Mrs. Eula Maurine Williams, 80, died June 27 at Hospice Savannah.

She was born in Bryan County and lived in Savannah for 40 years. She was a homemaker and a Baptist.

SURVIVORS: two sisters, Mary B. Bacon of Ellabell and Pauline Lanier of Savannah; four grandchildren, Tina Boddiford of Statesboro, Michelle Hodges of Nevils, Randy Williams of Tulsa, Okla., and Sherry Kraft of Cleveland, Okla.; and 11 great-grandchildren.

FUNERAL: 9: 30 a.m. today at Morrison Funeral Home, Pembroke, burial in Lower Black Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, U.S. 280 at Black Creek.

Dovie B. Ward

Mrs. Dovie Beasley Ward, 72, died June 27 at Hospice Savannah.

She was born in Dalton and lived in Savannah for 60 years. She was the widow of Norman Ward. She was a charter member of Montgomery Presbyterian Church.

SURVIVORS: a son, Fred Beasley of Savannah; a daughter, Harriett Beasley of Savannah; a brother, Dennis Wright of Savannah; a sister, Sue W. Baldwin of Savannah; six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

VISITATION: 6-8 p.m. today at Hubert C. Baker Funeral Home.

FUNERAL: 10 a.m. Tuesday at Hubert C. Baker Funeral Home, burial in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.

Henry Stafford

JESUP - Henry Stafford, 79, died June 28 at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

He was born in Long County and retired from the Navy as chief boatswain's mate in 1968 after 20 years of service. He was a former resident of Jacksonville, Fla., where retired as a Globe Security guard after 20 years and was employed by Refrigerator Transport. He was a Baptist.

SURVIVORS: his wife, Thersa Gallant Stafford of Jesup; a daughter, Barbara S. Eccles of Middleburg, Fla.; two sons, Robert Stafford of Ludowici and Thomas Stafford of Orlando, Fla.; a stepson, George Cloud of Jacksonville; three brothers, W.J. Stafford of Ludowici, Gordon O. Stafford of San Antonio and Roland D. Stafford of Blackshear; four sisters, Mary Howard and Clarice Horne, both of Ludowici, and Edna Henneman and Jane Wright, both of Jacksonville; seven grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

VISITATION: 6-9 p.m. today at Gordon-Harrison Funeral Home, Jesup.

FUNERAL: 2 p.m. Tuesday at Gordon-Harrison Funeral Home, burial in Pinecrest Memorial Cemetery, Wayne County, with full military honors.

Wesley S. Parker

Wesley Simon Parker, 81, died June 28 at home.

He was born in Claxton. He was a member of Cokesbury United Methodist Church and was on the Administrative Board, the Board of Trustees and in the Men's Club. He was also a member of Carpenters Union Local No. 256, Thunderbolt Lodge No. 693, FAM, and an avid fisherman. He worked for Artley Construction Co. as a foreman, and was responsible for restoring many of the historical buildings in downtown Savannah.

SURVIVORS: his wife, Leatha Herrington Parker of Savannah; a daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Charles Smith of Savannah; a son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Jerry Parker of Savannah; a brother, Wallace Parker of Claxton; two sisters, Lois Turner of Perry, Fla., and Bernice Grier of Vidalia; four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

VISITATION: 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Hubert C. Baker Funeral Home.

FUNERAL: 11 a.m. Wednesday at Hubert C. Baker Funeral Home, burial in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.

George W. Abelson Sr.

George William Abelson Sr., 83, died June 28 at Candler Hospital.

He was born in New York and lived in Savannah most of his life. He was a 1934 graduate of Benedictine Military School and attended Georgia Teachers College. He was an Army veteran of World War II and retired as a foreman from Union Camp Corp. after 38 years. He coached the Savannah Lions' Boys Club Little League baseball team.

SURVIVORS: his wife, Delores R. Abelson of Savannah; a son, George W. Abelson Jr. of Savannah; a daughter, Martha A. Scarboro of Savannah; two granddaughters and grandson-in-law, Donna S. and Ross Mosteller and Diane Scarboro, all of Savannah; a great-grandchild, Ian Mosteller of Savannah; and several nieces and nephews.

