Mr. Ollie Lane

Tractor dealer

MILLEN, Ga. -- Mr. Ollie Lane, 75, of 442 U.S. Highway 25 S., died Tuesday, April 28, 1998, at Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Augusta.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Elam Baptist Church with the Revs. Newman Samples, D.R. Parker and Bill Brown officiating. Burial will be in Elam Cemetery.

Mr. Lane, a native of Jenkins County, was a Ford tractor dealer and had served as a Jenkins County commissioner. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of Rosemary Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon. He had been a member of Jenkins County Development Authority and was a member of Southeastern Dealers Equipment Association.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Lewis Lane; one son, Richard McNeely, Millen; one brother, Glover Lane, Millen; two sisters, Alma Fields and Ivelyn Burke, both of Millen; and three grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Steve Burke, Don Burke, Wayne Fields, Lewis Lane, Emory Lane Jr., Randy Lane and Anthony Cowart.

Honorary pallbearers will be deacons of Rosemary Baptist Church and present and former Jenkins County commissioners.

Friends may call until noon Friday at Crowe-Fields Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Zetrich Lewis

Mr. Zetrich M. Lewis, 32, of 2078 Leonard Drive, died Saturday, April 25, 1998, at Medical College of Georgia Hospital.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Mount Vernon Baptist Church with the Rev. Marvin McRae officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Mr. Lewis, a native of Richmond County, had attended T.W. Josey High School and Lyndale Training School.

Survivors include his mother, Frances Lewis, Augusta; two brothers, Antonio Lewis and Tavarius Lewis, both of Augusta; two sisters, Henrietta Henderson, Hephzibah, and Vontrice M. Lewis, Augusta; and his maternal grandparents, Cleveland and Katerine Lewis, Augusta.

Pallbearers will be Carl Collins, Clarence Ruffin, Arthur Ruffin, Craig Curry and Tyrone Adams.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at Williams Funeral Home.

Rev. Bennie Morrison

Retired minister

AIKEN -- The Rev. Bennie J. Morrison, 64, of 3304 Westmont Drive, died Tuesday, April 28, 1998, at Aiken Regional Medical Centers.

The funeral will be at 5 p.m. Friday at Warrenville Revival Center, Warrenville, with the Revs. Leroy Love and Jimmy Spires officiating. Burial will be in Graniteville Cemetery, Graniteville.

The Rev. Morrison, a native of Treutlen County, Ga., was a retired minister and a member of Aiken First Pentecostal Holiness Church.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret Padgett Morrison; two sons, Gary Morrison, Stiefeltown, and Scottie Morrison, Warrenville; four daughters, Joan M. Stringer, Janet M. Seigler, Jennifer M. Garcia and Judy Morrison, all of Aiken; one brother, Tommy Morrison, Aiken; one sister, Barbara Senn, Vaucluse; and 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Gerry Morrison, Scottie Morrison, Chris Stringer, Manuel Garcia, Ricky Seigler and Carrol Love.

Friends may call at the residence.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Napier Funeral Home, Graniteville.

Mrs. Ella Ratcliffe

Retired office clerk

JACKSON -- Mrs. Ella Brown Ratcliffe, 63, of 414 Fifth St., died Wednesday, April 29, 1998, in Augusta.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at First Baptist Church of Jackson with the Revs. Donald Lumpkin and Edward Newsome officiating. Burial will be in Southlawn Cemetery, Aiken.

Mrs. Ratcliffe, a native of Bane, Va., was retired from Coordinated Apparel as an office clerk and was a member of First Baptist Church of Jackson, where she was a member of Dorcas Sunday School Class, the adult choir and Women's Missionary Union.

Survivors include her husband, Donald Clay Ratcliffe; one son, Kevin Ratcliffe, North Augusta; two daughters, Donna Hooks, Jackson, and Terri Ryder, Aiken; three brothers, P.W. Brown, Garden City, William Brown, Pearisburg, Va., and Frank Brown, Staffordsville, Va.; one sister, June Sumpter, Staffordsville; and three grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Norman Barnett, Donny McIver, Melvin Weathersbee, Alan Flanders, Gary Thornton and Mike Stripling.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Dorcas Sunday School Class and adult choir of First Baptist Church of Jackson.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. today at Stephen D. Posey Funeral Home, North Augusta.

Rev. Harold Shoemaker

Retired minister of music

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The Rev. Harold I. Shoemaker died Monday, April 27, 1998.

A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Pritchard Memorial Baptist Church, preceded by the burial in Statesville.

The Rev. Shoemaker, a native of Statesville, was a retired minister of music and associate pastor of Pritchard Memorial Baptist Church. He served Curtis Baptist Church, Augusta, and churches in Winston-Salem, Miami, Raleigh and High Point. After retiring, he served as interim minister of music at First Baptist Church, Marion, Providence Baptist Church, Charlotte, First Baptist Church, Hickory, and First Baptist Church, Winston-Salem.

The family said he was among the pioneers in full-time ministers of music in Baptist churches in North Carolina and was a popular soloist, choral director and worship leader at numerous state and national Baptist assemblies.

Survivors include his wife, Irene Holland Shoemaker; two sons, Stephen Shoemaker, Fort Worth, Texas, and Jim Shoemaker, Charlotte; one daughter, Susan Shoemaker Snead, Charlotte; and eight grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Pritchard Memorial Baptist Church, Sanctuary Organ Fund, 1117 South Blvd., Charlotte, NC 28203.

The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Friday at Hankins and Whittington Funeral Service.

Mrs. Willie Smith

Homemaker

TENNILLE, Ga. -- Mrs. Willie Mae Smith, 71, of 13268 Georgia Highway 68 S., died Monday, April 27, 1998.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Samuel Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Eddie Dean Smith officiating. Burial will be in Bay Spring Cemetery.

Mrs. Smith, a native of Washington County, was a homemaker.

Survivors include six sons, Calvin Smith, Oak Park, Mich., Leonard Smith, Gerald Smith and Eddie Smith, all of Dublin, William Smith, Atlanta, and Tony Smith, Tennille; two daughters, Shirley Hines, Wrightsville, and Dianne Smith, Tennille; four brothers, Eugene Woods, Louis Woods and Amos Woods, all of Detroit, and Charlie Woods, Miami; and four sisters, Mary Lois Thompson, Marion Lane, Evelyn Rogers and Ida Prescott, all of Detroit.

M.C. Smith Funeral Home, Sandersville, is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. M. Luther Todd

Retired farmer

METTER, Ga. -- Mr. M. Luther Todd, 88, of Route 3, died Wednesday, April 29, 1998, at Candler County Hospital.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Kennedy-Morgan Funeral Home with the Revs. Mark Sellers and Pat Quattlebaum officiating. Burial will be in Cool Springs Cemetery.

Mr. Todd, a native of Jefferson County, was a retired farmer and bus driver. He was a member of Cedar Street Baptist Church, where he was a member of the Sunday school class.

Survivors include his wife, Janie Harper Todd; one son, Luther H. Todd, Statesboro; one daughter, Bobby Ann Fagan, Martinez; and seven grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Royce Mosley, Garland Collins, Luke Bird, Mike Donaldson, Mack Snipes and Thomas Fagan.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the adult men's Sunday school class of Cedar Street Baptist Church.
