FELTON LEA

Felton Lea, 88, of Henagar, Ala., died Jan. 26 in BMC-DeKalb in Fort Payne, Ala. He was born in Henagar, Ala., and was retired farmer and a member of the Chestnut Grove Baptist Church near Ider, Ala. Lea was preceded in death by his parents, Jasper and Ella Clark Lea; wife, Louise Lea; four brothers, Chester, Arley, Arvie, and Finis Lea. Survivors include: wife, Clemmie Lee Lea, Henagar, Ala.; son and daughter-in-law, James Russell and Gayle Lea, Henagar, Ala.; granddaughters, Kimberly Deakins and Kelly Haston; great-granddaughter, Kali Haston. Funeral services were held Jan. 27 in Kerby Funeral Home chapel with the Brother Melvin Slatton and the Brother Steve Lea officiating. Interment was in Mountain Home Cemetery in Ider, Ala. Arrangements were by Kerby Funeral Home in Henagar, Ala.

OSCAR NEELEY

Oscar Neeley, 76, of Sylvania, Ala., died Jan. 26 in a Huntsville hospital. Neeley was preceded in death by his wife, Juanita Neeley; parents, Wiley and Minnie Mae Neeley; brothers, Henry, Holace, Waymon, Harrison, Roy, Chester and Celaus Neeley. Survivors include: daughters and sons-in-law, Dianne and Laymond Willoughby, Sylvania, Ala., Barbara and R.A. Baugh, Henagar, Ala.; son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Mahala Neeley, Sylvania, Ala.; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Leona Maness, Section, Ala., Allie Mayhew, Illinois; special friend, Roberta Phillips, Flat Rock, Ala. Funeral services were held Jan. 28 in Corner Stone Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Doyle Shirey and the Rev. Jimmy Carson officiating. Interment was in Union Grove Cemetery. Arrangements were by Corner Stone Funeral Home in Ider, Ala.

ANGELINA NERI

Angelina Neri, 56, of Trenton died Jan. 19 in a local hospital. She was employed with Golden Gallon and was Catholic. Survivors include: special friend, Debra Kiser, Henagar, Ala.; two brothers, Joseph Neri, New York, and Nicholas Neri, Florida. A memorial service was held Jan. 21 in Moore Funeral Home Chapel with the Father Tom Marrette officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. Arrangements were by Moore Funeral Home in Trenton.

NELLIE PORTER

Nellie Wooten Porter, 79, of Trenton, died Jan. 28, in North Jackson Nursing Home in Bridgeport, Ala. Porter was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Porter; children, Linda Faye Porter, Wendell and J.D. Porter; parents, Ed and Nervie Wooten; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren. Survivors include: three daughters, Evelyn Tishaw, Trenton, Teresa Parham and Wanda Daniels, both of Henagar, Ala.; three sons, Thurman Porter, Bryant, Ala., Leon Porter and Arthell Johnson, boh of Higdon, Ala.; 19 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held today at 1 p.m. in Corner Stone Funeral Chapel with the Brother Aaron Britt officiating. Interment will follow in the Gil-Doc Cemetery. Arrangements were by Corner Stone Funeral Home in Ider, Ala.

EMMA RUE

Emma Dalton Bivens Eaton Rue, 90, of Trenton died Jan. 26 in a local hospital. She was a native of McMinn County, Tenn., spent most of her life in Chattanooga, and had lived the past five years in Trenton. She had worked at the Ross Hotel in Chattanooga, and was a member of Tennessee Wesleyan Methodist Church. Rue was preceded in death by her parents, John Dalton and Ida Johnson Dalton; two sons, Kenneth Calvin Bivens, James Robert Bivens; two brothers, Carl and Wilard Dalton; a sister, Lois Patterson. Survivors include: one son, Alvin Bivens, Granby, Mo.; one daughter and son-in-law, Helen and Pete Haggard, Ringgold; one sister, Arlie Coffee, Athens, Tenn.; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 17 great-great-grandchildren; two great-great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Graveside services were held Jan. 28, in Tennessee-Georgia Memorial Park with the Rev. Tom Davis officiating. Arrangements were by South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home in Rossville.

