GROVETOWN, Ga. -- Cody E. Moon, 15, died Tuesday, March 10, 1998, in Harlem.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in Free Holiness Church Cemetery, Gulfport, Miss.

Cody, a native of Burleson, Texas, was a ninth grade student at Harlem High School and a Protestant.

Survivors include his mother, Diane Moon, Grovetown; one brother, Elija Moon, Cleburn, Texas; and his maternal grandparents, Leon and Sue Anai, Jashua, Texas.

The friends may call at Moore Funeral Service, Wiggins, Miss.

Starling-Hatcher Funeral Home, Augusta, is in charge local arrangements.

Mr. James Redd Jr.

Retired painter

AIKEN -- Mr. James Redd Jr., 77, of 1549 Wyman St. N.E., died Thursday, March 12, 1998, at Aiken Regional Medical Centers.

The funeral will be at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at George Funeral Home, Park Avenue, with the Rev. Robbie D. Vance officiating. Burial will be in Aiken Memorial Park.

Mr. Redd, a native of Aiken, was a retired painter with DuPont and a member of Memorial Baptist Church. He was an Army veteran of World War II and received the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Painters and Allied Trades.

Survivors include his wife, Doris F. Redd, Aiken; two sons, Russell Lamar Redd and Terry J. Redd, both of Aiken; one daughter, Ponnie R. Reynolds, Evans; two brothers, Norman Redd, Aiken, and Hiarm Redd, Graniteville; one sister, Margaret R. Owens, Aiken; and six grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Jason Redd, Bryan Redd, Joe Roger Fant Jr., Terry G. Carpenter, Foster M. Reynolds and Norman Redd Jr.

Memorials may be made to Memorial Baptist Church.

Friends may call at the funeral home.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mrs. Verna Almeter

Homemaker

DEARING -- Mrs. Verna Almeter, 82, of 1982 Adams Reeves Road, died Saturday, March 14, 1998, at her residence.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Queen of Angels Catholic Church, Thomson, with the Rev. Edward O'Connor officiating. Burial will be in Alleluia Community Cemetery.

Mrs. Almeter, a native of Strykersville, N.Y., was a homemaker and a member of Queen of Angels Catholic Church.

Survivors include her husband, Norman Almeter; six sons, Thomas J. Almeter and Joseph R. Almeter, both of Dearing, Lawrence N. Almeter, Spencerport, N.Y., David J. Almeter, Hilton, N.Y., Daniel K. Almeter, Augusta, and James L. Almeter, Pifford, N.Y.; four daughters, Margaret M. Adams, Anne V. Reyner and Theresa G. Mance, all of Hilton, and Mary C. Pidel, Augusta; three brothers, Louis Marzolf and Wilfred Marzolf, both of Strykersville, and Leon Marzolf, Attica, N.Y.; a sister, Gertrude M. Lefort, Strykersville; and 40 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will her be grandsons.

Friends may call at the residence.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. today and Monday at the residence.

Mrs. Mary Carter

Murray Biscuit Co. retiree

NOKESVILLE, Va. -- Mrs. Mary Lorena Carter, 83, of 9618 Leeta Cornus Lane, died Thursday, March 12, 1998, at her residence.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today at Hillcrest Memorial Park, Augusta, with the Rev. Mark Hornsby officiating.

Mrs. Carter, a native of Lincolnton, Ga., had retired from Murray Biscuit Co. as a packer. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Mary Sager, Nokesville; two sisters, Willie Mae Crook, Lincolnton, and Frances Burke, Martinez; and two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Northern Virginia, P.O. Box 922, Falls Church, VA 22040.

The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Monday at Starling-Hatcher Funeral Home, Augusta.

Mr. Louis Guisti

Retired civil servant

BELVEDERE -- Mr. Louis J. Guisti, 79, of 148 Palmetto Ave., died Saturday, March 14, 1998, at his residence.

The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Rowland Funeral Home, North Augusta, with the Revs. Eugene Brown and Walter Porterfield officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery, North Augusta.

