Mr. Paul Norris

Highway Department Retiree

THOMSON -- Mr. Paul Felton Norris, 83, of 852 Pine Line Drive, died Tuesday, April 7, 1998, at Gibson Rest Home, Gibson.

A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Curtis Funeral Home with the Rev. Mike Sutphin officiating. Burial was in Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Norris, a native of Glascock County, was retired from the Georgia State Highway Department. He was a member of Magnolia Baptist Church.

Survivors include one son, John Wayne Norris, Lauren, S.C.; two daughters, Bobbie Ann Stewart, South Carolina, and Sara Nell Chalker, Louisiana; one brother, Hardwick Norris, Thomson; three sisters, Lillie Mae Brooks and Edna Norris, both of Gibson, and Fannie Bell Johnson, Stapleton; and 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Friends may call at the residence of W.J. Faglier, Pine Lane Drive, or the funeral home.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mrs. Caroline Owens

Retired florist

BARNWELL, S.C. -- Mrs. Caroline Gibson Owens, 75, died Thursday, April 9, 1998, in Columbia.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m Saturday at First Baptist Church of Barnwell with the Revs. Steve Burnette and Posey Belcher officiating.

Mrs. Owens, a native of Denmark, was retired as owner of Barnwell Florist. She had been a secretary with The National Fastner Corp. She was a charter member of the Iris Garden Club and a member of the Twilight Garden Club.

Survivors include one son, Lewis A. Owens, Barnwell; one brother, H. Wilbur Gibson Jr., Barnwell; and two grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Horace Dicks, Frampton Beasley, Denis Gibson, O'Neal Gibson, Todd Gibson and Wells Gibson.

Memorials may be made to the Center for Cancer Research, Richland Memorial Hospital, Suite 600, 9 Medical Park, Columbia, SC 29203.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Mole Funeral Home.

Mr. Jerry Rosier

Construction worker

BARNWELL, S.C. -- Mr. Jerry Lee Rosier, 37, died Wednesday, April 8, 1998.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Dyches Funeral Home with the Revs. Rommie Martin and George Vorhease officiating. Burial will be in Barnwell County Memory Cemetery.

Mr. Rosier, a native of Barnwell County, was an employee with J.C. Acc Construction Co., Charleston.

Survivors include his mother, Bertha Grooms Rosier; two brothers, Robert Padgett, Augusta, and Gene Turner, Edgefield; and one sister, Mary Jane Still, Barnwell.

Pallbearers will be David Rosier, Phillip Rosier, Rodney Still, Michael Ray and O'Neal Still.

Mrs. Irene Simpson

Homemaker

Mrs. Irene L. ``Nanny'' Simpson, 76, of 1118 Piney Grove Road, died Wednesday, April 8, 1998, at her residence.

The funeral will be at 3 p.m. today at McBean Baptist Church, McBean, with the Rev. Cecil Rice officiating. Burial will be in Swearingen Family Cemetery.

Mrs. Simpson, a native of Jefferson County, was a homemaker and a member of McBean Baptist Church.

The family said she was a loving mother and grandmother.

Survivors include one son, Tommy L. Simpson, Oakboro, N.C.; two daughters, Brenda Swearingen, Augusta, and Patricia Williams, Saluda, S.C.; four brothers, Wayne Luckey and Tony Luckey, both of Blythe, Jake Luckey, Hephzibah, and Herman Luckey, Andalusia, Ala.; five sisters, Louise Brown and Helen Miles, both of Augusta, Nelle Ashley, Harlem, Merle McCulley, Evans, and Hazel Laube, Blythe; and seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Tommy Simpson Jr., David McLeod, Patrick Swearingen, Kelly Simpson, Daryl McLeod and Lee Smith.

Elliott Sons Funeral Home, Lumpkin Road, is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Richard Spivey Sr.

Firefighter

BLYTHE -- Mr. Richard Allen ``Ricky'' Spivey Sr., 43, of 303 Church St., died Wednesday, April 8, 1998, at University Hospital, Augusta.

The funeral will be at 3 p.m. today at Platt's Funeral Home, Crawford Avenue, with the Rev. David Westerfield officiating. Burial will be in West View Cemetery.

Mr. Spivey, a native of Germany, was a firefighter with the Augusta-Richmond County Fire Department and a Baptist.

Survivors include his wife, Alice T. Spivey; two sons, Ricky Spivey Jr. and Ruben Paul Spivey, both of Blythe; his mother, Ruby Spivey, Hephzibah; two brothers, Jack G. Spivey Jr., Suwanee, and Thomas L. Spivey, Hephzibah; and one sister, Fran Mathis, Hephzibah.

