Mrs. Helen Nixon

Mrs. Helen M. Nixon, 73, died Friday, June 26, 1998, at her residence.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Poteet Funeral Home, Greene Street, with the Rev. Allan J. McDonald officiating. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery.

Mrs. Nixon, a native of Augusta, was a homemaker and a member of The Church of the Most Holy Trinity.

Survivors include two sons, John W. Nixon Jr. and James F. Nixon, both of Augusta; a daughter, Becky Nixon Davis, Augusta; a brother, Jack Mulligan, Augusta; and seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Pallbearers will be Phin Davis, Jacob Davis, John W. ``Tripp'' Nixon III, Matt Nixon, Bobby Timmerman and Jim Nixon.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Mr. Arthur Lee

HARRISON, Ga. -- Mr. Arthur Lee, 59, of 1330 Tennille-Harrison Road, died Wednesday, June 24, 1998, at his residence.

The funeral will be at 3 p.m. today at Scott Chapel Baptist Church, Pringle, with the Rev. Johnny Morgan officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mr. Lee, a native of Washington County, was a farmer and a member of Scott Chapel Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Virginia Lee; two sons, T. Arthur Lee Jr. and Ray Lee, both of Harrison; three daughters, Reba Lee and Josephine Lee, both of Harrison, Bernetha Lee, Pringle; his mother, Josephine Whitfield Lee, Trenton, N.J.; two brothers, Willie Lester Lee, Florida, and Ellis Lee, Trenton; and nine grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be his nephews.

M.C. Smith Funeral Home, Sandersville, is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Gladys Langley

Retired legal secretary

EDGEFIELD, S.C. -- Mrs. Gladys Eubanks Langley, 86, of 1 W.A. Reel Drive, died Friday, June 26, 1998, at Edgefield Health Care Center.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Berea Baptist Church with the Revs. Wade Burton and Lowell Clark officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Langley, a native of Edgefield County, had retired as a legal secretary and was a member of Berea Baptist Church.

Survivors include three sons, E.L. Langley, Alvin Langley and Wayne Langley, all of Edgefield; three daughters, Lunette Williams, Edgefield, Florene Corley Woods, Laurens, and Linda Raines, Johnston; and 23 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons.

Memorials may be made to Berea Cemetery Fund.

Friends may call at Edgefield Mercantile Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Holley Heyward Sr.

Heavy equipment superintendent

WAGENER -- Mr. Holley Heyward Sr., 84, of 22246 Old Ninety Six Indian Trail, died Friday, June 26, 1998, at his residence.

The funeral will be at 4 p.m. Sunday at New Holland Baptist Church with the Revs. Owen McAlister and Jimmy Johnson officiating. Burial will be in New Holland Cemetery.

Mr. Heyward, a native of Aiken, was a heavy equipment superintendent. He was a member of Cedar Masonic Lodge No. 184, and Merritts Bridge Christian Church. He was a Scottish Rite Mason and a Shriner, Valley of Columbia, Orient.

Survivors include his wife, Janie Brown Heyward; three sons, Holley Heyward, Wagener, Terry Heyward, Asheville, N.C., and Steve Culbreath, Evans; a daughter, Virginia H. McDaniel, Columbia; two brothers, Norris Heyward, Monticello, Ga., and Norman Heyward, Covington, Ga.; three sisters, Effie Bland, Beech Island, Claudie Kirkland, Clearwater, and Joyce Keeney, Covington; and six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Hitchcock Hospice, 721 Richland Ave. W., Aiken, SC 29801; to New Holland Baptist Church Cemetery Fund; or to Cedar Masonic Lodge No. 184, P.O. Box 9, Wagener.

Mr. Alan Hayes

FLORENCE, S.C. -- Mr. Alan Forrest Hayes, 40, of 2409 Sarazan Court, died Thursday, June 25, 1998.

The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Florence Baptist Temple. Burial will be in Devotion Gardens, Mullins.

Mr. Hayes, a native of Mullins, was a graduate of Lakeview High School and Presbyterian College, where he played football as a wide receiver. He was a procurement specialist at the Westinghouse Savannah River Site and was a member of Florence Baptist Temple.

Survivors include his wife, Robin Brewer Hayes; two daughters, Courtney Elizabeth Hayes and Lucy Keller Hayes, both of Florence; his mother, Fontella Simmons Hayes, Lakeview; a brother, Eric Hayes III, Hartsville; and two sisters, Sheree Roebuck, Stokes, N.C., and Daphne McCuen, Belton.

Memorials may be made to Florence Baptist Temple Youth Choir Fund, 2308 S. Irby St., Florence; or to the Fran Hayes Mission Group c/o First Baptist Church, Aiken.

Mr. James Hattaway

Mr. James Hensley Hattaway, 62, of 2012 Westfield Drive, died Thursday, June 25, 1998, at Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

The funeral will be at 4 p.m. Sunday at Blythe Baptist Church, Blythe, with the Rev. James Bland officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mr. Hattaway, a native of Glascock County, had retired as a diesel mechanic. He was an Air Force veteran and a member of American Legion Post 178. He was a member of Blythe Baptist Church.

Survivors include a son, Barry Hensley Hattaway, Harlem; three daughters, Marsha Davis, Augusta, Clarise H. Koger, Holladay, Tenn., and Loriann Hattaway, Blythe; two brothers, Billy E. Hattaway, Augusta, and George C. Hattaway, Lilburn, Ga.; six sisters, Helen H. Wente, Reston, Va., Zuline Pulliam, Newnan, Ga., Peggy H. Brawn, Jonesboro, Ga., Sara H. Joyce, Dallas, Jeanne H. Seymour, Ozark, Ala., and Maria H. Gregg, Anniston, Ala.; and two grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Mike Hattaway, Cliff Hattaway, John Batchlor, Clifford Chancey, Clarke Purvis and Greg Earle.

Miss Barbara Fowler

Miss Barbara Fowler, 70, of 1105 Eisenhower Drive, died Friday, June 19, 1998, in Paris.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Platt's Funeral Home, Crawford Avenue, with the Rev. Fred Gunter officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Eastview Cemetery, Cuthbert, Ga.

Miss Fowler, a native of Cuthbert, was a graduate of Georgia State College for Women and had been an intern at Columbus City Hospital. She had retired from the Medical College of Georgia as a research chemist and was a member of First Baptist Church of Cuthbert.

Survivors include a brother, Marvin L. Fowler, Augusta.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

EATONTON, Ga. -- Kyle Edward Foster, 7, of 1043 Greensboro Highway, died Friday, June 26, 1998, at his residence.

The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at First United Methodist Church of Greensboro with the Revs. Robby Crawford, Rick Masuer and Richard Chewing officiating. Burial will be in Walker United Methodist Church Cemetery, Greensboro.

Kyle, a native of Clarke County, was a student at F.T. Gary Elementary School and a member of Walker United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his father, Paul Foster, Greensboro; his mother, Edna Foster, Eatonton; a brother, Eric Brandon Foster, Eatonton; his paternal grandparents, Buddy and Carolyn Foster, Greensboro; and his maternal grandmother, Jo Clifton, Greensboro.

Pallbearers will be Raymond Arthur, David Baloun, Jim Foster, Thomas Moon, Lee Lupton and Butch Foust.
