GREENWOOD, S.C. -- Mrs. Mary Harrison Batchelor Deal, 71, of 1291 Calhoun Road, died Tuesday, May 5, 1998, at Self Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be at 3:30 p.m. today at Blyth Funeral Home with the Rev. Jonathan W. Payne officiating. Burial will be in Tranquil United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Deal, a native of Greenwood, was a retired buying supervisor with Sears Roebuck and Co. and a member of First Southern Methodist, Augusta.

Survivors include her husband, David Arnold Deal; two brothers, Fletcher Harrison and Bobby Harrison; and three grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Carl Butler, Johnny Blaxton, Tommy Harrison, Jerry Roe and Belton Roe.

Memorials may be made to Tranquil United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, 1702 McCormick Highway, Greenwood, SC 29646.

Mr. Dan Hendrix

METTER, Ga. -- Mr. Dan W. Hendrix, 70, of Route 2, died Tuesday, May 5, 1998, at Candler County Hospital.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Primitive Grove Primitive Baptist Church, Cobbtown, with Richard Davis, elder, officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mr. Hendrix, a native of Metter, was retired from the Marine Corps and was a member of Primitive Grove Primitive Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Hisako Hendrix; one son, Glenn Hendrix, Swainsboro; two daughters, Nancy Hollenbeck, Augusta, and Linda Bird, Metter; three brothers, C.B. Hendrix, Metter, Grady Hendrix, Gulfport, Miss., and Joe Hendrix, Counce, Tenn.; five sisters, Ann Craig, Metter, Bertha Ross, Dallas, and Margaret Landrum, Savannah; and four grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Sammy Hendrix, Danny Anderson, Grady Franklin, Dave Moyer, Johnny Hendrix and Ken Mangelsdorf.

Friends may call at Wood Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

The funeral will be at 4 p.m. Friday at Hatcher Funeral Home, Langley, with the Rev. Richard Swift officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memory Gardens, Graniteville.

Mrs. Keenan, a native of Bath, was a homemaker and a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church, Bath.

Survivors include her husband, Byron K. Keenan; two stepsons, Curtis G. Nichols and Ronald G. Nichols, both of Aiken; one daughter, Nikki Elizabeth Felker, Beech Island; one stepdaughter, Brenda Kay Keenan, Clearwater; two brothers, Bobby Langley, Bath, and Carl Langley, Burnettown; one sister, Betty Sue Laramore, Denton, Texas; and four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren

Pallbearers will be Ricky Langley, Darryl Meyer, Tony Langley, Joey Meyer, Ronnie Hamilton and Phillip Proctor.

Mrs. Louise McClerklin

HEPHZIBAH -- Mrs. Louise Jackson McClerklin, 64, of 4367 Creekview Drive, died Tuesday, May 5, 1998, at Columbia Augusta Medical Center.

The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Williams Funeral Home, Augusta, with the Rev. Ellis Rice officiating. Burial will be in Mount Olive Memorial Gardens, Augusta.

Mrs. McClerklin, a native of Claxton, was retired from Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center as a registered nurse. She attended Daisy Central Public School and graduated from the Dickerson Training High School, Vidalia. She attended Georgia State College, Savannah, Paine College, Augusta, and Lamar School of Nursing, Augusta, where she received her bachelors of nursing degree.

Survivors include her husband, James McClerklin; three sons, Andrew Jackson, Fargo, N.D., Rommel Jackson, Aiken, and Hester Jackson, Augusta; three daughters, Ella Jones Winfrey, Winifred Johnson and Rene Brown, all of Augusta; two brothers, Leavy Jones, Virginia, and Arthur Jones, Florida; and 10 grandchildren.

Friends may call at the residence of Winifred Johnson, 3111 Bellemeade Drive or Williams Funeral Home.

Mrs. Nellie Phillips

Mr. Malvern Whitaker

IRVING, Texas -- Mr. Malvern R. Whitaker, 71, died Monday, May 4, 1998, at his residence.

The funeral will be at 9 a.m. Wednesday at Fort Myers Chapel, Arlington, Va. Burial will be in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington.

Mr. Whitaker, a native of Augusta, was a retired Army officer and a Christian. He was a member of Sons of the American Revolution and the National Republican Committee. He was the recipient of many commendations and medals including the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star, Air Medal, Army Commendation, Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Unit Citation, Army Good Conduct, Navy Good Conduct, National Defense Service and World War II Victory.

Survivors include two sons, John Marshall Whitaker, Apple Valley, Calif., and Kevin Michael Whitaker, Nicaragua; one daughter, Patricia Priesing, Pennington, N.J.; one brother, John Emery Whitaker, Augusta; and five grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband, James David Woodson, Martinez; two daughters, Jennifer Rebekah Woodson and Stephanie Rachel Woodson, both of Martinez; her father, John N. Price, Brevard; one brother, John C. Price, Brevard; and two sisters, Virginia Penland, Brevard, and Dot Owen, Balsam Grove, N.C.
