BRISTOL -- Andrew Alge Lightsey, 71, died June 11 at home.

He was a lifelong resident of Appling County and a retired farmer.

SURVIVORS: daughter and son-in-law, Debra Trent and John Trent of Jacksonville, Fla.; sister, Myrtle Steedley of Baxley; brother, Eugene Lightsey of Bristol; grandchildren, Michelle Beckham and John McBride Jr., both of Jacksonville; great-grandchildren, Amber Jones, Shaun Hoewischer and Scott Beckham, all of Jacksonville and Michael McBride of Calhoun.

Margaret Elizabeth Miller, 80, died June 9 at Hospice Savannah.

She was born in Philadelphia and was a homemaker. She was a Methodist and a resident of Point Pleasant, N.J., for 17 years prior to moving to Savannah.

SURVIVORS: husband, Wilbur W. Miller of West Chester, Pa.; daughters, Linda Prichard of Savannah and Judy DiFilippo of Aston, Pa.; sisters, Catherine Fream and Ruth Dise, both of Whiting, N.J.; five grandchildren, a great-grandchild and a number of nieces and nephews.

COLLINS -- Marjorie Coats Mobley, 74, died June 11.

She was a native of Tattnall County and a homemaker. She was a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church No. 1 in Glennville, the Collins Burial Society and Order of Eastern Star Society.

SURVIVORS: daughters, Irene Mayner Collins and Idonia Butler, both of Savannah, Joann Bell of Jamaica, N.Y., and Marie Harris of Orangeburg, S.C.; sons, Willie E. Mobley of Detroit, and Henry and Tony Mobley, both of Savannah; sisters, Nina Arnold, Helen Collins and Eudell Vinson, all of Detroit; brother, Marion Coats of Inkster, Mich.; 15 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

SOPERTON -- Mrs. Lounell Mosley, 72, died June 11 at a Macon hospital.

She was a lifelong resident of Treutlen County and was the widow of Elza Mosley. She was retired from Soperton Manufacturing Co. and attended Trinity Assembly of God Church, Soperton.

SURVIVORS: son, Chester Mosley of Soperton; sisters, Kathleen Hackle and Reba Nobles, both of Soperton, Evelyn Slavik of Long Island, N.Y., and Otha Green of Milledgeville; and a brother, Charlie Cooper of Soperton.

John W. Newton

HILLTONIA -- John W. Newton, 53, died June 9 at Screven County Hospital.

He was born in Screven County. He was a retired farmer and a member of St. Paul Baptist Church in Girard.

SURVIVORS: his wife, Thelma Newton of Sylvania; sons, Earnest Youman of Sylvania and Robert L. Youman of Pasadena, Calif.; daughters, Patricia Newton and Gracie Johnson, both of Sylvania; brothers, Willie A. Newton of St. Petersburg, William Newton, Irvin Jackson and Calvin Stewart, all of Sylvania, Ricky F. Newton of Augusta, Johnnie Jackson of Tampa, Fla., and James Sello of New Jersey; sisters, Annie L. Newton, Gloria Newton Roundtree and Ollie M. Houston, all of St. Petersburg, Fla., May Ruth Sello, Gloria Mae Covington of Tampa and Erma Mims of Sylvania; and 11 grandchildren.

Crawford L. Pilcher

WARRENTON -- Crawford Long Pilcher, 90, died June 12 in Macon.

He was born and attended the public schools in Warrenton. He attended Emory University and was admitted to the Georgia Bar as a lawyer in 1933. He practiced law in Warrenton, serving on City Council and later as City Attorney. He was elected to the Georgia General Assembly in 1937. He served in the State Attorney General's office from 1944 to 1945. In 1949, he was elected to the State Senate, serving as a Senate Floor Leader and was appointed to the Public Service Commission in 1952 and became chairman of the Commission in 1962, retiring in 1972.

He was a former member of Stone Mountain Memorial Association and Jekyll Island Authority. He was chairman of the board of Secura and was a member of Gridiron Society and Chi Phi fraternity. He was a former chairman of the board of stewards of First Methodist Church, Warrenton, and was a former president of Warrenton Kiwanis Club. He was the widower of Christine Einstein Pilcher.

SURVIVORS: daughters and sons-in-law, Katherine P. and Carr G. Dodson of Macon and Suzanne P. and Rhett L. Moody, all of Macon; sister, Miriam P. Rountree of Metter; grandchildren, Mary D. Macdonald of Savannah, Kate Dodson, Carr Dodson Jr., Will Dodson and Anna K. Moody, all of Macon and Rhett Moody III of Atlanta; a great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.

Rev. Charlie Reese Sr.

GARFIELD -- The Rev. Charlie Reese Sr., 70, died June 10 at Bulloch Memorial Hospital.

