John J. Sheley Sr.

John Jackson Sheley Sr., 82, died June 10 at Memorial Medical Center.

He was born in Screven County and retired as an accountant for the Savannah-Chatham County Board of Education. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Temple and served on the Board of Deacons. He was a member of Solomon's Lodge No. 1, FAM, the Scottish Rite Consistory, Valley of Savannah and Alee Temple.

SURVIVORS: his wife, Mattie Smith Sheley of Savannah; a son, John J. Sheley Jr. of Savannah; two daughters, Elaine Harris of Jacksonville, Fla., and Mrs. Jackie Hall of Savannah; a brother, Keith Sheley of Atlanta; a sister, Reba Heath of Guyton; five grandchildren, Chan Sheley, David and Corey Hall, all of Savannah, Todd Smith of Jacksonville and Lori Hill of Kingsport, Tenn.; a great-granddaughter and several nieces and nephews.

VISITATION: 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. today at Hubert C. Baker Funeral Home.

Irma H. Osvald

Mrs. Irma Hendrix Osvald, 70, died June 10 at Hospice Savannah.

She was a native of Emanuel County and a resident of Savannah since 1947. She was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church and a docent at the Telfair Museum of Art. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Bonaventure Chapter and the Colonial Dames of the 17th Century. She was a volunteer for the American Red Cross.

SURVIVORS: a daughter, Karen E. Osvald of Savannah; a son, Karl S. Osvald of Casper, Wyo.; a brother, John L. Hendrix of Springfield; and a granddaughter, Julianna Osvald of Dalton.

VISITATION: 6-8 p.m. today at Fox Weeks Funeral Directors, Drayton Chapel.

GRAVESIDE SERVICE: 2 p.m. Saturday in El Bethel Cemetery in Chandler County.

Agnes L. Tuttle

MARTINEZ - Agnes L. Tuttle, 92, died June 10 at home.

She was born in Geneva County, Ala. She retired as a clerk with the Augusta Chronicle after 16 years. She was a member of West Acres Baptist Church and a former member of Second Baptist Church of Augusta, which she served as Sunday school teacher.

SURVIVORS: a son, Lawson Tutle of Martinez; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

VISITATION: 7-9 p.m. today at Platt's Funeral Home in Augusta.

FUNERAL: 11 a.m. Saturday at Platt's Funeral Home, burial in Westover Memorial Park in Augusta.

Theophilus Hamilton

LOS MOLINOS, Calif. - Theophilus "Theo" Hamilton, 76, died June 5.

He was born in Laurens County, Ga., and lived in California for 17 years. He retired from the aerospace industry after working for ABC General Foundry for 20 years. He enjoyed gardening and his work with First Baptist Church in Los Molinos.

SURVIVORS: two sons, Anthony Hamilton of Chico and Kenneth Hamilton of Cottonwood; three daughters, Shirley Farmham of Sutter Creek, Linda Power of Los Molinos and Robbin Murphy of Anderson; three sisters, Dorothy Stone of Savannah, Sally Barber of Waycross, Ga., and Edna Music of Nicholls, Ga.; two brothers, Pet and Ovid Hamilton, both of Brunswick, Ga.; 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

VISITATION: 6-9 p.m. today at Crosby Funeral Home, Alma, Ga.

Paul Warwick Jr.

BRUNSWICK - Paul Warwick Jr., 67, a former mayor of Brunswick, died June 10 at Southeast Georgia Regional Medical Center.

He was born in Atlanta and attended Darlington School in Rome and Emory University in Atlanta. He graduated from Georgia State College in Atlanta with a bachelor of business administration in insurance.

He moved to Brunswick in 1959 and was active in numerous local civic organizations and served as mayor of Brunswick from 1987-1990. He owned the Warwick Agency, which merged with Hilb, Rogal and Hamilton of St. Simons in 1990 and was executive vice president of HRH.

He was a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church and served as junior and senior warden. He was elected chairman of the Downtown Development Authority in 1985, and reappointed to the authority's board of directors in 1991. He was chairman of the Brunswick-Golden Isles Chamber of Commerce Building Committee and received the chamber's highest honor in 1990 for community service, the Alfred W. Jones Award.

He served as chairman of the Brunswick-Golden Isles Committee of 100. He was a past president of the chamber's board of directors, the Independent Insurance Agents of Glynn County, Brunswick Kiwanis Club and International Seamen's House. He was also on the board of directors for the Boys Club of Glynn and was a member of Brunswick-Glynn County Council of the Navy League and the Jaycees. He was an Army veteran.