CARL WALLERS

Carl Leonard Wallers, Sr., 71, of Rossville died Jan. 23 at his residence. He was a native of Bridgeport, Ala., and a veteran of the Korean War. He was retired from Concrete Forms Corp. Wallers was preceded in death by his wife, Alpha Bell Wallers; son, Carl Leonard Wallers, Jr.; brother, James Wallers. Survivors include: two daughters, Diane Turley, Chattanooga, Bronda Sewell, Rossville; son, Charles Wallers, Rossville; two sisters, Martha and Virginia Higdon, both of Higdon, Ala.; one brother, Marvin Allen; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Jan. 26 in Lane Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Joe Dodd officiating. Interment was in Tennessee-Georgia Memorial Park. Arrangements were by South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home in Rossville.

WERTLEY BOYDSTON

Wertley Willard Boydston, 87, of Ider, Ala., died April 5 in Huntsville Hospital. He was a W.W. II veteran serving in the U.S. Army and retired from Combustion Engineering with 29 years of service. He served as deacon of Macedonia Primative Baptist Church since 1947. Boydston was preceded in death by his parents, Amon and Amanda Boydston; grandson, Bucky Lee Pounds and sisters, Edith Gann and Vera Abercrombie. Survivors include: Vernon Chapman Boydston; daughter, Gail Glass; grandson, Corey Glass, Huntsville, Ala.; six sisters, Tola Ott and Opella Smith, both of Ider, Ala., Flona Thornhill, Pisgah, Ala., Zula Jones, Chattanooga, Ivonene Thompson, Tunnel Hill, Girtha Lee Stoner, Birmingham, Ala.; brother, Hercial Boydston, Ider, Ala.; brother, Hercial Boydston, Ider, Ala. Funeral services were held April 8 in Corner Stone Chapel with the Elder Herbert Chapman and the Elder Jim McGill officiating. Interment was in Fuller Cemetery. Arrangements were by Corner Stone Funeral Home in Ider, Ala.

BOYD COLVARD

Boyd Victor Colvard, 85, of Trenton died April 6. He was retired from Eslinger Construction as a foreman. He was a veteran of W.W. II serving in the Air Force in the Pacific theatre. He was of the Methodist faith. Colvard was preceded in death by a daughter, Lorene "Sissie" Hedden. Survivors include: wife, Martha F. Colvard; daughter, Darlene Taylor; three grandchildren, Jill Taylor, Tommy Hedden, and Craig Taylor, all of Trenton; brother, Ronald Colvard, Andrews, N.C.; sister, Gladys Ensley, Andrews, N.C.; four great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held April 8 in Ryan Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Reese Fauscett officiating. Interment was in Lake Hills Memorial Gardens. Arrangements were by Ryan Funeral Home in Trenton.

NANCY HARRIS

Nancy Pearl Harris, 87, of Ider, Ala., died April 3 in Chattanooga. She was a member of the Ider Methodist Church and the Ider Eastern Star. Harris was preceded in death by her parents, John H. and Clara "Coforth" Bailey; husband, Clarence Harris; son, Charles Harris. Survivors include: sons and daughters-in-law, Gerald and Dale Harris, Henagar, Ala., Lloyd and Connis Harris, Fort Oglethorpe; daughter and son-in-law, Alta and Paul Norton, Flat Rock, Ala., seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held April 4 in Kerby Funeral Home Chapel with the Brother Jimmy Carl Ball officiating. Interment was in Fuller Cemetery in Ider, Ala. Arrangements were by Kerby Funeral Home in Henagar, Ala.

LARRY KNIGHT

Larry Wayne Knight, 39, of Chattanooga died April 2 in a local hospital. He was a lifelong resident of Chattanooga, he was a 1980 graduate of Lookout Valley High School where he played baseball and helped lead his team to the Single A State Championship in 1980. He was drafted out of high school by the Philadephia Phillies and also played for the Boston Red Sox. An avid sports enthusiast, Larry also enjoyed playing golf and coaching softball. Knight was preceded in death by his grandparents, J.W. and Mavie Lee Knight; one aunt and several uncles. Survivors include: wife of 18 years, Vanessa Chumley Knight, Chattanooga; daughter, Keeli Knight; father and step-mother, William D. and Patricia Knight, Chattanooga; mother and step-father, Joyce Sue and Willard Harris, Trenton; brother, William Todd Knight, Chattanooga; grandparents, V.J. and Elora Lamberth, Trenton; several aunts, uncles, nieces and cousins. Funeral services were held April 5 in South Crest Chapel with the Rev. Billy Dean officiating. Contributions can be made to a trust fund that has been established for Keeli Knight at AmSouth Bank, 3303 Cummings Highway in Lookout Valley. Arrangements were by South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home in Rossville.

