Mr. Edward Daniels Sr.

Navy veteran

Announcement dated June 19, 1998

DUBLIN, Ga. -- Mr. Edward E. Daniels Sr., 53, of Highway 441 South, died Wednesday, June 17, 1998, at his residence.

The funeral will be at 3 p.m. today at the Johnson Funeral Home, Swainsboro, with the Rev. Randall Ray officiating. Burial will be in the Swainsboro City Cemetery.

Mr. Daniels, a native of Emanuel County, served in the Navy during the Vietnam War. He was a self-employed carpenter and a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church, Swainsboro.

Survivors include a son, Edward E. Daniels Jr., Macon; two daughters, Ada L. Daniels, Macon, and Christy L. Daniels, Dublin; three sisters, Annie Clyde McCoy, Swainsboro, Jewell McCoy and Helen McCoy, both of Vidalia; and six grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mrs. Mary Ruth Cummings

Retired nurse's aid

EDGEFIELD, S.C. -- Mrs. Mary Ruth Smith Cummings, 82, of 191 W.A. Reel Drive, died Thursday, June 18, 1998, at Edgefield County Health Care Center.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Bland Funeral Home Chapel, Johnston, with the Rev. Keith Polk officiating. Burial will be in the Harmony United Methodist Church cemetery.

Mrs. Cummings, a native of Johnston, was a retired nurse's aid with St. Vincent's Hospital, Jacksonville, Fla. She was a member of Harmony United Methodist Church.

Survivors include three sons; Frank D. Cummings, Johnston, Steven D. Cummings, Edgefield, and David L. Cummings, Bryceville, Fla., and three grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be A.B. Wilkerson Sr., Robert L. ``Buddy'' Smith, William G. ``Bill'' Smith III, Christopher L. Cummings, Matthew F. Smith and Robert D. Smith.

Friends may call at the residence of Frances Smith, 7 Rieget Road, Johnston.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Frank Collins

Retired education specialist

Mr. Frank T. Collins, 85, of 2163 Mura Drive, died Thursday, June 18, 1998, at St. Joseph Hospital.

The funeral will be at 4 p.m Saturday at Gum Log Baptist Church, Kite, with the Revs. Lamar Kersey, Glen Taylor and Burton Dixon officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mr. Collins, a native of Marion County, Tenn., was retired from the civil service with Fort Gordon as an education specialist. He was a Marine Corps veteran of World War II and a member of Williams Chapel Baptist Church, Kite, where he served as deacon.

Survivors include his wife, Stella Mildred Dixon Collins; and two brothers, John Collins, Whitwell, Tenn., and Charles Collins, Bridgeport, Conn.

Pallbearers will be his nephews.

Friends may call at the residence.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Poteet Funeral Home, Peach Orchard Road.

Mr. Fred Broome

Civil service retiree

Announcement dated June 19, 1998

Mr. Fred Ernest Broome, 81, died Wednesday, June 17, 1998, at St. Joseph Hospital.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Hillcrest Memorial Park with the Rev. Rich Edwards officiating.

Mr. Broome, a native of Carroll County, was retired from the civil service with Fort Gordon where he served as chief of the Mechanical Branch, Engineering Department. He was an Army veteran of World War II, where he was a recipient of the Purple Heart, and was a member of American Legion Post 205. He was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church and Social Lodge 1 of the Free and Accepted Masons.

Survivors include three sons, Frederick Roland Broome, Marlboro, Md., Charles E. Broome, Augusta, and Paul Wesley Broome, Martinez; and eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Westminster Presbyterian Church Building Fund, 4303 Wheeler Road, Martinez, GA 30907; or the Masonic Childrens Home, Macon, GA 31204.

Friends may call at Poteet Funeral Home, Peach Orchard Road.

Mr. Henry Brooker Jr.

COLUMBIA -- Mr. Henry Brooker Jr., 59, of 812 Boundary Apartments, died Tuesday, June 16, 1998, at Palmetto Richland Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Happy Home Baptist Church, Allendale, with the Rev. Ronald West officiating. Burial will be in Nazarene Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mr. Brooker, a native of Allendale County, was retired from Allendale County Schools and was a member of Happy Home Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Catherine Priester Brooker, Fairfax; his mother, Odessa Tilley Brooker, Allendale; two sons, Henry Allen Brooker, New Haven, Conn., and Craig Hobby, Indianapolis, Ind.; one daughter, Regina Barnes, New Haven; three sisters, Sallie R. Brooker, New Haven, Georgia Sturgis, Thompson, and Juanese Brooker, Hamden, Conn.; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Branch, a native of Jenkins County, was a homemaker.

Mrs. All, a native of Augusta, was a retired employee of Shuron Optical Co.

WARRENVILLE - Mrs. Alice Burns Mock, 87, of Burns Hill, died Thursday, June 18, 1998, at St. Joseph Hospital.

The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Hatcher Funeral Home, Langley, with the Revs. Ken Klingler and Ronald Hasty officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memory Gardens, Graniteville.

Mrs. Mock, a native of Camden, was a homemaker. She was a member of Howlandville Baptist Church, where she was a former Sunday school teacher and a member of the Women's Missionary Union. She received the 1987, Aiken Community Service Award for her service with the Meals on Wheels program. She also took part in the dedication of the Aiken County Judicial Center.

Survivors include two sons, James Embree Mock Jr., North Augusta, John Coye Mock, Warrenville; three daughters, Juan Strong, Charlotte, N.C., Jo Nell Roberts, Statesboro, Ga. and Joy Parry, Jackson; two sisters, Louise Ott, Harlem, Eunice Usher, Brooklet, Ga.; one brother, T.J. Burns, Warrenville; and 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be John Strong, James Williams, Stephen Blaney, Jeffrey Roberts, Christopher Mock and Jeffrey Parry.

AIKEN -- Mr. Willie Nix, 84, of 338 Union St., died Wednesday, June 17, 1998, at Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Augusta.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Cheatham Funeral Home, Langley, with the Rev. Joseph Harrison officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hill Baptist Church cemetery, Montmorenci.

Mr. Nix, a native of Edgefield, had served in the Army during World War II.

Survivors include one niece, Lizzie Williams, Aiken.

Walton, a native of Wilkes County, attended A. E. Hillsman Middle School.