Pallbearers will be Rick Dudai, Melvin Harris, Dale Mack, Dennis Atkins, Tommy Whitener and Nicky Jewell.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Augusta-Richmond County Fire Department.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mrs. Ruth Sweeney

Mrs. Ruth Mae Sweeney, 92, of 3420 Peach Orchard Road, died Thursday, April 9, 1998, in Augusta.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Hillcrest Memorial Park with the Rev. James Bland officiating.

Mrs. Sweeney, a native of Columbia County, was a homemaker and a Baptist.

The family said she was a devoted mother and grandmother and will be sadly missed.

Survivors include two sons, Frank J. Sweeney, Augusta, and Preston D. Sweeney, Martinez; one brother, Morgan Jones, Keysville; and nine grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Elliott Sons Funeral Home, Lumpkin Road.

Mr. Daniel Stroman

AIKEN -- Mr. Daniel L. ``Nut'' Stroman, 37, of 824 Dillon Ave., died Tuesday, April 7, 1998, at Aiken Regional Medical Centers.

The funeral will be at 4 p.m. Saturday at Jackson-Brooks Funeral Home with the Rev. Dennis Segres officiating. Burial will be in Pine Lawn Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Stroman, a native of Aiken, attended Aiken County public schools and Freedman Vocational School.

Survivors include his wife, Sandra D. Stroman; one son, Andre Doyle, Aiken; two daughters, Shakala Doyle and Eunice Robinson, both of Aiken; his mother, Carrie Doyle, Aiken; five brothers, Johnny Stroman, Wagener, Steve Doyle, Eric Doyle and Paul Doyle Jr., all of Aiken, and Lannie Stroman, Bennettsville; and two sisters, Renee Bey, New Bedford, Mass., and Rutha Mae Gaines, Edmunds.

Friends may call at the residence of Carrie Doyle, 619 Richland Ave. S.E. or at 3 p.m. today at the funeral home

Mr. Al Thomas

Mechanic

Mr. Robert Al Thomas, 75, of 435 La Vista Drive, Evans, died Tuesday, April 7, 1998, at Columbia Augusta Medical Center.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Thomas L. King Funeral Home with the Rev. Pierce Norman officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Mr. Thomas, a native of Dublin, Ga., was a mechanic with Southern Diesel and was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of Lewis Memorial United Methodist Church and Ruth's Coffee Club.

Survivors include his wife, Ellie Thomas; two sons, Stephen D. Thomas, Martinez, and Michael A. Thomas, Newnan; one brother, Richard Thomas, Florida; one sister, Linda Lake, Dublin; and three grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Carl Cox, Titus Norman, Barry Cox, Jo Jo Walker, Jimmy Holt, Doug Mayenschein and Todd Dudley.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of Ruth's Coffee Club.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mrs. Daisy Turner

Retired accountant

ANDERSON, S.C. -- Mrs. Daisy Cason Turner, 97, of 1201 S. McDuffie St., died Thursday, April 9, 1998, at Anderson Area Medical Center.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Sardis Baptist Church, Rayle, with the Rev. Joe Heathcoat officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Turner, a native of Wilkes County, Ga., was a retired accountant with the business office of Georgia Baptist Hospital. She was a member of Anderson First Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Phebean Class and the Edwards Circle.

Survivors include two nephews, Beverly Wansley, Anderson, and Robert Cason, Clinton; and six nieces, Emily Campbell, Anderson, Roslyn Martin, Clinton, Carol Lynn Babbit, Dunnellon, Fla., Ann Watt, Starr, Linda Threlkeld, Comer, Ga., and Marianne Johnson, Macon.

Memorials may be made to Lottie Moon Foreign Missions, c/o First Baptist Church, Anderson, SC 29622.

Hopkins Funeral Home, Washington, Ga., is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Lillie Warnock

DUBLIN, Ga. -- Mrs. Lillie Frost Warnock, 67, of 1010 Old Savannah Road, died Wednesday, April 8, 1998, at her residence.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Southside Baptist Church, Swainsboro, with the Revs. Herschel Clements and Gene Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Union Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Warnock, a native of Treutlen County, was a member of Southside Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Earl Warnock; two daughters, Mary W. Chapman, Dublin, and Evelyn W. Henry, Swainsboro; three brothers, James Frost and Dale Frost, both of Dublin, and Bennie Frost, Dalton; one half-brother, Marvin Black, Homerville; two half-sisters, Mary C. Geiger, Soperton, and Ruby Blackley, Longview, Texas; and 5 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Sammons Funeral Home, Soperton.