VISITATION: 6-8 p.m. today at Fox Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.

Della H. Salter, 89, died June 27 at Brighton Care Home in Brighton, Colo.

She was born in Statesboro and was a member of Order of the Eastern Star, Bethlehem Chapter No. 289.

SURVIVORS: a daughter, Jane Zimmerman of Brighton; a sister, Marie Strickland of Fayetteville, N.C.; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Virginia L. Alexander

Virginia Lee Lightsey Alexander, 77, died June 28 at Memorial Medical Center.

She was born in Claxton and was a 1938 graduate of Claxton High School. She was a member of Morningside Baptist Church and for many years taught Sunday school. She trained as a beautician and worked for the Army Embarkation Office in Charleston during World War II. She worked also at S.H. Kress in Savannah.

SURVIVORS: her husband of 52 years, A.L. Alexander of Savannah; a son and daughter-in-law, Fred and Diane Alexander of Franklin, N.C.; a sister, Irene Nichols of Jesup; a brother, George Lightsey of Claxton; three grandchildren, Brian, Alison Lee and Jeff Alexander, all of Franklin; and several nieces and nephews.

VISITATION: 6-8 p.m. today at Fox Weeks Funeral Directors, Drayton Chapel.

FUNERAL: 10 a.m. Tuesday at Morningside Baptist Church, burial in Hillcrest Abbey Memorial Park.

Bernice Mitchell

CLAXTON - Bernice Mitchell, 78, died June 27 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Savannah.

He was born in Evans County and was a member of St. Christopher Catholic Church. He retired from Evans County Road Commission and from the Marine Corps. He was a veteran of World War II and Guadalcanal. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion and Disabled American Veterans.

SURVIVORS: his wife, Julliette M. Mitchell of Claxton; seven sons, Bernice Mitchell Jr., Kenneth, John, Jesse and Peter Mitchell, all of Claxton, Gary Mitchell of San Clemente, Calif., and Matt Mitchell of Metter; two daughters, Catherine Rushing and Jeanna Mitchell, both of Claxton; two sisters, Beulah I. Hinson and Irene Moncrief, both of Claxton; 22 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

VISITATION: 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at NeSmith Funeral Home, Claxton.

Charles W. Carson Sr.

WARSAW ISLAND, S.C. - Charles W. Carson Sr., 68, died June 28 at home.

He was born in Vance and retired from the U.S. Post Office and worked for many years as a commercial fisherman. He was a member of Carteret Street United Methodist Church.

SURVIVORS: his wife, Gloria Ann Carson of Warsaw; five children, Charles W. Carson Jr. of Atlanta, John M. and William A. Carson, both of Warsaw Island, J. Mark Carson of Beaufort and Patricia C. Lewin of Lobeco; two brothers, James D. Carson of Dallas and L.A. Carson of Morgantown, N.C.; a sister, Margaret C. Gregg of Athens, Ga.; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

William E. Cadle

SWAINSBORO - William Eden Cadle, 82, died June 27 at Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Augusta.

He was born in Swainsboro and had been a member of the Boy Scouts. He attended public schools in Swainsboro and graduated from a high school in Monroe. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He operated Cadle's Feed and Seed in Swainsboro from 1946-1957 and operated Cadle's Amoco Service Station from 1959-1968. He had worked as a bookkeeper at Flander's Tire Co. He had been a volunteer fireman with the city of Swainsboro, a member of the Grand Lodge of Georgia Free and Accepted Masonry, Swainsboro Lodge No. 244, the Shriners, and Emanuel County Sportsmen's Club and a life member of the Lanier-Moore Chapter of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

SURVIVORS: two sons, Farris W. Cadle of Savannah and John E. Cadle of Cambridge, Mass.

VISITATION: 7-9 p.m. today at Tomlinson Funeral Home, Swainsboro.

Doris A. Moore, 81, died June 27 at Candler Hospital.

SURVIVORS: two sons, Ronald A. Moore Sr. of Conyers and Michael A. Moore of Sevierville, Tenn.; two brothers, Harold Kenerly of Snellville and John Kenerly of Lilburn; two sisters, Geraldine Johnson of Lilburn and Utrah McDaniel of Lawrenceville; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