He was born in Jenkins County and was a retired factory employee. He was pastor of Sandhill Baptist Church.

SURVIVORS: sons, Charlie Reese Jr. and John Reese, both of Swainsboro, George and James Reese, both of Garfield, Jerry Reese of Statesboro and Bobby Jones of Vero Beach, Fla.; daughters, Bessie Cooper of Millen, Rosa Robinson of Twin City and Juanita McGee of Canoochee; brothers, Robert and Edward Reese, both of Millen and Willis Reese of Hilltonia; sisters, Annie Oglesby of Millen and Josephine Ford of Garfield; 40 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

Gerald L. Scott

REIDSVILLE -- Gerald L. "Jerry" Scott, 61, died June 11 at Candler Hospital in Savannah.

He was a native of Tattnall County and a member of Reidsville Baptist Church. He served as first sergeant in the National Guard Armory 230th Artillery Battery B. in Reidsville, before his last job in maintenance at Smith State Prison in Glennville.

SURVIVORS: sons and daughters-in-law, Kenny and Linda Scott of Monroe, Denny and Georgia Scott of Snellville and Lee and Debra Scott of Lithonia; his mother, Nena Scott of Glennville; sister, Sandra McGuire of Savannah; brother, Curtis Scott of McDonough; two grandsons, several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

William Small Jr.

William "Tiny" Small Jr., 51, died June 9 at Memorial Medical Center.

He was born in Savannah and graduated from Tompkins High School in 1967. He was a security guard for United Security Agency since 1964.

Robert Smith

GLASGOW, KY. -- Robert "Bob" Smith, 58, died June 5.

He was born in Pierce County and lived in Kentucky since 1980 having gone there from Washington state, Kansas and Georgia respectively. He was an owner and operator of several Western Sizzlin Steak Houses and prior to becoming involved in the food service business had owned and operated a service station in Glynn County. He was an Army veteran having served with the Signal Corps at bases in Europe and the United States. He was an avid golfer and a Baptist.

SURVIVORS: sons, Paul S. Smith of Brunswick and Robert C. Smith of Glasgow; daughter, Patricia Smith; three grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Annette White

GLENWOOD -- Annette White, 52, died June 12 at Fairview Park Hospital in Dublin.

She was a native of Wheeler County and lived in Florida for a few years returning to Glenwood in 1981. She was a licensed practical nurse and last employed by the Wheeler County Hospital in Glenwood.

SURVIVORS: daughter, Colette Adams of Glenwood; son, Nowling of Soperton; his mother and stepfather, Mattie and W.J. Mitchell of Glenwood; his father and stepmother, Morris and Marie McGee of Deland, Fla.; brothers, Sammy McGee of Daytona, Fla., and Morris McGee II of Deland; a sister, Jerri Branton of Deland; and six grandchildren.

Julius E. Williams

HARDEEVILLE -- Julius Emanuel "Butch" Williams, 49, died June 11.

He was a native of Hardeeville and attended the Jasper County Public schools and the J.H. Hill Center in Ridgeland. He participated in the special olympics program and was awarded Poster Person of the Year. He was also awarded honorary commissioner for the F.A.S.T. baseball program in Jasper County. He was a member of St. Stephen AME Church, where he served on the usher board.

SURVIVORS: sisters, Margaret Simmons of Hardeeville and Helen Womack of New York; brother, Walter Kinlaw of Hardeeville; his foster mother, Gunnell Bennett of Hardeeville; an aunt, Geneva Moore of Hardeeville; and two uncles, Heriot Howard of Hardeeville and Willie Howard of Tupelo, Miss.

Robert H. Anderson Jr.

STATESBORO - Robert Hampton Anderson Jr., 82, died June 12 at Memorial Medical Center.

He was a longtime resident of Savannah and moved to Statesboro one year ago. He was retired from Seaboard Coast Line after 40 years, was a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church, Forest City Gun Club, and Zurabbel Lodge No. 15 F&AM. He was a Nobel with Alee Temple, past president of the Director's Staff of the Alee Shrine, secretary of the Locomotive Engineer's Local, and a world-class skeet shooter.

SURVIVORS: his wife, Mary T. Anderson of Statesboro; two daughters, Joan A. Wilson of Statesboro and Barbara A. Rowell of Savannah; a brother, C.W. Anderson of Savannah; a sister, Thelma Bailey of Greenville, S.C.; and five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

She was a native of Washington County, a longtime resident of Harrison, and was the widow of Spivey Elton. She was a homemaker and a member of Harrison Baptist Church.

SURVIVORS: two daughters, Helen E. Cave of Savannah, and Grace Pontantus of Elyria, Ohio; a son, William H. Elton Sr. of Soperton; a sister, Vivian Young of Harrison; and six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
