Mr. Billy Arrington

Military retiree

HEPHZIBAH -- Mr. Billy S. Arrington, 60, of 2405 Travis Road, died Saturday, April 4, 1998, at his residence.

The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Poteet Funeral Home, Peach Orchard Road, with the Rev. Scott Franklin officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Mr. Arrington, a native of Jefferson County, was a security analyst. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War, retiring from service as chief warrant officer. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 649 and Military Order of the Cootie Pup Tent No. 69.

Survivors include his wife, Sandra J. Arrington; three sons, Mark L. Arrington, Pelham, Ala., Randy Craigle, Dorchester, S.C., and William D. Arrington; two daughters, Michelle L. Robertson, Pelham, and Rachel L. Arrington, Hephzibah; his mother, Louise Arrington Brown, Hephzibah; his stepfather, Norman Brown, Hephzibah; three sisters, Sandra Kitchens, Hephzibah, Norma Anne Drew, Augusta, and Donna Powe, Aiken; and two grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be members of a military honor guard.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 649.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, 246 Davis Road, Augusta, GA 30907; or the American Cancer Agency, 2623 Washington Road, Augusta, GA 30904.

Friends may call at the funeral home.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Ms. Lillian Bennett

St. Joseph Hospital employee

Ms. Lillian Bennett, of 644 Mims Road, Evans, died Thursday, April 2, 1998, at her residence.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Crawford Grove Baptist Church with Chaplain Forest Stout officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Ms. Bennett, a native of Columbia County, worked in the food service department at St. Joseph Hospital for 18 years. She was a graduate of John Pierce Blanchard High School and a member of Crawford Grove Baptist Church.

Survivors include two sons, Zareyton E. Bennett, Fort Bliss, Texas, and Auther Zavier Bennett, Helena, Ga.; four brothers, Jerry C. Bennett, Auther C. Bennett and Michael Bennett, all of Augusta, and Edward Bennett, Martinez; three sisters, Dorothy Philpot, Augusta, Mary Harris, Hephzibah, and Barbara Hammond, Fayetteville, N.C.; and seven grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Joaquin Hobbs, Octavius Hobbs, Calvin Taylor, Phulon Taylor, Keith Bostic and Daryl Bennett.

Honorary pallbearers will be employees of the St. Joseph Hospital food service department.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Williams Funeral Home.

Mr. Fred Caldwell

Retired nursery owner

LONOKE, Ark. -- Mr. Fred William Caldwell, 80, died Saturday, April 4, 1998.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Lonoke Baptist Church with the Rev. Jimmy Wallace officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Oak Grove Cemetery, Conway.

Mr. Caldwell, a native of Houston, had retired as owner of an Augusta nursery and from the Army after 22 years. He was a member of Lonoke Baptist Church.

His family said he was known for his prize-winning orchids, which he shared with patients in hospitals and nursing homes.

Survivors include his wife, Polly Caldwell; a daughter, Pollyanne Bermingham, Atlanta; a sister, Gussie B. Jones, Little Rock; and one grandchild.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Boyd Funeral Home.

Mr. Randall Clark

Mr. Randall Lee Clark, 42, of 1323 Laurel St., died Saturday, April 4, 1998, at Columbia Augusta Medical Center.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Thomas L. King Funeral Home, Martinez, with the Rev. Jerry Wilson officiating. Burial will be in Westover Memorial Park.

Mr. Clark, a native of Chattanooga, Tenn., was a Baptist.

His family said he was a devoted and loving father who will be missed and who was loved by his little brother and sister.

Survivors include his wife, Jo P. Clark; a daughter, Chelsea Day Ryan Clark, Augusta; his parents, H.B. ``Lee'' Clark and Lourine Clark, Martinez; a brother, Kelly Clark, Augusta; and a sister, Rena Pearre, Martinez.

Pallbearers will be John Parker, Tony Fournier, Milton Fletcher, Delmer Vandusen, Marcus Grimm and Carlos Jarosz.

