Ms. Alice Daggett

Ms. Alice Dunn Daggett, 65, of 5260 White Oak Road, Appling, died Friday, May 15, 1998, at her residence.

The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Monday at Solid Rock Baptist Church with the Rev. Willie Williams officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Ms. Daggett, a native of Columbia County, was a member of Solid Rock Baptist Church, where she was a member of the usher board.

Survivors include two sons, Frank Dunn and James H. Dunn, both of Appling; three daughters, Geneva McGhee and Debrah D. Mitchel, both of Atlanta, and Shirley A. Payne, Augusta; three brothers, Charlie Dunn, Appling, Harry Dunn, Augusta, and Walter Dunn, Grovetown; five sisters, Mary Rickerson, Mamie Garnett and Rhunett Dunn, all of Appling, and Eva Garnett and Mary L. Marshall, both of Grovetown; and 15 grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be her nephews.

Friends may call at noon today at Crawford Mortuary, Thomson, and 1 p.m. Monday at Solid Rock Baptist Church.

Mr. Melvin Herrin

Graniteville Co. retiree

RIDGE SPRING, S.C. -- Mr. Melvin Herrin, 62, of 95 Herrin Road, died Friday, May 15, 1998.

The funeral will be at 2:30 p.m. today at Dry Creek Baptist Church, Ward, with the Revs. Fred Mann and Nevelle Rambert officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mr. Herrin, a native of Edgefield County, was retired from Graniteville Co. and was a member of Dry Creek Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Ruby Bodie Herrin; one son, William Herrin, Ridge Spring; two daughters, Tina H. Morrison, Ridge Spring, and Rita Herrin, Charlotte, N.C.; one brother, Ray Herrin, Graniteville; three sisters, Frances Koon and Elsie McGee, both of Warrenville, and Flora Mae Bussell, Graniteville; and three grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Watson Rhodes, Tommy Dubose, Junior Yonce, Bobby Youne, Kenny Clark and Mitch Yonce.

Memorials may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society.

Dyches Funeral Home, Barnwell, is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. John Landers

Retired postal worker

Mr. John T. ``Buddy'' Landers, 65, of 25 Tiburon Trail, Martinez, died Friday, May 15, 1998, at Medical University Hospital, Charleston, S.C.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Platt's Funeral Home, North Belair Road, with T.S. Morgan and Ed Corley officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Augusta.

Mr. Landers, a native of Augusta, was a letter carrier and an Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of Harrisburg Gospel Center.

The family said he was a loving family man and was loved by all who knew him.

Survivors include his wife, Mary H. Landers; two sons, Michael Landers, Martinez, and Cary Landers, Augusta; one brother, Jack Landers, Martinez; one sister, Doris Stewart, Augusta; and five grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Tony Heard, Bill Staten, Ted Poss, Freddy Duffy, David James and Bill Pressley.

Memorials may be made to the American Liver Foundation, 998 Pompton Ave., Cedar Grove, NJ 07009-9990.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Ms. Makerson, a native of Augusta, was a homemaker and a member of Good Shepherd Baptist Church.

Hunt Sr. and Richard Makerson, all of Washington; three sisters, Barbara Makerson and Mae Frances Green, Augusta, and Julia Mae Makerson, Washington; and one grandchild.

Mrs. Grady Miller

Mrs. Miller, a native of McDuffie County, was a retired custodian with the Richmond County Board of Education and a member of Macedonia Baptist Church.

Survivors include two sons, Willie L. Anderson Miller and Michael Miller, both of Augusta; two daughters, Laverne Clark and Patricia Miller, both of Augusta; one adopted brother, Robert Brown, Augusta; one adopted sister, Mary Goldsby, Augusta; and 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

LEESVILLE, S.C. -- Mr. Luke Wayne Polyak Sr., 64, of Atlas Drive, died Saturday, May 16, 1998.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Rehoboth United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Mr. Polyak, a native of Elyria, was retired from Saluda School District One as the adult education director. He had served in the North Carolina National Guard and the South Carolina State Guard. He was a graduate of Catawba College and Appalachian State University, where he received degrees in education. He was a member of Rehoboth United Methodist Church and the Rehoboth United Methodist Men.

Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth ``Libby'' Lyerly Polyak; two sons, Luke Wayne Polyak Jr., Batesburg, and James Michael Polyak, Leesville; two sisters, Julie Burton, Cary, N.C., and Sheila Burleson, Charlotte; and three grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Rehoboth United Methodist Church and Rehoboth United Methodist Men, Leesville, SC 29070; or the American Cancer Society.
