Mr. Charles Woods

Mr. Charles A. Woods, 43, of 1002 Greene St., died Friday, April 10, 1998.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Anon Grove Baptist Church, Lexington, Ga., with the Rev. Michael Gresham officiating. Burial will be in Athens Memory Garden, Athens, Ga.

Mr. Woods was a native of Oglethorpe County.

Survivors include a son, Terry Woods, Lexington; a daughter, Hope Martin, Lexington; a brother, Willie Ed Woods, Athens; three sisters, Martha Watkins, Lexington, Thelma Turner, Crawford, Ga., and Mary Josephine Woods, Athens; and four grandchildren.

Friends may call at the residence of Martha Watkins, 221 Old Fairground Road, Lexington.

Jones Lexington Funeral Home, Lexington, is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Sallie Yaun

Retired textile worker

AIKEN -- Mrs. Sallie Mae Seago Yaun, 90, of 123 DuPont Drive N.W., died Saturday, April 11, 1998, at Beverly Health Care Center.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Shellhouse Funeral Home with the Rev. Fred Andrea officiating. Burial will be in Graniteville Cemetery, Graniteville.

Mrs. Yaun, a native of Edgefield, had retired from United Merchants and Manufacturing Co. as a textile worker. She was a member of First Baptist Church, where she worked in the nursery.

Survivors include two sons, Andrew T. Yaun, Graniteville, and Leonard A. Yaun, Aiken; a daughter, Alice J. Turner, Aiken; and seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Edward W. Yaun, Andrew G. Yaun, Loyd Yaun, Jeffery Heath and George E. Couch.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church Nursery, 120 Chesterfield St. N.W., Aiken, SC 29801.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Richard York

Mr. Richard F. York, 42, of 1717 Greenway Drive, died Friday, April 10, 1998, at Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

Mr. Willie Myrick

Sawmill employee

NORWOOD, Ga. -- Mr. Willie C. Myrick, 55, of 2372 Veasey Road, died Thursday, April 9, 1998, at his residence.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at St. John African Methodist Episcopal Church with the Rev. William Wright Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Gospel Aid Society Cemetery.

Mr. Myrick, a native of Warren County, was a sawmill employee and a member of Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church.

Survivors include his wife, Lottie Myrick; a son, Tony Seals, Norwood; two daughters, Phyllis Taylor, Norwood, and Karen Myrick, Crawfordville; four brothers, Caldwell Myrick and Willie ``Junk'' Myrick, both of Chicago, Charlie C. Myrick, Norwood, and Charlie ``Randy'' Myrick, Thomson; five sisters, Evoine Myrick, Allie Myrick and Rose Myrick, all of Norwood, and Evelyn Myrick and Faye Myrick, both of Thomson; and nine grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be nephews.

Friends may call at Dawson's Mortuary, Warrenton.

Mr. Haulin Asbury

Retired oiler

WASHINGTON, Ga. -- Mr. Haulin ``H'' Asbury, 85, of 313 McGuire St., died Saturday, April 11, 1998.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at St. James Christian Methodist Episcopal Church with the Rev. Skip Mason officiating. Burial will be in City West Cemetery.

Mr. Asbury, a native of Wilkes County, had retired from railroad work as an oiler. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of St. James Christian Methodist Episcopal Church.

Survivors include a son, Haulin Asbury Jr., Stone Mountain; a daughter, Cornelia Jones, Augusta; a brother, Aurthur Asbury Jr., Conway, S.C.; and seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

McLendon Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Maurice Baber

Retired business owner

TYBEE ISLAND, GA. -- Mr. Maurice Eugene Baber, 73, died Saturday, April 11, 1998, at his residence.

Graveside services will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Hillcrest Memorial Park, Augusta.

Mr. Baber, a native of Augusta, was a longtime Tybee Island resident. He had retired as owner of East Georgia Wholesale Jewelry. He was a graduate of the Academy of Richmond County and Boy's Catholic High School. He was a Navy Seabees veteran of World War II and a Navy veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of Elks Lodge No. 205, Augusta.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Baber; a son, Michael Baber, Tybee Island; two daughters, Pamela Coffer, Savannah, and Deborah J. Baber, Macon; and one grandchild.

Hubert C. Baker Funeral Home, Savannah, is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Robert Bates

Retiree

ELKO, S.C. -- Mr. Robert Bates died Sunday, April 12, 1998, at his residence.

The funeral will be at 4 p.m. Friday at St. Peter Baptist Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mr. Bates, a native of Barnwell County, had retired. He was a member of St. Peter Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Janie Lou Rice Bates; and a sister, Ella Bates, New York.

