Mr. Lee Anderson

Announcement dated June 21, 1998

FERNANDINA BEACH, Fla. -- Mr. Lee Roy Anderson, 85, died Saturday, June 13, 1998, at Quality Health of Fernandina Beach.

Graveside services were at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 18, at Rosque-Bello Cemetery with the Rev. George D. Young III officiating.

Mr. Anderson, a native of Jefferson County, Ga., had lived in Fernandina Beach since 1949. He had retired from ITT Rayonier Paper Mill as a screen room tender. He was a member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church.

Survivors include a son, Lee R. Anderson Jr., Montgomery, Ala.; a daughter, Eva Boles, Fernandina Beach; three brothers, Lester Anderson, Tucker, Ga., Herbert Anderson, Wrens, Ga., and Gartrell Anderson, Smyrna, Ga.; three sisters, Margaret Kitchens, Harlem, Nell Holley, Wrens, and Inez Griswold, Augusta; and five grandchildren.

James and Lowe Funeral Home, Wrens, was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Rhett Jones

Retired salesman

Announcement dated June 21, 1998

EDGEFIELD, S.C. -- Mr. Rhett Anthony Jones, 48, of 402 Church St., died Friday, June 19, 1998, at University Hospital.

The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Monday at Hatcher Funeral Home, Langley, with the Revs. Louis Swanson and Ken Garvin officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memory Gardens, Graniteville.

Mr. Jones, a native of Augusta, had lived in Bath most of his life. He had retired as a salesman and was a member and former commander of Brigadier General M.W. Gary Camp No. 1532 of the S.C.V. He was a member of Clearwater First Baptist Church, Clearwater.

Survivors include his wife, Brenda L. Jones; two stepsons, Anthony Corley, Martinez, and Michael Corley, North Augusta; a brother, W.H. ``Bill'' Jones Jr., North Augusta; a sister, Diane J. Boone, North Augusta; and one grandchild.

Pallbearers will be Eric Baker, Alan Golden, Bill Sharpe, Kevin Ward, James W. Gilchrist and Phillip Pridgen.

Friends may call at the residence.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. James Hogan Sr.

Announcement dated June 21, 1998

AIKEN -- Mr. James Leroy Hogan Sr., 79, of 330 Pine Drive N.W., died Friday, June 19, 1998, at Mattie C. Hall Health Care Center.

Funeral services will be private.

Mr. Hogan, a native of Great Falls, had lived in Aiken since 1975.

Survivors include three sons, James L. Hogan Jr., Smithfield, Va., Benjamin A. Hogan, Newport News, Va., and Randall A. Hogan, Gloucester, Va.; two daughters, Joyce Hogan Herzog and Patricia Hogan Yates, both of Aiken; and 12 grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Mattie C. Hall Health Care Center Recreation Fund, 831 Laurens St.

Shellhouse Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Robert LaSure

Mr. Robert Edward ``Eddie'' LaSure, 91, died Friday, June 19, 1998, at Medical College of Georgia Hospital.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at West View Cemetery with the Rev. Rudolph Dixon officiating.

Mr. LaSure, a native of Augusta, was a Protestant.

Survivors include a son, Daniel Warren LaSure Sr., Augusta; a daughter, Sara Ann Larsen, The Dalles, Ore.; and four grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 3185 Wheeler Road, Augusta, GA 30909.

Friends may call at the residence of Daniel W. LaSure Sr., 1033 River Ridge Drive.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the residence of Daniel W. LaSure Sr.

Mr. Harold McGahee

Retired restaurant manager

DUNEDIN, Fla. -- Mr. Harold McGahee, 82, of 101 Broadway, died Thursday, June 18, 1998, at his residence.

A memorial service will be at 4 p.m. Monday at Curtis Funeral Home, Thomson, with the Rev. James C. Elder Jr. officiating.

Mr. McGahee, a native of McDuffie County, Ga., had lived in Dunedin since 1980. He had retired from Holiday Inn as a restaurant manager. He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Laraine McGahee; six sons, Ronald McGahee, Charleston, S.C., Lynn McGahee, Snellville, Ga., Mack McGahee, Athens, Ga., Andy McGahee, Dayton, Ohio, Keith McGahee, Byron, Ga., and Randy McGahee, Covington, Ga.; two daughters, Joane McGahee, Snellville, and Wendy Kimball, Dunedin; five brothers, Joe McGahee and Gene McGahee, both of Columbus, Ga., Henry McGahee, Tampa, Rubin McGahee, Jacksonville, and Bobby McGahee, Thomson; two sisters, Susie Perdue and Edna Jones, both of Thomson; and 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Jennie Odum

Retired bookkeeper

SWAINSBORO, Ga. -- Mrs. Jennie Mae Kirkus Odum, 77, died Friday, June 19, 1998, at Memorial Medical Center, Savannah.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Canoochee Baptist Church with the Rev. Lamar Samples officiating. Burial will be at 3 p.m. in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, Savannah.

