Mr. Elton Huff

J.M. Huber retiree

WRENS, Ga. -- Mr. Elton D. Huff, 76, of 204 Russell St., died Sunday, March 22, 1998, at University Hospital, Augusta.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. today at James and Lowe Funeral Home with the Revs. Joe Walden and Ken Morgan officiating. Burial will be at Mount Moriah United Methodist Church, Matthews.

Mr. Huff, a native of Warren County, was retired from J.M. Huber and was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member of Wrens Baptist Church and the American Legion Post No. 229.

Survivors include two sons, Ricky Huff, Augusta, and Scott Huff, North Augusta; one daughter, Sherry Prescott, Wrens; and five grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Newton Hildebrand, Vinson McDonald, Charles Huff, Lent Braswell, Weldon Purvis and Julian Kitchens.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of American Legion Post No. 229.

Memorials may be made to the Carol Mauney Scholarship Fund or the American Cancer Relay For Life, c/o Karen Walden, 6126 Georgia Highway 88 E., P.O. Box 5, Matthews, GA 30818.

Mrs. Louise Schmidt

Retired teacher

AIKEN -- Mrs. Louise P. Schmidt, 90, of 3525 Augustus Road, died Sunday, March 22, 1998, at Aiken Regional Medical Centers.

The funeral will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at St. John's United Methodist Church with the Revs. George S. Duffie and Kenneth L. Nelson officiating. Burial will be private.

Mrs. Schmidt, a native of Hopewell, Ohio, had retired as a high school math teacher and was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church, where she was a member of Katie Williams Sunday School Class and United Methodist Women. She was a graduate of Ohio State University and a member of Garden Makers Garden Club.

Survivors include one sister, Maralyn P. Flanagan, Aiken.

Pallbearers will be Eric Randall, Cliff Selby, Henry Summerall Jr., Pat Monahan, Kathy Lehrmann and Eileen Flanagan.

Memorials may be made to St. John's United Methodist Church, 104 Newberry St. N.W., Aiken, S.C.; or the Alzheimers Association, P.O. Box 7044, Columbia, SC 29202.

George Funeral Homes, Park Avenue, is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Grady Wyatt

Army retiree

THOMSON -- Mr. Grady ``Ray'' Wyatt, 68, of 139 Brentwood Drive, died Sunday, March 22, 1998, at McDuffie County Hospital.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. today at Thomson First Baptist Church with Dr. James C. Elder Jr. officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Westview Cemetery.

Mr. Wyatt, a native of Gaffney, S.C., had retired from the Army and civil service, and was a veteran of the Vietnam War, where he received the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. He was a member of Thomson First Baptist Church, where he was a member of Lamar Jones Sunday School Class. He was an amateur radio operator, a former president of Thomson Area Radio League and a volunteer examiner with the American Radio Relay Association.

Survivors include his wife, Judy Wyatt; two sons, Spencer Wyatt and Richard Morgan, both of Thomson; two daughters, Kathy Wyatt, Gaffney, and April Matthews, Thomson; and one grandchild.

Pallbearers will be members of the military.

Friends may call at the residence or Curtis Funeral Home.

Mrs. Cleo Barker

Retired teacher

OLAR, S.C. -- Mrs. Cleo Kearse Barker, 98, died Monday, March 23, 1998, at Bamberg County Hospital.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. today at Bethel United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Mizpah United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Barker, a native of Olar, was a retired teacher and had attended Carlisle Finishing School. She was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church, where she served as a piano player, Sunday school teacher and was a member of the choir. She was a former president of the United Methodist Women.

Memorials may be made to the Bethel United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 811, Olar, SC 29843.

Mrs. Nell Brown

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. -- Mrs. Nell Brown, 93, died Tuesday, March 24, 1998.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. today at Laughlin Service Funeral Home with the Revs. Bob Blackburn and Les Brown officiating. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Brown was a charter member of Rotary Ann Club and a member of Southside Baptist Church.

Survivors include one sister, Clara P. Reeves, Roswell.

Leasia Bunch

NORTH AUGUSTA -- Leasia Bunch, 6 months, of 1126 Austin St., died Sunday, March 22, 1998, at University Hospital.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Old Time Way Church of God in Christ, Augusta, with Mark Walden, elder, officiating. Burial will be in Walker Memorial Park, Augusta.

Leasia was a native of Augusta.

Survivors include her parents, Dondiel and Alicia Bunch, both of North Augusta; one sister, Ariel Bunch; her paternal grandfather, DeLacy Bunch, North Augusta; her paternal grandmother, Johnnie Mae Bunch, Augusta; her maternal grandparents, Ruben and Frankie Hagins Jr., both of Augusta; and her maternal great-grandparents, Ruben and Lillie Hagins Sr., both of Plymouth, Fla., and Henry and Doris Washington, both of Zellwood, Fla.

Mr. Woodrow Pilot

Graniteville Co. retiree

GRANITEVILLE -- Mr. Woodrow W. Pilot, 80, of 512 Laurel Drive, died Monday, March 23, 1998, at Aiken Regional Medical Centers.

The funeral will be at 3:30 p.m. Thursday at Napier Funeral Home with the Revs. Doug Puckett and Jimmie Rodgers officiating. Burial will be in Graniteville Cemetery.

Mr. Pilot, a native of Saluda County, was retired from Graniteville Co. and was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church.

Survivors include his wife, Louise M. Pilot; one son, Dewey W. Pilot, Delight, Ark.; one daughter, Annouise Pilot Davis, Graniteville; and five grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Pallbearers will be David D. McGee, Jerry Couch, William A. Whittle, Earl Wilson, Eddie Bryant, Jimmy Carpenter and Tom Taylor.

Friends may call at the residence.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

PHENIX CITY, Ala. -- Mrs. Corine Allmond Medlock Warren, 59, of 1600 43rd St., died Tuesday, March 24, 1998, at Phenix Regional Hospital.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Hebron Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, Garfield, Ga.

Ms. Warren, a native of Emanuel County, was retired from Muscogee Manufacturing Co. and was a member of Central Baptist Church.

Survivors include one son, Arthur E. ``Gene'' Medlock, Phenix City; one brother, T.M. Allmond, Columbus; one sister, Ermie Parsons, Columbus; and seven grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Johnson Funeral Home, Swainsboro.

Dr. James Bloodsworth

University professor

AIKEN -- Dr. James Gaston Bloodsworth, 63, of 1010 Wildwood Road, died Wednesday, March 25, 1998, at Aiken Regional Medical Centers.

The funeral will be at 5 p.m. Friday at Shellhouse Funeral Home with the Rev. Don Soule officiating. Burial will be private.

Dr. Bloodsworth, a native of Rolands, Miss., was a professor of elementary education with the University of South Carolina Aiken and a Christian. He was president of the South Carolina Association of Teacher Educators and the Southeastern Regional Association of Teacher Educators and chairman of the USC Aiken school of education. He co-authored 14 papers.

Survivors include two daughters, Ramona Younts, Perry, Ga., and Alyson Sheahan, Liberty; one sister, Tommye McCloud, Houston; and five grandchildren.
