Mrs. Georgia Riner

SWAINSBORO, Ga. -- Mrs. Georgia Brinson Riner, 78, died Tuesday, May 12, 1998, at Bulloch Memorial Hospital, Statesboro.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. today at Union Primitive Baptist Church with Tommy Rountree and William Claxton, elders, officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Riner, a native of Emanuel County, was retired from Creston Knitting Mills and was a member of Union Primitive Baptist Cemetery.

Survivors include three sons, Larry Riner and Denny Riner, both of Swainsboro, and Ted Riner, Statesboro; and five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Bunny Hudson, William Riner, Tommy Sconyers, Corbin Wiggins, Monty Wilson, Riner Wiggins, Jerry Brinson and Lynn Riner.

Honorary pallbearers will be residents of Swainsboro Presbyterian Apartments.

Memorials may be made to Union Primitive Baptist Church Clean Cemetery Fund.

Peebles-Curry-Durden Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Allen Tager

Residential roofer

COLUMBIA -- Mr. Allen Tager, 49, died Monday, May 11, 1998.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at First Church of The Living God, South Congaree.

Mr. Tager, a native of South Carolina, was a residential roofer and a member of First Church of The Living God.

Survivors include one son, Allen Scott Tager, Elgin; a stepson, Paul Jolly, Olympia; three brothers, Jack Tager, Gaston, Bennie Tager, Texas, and George Tager, Augusta; two sisters, Susan Chapman, Aiken, and Dessie Boles, Pelion; and two grandchildren.

Talbert-Shives Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Horace Tanner

Retired police chief

LOUISVILLE, Ga. -- Mr. Horace J. Tanner, 75, of 1113 Rosemary Drive, died Wednesday, May 13, 1998, at his residence.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Louisville First Baptist Church with the Rev. Freddie Williford officiating. Burial will be in Jefferson Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Tanner, a native of Washington County, was retired at the chief of police in Louisville. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church and Peace Officers Association of Georgia.

Survivors include his wife, Jeanette Davis Tanner; one son, Jimmy Tanner, Lawrenceville; one daughter, Jean T. Christian, Evans; two sisters, Sue Beckworth, Atlanta, and Betty Sheppard, Sandersville; and five grandchildren and one great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be his nephews.

Honorary pallbearers will be local law enforcement.

Friends may call at the residence.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Johnson-Grier Funeral Home.

Mr. Wesley Wilkins

World War II veteran

Mr. Wesley ``Wes'' P. Wilkins died Monday, May 11, 1998, at St. Joseph Hospital.

Mr. Wilkins donated his body to the Medical College of Georgia.

He was a World War II veteran and was a retired Esselte Corporation supervisor.

Memorials may be made to St. Joseph Hospice, 2260 Wrightsboro Road, Augusta, GA 30904.

Mr. Leonard Bell Sr.

DuPont retiree

RIDGE SPRING, S.C. -- Mr. Leonard Bell Sr., 71, of 1151 Whispering Road, died Wednesday, May 13, 1998, at Aiken Regional Medical Centers.

The funeral will be at noon Saturday at Jerusalem Baptist Church with the Rev. Sim Murray officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mr. Bell, a native of Aiken County, was retired from DuPont and was a member of Jerusalem Baptist Church, where he was president of the burial and benevolent society. He was a member of Wide Awake Lodge 252 and the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People.

Survivors include his wife, Annie Mae Bell; two sons, Leonard Bell Jr., Ridge Spring, and Marvin Bell, Lithonia, Ga.; four daughters, Linda Abney, Aiken, Joyce Winkler, Columbia, Sherie Green, Augusta, and Cynthia Faulks, Hyattsville, Md.; three brothers, James Bell, Ridge Spring, William Bell, St. Alban, N.Y., and Paul Bell, Hempstead, N.Y.; four sisters, Mary Myles and Sadie Davis, both of Ridge Spring, Helen Friend, Richmond, Va., and Lillie Rowlette, Ettrick, Va.; and eight grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Jerusalem Baptist Church.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at Davis Funeral Home.

Mr. James Brown Sr.

Construction foreman

SANDERSVILLE, Ga. -- Mr. James Clemon ``Jimmy'' Brown Sr., 63, of 5674 Georgia Highway 24 W., died Thursday, May 14, 1998.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Ohoopee Baptist Church with the Rev. Paul Melton officiating. A private burial will be in Zeta Cemetery, Tennille.

Mr. Brown, a native of Washington County, was a foreman with Kaolin Construction and a member of Ohoopee Baptist Church, where he served as deacon, and Georgia Baptist Carpenters of Christ.

Survivors include his wife, Gerdine Thigpen Brown; two sons, James Clemon Brown Jr., Harrison, and Jerry Lee Brown, Sandersville; one daughter, Alice Brown Glover Bartow; his mother, Cora Lee Pittman Brown; four sisters, Martha Brown and Carol Brown Hatcher, both of Dublin, and Dorothy Brown and Bobbie Brown Helton, both of Sandersville; and eight grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Ohoopee Baptist Church Building Fund.

Mr. Burns, a native of Columbia County, was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of Canaan of Galilee Baptist Church.

WAYNESBORO, Ga. -- Mr. Charles Delbert Colwell Sr., 63, of 232 Deborah Road, died Wednesday, May 13, 1998, at Burke County Hospital.

Mr. Colwell, a native of Taylor, Mich., was a retired heavy machine operator and a Lutheran. He had served in the Army.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia Kuracz Colwell; two sons, Charles D. Colwell Jr., Tennessee, and Charles K. Colwell, Michigan; three daughters, Pamela Svendor and Patricia Kuzawa, both of Michigan, and Racine Colwell, Waynesboro; and four grandchildren.

Mr. Carl Crawford

Survivors include his wife, Lois Cushman; two daughters, Connie Roe and Frances Russell, both of Aiken; and four grandchildren.
