Mr. Lenon Hampton, of 1365 Laney Walker Blvd., died Friday, June 19, 1998, at Blair House Nursing Home.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Williams Funeral Home. Burial will be in Walker Memorial Park.

Mr. Hampton, a native of McDuffie County, had retired from Bethlehem Steel Co., Brooklyn, N.Y., as a welder.

Survivors include his wife, Zady Hampton; a stepdaughter, Eliza Kirkland, Augusta; a sister, Ethel Oliver, Augusta; and two step-grandchildren.

Friends may call at the residence or at Williams Funeral Home.

Mr. Harvey Crawford

STAPLETON, Ga. -- Mr. Harvey L. Crawford, 65, of 4802 Highway 80, died Saturday, June 20, 1998, at McDuffie County Hospital.

The funeral will be at 3 p.m. today at Reedy Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Jon Richard officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mr. Crawford, a native of Columbia County, had retired as an engineer. He was a Navy veteran of the Korean War and a member of American Legion Post 229. He was a member of Reedy Creek Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Floy H. Crawford; three daughters, Jane Prescott, Wrens, Nancy Norman, Augusta, and Diane Smith, Louisville; a brother, Aubrey Crawford, Harlem; two sisters, Faye Sellars, Appling, and Cindy Brown, Warrenton; and four grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Henry Jones, Jim Gay, Randy Crawford, Mark Crawford, Sean Sellars and Dean Crawford.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of American Legion Post 229.

Memorials may be made to Reedy Creek Baptist Church Building Fund, c/o Jacqueline Peeble, 2738 Highway 80 W., Wrens, GA 30833.

Mr. John Clifton

WILLISTON, S.C. -- Mr. John William Clifton, 74, of Redbone Court, died Saturday, June 20, 1998, at Aiken Regional Medical Centers.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Folk Funeral Home with the Rev. Ernest Webb officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Barnwell.

Mr. Clifton, a native of Indianapolis, was a machinist for Eastern Motorcycle Parks, Blackville. He was a Navy veteran of World War II where he served as a submarinist and received the Purple Heart. He was a Baptist.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth Miriam Taylor Clifton; a son, Richard Allen Clifton, Williston; a daughter, Rebecca Ann Maltby, Williston; his mother, Velma Cure Clifton, Ballard, Ind.; three sisters, Mary Shrake, Edna Palmer and Ruth Aranjo, all of Indianapolis; and three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

NORTH AUGUSTA -- Mr. Lawton Southwell Boykin, 68, of 102 Adams Branch Road, died Sunday, June 21, 1998.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. today at First Baptist Church of North Augusta with the Rev. Gary Redding officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Augusta.

Mr. Boykin, a native of Dover, Ga., had retired as a men's clothing salesman. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War and a member of First Baptist Church of North Augusta.

His family said he was devoted to his family, friends and grandchildren. He enjoyed landscaping and fishing.

Survivors include his wife, Mildred Cato Boykin; a son, William Southwell Boykin, Danville, Calif.; a daughter, Jane Boykin ElLaissi, Evans; two brothers, Tommy W. Boykin, Lincolnton, and Don M. Boykin, North Augusta; and four grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Charles Petty, Jack McCoy, Jimmy Saul, Marty Boykin, Jay Gordon and Mike Boykin.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Timothy Bible Class and the Sheffield Club of First Baptist Church of North Augusta.

Mr. Louis William Barnes, 70, of 1834 Phinizy Road, died Friday, June 19, 1998, at Fort Sanders Hospital, Sevierville, Tenn.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. today at Elliott Sons Funeral Home, Lumpkin Road, with the Revs. Bobby Renew and Keith Gilliam officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Mr. Barnes, a native of Augusta, had retired from L.B. Barnes Construction Co. as a contractor. He was a Merchant Marines veteran of World War II and a member of Flowing Wells Congregational Holiness Church.

Survivors include his wife, Carolyn L. Barnes; two sons, Louis W. Barnes II, Albert Lea, Minn., and Billy Braswell, Lincolnton; four daughters, Gail Salters, Eufaula, Ala., Michelle Adams, Grovetown, Bonnie Barnes, Hephzibah, and Teresa Meadows, Evans; two sisters, Mary Holloway, Augusta, and Martha Creswell, Atlanta; and 16 grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Paul Holloway, Chuck Creswell, Randy Hollar, Greg Creswell, Rodney Hollar and Pat Sowell.

Mr. Hall, a native of Wagener, had retired as a carpenter, and he was a member of Carpenter's Local Union 283. He was a Navy veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Mattie M. Hall; three sons, Charles Thomas Hall and Harvey Eugene Hall, both of Augusta, and Robert Thurston Hall, Martinez; two daughters, Debra Ann Hall and Mattie D. Hall, both of Augusta; his stepmother, Novella Bailey, Salley; two brothers, Leroy Hall and Lewis Hall, both of Martinez; two sisters, Louree Shuman, Martinez, and Hattie Copeland, Augusta; two stepsisters, Betty Jean Fox and Annie Lou Hall, both of Salley; and 18 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Platt's Funeral Home, Crawford Avenue.

Mr. James Hamilton

Mr. James William Hamilton, 69, of 702 Coolbrook Court, Martinez, died Monday, June 22, 1998, at his residence.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church, Martinez, with the Rev. Tom Peyton officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Mr. Hamilton, a native of Edgefield County, had retired from the Medical College of Georgia as a radiology technologist and from Fort Gordon as an X-ray technician. He was a member of the American Registry of Radiological Technologists, the Augusta Society of Radiological Technologists, the Georgia Society of Radiological Technologists and the American Society of Radiological Technologists.

He was a member of Third Degree Knights of Columbus 8495 Cook Council. He was a Navy and Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church.

Survivors include his wife, Frances Matheny Hamilton; a son, Michael J. Hamilton, Evans; three daughters, Dotty Edmondson and Terry Beardsley, both of Augusta, and Judy Harden, Thomasville, Ga.; a brother, Joseph C. Hamilton, Martinez; and 11 grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Harold Pitchford, Tim Whitfield, Frank Whitfield, Richard Ray, Michael Ray, Jack Sheahan, Denny Palmer, Johnnie Lee, Bob Miller and Jimmy Pace.

Memorials may be made to Catholic Social Services, 1419 Arsenal Ave., Augusta, GA 30904.

Mr. Hardeman, a native of Wilkes County, was a construction worker and a member of Clifford Grove Baptist Church.
