STATESBORO, Ga. -- Mr. William ``Bill'' Mobley Hill, 65, of 209 Surrey Lane, died Sunday, June 21, 1998, at Bulloch Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Statesboro First United Methodist Church with the Revs. Taylor Gallman and Don Adams officiating. Burial will be in Eastside Cemetery.

Mr. Hill, a native of Rock Hill, S.C., was chief estimator at Dawson Construction. He was an Air Force veteran and a member of Alabama City Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Libby Hill; two sons, Mobley Hill, Atlanta, and Steven Hill, Los Angeles; a daughter, Sally Bacon, Statesboro; a brother, James J. Hill, Savannah; a sister, Marion Rosson, Marietta; and six grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 2027, Statesboro, GA 30459.

The family will receive friends from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Hodges-Turner Funeral Home.

Mrs. Ethel Humphrey

LANGLEY -- Mrs. Ethel Williams Humphrey, 88, of Jackson Street, died Sunday, June 21, 1998, at Beverly Health and Rehabilitation Center, Aiken.

The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Hatcher Funeral Home with the Rev. Frank Barker officiating. Burial will be in Langley Cemetery.

Mrs. Humphrey, a native of Branchville, had lived in Langley most of her life. She was a homemaker and a member of Langley First Baptist Church where she was a member of the Women's Missionary Union and the Sunday school.

Survivors include three daughters, Ruth Peters, Martinez, Doris Parrish, Langley, and Nadine Sumner, Augusta; and six grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be L.C. Jones, Bob Krepps, Ronnie Smolowsky, Wyman Dicks, Clifton Williamson and Jim Ivey.

Friends may call at the residence of Doris Parrish, 8 Jackson St.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Rule Hunter

SYLVANIA, Ga. -- Mr. Rule ``Boy'' Hunter, 74, of 317 Arnett St., died Sunday, June 21, 1998, at Liberty Regional Hospital, Hinesville.

The funeral will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Goloid United Methodist Church with the Rev. E.C. Simmons officiating. Burial will be in Friendship Memorial Park.

Mr. Hunter, a native of Screven County, had worked at the Savannah River Site. He was a member and lay leader at Goloid United Methodist Church where he served on the trustee board and the pastor's committee.

Survivors include two sons, Charles Hunter, Brooklyn, N.Y., and John E. Hunter, Sylvania; three daughters, Christine McIver, Riceboro, Louise Hill, New Rochelle, N.Y., and Docie Foy, Brooklyn, N.Y.; three brothers, Edward Hunter, Sylvania, Cecil Hunter, Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Stanley Hunter, Augusta; a sister, Queen Albright, Sylvania; a stepsister, Lola Williams, Augusta; and five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Sylvania Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Willie Johnson

Sawmill worker

EDGEFIELD, S.C. -- Mr. Willie Johnson, 64, of 428 Mims St., died Saturday, June 20, 1998, at Edgefield County Hospital.

The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Jeter Baptist Church with the Rev. James Thomas officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mr. Johnson, a native of Edgefield County, was a sawmill worker for B & L Sawmill in Edgefield. He was a member of Jeter Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Rosetta Strom Johnson; a son, Willie Johnson Jr.; and a sister, Mattie Mae Johnson.

Friends may call at the residence or at Amos and Sons Funeral Home, Johnston.

Mrs. Mattie Jones

Mrs. Mattie Jones, of 1659 Old Savannah Road, died Friday, June 19, 1998, at Blair House Nursing Home.

The funeral will be at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at True Vine Baptist Church with the Rev. Frederick Patterson officiating. Burial will be in Mount Olive Memorial Garden.

Mrs. Jones, a native of Burke County, was a homemaker and a member of True Vine Baptist Church.

Survivors include a son, Melvin Jones, Augusta; and one grandchild.

Mr. Silas Lord

SANDERSVILLE, Ga. -- Mr. Silas ``Red'' Lord, 72, died Monday, June 22, 1998, at Washington Regional Medical Center.

