Mrs. Mildred Wilson

Graniteville Co. retiree

Announcement dated June 10, 1998

GRANITEVILLE -- Mrs. Mildred Knight Wilson, 72, of 86 West Ave., died Tuesday, June 9, 1998, at Aiken Regional Medical Centers.

The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at Napier Funeral Home with the Revs. Dennis Phillips and Tony Rhodes officiating. Burial will be in Vaucluse Cemetery, Vaucluse.

Mrs. Wilson, a native of Graniteville, was a member of Christian Heritage Congregational Holiness Church.

Survivors include her husband, Bobby T. Wilson; one son, Willie M. Green Jr., Roanoke, Va.; two daughters, Virginia G. Pritchett, North Augusta, and June G. Duffie, Warrenville; one brother, Olin T. Wood, Aiken; one sister, Evelyn Abney, Warrenville; and seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Tommy Pritchett Jr., Jeffrey Pritchett Sr., Willie M. Green III, Michael D. Green, Marty Reeves and DeWayne Wilson.

Friends may call at the residence of Virginia G. Pritchett, 218 Irene St., North Augusta.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Darvin Williams

Farmer

Announcement dated June 10, 1998

GARFIELD, Ga. -- Mr. Darvin D. Williams, 75, of 5384 Paynes Chapel Road, died Tuesday, June 9, 1998, at his residence.

The funeral will be at 4 p.m. Thursday at Paynes Chapel Methodist Church, Millen, with the Revs. D.R. Parker and Harold Sheppard officiating. Burial will be in Paynes Chapel Cemetery.

Mr. Williams, a native of Jenkins County, was a farmer and retired school bus driver with the Jenkins County Board of Education. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of Paynes Chapel Methodist Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Teresa W. Salter, Statesboro, and Marilyn Maclin, Godfrey, Ill.; two sisters, Geneva Williams and Lucille Newton, both of Portal; and five grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be John Lott, John Wendell Newton, Carl Williams, Keith Howard, Brad Salter, Brian Salter and Rafe Newton.

Friends may call until 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Crowe-Fields Funeral Home, Millen.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. J.B. Tollison

Clearwater Finishing Plant retiree

Announcement dated June 10, 1998

NORTH AUGUSTA -- Mr. J.B. Tollison, 86, of 583 Corley Road, died Monday, June 8, 1998, at his residence.

The funeral will be at 4 p.m. Thursday at Hatcher Funeral Home, Langley, with the Revs. Marty Roberts, Finley Sizemore and Olin Sizemore officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memory Gardens, Graniteville.

Mr. Tollison, a native of Greenville, had retired from Clearwater Finishing Plant as a foreman in the dye house. He was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church, Bath, where he was a deacon, Sunday school teacher, choir director and a member of the men's Bible class. He was a member of Gideon's International, Aiken York Rite, the Jamil Temple of Columbia and the board of directors of Mattie C. Hall Health Care Center, Aiken. He had served as master and member of Masonic Lodge 263 and Deputy Grand Master of the Sixth Masonic District.

Survivors include his wife, Bertha B. Tollison; three sons, B.R. Tollison, Belvedere, A.W. Tollison, Augusta, and Jerry Tollison, Clearwater; one daughter, Bobbie T. Hall, Clearwater; one brother, Guy Tollison, Union; one sister, Sarah Hammond, Laurens; and 15 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Mark Tollison, Russell Tollison, David Hall, Chris Hall, Rowland Stone and Josh Stone.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of Masonic Lodge 263.

Friends may call at the residence.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Robert Smith

Vitrified Brick and Clay retiree

HARLEM -- Mr. Robert William Smith, 76, of 721 Saw Dust Road, died Tuesday, June 9, 1998, at West Lake Nursing Home, Augusta.

The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at Antioch Baptist Church with the Rev. Ronald Young officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Augusta.

Mr. Smith, a native of McDuffie County, was retired from Vitrified Brick and Clay and was a member of Antioch Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Elsie Smith; two sons, Monte W. Smith, Harlem, and Douglas C. Smith, Columbia; one sister, Edna Stephens, Thomson; and three grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Ronnie Whitaker, Jessie G. Whitaker, David Young, Danny Whitaker, Terry Glasscock and Stanley Whitaker.

