Bobby Oneil Clark

Mr. Bobby Oneil Clark, age 77, of McDonough, Georgia died July 13, 2008. Mr. Clark was born in Fulton County the son of the late Gladys Mae Hicks and Alphonso Wilhelm Clark. Mr. Clark served his country in the US Army during the Korean Conflict, he retired from Atlantic Steele, and he worked as a volunteer with the Henry County Heritage and Hidden Valley Senior Centers. Mr. Clark enjoyed being with his family, friends, hunting, fishing and was an avid pool player.

Mr. Clark is survived by his wife of 54 years, Freddie Clark of McDonough; children, Joseph Clark (Sherri) of Maryville, Tennessee and Beth Semasky (Mike) of Marietta; grandchildren, Justin Webb, Lindsay Webb, Daniel Clark, and Anna Clark; sisters, Joan Green of Columbus, and Alice Rogers of Dunwoody; several nieces and nephews.

Services for Mr. Clark were held July 16, 2008 in the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home with Pastor Robb Harrell officiating. Interment Locust Grove Cemetery. Haisten Funeral Home, in charge of arrangements.

Lewis Evans Jackson

Mr. Lewis Evans Jackson, age 81 of McDonough, Georgia died July 15, 2008. He was born in Jenkins County son of the late Elijah L. and Marie Evans Jackson. Lewis served his country in the Unites States Army; attended Cornerstone Baptist Church; was a retired over-the-road truck driver for Superior Trucking and Atlanta Wire; and was a member of Riverdale Masonic Lodge # 709. He was preceded in death by his wife, Audrey June Hart Jackson.

Survivors include his brother, Noel Jackson of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; nieces, Cathy Tate of Salem, Oregon, Chris Campbell of Portland, Oregon; nephew, Don Jackson of Portland, Oregon; several cousins in south Georgia.

Services were held July 22 from the Chapel of Haisten Funeral Home with Rev. Eddie Roberts officiating. Interment Sherwood Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to the Masonic Children’s Home or the Cornerstone Baptist Church in memory of Mr. Lewis. Haisten Funeral Home, in charge of arrangements.

Michael James Kennedy

Mr. Michael James Kennedy, age 49, of McDonough Georgia died July 14, 2008. Michael was born in Germany; served his country in the United States Army and worked construction for many years. He enjoyed fishing and spending time at the lake with his children on his boat. He was preceded in death by his father, Edward O. Kennedy.

Survivors include his wife, Sheila O’Melia Kennedy of Jonesboro; children, Edward Michael Kennedy and Ashley Ann Kennedy of Jonesboro; mother, Gertrude (Oma) Kennedy of McDonough; siblings, Linda (Paul) Harris of Rio Vista, California, Edward O. Kennedy, Jr. (Pamela) of Yucca Valley, California, Josie Sarah (Russell F.) Amerson of McDonough, Shirley Ann (Jim) Wallace of Huntington Beach, California, Patrick Henry Kennedy of McDonough; nieces and nephews, Kevin (Sheba) Harris of San Francisco, California, Frankie Andrews II of Stockbridge, Brian Boughan of Huntington Beach, California, Barbara Ann Boughan of Huntington Beach, California, Tara Amerson of McDonough; great niece, Zoe Harris of San Francisco, California; aunts, Marianne (Dan) Rice of Jonesboro, Helga (Earl) Rice of Griffin and their families.

Services were held July 20 from the Chapel of Haisten Funeral Home with Rev. Alvie Rodgers officiating. Haisten Funeral Home, in charge of arrangements.

Fern Miller

Mrs. Fern Miller, age 76, of McDonough, Georgia died July 12, 2008. Born in Bronx, New York, to the late Cyril and Vivian G. Flanders, Mrs. Miller lived in Throggs Neck New York for over 50 years before moving to McDonough. She raised two wonderful children (Brenda and Douglas) and supported the Bronx Police Department’s 45th precinct, as an administrative aide for 20 years before retiring. As a McDonough resident, Fern, attended the Unity Church of Morrow. A great care-giver, Fern loved watching professional baseball, especially the New York Mets, Yankees and Atlanta Braves. An active grandmother and great-grandmother, she enjoyed bowling (she was in a bowling league for several years); enjoyed traveling and working in her flower garden. She was also an an avid reader and great cook. Music and meditation were also other passions; however, her greatest love was her family, especially her grandchildren. She was beloved by many friends.

Mrs. Miller is survived by daughter, Brenda (Rod) Tyler of Waldorf, Maryland; son, Douglas (Regina) Miller of McDonough; six grandchildren; four great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, cousins and great neighborhood friends.

Services were held July 21, 2008 at the Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors chapel with Pastor Sharma Lewis officiating. Interment Kennesaw Memorial Park. Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors in charge of arrangements.

