Mr. Ansel Day

Announcement dated June 07, 1998

AIKEN -- Mr. Ansel Day, 65, of 1134 Wind Way, died Saturday, June 6, 1998, at Aiken Regional Medical Centers.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at George Funeral Home, Park Avenue, with the Rev. W.H. Bryant officiating. Burial will be in Aiken Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Day, a native of Aiken, had retired from Southeastern Clay Co. He was a Baptist.

Survivors include two sons, Lester Edward Day, Clearwater, and Ansel Edgar Day, Aiken; three daughters, Delores Day, Beech Island, Juanita Anderson, Iva, and Teresa Lewallen, Aiken; his mother, Pearlie Day, Aiken; a brother, W.A. ``Jack'' Day, Aiken; two sisters, Ellen Day and Abie Funderburg, both of Aiken; and six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Buddy Baynham, Monroe Coffey, Robert Baynham, Bobby Goldman, Frank Price and Buddy Winham.

Friends may call at 60 Hightower Lane.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mrs. Dorine Edenfield

S.H. Kress Co. retiree

Mrs. Dorine James Edenfield, 79, of 2021 Telfair St., died Friday, June 5, 1998, at University Hospital.

The funeral will be at 4 p.m. Monday at Elliott Sons Funeral Home, Telfair Street, with the Rev. Alan Jones officiating. Burial will be in West View Cemetery.

Mrs. Edenfield, a native of Augusta, had retired from the S.H. Kress Co. as a department manager. She was a Baptist.

Her family said she was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who gave all she had to her family.

Survivors include a daughter, Kaye E. Hurst, Augusta; a brother, A.A. James, Martinez; and one grandchild and one great-grandchild.

Pallbearers will be Gary James, Wayne James, Joey Glover, Jimmy Pearre, Greg Glover and Wayne Minton.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Lindsey Golatt

Gary's Concrete Co. retiree

Mr. Lindsey ``Chief'' Golatt, of 1608 1/2 Burke St., died Thursday, June 4, 1998, at University Hospital.

The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Williams Funeral Home. Burial will be in Southview Cemetery.

Mr. Golatt, a native of Columbia County, had retired from Gary's Concrete Co.

Survivors include an adopted son, Glenn Harris, Augusta; two daughters, Carolyn Golatt and Linda Golatt, both of Augusta; three sisters, Dorothy Golatt, Catherine Williams and Eva Griffin, all of Augusta; and five grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Alfonso Alvin Jr., Harold Fuller, Issiah Trumpler Jr., Jermaine Fowler, Stanley Abraham and Laeey Gregory.

Friends may call at the residence, at 1606 15th St., or at the funeral home.

Mrs. Dorothy Hollenshead

ROCK HILL, S.C. -- Mrs. Dorothy ``Dot'' Hollenshead, 86, of 127 Murrah Drive, died Friday, June 5, 1998, at Magnolia Manor.

Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. today at Lincolnton City Cemetery, Lincolnton, Ga., with the Rev. Craig Williamson officiating.

Mrs. Hollenshead, a native of Lincoln County, had retired as a salesclerk. She was a member of Lincolnton Baptist Church.

Survivors include two nephews, William Weeks, Rock Hill, and John Clark Weeks, Clemson.

Pallbearers will be Murray Remsen, Hillyer Wright Sr., Billy Norman, Allen Walker, Andrew Smalley and Norman Talbert.

Friends may call at Rees Funeral Home, Lincolnton.

Mrs. Anne Lesueur

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. -- Mrs. Anne Sydenstricker Lesueur, 68, of 1176 Rose Arbor Court, died Saturday, June 6, 1998, at Martha Jefferson Hospital.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Monticello Memory Gardens, Charlottesville, Va., with Lem Howard officiating.

Mrs. Lesueur, a native of Baltimore, was a homemaker. She was a member of Precept Ministries and founded the New Testament Baptist Church.

Her family said her father was Dr. Virgil Sydenstryker of the Medical College of Georgia. Anne grew up in Augusta, loved spring flowers and will be remembered for her keen mind and artistic ability.

Survivors include two sons, Clifford H. Fox and Preston S. Fox.

Memorials may be made to Precept Ministries, P.O. Box 182218, Chattanooga, TN 37422.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday at Hill and Wood Funeral Home.

Mr. George McDaniel

GROVETOWN -- Mr. George Clayton McDaniel, 56, of 215 Berzelia Road, died Friday, June 5, 1998, at Columbia Augusta Medical Center.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Monday from Clifford Memorial Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Don Reeves officiating. Burial will be in Bellevue Memorial Gardens.

