Mrs. Rosa Junior

Mrs. Rosa Junior, 85, of Martinez, died Wednesday, April 22, 1998, at Columbia Augusta Medical Center.

The funeral will be at noon Monday at Nazarene Baptist Church, Fairfax, S.C., with the Rev. B.J. Burison Jr. officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Junior, a native of Allendale County, S.C., was a former resident of Fairfax and a member of Nazarene Baptist Church.

Survivors include a son, Robert Lee Junior, Neptune, N.J.; and two grandchildren.

Friends may call at Riley's Funeral Home, Fairfax.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mrs. Thelma Malcom

DUBLIN, Ga. -- Mrs. Thelma Norton Malcom, 77, died Friday, April 24, 1998, at Dublinair Nursing Home.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Northview Cemetery with the Rev. Fred O. Pitts Jr. officiating.

Mrs. Malcom, a native of Coffee County, Tenn., had lived in Dublin for 21 years. She was a member of the Church of Christ.

Survivors include a son, Robert Earl Malcom Jr., Dublin; a brother, Robert Burton Norton, Columbia, Tenn.; and a sister, Peggy Norton Cole, Murfreesboro, Tenn.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Richard and Joyce Stanley Funeral Home.

Mr. James Maxwell

DuPont retiree

AIKEN -- Mr. James Corry ``J.C.'' Maxwell, 85, of 17 Barnhill Road, died Saturday, April 25, 1998, at Aiken Regional Medical Centers.

The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Monday at Shellhouse Funeral Home with the Revs. Fred Andrea and Mike Terry officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memory Gardens, Graniteville.

Mr. Maxwell, a native of Haleyville, Ala., had lived in Aiken since 1952. He had retired from DuPont at the Savannah River Plant after more than 35 years in the nuclear power industry. He was a member of the American Society of Electrical Engineers and the American Society of Instrumentation Engineers.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth Jackson Maxwell; three sons, Charles A. Maxwell, Hollis, N.H., Joe C. Maxwell, Winter Park, Fla., and James M. Maxwell, Concord, N.C.; a brother, Charles Maxwell, Paducah, Ky.; 16 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, 1003 Hammond Road, Aiken, SC 29803.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Hubert Renew

Graniteville Co. retiree

AIKEN -- Mr. Hubert J. ``Red'' Renew, 75, of 1385 Silver Bluff Road, died Friday, April 24, 1998, at Aiken Regional Medical Centers.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Napier Funeral Home, Graniteville, with the Revs. Bruce Palmer and Derrick Cutter officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memory Gardens, Graniteville.

Mr. Renew, a native of Macon, had retired from the Gregg Division of the Graniteville Co. He was an Army veteran and operated a veterans' home in Graniteville for 25 years. He was a member of St. John United Methodist Church, Graniteville.

Survivors include a son, Edward Renew, Graniteville; two daughters, Lynn Montgomery, Rock Hill, and Lois Morrison, Graniteville; a brother, Fred Renew, Aiken; two sisters, Virginia Hall and Myrtis Timmerman, both of Aiken; and four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Pallbearers will be Ollie Eubanks, Ed Holsenback, John Reese, Jerry Couch, Lee Posey and Jack Williams.

Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, South Carolina affiliate, 2711 Middleburg Road, Columbia, SC 29204.

Friends may call at the residence of Lois Morrison, 317 Square Circle Road, Graniteville.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Johnnie Robinson

General Motors Corp. retiree

WILMINGTON, Del. -- Mr. Johnnie ``J.R.'' Robinson, 57, died Tuesday, April 21, 1998.

The funeral will be at 3 p.m. today at Parrish Grove Baptist Church, Twin City, Ga., with the Rev. William L. Eason officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mr. Robinson, a native of Emanuel County, Ga., had lived in Wilmington for 40 years. He had retired from General Motors Corp. after 30 years of service. He was a member of Star in the East Masonic Lodge No. 1, Wilmington, and Ezion Fair Baptist Church, Wilmington.