BENNY PATTON

Benny "Bim" Patton, 71, of Trenton died April 7. He was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church for 42 years. He was a deacon and Sunday school teacher for 40 years. Patton was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. W.D. and Bertha Patton; two brothers, Dub and Jack Patton. Survivors include: wife, Faye Patton, Trenton; daughter, Anita Gritton, Urbana, Ill.; two sons, Benny Patton, Jr. and Stephen Patton, both of Trenton; two sisters, Marie Williams, Hixson, Tenn., Betty Palmer, Trenton; aunt, Inez Wilson, Rainsville, Ala.; eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held April 9 in Ryan Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. A.C. Durham and the Rev. Gary Gritton officiating. Interment was in Lake Hills Memorial Gardens. Arrangements were by Ryan Funeral Home in Trenton.

JUNIOR STRICKLAND

Junior Strickland, 67, of Henagar, Ala., died April 7 in Huntsville, Ala. He was a member of the Henagar Baptist Church. He was born in Marshall County, Ala., and was a mason and veteran of the U.S. Army. Strickland was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond Lee Strickland, Sr. and Ruby Norene Terrell Srtickland. Survivors include: son and daughter-in-law, Shane and Cindy Strickland, Scottsboro, Ala.; daughter and son-in-law, Angela and Ronald Cushen, Valley Head, Ala.; four brothers, Dean Strickland, Boaz, Ala., Thomas Strickland, Birmingham, Ala., Johnny Strickland, Albertville, Ala., Glenn Strickland, Geraldine, Ala.; four sisters, Mavis Guest, Martha Cannady, Patricia Maddux, all of Albertville, Ala., Cyndy Smith, Geraldine, Ala.; grandchildren, Jared, Jake and Joy Cushen, Braden and Chelsey Moore. Funeral services were held April 9 in Kerby Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Joey Cannady and the Rev. Jimmy Shankles officiating. Interment was in Geraldine Cemetery in Geraldine, Ala. Arrangements were by Kerby Funeral Home in Henagar, Ala.

JAMES USRY

James Morris Usry, 70, of Red Bank, Tenn., died April 3. He formerly owned and operated Usry Auto Repair in Red Bank, was retired from Koering Southern and served in the U.S. Army. Usry was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Nellie Usry; two brothers, Thomas "Bud" Usry and Jack Usry. Survivors include: two sons, Michael Usry, Red Bank, Tenn., James Usry, Jr., Signal Mountain, Tenn.; two brothers, Carl Usry and Robert "Bob" Usry, both of Trenton; four sisters, Elizabeth Beene, Trion, Billy Ruth Murphy, Rossville, Wynell Saylors, Chattanooga, Margaret Smith, Trenton; seven grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held April 6 in Trenton Chapel of Moore Funeral Home with the Rev. David Brown officiating. Interment was in Trenton Baptist Cemetery. Arrangements were by Moore Funeral Home in Trenton.

JEROLINE GATLIN

Jeroline Elizabeth Gatlin, 76, of Fort Oglethorpe died May 23 in a local hospital. She was a native of Rising Fawn, she was formerly employed at Brock Candy Company and was a member of the Rising Fawn Baptist Church. Gatlin was preceded in death by her husband, C.M. Gatlin. Survivors include: sister, Beatrice Williams, Fort Oglethorpe; brother, George Castleberry, Rossville; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held May 25 in Moore Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Don Moreland and the Rev. Billy Wallace officiating. Interment was in Head Springs Cemetery. Arrangements were by Moore Funeral Home in Trenton.

MAULINE HALE

Mauline Morrison Hale, 87, of Trenton, died May 25. She was a member of the Trenton United Methodist Church where she was the pianist for many years. She was a member of the Fellowship Sunday School Class and United Methodist Women, The Christian Women's Club in Chattanooga and the "700" Club. She was one of the first women from Dade County to serve as a Gray Lady at the Tri-County Hospital, now known as the Hutcheson Medical Center. Hale was preceded in death by her husband, Maddox J. Hale, Speaker Pro Tem of the Georgia House of Representatives; parents, Grace Austin Morrison and William Franklin Morrison; two sisters, Rowena M. Broome, Chickamauga, Lucille Weathers, Kissimmee, Fla.; brother, Charles F. Morrison, Marietta. Survivors include: sister, Martha M. Henderson, Columbia, S.C.; brother, James "Jim" Morrison, Trenton; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held May 28 in Ryan Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Reese Fauscett and the Rev. Brian Broome officiating. Interment was in Lake Hills Memorial Gardens. Contributions can be made to Trenton United Methodist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 6, Trenton, Ga. 30752. Arrangements were by Ryan Funeral Home in Trenton.

