Mrs. Ellen Thompson

HARLEM -- Mrs. Ellen D. Thompson, 78, of Highway 78, died Sunday, June 14, 1998, at McDuffie County Hospital, Thomson.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. today at Silver Run Baptist Church with the Revs. Al Gilliand and Ernest Sikes officiating. Burial will be in Harlem Memorial Cemetery.

Mrs. Thompson, a longtime Columbia County resident, was a member of Silver Run Baptist Church.

Survivors include three sons, Edward H. Whitaker, Altamonte Springs, Fla., Ervin S. Whitaker, Woodbridge, Va., and Edwin Wayne Whitaker, Thomson; six daughters, Van W. Inglett, Runy Whitaker and Vivian W. Mitchell, all of Augusta, Velma W. Sager-Mathias, West Virginia, Venessa W. McCorkle, Thomson, and Dillie W. Hollimon, Dearing; and 26 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Zack Mitchell, Phil McCorkle, Ron McCorkle, Matt Inglett, Dewayne Hollimon, Rodney Sager, Chris Hollimon and Steven Hollimon.

Friends may call at the residence of Kenneth Hollimon, Dearing.

Mr. James Reynolds

Mr. James Reynolds, 67, of 2429 Nordahl Drive, died Wednesday, June 10, 1998, at University Hospital.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Tremont Temple Baptist Church with the Rev. W.F. Bass officiating. Burial will be in Mount Olive Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Reynolds, a native of Jenkins County, was a member of Tremont Temple Baptist Church.

Survivors include a sister, Christine Hurst.

Mrs. Annie Reese

SPARTA, Ga. -- Mrs. Annie Gay Reese, 93, of 416 Reese St., died Thursday, June 11, 1998, at Vencor Hospital, Fulton County.

The funeral will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Macedonia Baptist Church with the Rev. Nathaniel Roberts officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Reese, a native of Hancock County, was a member of Warren Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church, Devereux.

Survivors include four sons, Alexander Reese Jr., Sparta, Johnny Otise Reese, Bronx, N.Y., Lonnie Rogers Reese, Hyattsville, Md., and James Lester Reese, Washington, D.C.; five daughters, Lena Reese Johnson, Sparta, Magnolia Reese Clayton, Decatur, Mattie Reese Williams, Pelham, N.Y., Annie Reese Carswell, Bowie, Md., and Ruby Reese Moone, Rockville, Md.; an adopted brother, Wilbert Tracy, Pittsburgh; and 34 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Mr. Hairl Price

WASHINGTON, Ga. -- Mr. Hairl Dean Price, 65, of 109 Sherwood Drive, died Saturday, June 13, 1998, at St. Joseph Hospital, Augusta.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Hopkins Funeral Home with the Rev. Thompson Holloman officiating.

Mr. Price, a native of Mount Pleasant, Texas, had lived in Washington for one year. He was a custodian and an Air Force and Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a Baptist.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Jane Conner Price; two sons, Steven Price, Texas, and Dean Price, Arizona; two daughters, Sharon Price, McDonough, and Renee Guyll, Fayetteville, Ark.; two brothers, Rex Price, Lake Jackson, Texas, and Bill Price, Texas; one sister; and four grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.

Mrs. Mary Phoenix

BLACKVILLE, S.C. -- Mrs. Mary Alice Phoenix died Saturday, June 13, 1998, at Aiken Regional Medical Centers.

The funeral will be at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday at Frost Branch Baptist Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Phoenix, a native of Barnwell County, was a homemaker and a member of Frost Branch Baptist Church.

Survivors include six sons, Tommie Phoenix and Jeff Phoenix, both of Blackville, Sammie Phoenix, Columbia, Robert Phoenix, East Orange, N.J., William Phoenix, Dale City, Va., and Albert Phoenix, Woodbridge, Va.; two daughters, Rozenia Rogers, Bronx, N.Y., and Martha P. Odom, Blackville; and 23 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

The funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, June 16, 1998, at 1 p.m. from Peoples Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. E.T. Martin officiating.

The funeral procession will assemble at the chapel at 12:45 p.m. The burial will be in the Runs Church Cemetery, Beech Island, S.C. Survivors include a sister, Mrs. Zelia Patterson, of Augusta, Ga.; one brother-in-law, Mr. Norman Patterson, of Augusta, Ga.; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.

ALLENDALE, S.C. -- Mr. Freddie Morell Sr., 74, of Route 1, died Friday, June 12, 1998, at University Hospital, Augusta.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. today at St. Mark Baptist Church, Allendale County, with the Rev. B.L. Campbell officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mr. Morell, a native of Allendale County, had retired from Bill's Exxon. He was a member of St. Mary Baptist Church.

Survivors include three sons, Earl Morell Sr., Lewis Morell Sr. and W.L. Morell, all of Allendale; two daughters, Bessie L. Youmans, Columbia, and Eve A. Brabham, Fairfax; a sister, Mary L. Glover, Allendale; and 33 grandchildren and 55 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Theodore McCain

HEPHZIBAH -- Mr. Theodore McCain, 89, of 3773 Farrington Drive, died Thursday, June 11, 1998, at Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Carey Hill Missionary Baptist Church, Clarks Hill, S.C., with the Rev. Clifford Williams officiating. Burial will be in Mount Olive Memorial Gardens, Augusta.

Mr. McCain, a native of Edgefield County, was a Navy veteran of World War II and a member of Carey Hill Missionary Baptist Church.

Survivors include four sons, Willie McCain and Donald McCain, both of Staten Island, N.Y., Theodore McCain Jr., Anderson, S.C., and Alonzo McCain, Utica, N.Y.; a daughter, Yolanda Bell, Hephzibah; five brothers, Jerry Merriweather and Joseph Merriweather, both of Augusta, John Merriweather, North Augusta, Lawrence Merriweather, Hidden Hollow, N.J., and Frank Merriweather, Bronx, N.Y.; four sisters, Bessie M. Robinson, Georgia B. Pugh, Mattie B. Screen and Estella Dixon, all of Augusta; and 13 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Lord, a native of New London, Conn., had retired from J.C. Penney. She was a Methodist.

Survivors include three sons, Richard B. Lord, Augusta, Joseph B. Lord Jr., Muskeegan, Mich., and David R. Lord, Harlem; a sister, Corrine Wassmer, Naples, Fla.; and 10 grandchildren.

Mrs. Lemmons, a native of Lydia, S.C., was a homemaker. She was a member of Hartsville Baptist Church, Hartsville, S.C., where she was a member of the Missionary Society.

Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. James E. Rachels, Augusta, Lillian A. Kassab, Orlando, Fla., and Bertha L. Burgamy, Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; three sisters, Jean Clarkson, Edith Chisenhall and Dorothy Berry, all of Columbia; and 11 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

WRENS, Ga. -- Mr. Henry Lee ``Arkansas'' James, 70, of 1574 Stapleton Highway, died Sunday, June 14, 1998, at Columbia Augusta Medical Center.

The funeral will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Freeman Funeral Home with the Rev. Perry Daniels officiating. Burial will be in Sugar Hill Cemetery.

Mr. James, a native of Augusta, Ark., was a heavy equipment operator.

Survivors include his wife, Viola Neal; five sons, Dock ``Dale'' James, Philadelphia, Clarence James, Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Willie Haynes, Detroit, Henry Lee James Jr., Little Rock, Ark., and Charles James, Los Angeles; two daughters, Dorothy James and Elizabeth Washington, both of Louisville; and 22 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