Friends may call at Green's Funeral Home, Blackville.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Mr. Lee Brinkley

Retired civil servant

DEARING -- Mr. Lee Brinkley, 83, of 333 Printup St., died Monday, April 13, 1998, at Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Augusta.

The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Dearing Baptist Church with the Revs. Hugh McRae and Mike Timmerman officiating. Burial will be in Dearing Memorial Cemetery.

Mr. Brinkley, a native of Warren County, was a longtime Dearing resident. He had retired from civil service and as a carpenter. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of Dearing Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Daisy S. Brinkley; three daughters, Irene Huddleston, Augusta, Jearline Greene, Dearing, and Jane Strickland, Thomson; a brother, Velmar Brinkley, Thomson; two sisters, Ann Grant, Thomson, and Kathryn Chalker, Avera; and eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Raymond Brinkley, Richard Grant, Alvin Radford, Jack Radford, Jerry Brinkley, Chester Radford and Charlie Norris.

Friends may call at the residence or at Curtis Funeral Home, Thomson.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mrs. Jean Brown

Retired teacher

BARNWELL, S.C. -- Mrs. Jean Cushing Huie Brown, 71, of 992 Moore Drive, died Monday, April 13, 1998, at her residence.

The funeral will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Seven Pines Baptist Church, Snelling, with the Rev. Billy Meu officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Brown, a native of Florida, had retired as a teacher. She was a graduate of Gulf Coast Community College and a past president of the American Association of Retired Persons. She was a member of Seven Pines Baptist Church.

Survivors include two sons, Bradley P. Brown, Barnwell, and James V. Brown, Tennessee; two daughters, Camella Brown Black, Barnwell, and Jeanne Cumbie, Hains City, Fla.; and seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Pallbearers will be Steve Huffman, Ralph Corell, Sandy Nettles, Jessie Elmore, Danny Cheek, Owen Black, David Black and Ryfus Lewis.

Memorials may be made to Seven Pines Ball Field Fund, or to the Generations Unlimited of Barnwell.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Dyches Funeral Home.

Rev. George Coleman

Truck driver

SWAINSBORO, Ga. -- The Rev. George W. Coleman, 50, of 518 Miller Drive, died Thursday, April 9, 1998, at Emanuel Medical Center.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. today at Williams Grove Holiness Church with the Rev. John Harmon officiating. Burial will be in Swainsboro City Cemetery.

The Rev. Coleman, a native of Swainsboro, had been a truck driver for Bowman Trucking Co. for 22 years. He was a minister and assistant pastor of Coleman Temple Holiness Church. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a member of Church of the Living God.

Survivors include his wife, Lela B. Coleman; five sons, Frederick B. Coleman, Christopher A. Coleman, Eugene Coleman, Reginald F. Coleman and Michael A. Coleman, all of Swainsboro; three daughters, Eugenia Coleman, Charlotte E. Coleman and Natasha A. Coleman, all of Swainsboro; his mother, Lucille Coleman, Swainsboro; six brothers, John Coleman, Waitus Coleman, Arthur Coleman and Paul Coleman, all of Swainsboro, Clarence Coleman Sr., Gulfport, Miss., and Robert Coleman, Trenton, N.J.; two sisters, Geraldine Durden and Alice Foots, both of Swainsboro; and two grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Dennis Coney, Harry Williams, Archie Dukes, Buford Easterling, Sammy Jordan and Gregory Turner.

Honorary pallbearers will be ministers.

Friends may call at the residence.

Mrs. Janice Davis

Bookkeeper

GOLDSBORO, N.C. -- Mrs. Janice M. Davis, 63, of 702 S. Harding Road, Apartment H3, died Friday, April 10, 1998, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.

The funeral was at 11 a.m. Monday, April 13, 1998, at First Baptist Church with Dr. Lamar Brooks officiating. Graveside services will be at noon today at Edgewood Cemetery, Greenwood, S.C., with Dr. Glenn R. Mosteller officiating.

Mrs. Davis, a native of Greenwood, was a bookkeeper for First Citizens Bank. She was a Cub Scout den mother and a member of Order of the Eastern Star, Mary Pinckney Ouzts Chapter 1. She was a member of First Baptist Church, where she was a former Sunday school teacher and a member of the Virginia Henderson Sunday School Class.

Survivors include two sons, Terry F. Davis, Salem, Ill., and Darrell B. Davis, Lumberton; a daughter, Kimberly Dawn Davis, Goldsboro; a brother, Glenn R. Mosteller, Laurens, S.C.; and a sister, Jean M. Cowart, Greenwood.

Memorials may be made to Kitty Askins Hospice Center Acute Care Wing, 107 Handley Park Place, Goldsboro, NC 27530; or to First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 1538, Goldsboro, NC 27533.
