JESUP -- Lyn Park, 46, died June 20 at Wayne Memorial Hospital of cardiac arrest.

She was born in Wayne County and was a member of Jesup First United Methodist Church and a special education teacher at Wayne County High School. She was a 1970 graduate of Wayne County High School and a graduate of the University of Georgia. She received a master's degree in education from Georgia Southern University.

SURVIVORS: her father and stepmother, Ben and Maybelle Park of Jesup; a sister and brother-in-law, Patti and Kenny Bryant of Jesup; a brother and sister-in-law, Brad and Debbie Park of Baxley; two nieces, two nephews and a great-niece.

VISITATION: 7-9 p.m. today at Rinehart & Sons Funeral Home, Jesup.

FUNERAL: 11 a.m. Tuesday at Jesup First United Methodist Church, burial in Pinecrest Memorial Cemetery.

Ivy Morris

EDEN -- Ivy Morris, 86, died June 21 at home under hospice care.

He was born in Bulloch County and lived in Effingham County for 26 years. He was a retired farmer and employee of Georgia-Pacific. He was an elder of Landmark Holiness Church.

SURVIVORS: his wife, Alice A. Morris of Eden; three daughters, Doris Biggans of Guyton, Nora Kirkland of Vidalia and Gloriann Flaherty of Reidsville; seven sons, Jimmy Morris of Charleston, Herbert Morris of Eden, Don Morris of Hinesville, Jerry Morris of Portal, Ivy Morris of Midway, Ray Morris of Augusta and Lonnie Morris of Statesboro; three sisters, Lottie Stark, Stella Donahue and Lorine Kennedy, all of Statesboro; a brother, Harmon Morris of Brooklet; 27 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

VISITATION: 6-9 p.m. today at Hodges-Turner Funeral Home, Statesboro.

FUNERAL: 2 p.m. Tuesday at Hodges-Turner Funeral Home, burial in Bulloch Memorial Gardens.

BRUNSWICK -- Mildred Juanita Browning Powell, 74, died June 20 at home.

She was born in Glenwood and attended schools in Lumber City. She moved to Brunswick 47 years ago from Jacksonville, Fla. She retired as a secretary with Golden Sea Food (King Shrimp Co.).

SURVIVORS: her husband, William M. Powell of Brunswick; a daughter, Oveida P. Ray of Brunswick; three grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Leroy Johnson

Leroy "Pappy" Johnson, 63, died June 21 at Memorial Medical Center.

He was born in Savannah and attended the public schools of Chatham County. He retired from Liberty Plumbing Co. and the Food Bank. He was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church, the Usher Board and the Brotherhood Club. He was a member of Glen Masonic Lodge No. 1, F&AM, and warden for the Order of Eastern Star.

SURVIVORS: his wife, Ruth C. Johnson of Savannah; four daughters, Delores Larck, Cynthia Gadson, Patricia Johnson and Connie J. Robinson, all of Savannah; five sisters, Ida M. Johnson of Bronx, N.Y., Elizabeth Hyman of White Plains, N.Y., Annette Galloway of New York, Brenda Parker of Atlanta and Patricia Murphy of Savannah; two brothers, Stanley Grant of Tampa, Fla., and Harold Freeman of Savannah; an aunt, eight grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.

Carol Strayer

ST. SIMONS ISLAND -- Miss Carol Strayer, 46, died June 18 at Southeast Georgia Regional Medical Center in Brunswick.

She was a lifelong resident of Glynn County and a 1970 graduate of Glynn Academy. She received a bachelor of science in education degree from the University of Georgia in 1974 and a master of education from Georgia Southern University in 1980. She taught at Eulonia Elementary School for four years and transferred to Glyndale Elementary School when it opened in 1978. She served as Fourth Grade Team Leader during her 20 years at Glyndale and was named the 1989-90 Teacher of the Year there. She was a member of McKendree United Methodist Church.

SURVIVORS: her mother, Sue Strayer of Brunswick; a sister, Linda S. Zebrowski of Brunswick; a brother, Bobby Strayer of Brunswick; three nieces, two nephews and two great-nephews.

VISITATION: 7-9 p.m. today at Edo Miller & Sons Funeral Home, Brunswick.

Marvin Henry "MH" Brant of Port Wentworth died June 19.

He was born in Bulloch County and lived in Savannah for 52 years. He had been a diesel mechanic with Peterbilt.

SURVIVORS: his wife, Nora Brant of Port Wentworth; a son, Tommy Brant of Rincon; two daughters, Betty Sprague of Clyo and Penny Fort of Pooler; six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.

He lived in Hinesville for 13 years and retired from the construction business. He was an Army veteran of World War II and the Korean War.

SURVIVORS: his wife, Julia Zurlo of Hinesville; four sons, Gregory Zurlo of Boston, Eric Zurlo of Pittsburg, John Zurlo of Los Angeles and Mark Zurlo of Middletown, N.Y.; and a brother, Ralph L. Zurlo of Rock Springs, Wyo.

SYLVANIA -- Rule "Boy" Hunter, 74, died June 21 at Liberty Regional Hospital in Hinesville.

He was born in Screven County and was a member of Goloid United Methodist Church. He worked at Savannah River Site.

SURVIVORS: two sons, Charles Hunter of Brooklyn, N.Y., and John E. Hunter of Sylvania; three daughters, Christine McIver of Riceboro, Louise Hill of New Rochelle, N.Y., and Docie Foy of Brooklyn; three brothers, the Rev. Edward Hunter of Sylvania, Cecil Hunter of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Stanley Hunter of Augusta; a sister, Queen Albright of Sylvania; a stepsister, Lola Williams of Augusta; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

She was born in Ware County and lived in Pierce County and Florida a number of years. She retired as a bookkeeper for the Maritime Service and was a member of the Old Lyons Disciples of Christ Christian Church. She was the widow of Joseph S. Gray Sr. and Lewis J. Cox.

He was born in Chatham County and was a member of Meldrim Baptist Church and Pine Island Hunting Club. He retired as a machine adjuster at Union Camp Corp. and was an Army veteran of the Korean conflict.
