WILLISTON, S.C. -- Mrs. Addie Wooley Bell, 86, of Willis Pond Road, died Wednesday, June 10, 1998, at Barnwell County Hospital.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Folk Funeral Home with the Revs. Floyd Dukes and Nathan Roland officiating. Burial will be in Williston Cemetery.

Mrs. Bell, a native of Bamberg County, was a homemaker and a member of Williston First Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Emory Eugene Bell.

Memorials may be made to Williston Cemetery Fund, P.O. Box 367, Williston, SC 29853.

The family will receive friends at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Mr. Willis Welch

Retired farmer

DAVISBORO, Ga. -- Mr. Willis Evans Welch, 86, of 52 Duck Roose Road, died Thursday, June 11, 1998, at Gibson Health and Rehabilitation Center.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at White Oak Methodist Church with the Rev. Dewey Henderson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mr. Welch, a native of Washington County, was a retired farmer and a member of White Oak Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret Inez Welch; two daughters, Billie W. Raley, Sandersville and Alace W. Hanby, Millersport, Ohio; one sister, Alma W. May, Sparta; and five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Richard Welch, Douglas Welch, Norman Welch, Mickey May, Tommy Cowart and Trippi Yarbrough.

Friends may call at the residence or at Sheppard Funeral Home, Gibson.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mrs. Agnes Tuttle

Retired Augusta Chronicle clerk

Mrs. Agnes L. Tuttle, 92, of 146 Griswold Drive, Martinez, died Wednesday, June 10, 1998, at her residence.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Platt's Funeral Home, Crawford Avenue, with the Rev. Larry Harmon officiating. Burial will be in Westover Memorial Park.

Mrs. Tuttle, a native of Geneva County, Ala., was a retired clerk with The Augusta Chronicle and was a member of West Acres Baptist Church. She had been a member of Second Baptist Church of Augusta, where she served as Sunday school teacher.

Survivors include one son, Lawson Tuttle, Martinez; and two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Charles L. Jackson, Wesley Jackson, Michael Westbrook, Jeffrey Chavous, James Alexander and Mitchell French.

Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 3783 Presidential Parkway, Suite 102, Atlanta, GA 30340.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Grover Tuten Sr.

Army retiree

Announcement dated June 12, 1998

Mr. Grover Fred Tuten Sr., 75, of 745 Metcalf St., died Thursday, June 11, 1998, at Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Platt's Funeral Home with Robert F. Land officiating. Burial will be in West View Cemetery.

Mr. Tuten, a native of Grays, S.C., was retired from the Army, where he was a veteran of World War II. He was a member of the American Legion and Disabled American Veterans.

Survivors include four sons, Grover Fred Tuten Jr., Thomas Alvin Tuten and Joseph Randolph Tuten, all of Augusta, and David Eugene Tuten, North Augusta; one daughter, Edna Mabli, Augusta; three brothers, Robbin Tuten, Jason ``Junior'' Tuten and Ronnie Tuten, all of Savannah; and six sisters, Reba White, Dorothy McRay and Mariam Usry, all of Savannah, Myrtle Walker, Ridgeland, Char'lene Gann, Allendale, and Doris Schafer, Idaho.

Pallbearers will be members of the military at Fort Gordon.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mrs. Cora Taylor

ALLENDALE, S.C. -- Mrs. Cora Lee Simmons Taylor, 79, of 38 Bing St., died Wednesday, June 10, 1998, at her residence.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Springfield Baptist Church, Allendale County, with the Rev. Perkins Farmer officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Taylor, a native of Allendale County, was a member of Springfield Baptist Church, where she served as church mother and the deaconess board and was a member of the senior choir.

Survivors include five sons, Nickie Taylor Jr., Calvin Taylor, William Taylor and Jake Taylor, all of Allendale, and Wyman Taylor, Savannah; five daughters, Jimmie Lee Williams, Bertha McMillian, Annie Mae Weaver and Cora Taylor, all of Allendale, and Julia Walker, Jersey City, N.J.; and 36 grandchildren, 49 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Cave Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. James Rountree

Medical College of Georgia retiree

Mr. James Edward Rountree, 79, of 1416 Florence St., died Monday, June 8, 1998, at Medical College of Georgia Hospital.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Beulah Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Sam Davis officiating. Burial will be in Fountain Spring Church Cemetery, Millen.

Mr. Rountree, a native of Jenkins County, was retired from the Medical College of Georgia as a groundskeeper and was a member of Beulah Grove Baptist Church and the Brotherhood Ministry, where he served as treasurer.

Survivors include his wife, Elma Rountree; four sons, James Rountree Jr., Standers Rountree, Stoney Rountree and Michael Rountree; six daughters, Doris Lawson, Geraldine Knight, Ever Jean Williams, Betty R. Doby, Cherry Rountree and Sheila R. Royster; and 36 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

Peoples Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Prescott, a native of Burke County, was a homemaker and a member of Givens Grove Baptist Church.

Survivors include two sons, Henry Prescott and Bunnie Prescott Sr., both of Girard; one daughter, Mary Ann Heath, Sardis; four brothers, Wallace Doe Sr., James W. Doe and Sammie Doe, all of Girard, and Ben Doe Jr., Augusta; one sister, Louise Robinson, Augusta; and eight grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Alvin Perkins, Calvin Perkins, Terry Cooper, Donald Washington, Jessie Fleming and Terrence Scott.

WARRENTON, Ga. -- Mr. Henry Guy O'Neal, 78, died Wednesday, June 10, 1998, at Providence Healthcare Center.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at McCommons Funeral Home, Greensboro. Burial will be in Greensboro City Cemetery.

Mr. O'Neal, a native of Greene County, had worked at Walter O'Neal's Sawmill and was a Methodist.

Survivors include one sister, Mamie O'Neal Massey, Greensboro.

Pallbearers will be Nelson Massey, Cecil Massey, Mark Higdon, Melvin Duvall, Louie Vandiver and Harold Chappell.

Mr. Clarence Hogan Jr.

Mr. Clarence Hogan Jr., 65, of 333 Village Square Drive, Evans, died Wednesday, June 10, 1998, at Columbia Augusta Medical Center.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Lake Park Baptist Church with the Revs. Earl Saxon and Robert Riley officiating. Burial will be in West View Cemetery.

Mr. Hogan, a native of Augusta, was a retired lieutenant with the Augusta-Richmond County Fire Department and was a member of Lake Park Baptist Church. He served in the Army.

The family said he was a loving husband, father and grandfather and that their loss is heaven's gain.

Survivors include his wife, Mildred Hogan; two daughters, Frances Lynn Hogan, Evans, and Mildred Elaine Hogan, Bedgood; one sister, Mary Clements, Augusta; and one grandchild.

Pallbearers will be Robby Coleman Sr., Donald Edwards, Ray Collier, Aaron Clements, Rick Bedolla and Thomas Mansfield.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Augusta-Richmond County Fire Department.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Elliott Sons Funeral Home, Columbia Road.

Mr. Brantley Handspike Sr.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at White Rock Baptist Church with the Rev. G.L. Avery officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mr. Handspike, a native of Wilkes County, was a farmer.

Survivors include his wife, Annie Handspike; one son, Brantley Handspike Jr.; one daughter, Annie Laura Bunton; and 14 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Davenport-McLendon Mortuary, Washington, is in charge of arrangements.