Mr. Guisti, a native of Croton-on-Hudson, N.Y., had retired from civil service at Fort Gordon. He was an Army veteran of World War II, where he served in the Invasion of Normandy. He was a member of American Legion Post No. 63, and was a licensed auctioneer in South Carolina, and a former North Augusta volunteer fireman. He was a Mason. He was founder and president of Palmetto Majors Baseball, and coached basketball and baseball for the North Augusta Recreation Department. He was a member of Langley Pentecostal Holiness Church.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret M. Guisti; two sons, Tony Guisti, Phoenix, and Wesley Summers, North Augusta; a daughter, Margaret Guisti, Venice, Calif.; three brothers, Dominick Guisti, White Plains, N.Y., Anthony Guisti, Beacon, N.Y., and Joseph Guisti, New Ellenton; two sisters, Louise Guisti, Beacon, and Margaret Kalmar, Trumbull, Conn.; and nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be David Wapshott, Jim Roach, Larry Fields, William Yonce, Herbert Sizemore and Jess Tipton.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mrs. Arlene Hughes

Mrs. Arlene C. Hughes, of 1434 Essie McIntyre Blvd., died Wednesday, March 11, 1998, at Vencor Hospital, Atlanta.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Bibleway No. 1 Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ with Thomas Aaron officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Mrs. Hughes, a native of Warren County, was a homemaker. She was a member of Bibleway No. 2 Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ, where she was president of the Mothers Board, served as mother of the church, sang in the senior chorus and was a licensed missionary.

Survivors include her husband, Eddie Hughes Sr.; five sons, George Hughes, Carlton Hughes and Willie Hughes, all of Augusta, Eddie Hughes Jr., Detroit, and James Clarence Hughes, Long Beach, Calif.; seven daughters, Earnestine Daggett, Charlene Middleton, Patricia Ann Thompson, Deborah Hughes and Cindy Hughes, all of Augusta, Doris Hughes, Hephzibah, and Brenda Hughes, Germany; and 21 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Derrick Hughes, Butler Middleton, Fredrick Williams, Javante Thompson, Javier Thompson and Richmond Davis.

Mrs. Betty F. King, 68, died Friday, March 13, 1998, at Dwight D. Eisenhower Army Medical Center.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Poteet Funeral Home, Wheeler Road, with Chaplain Stephen M. Russ officiating. Burial will be in Westover Memorial Park.

Mrs. King, a native of Coatsville, Pa., was a homemaker and a Methodist.

Survivors include her husband, John R. ``Jack'' King Jr.; two sons, Jeffrey H. King and Keith A. King, both of Augusta; a daughter, Gail King Johnson, Martinez; a brother, Fredrick Fisher, Baltimore; two sisters, Dorothy Wagner, Baltimore, and Bertha O'Connell, Westchester, Pa.; and four grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Phil Smith, Emil Wisda, Clay Howard, Herb King, Billy King and Dustin Angel.

Mrs. Kirby, a native of Thomson, was a homemaker and a Baptist.

Survivors include a son, Jessie Kirby, Dearing; two daughters, Brenda Lewis and Minnie Lewis, both of Dearing; four sisters, Kathleen Weeks and Betty Jean Cox, both of Eureka, Calif., Ruperta Hall, Augusta, and JoAnn Wyatt, Texas; and 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

JACKSON -- Mr. Frank Konarik, 54, of 319 1/2 South Silverton Ave., died Friday, March 13, 1998, at Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Augusta.

The funeral will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Hatcher Funeral Home, Langley, with the Rev. Allen Cantrell officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memory Gardens, Langley.

Mr. Konarik, a native of Hallettsville, Texas, was a welder and a former employee of TAD International. He was a member of the American Legion and Jackson Bible Church.

Survivors include his wife, Jackie Bailey Konarik, Beech Island; three sons, Darrell Hester and Franklin Konarik III, both of Beech Island, and Thomas Jeffrey Hester, Columbia; two daughters, Debra Hair, Langley, and Linda Cooper, Graniteville; three brothers, Victor Konarik, Rosenberg, Texas, Harvey Konarik, Buffalo, Texas, and Ronnie Konarik, Houston; three sisters, Margie Hromadka, Houston, Mildred Cobden, Humble, Texas, and Shirley Westbrook, Sugar Land, Texas; and nine grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Leo Hromadka, Jerry Sirard, Darrell Hester, Jeffrey Hester, Warren Hair and George Tice.