Mr. McDaniel, a native of Wrightsville, had retired from Lily Tulip and had worked for Don Swann Inc. as a salesman. He was a Navy veteran and a member of Clifford Memorial Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include his wife, Marie McDaniel; three sons, Michael McDaniel, Orlando, Fla., Burton McDaniel, Martinez, and Scott McDaniel, Evans; his mother and stepfather, Clarice Cooper and Carlos Cooper, Savannah; three sisters, Faye Edenfield and Glenda Haupt, both of Savannah, and Sue Glidewell, Milledgeville; and five grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Dale Ferguson, Charles Reville, Danny Allmond, Bruce Cliatt, Romie Tucker, Gene Neskorik, Jeff Dorn Sr. and Durwood Turner.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 9 p.m. today at Platt's Funeral Home, Belair Road.

Mr. Hanley Michelson

MARIETTA, Ga. -- Mr. Hanley ``Gene'' Michelson, 65, of 5276 Weatherwood Trail, died Friday, June 5, 1998, at Kennestone Hospital.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. today at Roswell Funeral Home, Roswell.

Mr. Michelson, a native of White Plains, N.Y., was a jazz musician, advertising executive, owner and former CEO of The Michelson Company advertising agency. He helped establish the television station WGPTV, and was a supporter of the Augusta Ballet. He was an Army veteran and a graduate of the University of Tennessee.

Survivors include his wife, Kay Michelson; a son, Mark Louis Michelson, Atlanta; and three daughters, Chelsea Jean Michelson and Jana Marie Michelson, both of Marietta, and Jeni Lynn Michelson, Atlanta.

Memorials may be made to a trust fund for Mr. Michelson's daughters in care of Wachovia Bank, 1929 Powers Ferry Road, Atlanta, GA 30339.

Friends may call at the funeral home.

Mr. Michael Mitro

Retired colonel

Mr. Michael P. Mitro, 78, of 338 Old Salem Way, Martinez, died Friday, June 5, 1998, at his residence.

The funeral will be at 12:15 p.m. Monday at the Church of the Most Holy Trinity with the Rev. Allan McDonald officiating. A memorial service will be on Wednesday, June 17, at Fort Myer Chapel, Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Va. Burial will be on Wednesday, June 17, in Arlington National Cemetery.

Mr. Mitro, a native of Lorain, Ohio, had retired from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers with the rank of colonel. He was a veteran of World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War, and he was a member of the Retired Officer's Club. He had retired from MARTA of Atlanta as director of program analysis. He was a member of the Church of the Most Holy Trinity.

Survivors include his wife, Helen P. Mitro; three daughters, Barbara Jean Funk, Gilroy, Calif., Judith Kay Anderson, Fairfax, Va., and Kathy Bellinski, Augusta; a brother, John Mitro, Lorain; two sisters, Helen Kokinda, Amherst, Ohio, and Mary Lou Lesiecki, Lorain; and three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be members of a military honor guard.

Memorials may be made to the Church of the Most Holy Trinity, 720 Telfair St., P.O. Box 2446, Augusta, GA 30903.

Friends may call at Poteet Funeral Home, Wheeler Road.

DAVISBORO, Ga. -- Mrs. Ouida Ivey Pate, 99, died Friday, June 5, 1998, at Washington Regional Medical Center, Sandersville.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today at Davisboro Cemetery with the Revs. Bob Williams and Jimmy Cason officiating.

Mrs. Pate, a native of Washington County, was a homemaker. She was a member of Davisboro United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday school for several years and was a member of the United Methodist Women.

Survivors include a daughter, Sara Jane Pate Pence, Metter; two sisters, Sara I. Northington, Davisboro, and Lucille I. Allen, New Smyrna Beach, Fla.; and four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Davisboro United Methodist Church.

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. -- Mrs. Josephine Williams Salter, 53, of 145 Crawford Road, died Thursday, June 4, 1998.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Marshall Grove Baptist Church, Sandersville, with the Rev. Elisah Johnson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Salter, a native of Washington County, had worked at Central State Hospital as a dietary worker for 30 years. She was a member of Marshall Grove Baptist Church.

Survivors include two sons, Antonio Larone James and Stacy Bernard James, both of Milledgeville; a daughter, Patricia A. Cullens, Milledgeville; three brothers, Quincy Williams Jr., Tommy Lee Williams and Danny Cooper, all of Sandersville; seven sisters, Patricia A. Simpson, Angela Betha and Sharon Betha, all of New Haven, Conn., Evelyn Braddy and Margaret Dixon, both of Sandersville, Sally Scott, Wrightsville, and Alberta Balkcom, Macon; and four grandchildren.

M.C. Smith Funeral Home, Sandersville, is in charge of arrangements.