SURVIVORS: his wife, Lynn Winchester Warwick of Brunswick; two daughters, Sandra W. Channell of Lake Forest, Ill., and Janet M. Brown of St. Simons Island; five sons, George B. Warwick, Michael K. and Jeffrey S. Maloy, all of St. Simons Island, C. Scott Maloy of Brunswick and Stephen Warwick of Munford, Tenn.; a brother, Patrick C. Dinkins of Atlanta; seven grandchildren and five nieces and nephews.

FUNERAL: 11 a.m. today at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, burial in Christ Church Cemetery, St. Simons Island.

RICHMOND HILL - Mrs. Mildred M. Graves, 72, died June 10 at Hospice Savannah.

She was born in Curwensville, Pa., and moved to Richmond Hill in 1984 from New York. She was a waitress at Laport's Diner.

SURVIVORS: her husband, Milford Graves of Richmond Hill; a son, Ronald Smith of Missouri; four daughters, Carol Troy of Aberdeen, Md., Donna Ress of Trenton, N.Y., Mary Miller of Salem, Ohio, and Linda Litz of Salona, Pa.; a sister, Emma Hamel of Altoona, Pa.; 14 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

MEMORIAL SERVICE: will be held in Maryland.

Toney B. LeCount

RICEBORO - Toney B. LeCount, 73, died June 7 at Liberty Regional Medical Center.

He was born in Liberty County and attended county schools. He retired as a deliveryman for Hinesville Gas and Gum Branch Gas Co. He was a deacon of the Junior Church of Christ Holiness Unto the Lord in Riceboro and was an Army veteran of World War II.

SURVIVORS: his wife, Edith M. LeCount of Riceboro; four daughters, Joyce Green of Richmond Hill, Jessie M. LeCount of Annandale, Va., Eva M. Hargrove of Riceboro and Patricia H. Brown of Hinesville; a son, Donald LeCount of Baltimore; three sisters, Elnora Bradwell and Mary L. Carter, both of Miami, and Eva M. Hargrove of Riceboro; and several grandchildren.

VISITATION: 6-8 p.m. today at Junior Church of Christ Holiness Unto the Lord.

FUNERAL: 11 a.m. Saturday at Junior Church of Christ Holiness Unto the Lord, burial in First African Baptist Church Cemetery at the Crossroads in Riceboro.

JENKINSBURG - Anna Elizabeth Johnson, infant daughter of Andrew Johnson and Aleshia Sullivan Johnson, died June 6 at Henry Medical Center in Stockbridge.

ADDITIONAL SURVIVORS: a brother, Jonathan Johnson of Jenkinsburg; her maternal grandparents, Myrna and Harold Sullivan of Hampton; her paternal grandparents, Donald R. and Jean H. Johnson of Pembroke; and a great-grandmother, Leona King of Social Circle.

Charles Elliot Dowd, 52, died June 10 at Memorial Medical Center.

He was born in Johnson County and lived in Savannah since 1992. He was a retired barber and attended the Baptist Church. He attended Georgia School for the Deaf in Cave Springs.

SURVIVORS: his mother and stepfather, Jean T. DeMine and Thomas E. DeMine Sr. of Bloomingdale; two brothers, Thomas E. DeMine Jr. of North Augusta, S.C., and Edward L. DeMine of Bloomingdale; a sister, Linda D. Bucenec of Orlando, Fla.; and several nephews.

Mary Thelma "Granny" Young, 82, died June 11 at Tara Nursing Home.

She was a native of Colquitt County and lived in Savannah since 1954. She retired from Morrison's Cafeteria downtown and was a member of Victory Baptist Church.

SURVIVORS: three daughters, Charlene McDougall of Roswell, Rita Kicklighter of Savannah and Diane Shearouse of Guyton; a son, Matt Young of Oliver; two brothers, James R. Hancock Jr. of Camilla and Leonard Hancock of Pelham; 21 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was a native of Evans County, Ga. She was owner and operator of Dixie Carolina Couriers in Columbia.

SURVIVORS: her husband, David L. Gilbert of Columbia; a daughter, Phyllis Acre of Rock Hill; two sons, Thomas Bacon Jr. and Chuck Bacon, both of Columbia; a sister, Joyce Price Waters of Hagan, Ga.; five grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