James F. Freeman

Mr. James F. Freeman, age 47, of McDonough, Georgia died July 17, 2008. Mr. Freeman was born in DeKalb County, Georgia. Mr. Freeman was a devoted husband, father, and friend, he was in trucking, he enjoyed working in his yard, was an avid Georgia Bulldog fan, and he enjoyed working out.

Survivors are his wife, Gena Freeman of McDonough; children, Whitney and Clarke Swiedler of Atlanta and Jamie and Summer Freeman of McDonough.

A private memorial service was held by the family. Haisten Funeral Home, in charge of arrangements.

Frank Norman Strickland

Mr. Frank Norman Strickland, Sr., age 82, of Griffin, Georgia died July 20, 2008. Mr. Strickland was born in Alvaton, the son of the late Annie Belle Higgins and Emmett Ansley Strickland. He was a member of Jonesboro Road Baptist Church, he served his country in the US Army and was in the 82nd Airborne Division, 504th Parachute Infantry Regiment. He lived in Henry County for 38 years, and he enjoyed traveling to Florida Beaches and spending time with his family especially the family holidays.

Mr. Strickland is survived by his wife, Vesta Brown Strickland of Griffin; children, Jane Martin of McDonough, Anne Deyton of Stockbridge, Marie Shepherd of Griffin, Frank Strickland Jr. of McDonough, Ray Strickland of McDonough, Johnny Strickland of McDonough, Jerry Strickland and Terry Strickland of Stockbridge; sisters, Rebecca Atkinson of Newnan, Charlotte Kuhn of Alvaton; brothers, Charles Strickland of Covington and Ernest Strickland of Alvaton; 15 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Services were held July 22, in the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home with Rev. Bobby Mullinax officiating. Interment Berea Cemetery in Hampton. Haisten Funeral Home, in charge of arrangements.

Linda Fay Schoonhoven Doster

Ms. Linda Fay Schoonhoven Doster, age 49, of Morrow, Georgia passed away July 18, 2008. Ms. Doster was born in Fulton County. She was known for her big heart and love for people, she was always there and opened her home to all children, she enjoyed her grandchildren, and writing poetry.

Survivors are fiancé, Michael Bagley of Morrow; children, Steven Doster of Morrow, Christy Taylor (Josh) of McDonough, Adam Doster and Amanda Doster of Morrow; parents, Jan and Jean Schoonhoven of Piedmont, Alabama; grandchildren, Austin Shubert, Matthew Doster, Eli Taylor and Noah Zellers; siblings, Brenda Mitchell of McDonough, Kathy Cross of Pullman, Washington, and Jerome Schoonhoven of Piedmont, Alabama.

Services for Ms. Doster were held July 22 in the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home with Rev. Michael White officiating. Interment Sherwood Memorial Park. Haisten Funeral Home, in charge of arrangements.

EASTANOLLEE, GA - Mr. Douglas M. Higginbotham, age 69, of Meadowbrook Drive, Eastanollee, died Tuesday, October 9, 2007, at his home. Born March 31, 1938 in Hart County, he was a son of the late Tyrus Talmadge and Hythan Bray Higginbotham, and had lived in Toccoa for the past 20 years. Mr. Higginbotham was a Metallurgical Engineer and a graduate of The University of Alabama. He retired from Old Castle Precast, Inc. and was a member and past president of The American Foundry Men's Society. He was a member of Grace Baptist Church and the Discipleship Sunday School Class and was a Deacon, former Sunday School Director, Sunday School Teacher and Usher. Family members include his wife, Jane Marriott Higginbotham of the home; three sons, Douglas Higginbotham, Jr. and his wife, Heidi, of Odenton, Maryland, Tyrus Higginbotham of Sugar Hill and Robert Higginbotham of Eastanollee; a sister-in-law, Pokey Sheffield of St. Simons Island; a niece, Susan Pierce of Lawrenceville; a nephew, Philip Sheffield of St. Simons Island. Also surviving are aunts, uncles, and cousins. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, October 13, 2007, at Grace Baptist Church with Dr. Bob Claytor and Rev. Joel Bradberry officiating. Burial will follow in Stephens Memorial Gardens. Gentlemen serving as pallbearers will be Bobby Alewine, Philip Sheffield, Bruce Bray, Brian Bray, Gene Crawford, Tony Presley, Glen Ongley, and Jim Bellamy. The family is at the home and will receive friends at the mortuary from 3-5 and 7-9 Friday afternoon and evening. Flowers or memorials to Grace Baptist Church Building Fund are optional. Whitlock Mortuary is in charge of the arrangements.

