Herman A. Williams
GUYTON - Herman A. Williams, 52, died June 25 at Hospice Savannah.

He was born in Screven County and was a member of Safe Haven Mission. He had worked at Studier Kart Supply and Great Dane Trailers.

SURVIVORS: his mother, Virginia W. Williams of Guyton; three sisters, Myra Lewis, Nell Bragg and Betty Crosby, all of Guyton; two brothers, Murphy Williams of Rincon and Terry Williams of Guyton; and several nieces and nephews.

FUNERAL: 11 a.m. today at Thomas C. Strickland Funeral Home, Effingham County, burial in Jackson Baptist Church Cemetery in Screven County.

Gladys Geiger Printer, 82, died June 24 at Memorial Medical Center.

She was born in Evans County, lived in New York for 50 years, Jacksonville, Fla., for 23 years and Savannah a year.

SURVIVORS: her husband, Mell C. Printer of Savannah; a sister, Willie Lee Reynolds of Savannah; three brothers, Raymond Geiger of Savannah and Charlie and Frank Geiger, both of Claxton; two sisters-in-law, several nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.

Lucille M. Farabaugh
Mrs. Lucille Marie ŒŒLucyıı Farabaugh, 58, died June 24 at home.

She was a native of Jamaica, N.Y., and a resident of Savannah the past 17 years. She attended Fordham University. She worked as a bookkeeper and an accountant for the Chatham Association for Retarded Citizens, and more recently for Chatham Countyıs Child Support Enforcement.

SURVIVORS: her husband, Donald R. Farabaugh of Savannah; a son and daughter-in-law, Clint and Karen Farabaugh of Marietta; her daughters and sons-in-law, Diane and Jay Deering of Buford and Jennifer and Dennison Smith of Savannah; three sisters, Bernadett Wright of Salem, Mass., Delores Zarzycki of Mineola, N.Y., and Marilyn Dixon of West Charles, Pa.; and six grandchildren.

Charles Leon Davis Sr.

Retired Army National Guard Maj. Gen. Charles Leon Davis Sr., 85, died June 25 at Candler Hospital.

He was a native of Wadley and a longtime resident of Savannah. He was a graduate of Swainsboro High School and attended the University of Georgia. He joined the National Guard in 1929 as private and entered active duty as a second lieutenant in 1940. He was promoted to second lieutenant in 1941, captain in 1942, major and lieutenant colonel in 1942 and brigadier general in 1957. He served in the Southwest and Central Pacific during World War II.

He was appointed commanding general of the 48th Armored Division Artillery in 1967. When the 48th Division was deactivated in 1968, he was assigned to the State Headquarters Detachment, Georgia National Guard. He was placed on the ŒŒRetired Listıı on April 7, 1968, and promoted to major general retired.

He received numerous medals and citations, including the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star and Georgia National Guard Service Medal with Silver Boarıs Head.

He was a member of St. Johnıs Episcopal Church, a past president of Chatham Artillery Association and Kiwanis Club Metropolitan Savannah and a past lieutenant governor of the Georgia Kiwanis 8th Division. He was a member of Solomons Lodge No. 1, F&AM, Scottish Rite Bodies, 32 Degree Mason, a past commander of Military Order of the World Wars, a past president of Association of the U.S. Army Coastal Empire and a member of American Legion Post 184, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 660, 1st Volunteer Regiment of the Georgia, Savannah Volunteer Guards Association and the retired Officers Association of Georgia. He served as a director and board member of the USO, the Humane Society, Chatham Nursing Home, Coastal Highway District of Georgia, Board of Tax Equalization of Chatham County, Chatham County Mosquito Control Commission and the Navy League of Georgia.

He was formerly employed by Mutual Life Insurance Co., P.H. Naval Stores and Union Camp Corp.

SURVIVORS: his wife, Chappie Bragg Atkinson Davis of Savannah; three sons, Charles L. Davis Jr. of Savannah, Alan R. Atkinson of Atlanta and Charles W. Atkinson of Key West, Fla. a sister, Peggy Galletta of Savannah; two grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

VISITATION: 6-8 p.m. today at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.

FUNERAL: 10 a.m. Saturday at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel, with military graveside services in Bonaventure Cemetery.

Ralph Kersey
LIZELLA - Ralph Kersey, 79, died June 24 at the Medical Center of Central Georgia in Macon.

He was born in Emanuel County and was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a retired farmer and also retired from Tysonıs Print Shop as a printer. He was a member of Lizella Baptist Church and a former member of Adrian First Baptist Church.

SURVIVORS: his wife, Tincie Douglas Kersey of Lizella; two daughters, Martha J. Belote of Dry Branch and Ramona Price of Wrightsville; a son, Doug Kersey of Lizella; a sister, Vonnella Douglas of Warner Robins; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

FUNERAL: 11 a.m. Saturday at Sardis Primitive Baptist Church near Kite, burial in the church cemetery.

She was born in Allendale County and was a graduate of Wade Hampton High School, where she was a majorette with the Marching Band and later was active with the Hampton County Majorette Group. She was a member and Sunday school teacher at Hickory Grove Baptist Church.

SURVIVORS: her husband, Thomas M. Jamison of Brunson; two daughters, Billie A. and Misty E. Jamison, both of Brunson; a son, Dustin M. Jamison of Brunson; her mother, Daisy D. Padgett of Varnville; two brothers, Clarence R. Padgett Jr. of Clover and Benjamin F. Padgett of Asheville, N.C.; two sisters, Angela D. Goode of Varnville and Cathy P. Long of Fairfax; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Mildred Hutchins, 93, died June 25 at Candler Hospital.

She was born in Savannah and attended the public schools in Chatham County and Commercial School of New York City. She was a retired interior decorator. She was a member of Bethel AME Church, a Sunday school teacher, director of Vacation Bible School, church secretary, class leader and a member of the Missionary Society, Gospel Chorus and Bible Study Group.

FREEPORT, N.Y. - Sarah Day Strickland, 81, died June 24 at North Shore Hospital in Manhasset, N.Y.

She was born and educated in Savannah. She lived in New York most of her life and was a retired New York state emergency medical services technician. She was a former member of St. Thomas AME Church, Savannah, and a member of Memorial Presbyterian Church in Roosevelt.

SURVIVORS: a sister, Gladys S. Frazier of New York City; a granddaughter, Ussual Kelly of Spokane, Wash.; a grandson, George F. Strickland of New York; a number of nieces and nephews, including Nathalie W. Reynolds of Savannah; and other relatives.