Survivors include three sons, Johnnie Robinson Jr., Kelvin Robinson and Tyrone Robinson, all of Wilmington; his mother, Lula Robinson, Twin City; two brothers, Felix Robinson, Marlboro, Mass., and Stanley Robinson, Atlanta; three sisters, Lillie Reynolds and Eva Smith, both of Twin City, and Mary Alice Cross, Elizabeth, N.J.; and one grandchild.

Whitaker Funeral Home, Metter, Ga., is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Susie Smith

Saluda Shirt Plant retiree

SALUDA, S.C. -- Mrs. Susie Bodie Smith, 76, of Route 2, Highway 178 W., died Friday, April 24, 1998, at Self Memorial Hospital, Greenwood.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Ramey Funeral Home with the Rev. Marvin Bedenbaugh officiating. Burial will be in Travis Park Cemetery.

Mrs. Smith, a native of Saluda County, had retired from Saluda Shirt Plant.

Survivors include three sons, Billy Smith, Carroll Smith and Charles Richard Smith, all of Saluda; and one daughter, Janice Shealy, Saluda.

Pallbearers will be Rodney Smith, Derrick Smith, Steven Smith, Kevin Smith, Chad Shealy, Leonard Smith, Harold Bodie and Grady Temples.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Thomas Smith

Retired civil servant

PRINGLE, Ga. -- Mr. Thomas Andrew Smith, 74, died Friday, April 24, 1998, at Medical College of Georgia Hospital, Augusta.

The funeral will be at 4:30 p.m. today at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, Washington County, with the Revs. Lee Daniel and Jimmy Harris officiating. Burial will be in New Cemetery, Washington County.

Mr. Smith, a native of Washington County, had retired from civil service at Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Dublin. He was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Imogene Tanner Smith; three sons, Robert Mathis, Douglas, Stephen Smith, Conyers, and Charles A. Smith, Wrightsville; a daughter, Judy Yawn, Duluth; a brother, Henry Ford, Colbert; and five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Waylon Roberts, Tony Marshall, Wilmer Tanner, Vince Tanner, Carl Smith and Calvin Smith.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimers Association or to the American Heart Association.

Mrs. Lorena Thornburg

Retired restaurant owner

Mrs. Lorena Thompson Thornburg, 81, of 1824 Greene St., died Friday, April 24, 1998, at Magnolia Hill Nursing Home.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Elliott Sons Funeral Home, Telfair Street, with the Rev. Kelly McKnight officiating. Burial will be in West View Cemetery.

Mrs. Thornburg, a native of Augusta, had retired as owner of the Hicks Street Lunch Room. She was a member of Bible Deliverance Church.

Survivors include two sisters, Rosena Thompson Autrey and Jessie Mae Jones, both of Augusta.

Pallbearers will be Buddy Autrey, Johnnie Green, Donald Autrey, Bobby Autrey, Howard Youngblood and Billy Thompson.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Don VanNest

RIDGE SPRING, S.C. -- Mr. Don VanNest, 54, of Columbia Highway North, died Friday, April 24, 1998.

Graveside services will be at 4 p.m. Monday at Mount Calvary Lutheran Church Cemetery, Johnston, with the Revs. Chris Ficher and Brad Richardson officiating.

Mr. VanNest, a native of Aiken, was a salesman for Edwards Oil Co. and a member of Mount Calvary Lutheran Church.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce McCarty VanNest; two sons, Jeffery L. VanNest, Leesville, and Jason VanNest, Ridge Spring; and one stepgrandchild.

Mr. James Watson, 76, of 2231 Sullivan Road, died Thursday, April 23, 1998, at Columbia Augusta Medical Center.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Walker Memorial Park with Don Cisick officiating.

Mr. Watson, a native of Washington, had retired.

Survivors include an aunt, Elizabeth Cook.

Friends may call after 3 p.m. today at C.A. Reid Sr. Memorial Funeral Home.