STONE MOUNTAIN, GA - Mr. Ervin Douglas Webb, 62 of Stone Mountain, Ga., died Monday, October 8, 2007 in Dekalb Medical Center in Decatur, Georgia. Survivors include his wife, Sara Webb, Father, Ervin I. Webb, Three daughters Michelle Webb of Lithonia, GA, Margo Webb of Stone Mountain, GA., Ayanna Webb of Decatur, GA., One son, Bryan Webb of Stone Mountain, GA., Three sisters, Teresa Williams of Pendleton, SC, Deborah (Marvin) Johnson of Durham, NC, Alicia (Anthony) Pierce of Durham, NC, One brother, Ronald Webb of Greenville, SC., He's also, survived by his first wife, Alma Myles Webb. Funeral services will be Saturday, October 13, 2007 at 2:00pm. At New Holly Light Missionary Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetary. CANON, GA - Farrell Keith Patterson, 53, of 1154 Jackson Bridge Road, Canon, GA passed away Tuesday afternoon, October 9, 2007, at his residence. Born May 17, 1954, in Franklin County, he was the son of the late James Edward and Geraldine Strickland Patterson. He was the brother of the late Betty Weaver. He was a machinist and had been employed by the Patterson Pump Company. He was an avid golfer, and was a tournament champion of horse shoes and pool. He was a 1972 graduate of Franklin County High School Survivors include: One son, Chad Patterson, of Canon, GA, One daughter, Jamie Patterson of Canon, GA, His companion, Paula Holmes, of Canon, GA, The mother of his children, Barbara J. Patterson of Canon, GA ; Two brothers, Gerald Patterson, Fort Myers, FL, Tim Patterson, Canon, GA; Five Sisters, Barbara Warren, Roswell, GA, Brenda Gable, Auburn, GA, Glenda Merten, Clarkesville, GA, Jennifer Bozeman, Auburn, GA, Kay Landrum, Martin, GA. Services will be 2pm Saturday at the Liberty Baptist Church, with the Rev. Todd West. Burial will be in the Franklin Memorial Gardens. The body is at the Ginn Funeral Home, Carnesville. The family is at the home. They will receive friends from 3 until 5pm and 7 until 9pm Friday evening at the funeral home.

ATLANTA, GA - Kenneth D. Brock, 52, of Atlanta, died Tuesday, October 9, 2007. He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Sheila E. Brock; daughter, Kelsey Cathryn Brock of Atlanta; mother, Mozelle Findley Brock of Anderson SC; sister and brother-in-law, Kathy and Robert Welborn of Rex, GA; Brother and sister-in-law, Marcus and Melissa Brock, of Anderson, nephews, Chris Brock of Anderson SC, Justin Welborn of Atlanta, and Aaron Welborn of St. Louis MO. A native of Anderson SC, Mr. Brock was a 1973 graduate of T. L. Hannah High School in Anderson. He received the rank of Eagle Scout. Mr. Brock received an A.A. from Anderson College and a B. S. from Baptist College in Charleston SC. He received a Respiratory Therapy degree from Medical University of South Carolina and later received a M. M. Sc. degree in Critical Care Medicine/Physicians Assistant at Emory University. He has worked at Emory for 21 years in the Pulmonary/Internal Medicine department. At Emory Hospital, Ken was highly respected for his mastery of medical knowledge, procedures and teaching skills. He was known not only for his medical expertise, but for his humor and rapport with patients and staff. He worked closely with interns, residents, physician assistants, students, and attending physicians. He will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by his wife and daughter, his family, his many colleagues, and friends. A memorial service will be at 2:00 P.M. Friday, October 12, 2007, at Glenn Memorial United Methodist Church with Chaplain Elwood Spackman officiating. Following the service, the family will receive friends at a reception at the church. TOCCOA, GA — Mrs. Deloris Kurtz Brock, 88, of Toccoa, died Friday, April 27, 2007, in the Bell Minor Home in Gainesville, GA.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday at the First Alliance Church of Toccoa. Burial will be in the Toccoa City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 12 Noon until the service time on Sunday afternoon.

ELBERTON, GA. - Harold Lee Addison,92, of Elberton died Thursday, April 26, 2007 at his home. Born in Stephens County, he was the son of the late Dorsey and Ida Andrews Addison. He was the retired owner and operator of Brad Hill Farm. He is survived by his wife of 69 years Laverne Kesler Addison; daughter, Marilyn Addison of Elberton; son and Daughter-n-law, Dean and Kathy Addison of Elberton; Two granddaughters Deana Moreno of Douglasville and Amy Rowland of Athens; one great-grandson Logan Addison Rowland of Athens. Funeral services will be Saturday, April 28, 2007 at 11:00 at the Chapel of Berry Funeral Home. Rev. Wesley Privett and Russell Moore officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hills Memorial Park, Elberton.