Memorials may be made to the St. Joseph Hospice, 2260 Wrightsboro Road, Augusta, GA 30904.

Mr. Donald Skidmore

Retired mill worker

THOMASTON, Ga. -- Mr. Donald K. Skidmore, 63, of 817 S. Green St., died Monday, June 8, 1998, at Macon Medical Center, Macon.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Robert Hoffman officiating. Burial will be in Crystal Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Skidmore, a native of Crab Orchard, Ky., was retired from Thomaston Mills as a weave room supervisor and had worked at Bibb Manufacturing, Columbus, and Greenwood Mill, Greenwood, S.C. He was a member of First Baptist Church, where he was a member of the choir, the Welcome Sunday School Class, and served as a deacon and young boys Sunday school class teacher.

The family said he entertained many as a magician.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia Dillashaw Skidmore; one son, Brant Skidmore, Cumming; one daughter, Kim Sawyer, Fortson; one brother, Terry Wade Skidmore, North Augusta; one sister, Phyllis Drummond, Columbia; and four grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Thomaston, Music/Instrument Fund, 208 S. Church St., Thomaston, GA 30286.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Coggins Funeral Home.

Mr. Ralph Pierce Sr.

Retired geologist

PICAYUNE, Miss. -- Mr. Ralph E. Pierce Sr., 70, died Monday, June 8, 1998, at his residence.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Westover Memorial Park, Augusta, with the Rev. Cynthia Taylor officiating.

Mr. Pierce, a native of Ideal, Ga., was a retired geologist with NAVO at Stennis Space Center.

Survivors include his wife, Eugenie Pierce; two sons, Henry Pierce and Ralph Pierce Jr., both of Picayune; one brother, Buddy Pierce, Butler, Ga.; one sister, Winnie Pierce Davis, Butler; and one grandchild.

Mr. David Miller

Mechanic

OLAR, S.C. -- Mr. David Lee Miller, 21, of 5344 Govan Highway, died Monday, June 8, 1998, in Columbia.

The funeral will be at 5 p.m. Thursday at Georges Creek Baptist Church with the Revs. Johnny Nixon, Ted Still and Byron Edens officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mr. Miller, a native of Barnwell County, was a mechanic.

Survivors include his father, Charles Robert Miller, Amsterdam, Ohio; his mother, Shelby Knopf Miller, Olar; three brothers, Joseph ``Randy'' Miller, Charles Brian Miller and James Oliver Miller, all of Olar; one sister, Cynthia M. Vance, Barnwell; and his maternal grandmother, Elizabeth P. Knopf, Olar.

Pallbearers will be Chris Fail, Mike Hutto, Marion Stanley, Kelly Still, Irvin Fail, Ted Padgett, Harold Brant and Kenny Kearse.

Mr. Arlington Milford Sr.

The funeral will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Platt's Funeral Home, North Belair Road, with the Rev. Lee Robinson officiating. Burial will be in Evans Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mr. Milford, a native of Harlem, was a retired carpenter and a member of First Baptist Church, Carpenters Union Local 283 and a 50-year member of the Civilian Conservation Corps.

Survivors include his wife, E. Jennette Milford; one son, Arlington C. Milford Jr., Evans; two daughters, Dorothy Burton Davis, Martinez, and Janet Benton Childree, Atlanta; one brother, Homer Milford Sr., Martinez; two sisters, Gladys Coykendall, Carson, Calif., and Etheridge Partridge, Lincolnton, Ga.; and six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Joe Sleister, Dennis Sleister, Irvin Partridge, Homer Milford Jr., Roger Partridge and John H. Partridge.

SWAINSBORO, Ga. -- Mr. Maurice W. ``Bud'' Martin, 70, of 131 Magnolia Lane, died Tuesday, June 9, 1998, at Emanuel Medical Center.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Tomlinson Funeral Home with the Rev. Louis Pearce officiating.

Mr. Martin, a native of Duluth, Minn., was an Army veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Martin; one son, Dale Martin, Dallas; one daughter, Melanie Martin Dawson, Pascagoula, Miss.; and five grandchildren.
