Mr. Theodore Polk Sr.

X-ray technician

ATLANTA -- Mr. Theodore C. Polk Sr., 69, of 1670 Clairmont Road, died Saturday, May 9, 1998, in Dekalb County.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Anthony Catholic Church. Burial will be in Resthaven Cemetery.

Mr. Polk, a native of Macon, was an X-ray technician and an Army veteran of the Korean conflict. He was a Mason, Shriner and a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church.

Survivors include one son, Theodore C. Polk Jr., Clinton, Md.; one daughter, Brenda Polk Maxey, Hephzibah; four brothers, Edward Polk, Rudolph Polk, Donald Polk and Cornelius Polk; two sisters, Thelma Polk Collier and Blanche Polk; and six grandchildren.

Dawson and Son Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. James Satcher Sr.

Retired Ford dealer

JOHNSTON, S.C. -- Mr. James Heber Satcher Sr., 88, died Monday, at Aiken Regional Medical Centers.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Mount Olive Cemetery with the Revs. Keith Polk and Paul Frey officiating.

Mr. Satcher, a native of Edgefield County, was a retired Ford dealer and farmer. He was a member of Johnston United Methodist Church and a Navy veteran of World War II, where he served with the strategic forces unit. He was a Paul Harris Fellow in the Aiken Rotary Club, a Shriner with Almas Temple, Washington, and a former South Carolina district highway commissioner.

Survivors include two sons, James H. Satcher Jr., Johnston, and Benjamin W. Satcher, Lexington.

Pallbearers will be James H. ``Chip'' Satcher III, David S. Satcher, Ricky Heath, John Boatwright, Ben W. Satcher Jr., Robert Satcher, Johnny Gray and Roy Cleveland.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Aiken Rotary Club.

Memorials may be made to Johnston United Methodist Church.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Bland Funeral Home.

Mr. Willie Scott Sr.

Retired maintenance mechanic

GRANITEVILLE -- Mr. Willie Joe Austin Scott Sr., 64, of 108 Spring Drive, died Tuesday, May 12, 1998, at University Hospital, Augusta.

The funeral will be at 5 p.m. Thursday at Horse Creek Baptist Church with the Revs. Earl Carter, Bruce Palmer and Tony Rhodes officiating. Burial will be in Graniteville Cemetery

Mr. Scott, a native of Vaucluse, was retired from Peridot Chemical Plant, Augusta, was a maintenance mechanic. He organized Graniteville Trucking Co. and Scott's General Construction. He was a member of Little Horse Creek Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon, adult men's Sunday school class teacher and chairman of the men's council. He was a charter member of the Graniteville-Vaucluse-Warrenville Volunteer Fire Department, where he served as assistant fire chief.

The family said he was known by all at the church as ``Papa Willie.''

Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann Washington Scott; three sons, Robert ``Bobby'' Scott and Thomas E. Scott, both of Graniteville, and Willie ``Bill'' Scott Jr., North Augusta; one daughter, JoAnn Scott Widener, Aiken; one brother, Raymond O. Scott Sr., Warrenville; and eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Pallbearers will be William Gregory, Jimmy Wood, Jimmy Maness, Wayne Huff, Jimmy Jackson and Grady Beck.

Friends may call at the residence.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Napier Funeral Home.

Mr. Jessie Turner

Clearwater Finishing Plant retiree

GLOVERVILLE -- Mr. Jessie L. Turner, 76, of Lot G, Henson Trailer Park, died Tuesday, May 12, 1998, at Aiken Regional Medical Centers, Aiken.

The funeral will be at 4 p.m. Thursday at Hatcher Funeral Home, Langley, with the Revs. Roy Hayes and Ed Turner officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memory Gardens, Graniteville.

Mr. Turner, a native of Johnston, was retired from Clearwater Finishing Plant and was a member of Harmony Baptist Church. He was an Army veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Emmie Boatwright Turner; two sons, Raymond Turner, Gloverville, and Donald Turner, Belvedere; one brother, Edward Turner, Aiken; one sister, Malena Anderson, Warrenville; and eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Chris Hammett, Raymond Turner, Harley Henkes, Eddie Turner, Clark Turner, Charles Turner and Jeff Turner.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Sidney Wheeler

Mr. Wheeler, a native of Stillmore, Ga., was retired from S & P Grading.

Survivors include four sons, Billy Wheeler, McDonough, Ga., Stanley Wheeler, Jonesboro, Ga., Jerry Wheeler, Nicholson, and Michael Dennis Wheeler, Morrow; four daughters, Patricia Weathersbee, Bath, Maria Lynn Wheeler, Smyrna, Ga., Wanda Jo Kidd, Forest Park, Ga., and Angela Delane Wheeler; his mother, Mamie Wheeler, Belvedere; three brothers, James L. Wheeler, Bath, Ervin Wheeler, Swainsboro, Ga., and Marvin Wheeler, Graniteville; seven sisters, Bonnie Hutto, Betty Jean Able and Vivian Antwine, all of Bath, Margie Black, Bartow, Kathleen Coxwell, Swainsboro, Lois Leophart, New Ellenton, and Doris Fulmer, Langley; and seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Mr. Wright was a native of Vance.

Mr. Orris Barber

World War I veteran

BARNWELL, S.C. -- Mr. Orris B. Barber, 102, died Monday, May 11, 1998, in Aiken.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Barnwell United Methodist Church Cemetery with Bob Clyburn officiating.

Mr. Barber, a native of Denmark, Ohio, was retired from C.G. Fuller and was an Army Veteran of World War I. He attended Ohio University and Columbia University, where he received his masters degree. He was a member of Masonic Paramuthia Lodge 25 in Athens, Ohio, the Lions Club, American Legion-Richardson Walsh Post 46 and Barnwell United Methodist Church.

Survivors include one cousin, Don Wright, Ohio.

Survivors include his wife, Bernice Usry Batchelor; one son, Brady Batchelor, Augusta; one daughter, Judy Fiedler, Dallas; one sister, Maude Harrington, Brunswick; and three grandchildren.
