Whitt

Pupil

SYLVANIA, Ga. -- Erica Renee Whitt, 8, of 1249 Quail Road, died Sunday, Feb. 15, 1998, at Screven County Hospital.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. today at Thompson-Strickland-Waters Funeral Home with the Revs. David Buie and Larry Powell officiating. Burial will be in Screven County Memorial Cemetery.

Erica, a native of Baltimore, had lived in Screven County since 1993. She was a third-grade pupil and played softball for the Sylvania-Screven County Recreation Department. She was a member of Little Horse Creek Baptist Church.

Survivors include her parents, David R. and Elizabeth Ann Craig Whitt, both of Sylvania; a sister, Danielle Nicole Whitt, Sylvania; her paternal grandparents, Wesley and Margianna Senseney, West Minister, Md.; her maternal grandmother, Lorraine Kalb, Kershaw, S.C.; and her paternal great-grandfather, Buzzy Senseney, West Minister.

Pallbearers will be Neal Wiley, George Wiley, Larry Thigpen, Wayne Wiley and David Murphy.

Memorials may be made to Camp Sunshine, P.O. Box 77236, Atlanta, GA 30357.

Mrs. Pearl Wiltse

Retired seamstress

AIKEN -- Mrs. Pearl Wood Wiltse, 85, of 1099 Reynolds Pond Road, died Sunday, Feb. 15, 1998, at Pepper Hill Nursing Center.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Napier Funeral Home, Graniteville, with the Rev. David Brooks officiating. Burial will be in Aiken Memorial Park.

Mrs. Wiltse, a native of Aiken County, was a retired seamstress and a Baptist.

Survivors include her husband, Gordon Wiltse; one son, James E. Rogers, Ball Ground, Ga.; four daughters, Joan Wilson, New York, Frances Edde, Marina, Calif., Eunice Alger, Cumming, Ga., and Ann Wilson, Bay Shore, N.Y.; two sisters, Marie W. Stinson, Warrenville, and Ruth W. Huffman, Johnston; and 18 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Bobby Redd, Wayne Rogers, Randy Cook, Gerald Britt, Jack Stinson and Johnny Durden.

Friends may call at the residence of Marie W. Stinson, 192 Timmerman St., Warrenville.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mrs. Mildred Wren

Homemaker

WRENS, Ga. -- Mrs. Mildred Neal Wren, 86, of 1175 Ellis Cemetery Road, died Tuesday, Feb. 17, 1998, at Providence Nursing Home.

The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at Wrens Baptist Church Chapel with the Revs. Julian West and Ben Martin officiating. Burial will be in Wrens City Cemetery.

Mrs. Wren, a native of McDuffie County, was a homemaker and a member of Wrens Baptist Church, where she was a member of Dorcus Sunday School Class. She was a member of Town and Country Garden Club, Wrens Keenagers and the Jefferson County Farm Bureau.

Survivors include two daughters, Helen Wren Channell, Wrens, and Faye Wren Brown, St. Louis; one brother, Clavin Neal, Dearing; three sisters, Frances McNair, Rema Neal and Vera Neal, all of Thomson; and five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Cloyce Wren Jr., George Wren, William Wren, Boyd McNair, Jimmy Prescott and Richard Prescott.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 15923, Augusta, GA 30919.

Friends may call at the residence of Dwayne and Kim Wood, 1059 Twin Oaks Road.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at James and Lowe Funeral Home.

Ms. Cassandra Marshall

Ms. Cassandra Letitia Marshall, 35, of 1802 Thompson Drive, died Tuesday, Feb. 17, 1998, at University Hospital.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Steiner Grove Baptist Church, Grovetown, with the Rev. Jackson Parks officiating. Burial will be in Mount Pleasant Church Cemetery, Grovetown.

Ms. Marshall, a native of Richmond County, was a member of Steiner Grove Baptist Church.

Survivors include her stepfather, Leroy Anderson; her mother, Carrie Anderson; her father, James Marshall; seven brothers, James Marshall Jr., Charles Marshall Jr., Malculm Marshall, Nathaniel Anderson, Orlandicus Kirk Anderson, Aulysious Anderson and Wade Marshall; and four sisters, Natalie Anderson, Sharon Marshall, Lakeisha Marshall and Carolina Marshall.

Friends may call at the residence.

Peoples Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Desi Middlebrooks

Retired supervisor

Mr. Desi B. Middlebrooks, of 3601 Coventry Drive, died Monday, Feb. 16, 1998, at University Hospital.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Tabernacle Baptist Church, with the Rev. Otis Moss III officiating. Burial will be in New Salem Baptist Church Cemetery, Warren County.

Mr. Middlebrooks, a native of Waverly, Ala., was retired from the Naval Ship Yard, Brooklyn, N.Y. He was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church, where he was a deacon and member of the deacon board and was a member of the Senior Citizen's Council.

Survivors include a son, Ronald Middlebrooks, Augusta; a sister, Mildred Hill, New York; and three grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

Pallbearers will be members of the Tabernacle Baptist Church deacon board.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at Williams Funeral Home.

Ms. Vickie Whittle

BATH -- Ms. Vickie Whittle, 44, of 6 Church St., died Thursday, Feb. 19, 1998, in Columbia.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Sunset Memory Gardens, Langley.

Ms. Whittle was a native of Tifton, Ga.

Survivors include one daughter, Jennifer Karen Whittle, Columbia; her parents, Edwin Taylor, Albany, Ga., and Ruby Taylor, Burnettown; four brothers, Ricky Taylor, Lexington, Randy Taylor and Tony Taylor, both of Albany, and Richard Taylor, Burnettown; and one grandchild.

Mrs. Lola Case

BELVEDERE -- Mrs. Lola Case, 91, died Sunday, Feb. 15, 1998, in Augusta.

The funeral will be private in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Va.

Mrs. Case, a native of Estherville, Iowa, was a homemaker and a member of the Augusta Genealogical Society, Daughters of the American Revolution and the Audubon Society.

Survivors include one son, Neil Case, Albion, Ind.; and one daughter, Gail C. Murphy, Augusta.

Mrs. Mary Davis

TWIN CITY, Ga. -- Mrs. Mary Davis, 97, of Twin City Nursing Center, died Tuesday, Feb. 17, 1998, at Emanuel County Medical Center.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at New Jerusalem Church of Christ, Millen, with Roland Johnson officiating. Burial will be in New Millen Cemetery, Millen.

Mrs. Davis, a native of Bulloch County, was a retired homemaker and a member of New Jerusalem Church of Christ, where she was the church mother.

Survivors include five cousins, Lola Lee, Grace Sampson, Avira King, Valerie King and Brenell King; and one goddaughter, Leevater Williams.

Pallbearers will be Ricardo Williams, Joe Snelling and Earnest Burns.

James A. Kirkland Mortuary, Millen, is in charge of arrangements.