Memorials may be made to Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America, 2250 N. Druid Hills Road, Decatur, GA 30033.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mrs. Frank Dyal

Nursing assistant

Mrs. Frank L. Dyal, 89, died Sunday, April 5, 1998, at Columbia Augusta Medical Center.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Seventh-day Adventist Church, Martinez, with Pastor Dale Tunnell officiating. Burial will be in Westover Memorial Park.

Mrs. Dyal, a native of Augusta, was a nursing assistant at St. Joseph Hospital. She was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Betty Pearson, Cleburne, Texas, and Virginia C. Blackledge, Lincolnton, Ga.; and 15 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be members of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Thomas L. King Funeral Home, Martinez.

Mrs. Geneva Ellis

Retired social worker

NEW YORK -- Mrs. Geneva Ellis, 69, of Queens, died Wednesday, April 1, 1998, at Mary Immaculate Hospital, Queens.

The funeral will be at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at Wesley United Methodist Church, Aiken, with the Rev. William Bowser Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Pine Lawn Memorial Gardens, Aiken.

Mrs. Ellis, a native of Aiken, had retired as a case supervisor and social worker for the city of New York. She was a graduate of Martha Schofield High School, Aiken; Allen University, Columbia; and Fordham University. She was a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority and a former member of Wesley United Methodist Church.

Survivors include a son, John Corley, Queens; a daughter, Jane Corley, Tinton Falls, N.J., a brother, Regin Ellis Sr., Queens; two sisters, Jeanette Dugas and Hope Buckhalter, both of Queens; and one grandchild.

Friends may call at Jackson-Brooks Funeral Home, Aiken.

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at the church.

Mr. Robert Gay

Retired meat inspector

GARFIELD, Ga. -- Mr. Robert S. Gay, 65, of 222 S. Railroad Ave., died Saturday, April 4, 1998, at University Hospital, Augusta.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. today at Hebron Primitive Baptist Church with Tommy Rountree, William Claxton and Manning Temples officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mr. Gay, a native of Emanuel County, had retired from the U.S. Department of Agriculture as a meat inspector. He served in the Air Force from 1950 to 1973, retiring as senior master sergeant. He was a member and deacon of Hebron Primitive Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Ida Mae Gay; a son, Keith E. Gay, Oahu, Hawaii; two daughters, Donna Joe Campbell and Debra A. Ellison, both of Garfield; two sisters, Sara Richardson, Twin City, and Margaret Bobo, Wrens; and eight grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Charlie Gay, Johnny Gay, Sonny Gay, Jack Webb, Steve Burke, Steve Durham, Duff Richardson and Buck Richardson.

Memorials may be made to Hebron Primitive Baptist Church.

Johnson Funeral Home, Swainsboro, is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. James Hamilton

Shipping clerk

Mr. James C. Hamilton, 59, of 7772 Lakeside Drive, Appling, died Saturday, April 4, 1998, at his residence.

A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Trinity Baptist Church, Martinez, with Dr. K.C. Stevens officiating.

Mr. Hamilton, a native of Augusta, was a shipping clerk for Georgia Iron Works. He was a Navy veteran and a Baptist.

Survivors include two sons, Richard C. Hamilton and Robert J. Hamilton, both of Martinez; a brother, Ronald C. Hamilton, Athens, Ga.; a sister, Linda J. Clark, Augusta; and four grandchildren.

Elliott Sons Funeral Home, Columbia Road, is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Doris Jones

Homemaker

Mrs. Doris K. Jones, 69, of 2318 Old Barton Chapel Road, died Saturday, April 4, 1998, at University Hospital.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. today at Elliott Sons Funeral Home, Telfair Street, with the Rev. Ron Hasty officiating. Burial will be in Graniteville Cemetery, Graniteville.

Mrs. Jones, a native of Augusta, was a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband, Stanley Jones; a daughter, Renee Williams, Atlanta; a stepson, David Jones, Augusta; a stepdaughter, Barbara Wallenzine, North Augusta; and two grandchildren, two stepgrandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Bubba Williams, Jason Wallenzine and David Jones.
