AIKEN -- The Rev. Jessie T. Wiggins, 70, of 625 Shiloh Heights Road, died Wednesday, June 10, 1998, at his residence.

The funeral will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday at Bacon Chapel Fire Baptized Holiness Church, Johnston, with Bishop Nathaniel Jeremiah Roach officiating. Burial will be in Aiken Memorial Park.

Rev. Wiggins, a native of Saluda County, was a driver at the Savannah River Site. He was an ordained minister and the former pastor of Red Hill Fire Baptized Holiness Church, Wagener, Macedonia Fire Baptized Holiness Church, McCormick, Mount Sinai Fire Baptized Holiness Church, Ridge Spring, and Caldwell Chapel Fire Baptized Holiness Church, Augusta. He was a member of Bacon Chapel Fire Baptized Holiness Church.

Survivors include his wife, Bessie M. Wiggins; two daughters, Vera M. Walker, Johnston, and Mazie H. Wideman, Aiken; two sisters, Rosetta Barnes and Pauline Conner, both of Leesville; and nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be deacons of the church.

Friends may call at the residence or after 1 p.m. today at G.L. Brightharp and Sons Mortuary.

Mrs. Mattie Taylor

STATESBORO, Ga. -- Mrs. Mattie Perkins Taylor, 91, died Saturday, June 13, 1998, at Bulloch Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Joiner-Shepard Funeral Home. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Monday at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, Savannah.

Mrs. Taylor, a native of Statesboro, was a longtime Savannah resident. She was a homemaker and a member of Ardsley Park Baptist Church, Savannah.

Survivors include two sons, Ernest Taylor, Statesboro, and James Taylor, San Diego; and 11 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, 102 Dogwood Drive, Statesboro, GA 30458, or to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 2027, Statesboro, GA 30459.

The family will receive friends at 4 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Johnnie Ross

Former United Technologies Automotive employee

THOMSON -- Mr. Johnnie Lee Ross, 53, of 717 Old Washington Road, died Wednesday, June 10, 1998, at McDuffie County Hospital.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Whiteoak Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Delbert Nero officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mr. Ross, a native of Wilkes County, was a former employee of United Technologies Automotive of Thomson and of Johnson Chevrolet of Thomson. He was a member of Whiteoak Grove Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Lucy Moore Ross; two daughters, Angela Engram, Warrenton, and Carol Ross Benning, Thomson; a stepson, Carl McCord, Germany; two stepdaughters, Celeste Evette Dorsey and Lisa Ross, both of Thomson; four brothers, Jessie Lee Ross, Curtis Ross, Cary Ross Jr. and Gary Ross Sr., all of Thomson; seven sisters, Mary F. Winfrey, Susie M. Burnett, Rosie Heath, Maggie Jones, Mary Bell Ross, Amanda Rogers and Katie M. Cummings, all of Thomson; and eight grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be members of Avery Temple Lodge No. 38, Dearing.

Honorary pallbearers will be deacons and trustees of the church.

Friends may call at the residence.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at Crawford Mortuary, and in the church annex following the burial service.

STATESBORO, Ga. -- Mr. Bill Prosser, 83, died Saturday, June 13, 1998, at Pecan Manor Nursing Home.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Corinth-Leefield Cemetery, Brooklet, with the Rev. Bob Conley officiating.

Mr. Prosser, a native of Bulloch County, had retired as a carpenter. He was a Baptist.

Survivors include his wife, Christine McCorkle Prosser; and a brother, Aubrey Prosser, Statesboro.

Pallbearers will be Bret Allen, Robert Prosser, Pete Brannen, Tony Nevil, Mac Nevil and Wade Aldrich.

The family will receive friends at 5 p.m. today at Joiner-Shepard Funeral Home.

Mrs. Caroline Kaney Pecor, 65, of 1903 Meadow Lane, died Thursday, June 11, 1998, at her residence.

The funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church with the Rev. Sam Zebron officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Mrs. Pecor, a native of Langley, had lived in Augusta for 31 years. She was a homemaker and a Catholic.

Survivors include three sons, Dana S. Pecor and Robert E. Pecor Jr., both of Memphis, Tenn., and Patrick W. Pecor, Augusta; a daughter, Angela Pecor McKay, West Columbia, S.C.; a brother, John Henry Kaney, Statesboro, Ga.; a sister, Margie Cato, California; and 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, 2607 Lumpkin Road, Augusta, GA 30906.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Poteet Funeral Home, Peach Orchard Road, with a wake service at 6 p.m.

Mr. William Stevens Lanier Sr., 88, of 2212 Terrace Road, died Friday, June 12, 1998, at St. Joseph Hospital.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Westover Memorial Park with the Rev. G. Daniel McCall officiating.

Mr. Lanier, a native of Augusta, was a 1931 graduate of the Georgia Institute of Technology and a superintendent at Babcock-Wilcox. He was a member of the Kiwanis Club of Augusta. He was a member, elder and former Sunday school superintendent at Reid Memorial Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include a son, William Stevens Lanier Jr., Augusta; a brother, James Fargo Lanier, Atlanta; two sisters, Constance Lanier Swearingen, Columbus, Ga., and Frances Lanier Whaley, Jacksonville, Fla.; and two grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Reid Memorial Presbyterian Church Building Fund, 2261 Walton Way, Augusta, GA 30904.

Ms. Jeffcoat, a native of Orangeburg County, was a cook and waitress at Dean-o's, and she was a fire department volunteer and an emergency medical technician. She was a member of Rocky Grove Baptist Church.

Survivors include her parents, C.E. Jeffcoat and Marjorie Corbett Jeffcoat; and a brother, David Jeffcoat.

Pallbearers will be Dean Rawls, Don Rawls, Gerald Rawls, Jeffrey Jeffcoat, Donny Berry, Mike Corbett, Troy Corbett, Josh Corbett, Jay Corbett, Allen Corbett and Robert Corbett.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Hopkins Funeral Home, Washington, with the Rev. Alan Shields officiating. Burial will be in Washington-Wilkes Memorial Gardens, Washington.

Mr. Christofferson, a native of West Virginia, had lived in Rayle for eight years. He had managed warehouses for Kroger for 42 years, and he was a member of the CSRA Kennel Club.

Survivors include his wife, Clara Christofferson; four sons, Jack Christofferson, Stone Mountain, Steve Christofferson, Pennsylvania, Eric Christofferson, Rayle, and Karl Christofferson, Dacula; a brother, Ed Christofferson, Germantown, Tenn.; a sister, Nancy Tiburzio, Columbus, Ohio; and five grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