The family will receive friends at 2 p.m. today at First Church of the Nazarene with the Revs. J. Emory Lindsey and Jimmy Cason officiating. Burial will be in Brownwood Cemetery.

Mr. Lord, a native of Washington County, had retired from Howard Sheppard Inc. as a truck driver. He was a member of First Church of the Nazarene where he was a member of the Christian Workers Sunday School Class.

Survivors include two sons, Silas Lee Lord, Sandersville, and Robert Carroll Lord, Augusta; a stepson, Eddie Waller, Jacksonville, N.C.; three stepdaughters, Annette Larimore Sauerhoefer and Glenda Sauerhoefer, both of Sandersville, and Jackie White, Statesboro; a brother, Paul Lord, Sandersville; and 13 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Gerald Lord, Bill Jackson, Charles Hattaway, Bill Brantley, Cliff Sheppard and Albert Fields.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Christian Workers Sunday School Class.

Lang's Chapel Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Edna Mayweather

SPARTA, Ga. -- Mrs. Edna Ruff Mayweather, 92, of 110 Broad St., died Thursday, June 18, 1998, at Hancock Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Springfield Baptist Church with the Revs. Felton Poole and Omer Reid officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Mayweather, a native of Hancock County, was a homemaker and a member of Springfield Baptist Church where she served as mother of the church.

Survivors include a stepson, Charles A. Johnson, Anaheim, Calif.; two brothers, Malvin Ruff, New York, and Horace Ruff, Sparta; two sisters, Inez Holston, Macon, and Annie L. Campbell, Sparta; and two grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Philip Campbell Sr., Joseph Hester Jr., Raymond McGhee Jr., Stephen McGhee III and Lucius Skrine.

Dr. Leo Pou Jr.

RIVERDALE, Ga. -- Dr. Leo H. Pou Jr., 72, of 8397 Carlton Road, died Sunday, June 21, 1998.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Walker Family Cemetery, Augusta, with the Rev. Tony Lee officiating.

Dr. Pou, a native of Jasper, Ala., was a graduate of Boys High School and the Medical College of Georgia, and he was a member of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity. He trained as an anesthesiologist at University Hospital and practiced in Shreveport, La., and at South Fulton Hospital, Atlanta. He taught in the residency program at Emory University. He was a member of the American Medical Society and the Southern Medical Association. He was a Navy veteran of the Korean War and an Episcopalian.

Survivors include his wife, Harriett Wofford Pou; a son, Leo ``Skip'' Pou III, Athens; three daughters, Margaret Fowler, Austin, Texas, Carol Johnson, Lawrenceville, and Michele Lewis, Columbus; a sister, Betty Jane Reeves, Wilmington, Del.; and six grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Poteet Funeral Home, Greene Street, Augusta.

Mrs. Betty Powell

Mrs. Betty H. Powell, 61, of 1814 Fairview Ave., died Sunday, June 21, 1998.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at West View Cemetery with the Rev. Kelly McKnight officiating.

Mrs. Powell, a native of Augusta, was a homemaker and a member of Bible Deliverance Temple.

Mrs. Leeveeter Rankin

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Edgefield Mercantile Funeral Home, Edgefield, with the Rev. Paul Volpito officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Gardens Memorial Park, Edgefield.

Mrs. Rankin, a native of Saluda, had retired as a textile worker. She was a Baptist.

SALUDA, S.C. -- Mrs. Vera Webb Shriner, 99, of 305 A.N. Rudolph St., died Saturday, June 20, 1998, at Nation Health Care, West Columbia.

The funeral will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Ramey Funeral Home. Burial will be in Travis Park Cemetery.

Mrs. Shriner, a native of Newberry County, had retired as a teacher. She was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church.

Survivors include a sister, Kate Clary, Atlanta; and two grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to St. Paul United Methodist Church, 102 Butler Ave., Saluda, SC 29138.
