Ms. Grace M. Crowe, 85, of 655 N. Belair Road, Evans, died Monday, June 1, 1998, at her residence.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Platt's Funeral Home, North Belair Road, with the Rev. Jeff Hines officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Ms. Crowe, a native of Jasper, Fla., was a retired registered nurse and a member of First Church of the Nazarene.

Survivors include one daughter, Mary Ellen Price, Martinez; and six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Craig Williams, Charles Brinson, Terry Senesac, Russell Beall, Christopher Harper and Roy Barnes.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Crusaders Sunday School Class of the First Church of the Nazarene.

Memorials may be made to First Church of the Nazarene Memorial Fund, 2044 Lumpkin Road, Augusta, GA 30906; or Westwood Nursing Home, 655 N. Belair Road, Evans, GA 30809.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mrs. Willie Mae Elams

TRENTON, S.C. -- Mrs. Willie Mae Elams, 82, of 170 Courtney Road, died Wednesday, May 27, 1998, at Aiken Regional Medical Centers.

The funeral will be at 4 p.m. Thursday at Bethany Baptist Church, Clarks Hill, with the Rev. Edward Lloyd officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Elams, a native of McCormick, was a homemaker and a member of Bethany Baptist Church, where was a member of the deaconess board, choir, the Goodwill Banner Light Society and the Christian Union Society.

Survivors include one adopted daughter, Michelle Adams, New York; one brother, Henry Boyd, Clarks Hill; two sisters, Rosa Lee Merriweather, Trenton, and Katie Thurmond, Evans; and four grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be A.J. Thurmond, Raymond Merriweather, James Freeman and Robert Houston.

Friends may call at the residence or at C.A. Reid Sr. Memorial Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends at 2 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mrs. Emma Frails

HARLEM -- Mrs. Emma Jane Germany Frails, 100, of 1607 Old Appling Harlem Highway, died Friday, May 29, 1998, at Thomson Manor, Thomson.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at First Mount Moriah Baptist Church, Appling, with the Rev. James Dunn officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Frails, a native of Columbia County, was a homemaker and a member of First Mount Moriah Baptist Church, where she was mother of the church, a founder of the missionary board and served as church secretary

Survivors include five sons, Joe Frails, C.W. Frails, Johnny Frails and Phillip Frails, all of Harlem, and W.C. Frails, Thomson; seven daughters, Louise Brown, Harlem, Gladie Commings and Vivian Frails, both of Thomson, Bertell Lee, Newark, N.J., Sabina Frails and Mary Germany, both of Augusta, and Annie Bell Brooks, Roselle, N.J.; and 37 grandchildren, 66 great-grandchildren and 32 great-great-grandchildren.

Honorary pallbearers will be deacons of First Mount Moriah Baptist Church.

Friends may call at the residence or Williams Funeral Home.

Mr. William Gattman

Retired maintenance worker

Mr. William Bryan ``Mr. Bill'' Gattman, 65, of 1925 Dunham Court, died Monday, June 1, 1998, at University Hospital.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Elliott Sons Funeral Home, Lumpkin Road, with the Rev. George Holcombe officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Mr. Gattman, a native of Savannah, had retired from Kimberly-Clark as a maintenance worker. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, where he served on the USS Intrepid. He was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War.

Survivors include three daughters, Lyndy Nash, Brooksville, Fla., and Susan R. Gattman and Cheryl M. Desimas, both of Savannah, and Nancy J. Gattman, Augusta; three sisters, Katherine Hinely, Port Wentworth, Ga., Edna Berry, Savannah, and Peggy Finley, Midway; and five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Pallbearers will be J.T. Barker, Monroe Redd, Glenn Nordean, Johnny White, Jack Dukes and Jim Wilderman.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mrs. Lizzie Motes

STATESBORO, Ga. -- Mrs. Lizzie Deal Motes, 95, died Tuesday, June 2, 1998, at her residence.

The funeral will be at 4 p.m. Thursday at Bethlehem Primitive Baptist Church with John Scott and Sammy Bryant officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Motes, a native of Bulloch County, was a homemaker and a member of Bethlehem Primitive Baptist Church.

Survivors include one son, John Wilbur Motes, Statesboro; three daughters, Mary E. Aldrich, Statesboro, Lila Creech, Portal, and Doris Screen, Interlachen, Fla.; three brothers, Roger Deal and J.K. Deal, both of Statesboro, and Clarance Deal, Metter; and 14 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren and 17 great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons.

AIKEN -- Mr. George Alexander Rimer Sr., 54, of 705 Old Tory Trail, died Tuesday, June 2, 1998, at Aiken Regional Medical Centers.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Darien Baptist Church with the Rev. Jack Cole officiating.

Mr. Rimer, a native of Columbia, was a foreman with the South Carolina Department of Transportation.

Survivors include his wife, Cathy Haynes Rimer; one son, G. Alex Rimer Jr., North Augusta; one daughter, Lisa R. Thibodeau, Edgefield; and four grandchildren.

Ms. Smart was a native of Allendale County.

Survivors include her mother, Ida Smart, Fairfax; three brothers, John Miley and Frank Allen Jr., Fairfax, and Angus Ritter, Sycamore; and three sisters, Nancy White, Reatha Smart and Carolyn Allen, all of Fairfax.

Mr. John A. Sutherland, of 2102 Vail Drive, died Friday, May 29, 1998, at St. Joseph Hospital.

The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at Moses Baptist Church with the Rev. Grady Wicker Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Mount Olive Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Sutherland, a native of New York, had retired from the New York Transit Authority as a track foreman. He served in the Navy and was a member of Moses Baptist Church, where he served as deacon.

The family said his heart was filled with a mighty love that brought courage, joy and peace to everyone who knew him.

Survivors include his wife, Ruby E. Sutherland; one son, John A. Sutherland, New York; two daughters, Elaine E. Sutherland and Yvette R. Sanders, New York; one brother, Lloyd Sutherland, New York; and three grandchildren.

Mr. Robert Walton Sr.

APPLING -- Mr. Robert G. Walton Sr., 75, of 6603 Suan Drive, died Tuesday, June 2, 1998, at Dwight D. Eisenhower Army Medical Center.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. today in Millen Cemetery with the Rev. Charles Strickland officiating.

Mr. Walton, a native of Bradford, Fla., had retired from the Navy as a chief petty officer and was a veteran of World War II.

Survivors include five sons, Robert Walton, Silver Springs, Md., Ronald Walton, Suwanee, Donald Walton and Michael Walton, both of San Diego, and Kenneth Walton, Jacksonville, Fla.; two daughters, Catherine Walton and Maurine Walton, both of San Diego; one sister, Elizabeth Daniel, Augusta; and 10 grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at 10 a.m. today at Crowe-Fields Funeral Home, Millen.

Mrs. Grace Woodring

Mrs. Grace R. Woodring, 70, of 724 Greene St., died Friday, May 29, 1998, at Aiken Regional Medical Centers.

A private memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Curtis Baptist Church with the Rev. Sherrill Dunn officiating.

Mrs. Woodring, a native of Toombs County, Ga., was a retired secretary with Savannah River Site and a member of Curtis Baptist Church.

Survivors include one daughter, Karen Dillard-Nance, Portola, Calif.; her mother, Dovie Hatfield, Langley; one brother, Ernest Reese, Langley; and five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Curtis Baptist Church Music Fund, 1326 Broad St., Augusta, GA 30901.