Mrs. Odum, a native of Charleston, S.C., had retired from Sears and Roebuck Co. as a bookkeeper after 25 years of service. She was a member of Woodmen of the World and Canoochee Baptist Church.

Survivors include a stepdaughter, Hazel Hines, Castleberry, Fla.; and five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Pallbearers will be David Silas, Dewitt Norby, Hiram Norby, Billy Walden, Wilbur Stephens and Charles Johnson.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Joy Group of Canoochee Baptist Church.

Memorials may be made to Canoochee Baptist Church.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Peebles-Curry-Durden Mortuary.

Mr. Robert Anthony ``Tony'' Powell, 44, of 7045 Amarillo Circle, died Friday, June 19, 1998, at his residence.

The funeral will be at 4 p.m. Monday at Napier Funeral Home, Graniteville, with the Rev. Randall Whitaker officiating. Burial will be in Graniteville Cemetery, Graniteville.

Mr. Powell, a native of Augusta, was an electrician and a member of Local No. 7076 International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. He was a member of Pineview Baptist Church, Martinez.

Survivors include a son, Robert Anthony ``Andy'' Powell II, Lincolnton; a daughter, Michelle Powell Lynn, Martinez; his parents, Robert F. ``Bobby'' Powell and Hilda Reece Powell, Augusta; a brother, Greg Powell, Augusta; a sister, Angela Powell Reasoner, Harlem; and one grandchild.

Pallbearers will be Tommy Nelson, Wesley Chance, Reno Reasoner, Gene Holton, Keith Ford and Bruce Powell.

Friends may call at the residence of his parents, 547 Bohler Ave.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mrs. Zenobia Sease

AIKEN -- Mrs. Zenobia Sease, 84, of 351 Florence St. N.W., died Monday, June 15, 1998, at Aiken Regional Medical Centers.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Second Baptist Church with the Rev. Douglas Slaughter officiating. Burial will be in Jessamine Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Sease, a native of Barnwell, was a member of Second Baptist Church.

Friends may call after noon today at Jackson-Brooks Funeral Home, or after noon Monday at the church.

Mr. Robert Smoak Sr.

Military retiree

AIKEN -- Mr. Robert Adams Smoak Sr., 77, of 336 York St. S.E., died Saturday, June 20, 1998, at his residence.

Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Beaufort National Cemetery, Beaufort.

Mr. Smoak, a native of Bamberg, had lived in Aiken since 1971. He was an Army veteran of World War II and had retired from service with the rank of colonel. He was a member of the Retired Officers Association. He was a member of the Aiken Historical Society and the Aiken Historic Foundation. He was a Presbyterian.

Survivors include his wife, Margery Toole Smoak; two sons, Robert A. Smoak Jr., Aiken, and Frank A. Smoak, Columbia; a daughter, Pamela Baatz, Charleston; two brothers, J.J. Smoak Jr. and W.W. Smoak, both of Bamberg; a sister, Caroline Smoak Kearse, Bamberg; and four grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be members of a military honor guard.

Memorials may be made to the Citadel Development Foundation, The Citadel, Charleston, SC 29409.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Shellhouse Funeral Home.

Mr. Timothy Tobin Sr.

Retired security guard

SALLEY -- Mr. Timothy Tobin Sr., 74, of 278 Green Acres Road, died Thursday, June 18, 1998, at Aiken Regional Medical Centers.

The funeral will be at 5 p.m. Tuesday at Oakey Spring Baptist Church, Springfield, with the Rev. Willie Wilson III officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mr. Tobin, a native of Salley, had retired from Wagener Manufacturing Co. as a security guard after 25 years of service, and was a former farmer. He was a member and deacon of Oakey Spring Baptist Church.

Survivors include six sons, Timothy Tobin Jr. and Benjamin Tobin, both of Salley, Morris Anderson, Jamaica, N.Y., McLean Tobin, Orangeburg, Milledge Tobin, Aiken, and L. Belton Tobin, Blackville; a daughter, Alice T. Bush, Aiken; a brother, Rivers Tobin, Columbia; a sister, Adrienne T. Livingston, Miami; and 14 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be sons.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the deacon board of the church.

Friends may call at the residence.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at J.H. Robinson's Funeral Home, Wagener.