JOHNNY LAMBERT

Johnny Lambert, 80, of Flat Rock, Ala., died May 25. He was a World War II veteran serving in the U.S. Army Air Corp. He formed and operated Lambert and Sons Construction Company before retiring. Lambert was preceded in death by his parents, John and Claudia Lambert; wife, Imogene Cox Lambert; brother, Lamar Lambert; sister, Aline Shepherd. Survivors include: sons and daughters-in-law, Rick and Pam Lambert, Talley "Bucky" and Nora Lambert; two daughters, Yvonne Bush and Barbara Jo Lambert, both of Flat Rock, Ala.; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Geraldine Smith, High Point, Claudine Bowen, Flat Rock, Ala.; brother, Sherman Lambert, Waverly Hall. Funeral Services were held May 27, in Corner Stone Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Charles Smith officiating. Interment was in Pine Haven Memorial Garden in Hollywood, Ala. Arrangements were by Corner Stone Funeral Home in Ider, Ala.

A.V. Morgan, Jr., 58, of Trenton formerly of Albertville, Ala., died May 17 at his residence. Survivors include: wife, Linda Morgan, Trenton; two sons, Myron Morgan, Rising Fawn, Corey Morgan, Bryant, Ala.; two daughters, Stacey Hicks, Tonya Morgan, both of Trenton; mother, Elsie Helton, Albertville, Ala.; one brother, Brother Ken Morgan, Rainsville, Ala.; two sisters, Judy Harper and Sandra Roe, both of Albertville, Ala.; 13 grandchildren; chosen son, Eric Young, Trenton; chosen daughter, Kristy Kernea, Trenton. Stanley D. Richey, 47, of Bryant, Ala., died May 21 at his residence. He was of the Baptist faith. Richey was preceded in death by his father, George W. Richey; a brother, George W. Richey, Jr. Survivors include: wife, Chris Richey, Chattanooga, Tenn.; two daughters, Sarah Tulian and Laura Richey, both of Chicago, Ill.; one son, Jason Richey, Chicago, Ill.; mother, Claudia Richey, Bryant, Ala.; sister, Rita Blevins, Flat Rock, Ala.; two brothers, Roger Richey, Mansfield, Texas, Charles Richey, Chattanooga, Tenn.; one granddaughter, Destiny Richey, Chicago, Ill.; several nieces and nephews. Ivan "Don" Sarrell, 68, of New Salem, died May 25. He was a member of the New Salem United Methodist Church. He was an Electrical Engineer with several U.S. Patents, banjo maker, and two time Old Time Banjo Champion, and at one time National Champion, five time Multi-State Champion. He was a board member of The Mountain Opry in Waldens Ridge, Tenn.. Survivors include: wife, Cynthia Sarrell, New Salem; two sons, Andrew Sarrell, Hixson, Tenn. and Brian Sarrell, New Salem; two grandchildren; nine nieces and nephews; one sister. Graveside services were held May 28 at Hawkins Cemetery with the Rev. M.C. Tolbert officiating. Contributions may be made to New Salem United Methodist Church Building Fund, 12550 Highway 136, Rising Fawn, Ga. 30738 and the Mountain Opry. Arrangements were by Ryan Funeral Home in Trenton.

MADALINE TAIT

Madaline Louise (Maggie) Tait, 69, of Bryant, Ala., died May 22, at her home. She was a former resident of Macomb, Ill., and was retired from Zeta Comsumer Products. Tait was preceded in death by two sisters, Gerry Foliver and Betty Tripp. Survivors include: four daughters, Lynda Tait Elledge, San Diego, Calif., Sandra Tait, Friday Harbor, Wash., Vickie Taft, Tennessee, Ill., Jeri Jay Tait Gilbert, Bryant, Ala.; two sons, Bob Tait, Macomb, Ill., Lee Tait, Peoria, Ill.; daughter-in-law, Vicki Tait; two sons-in-law, Mark Taft and Davy Gilbert; brother, Harold Wilcox, Glenburn, Maine; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held May 26 in Moore Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Steve Camp officiating. Arrangements were by Moore Funeral Home in Bryant, Ala.

CLIFFORD WEATHERS

Clifford Weathers, 86, of Rossville, died May 23, at East Ridge Hospital. He was a World War II veteran having served in the U.S. Army and retired from Chattanooga Stove Company. Weathers was preceded in death by his wife, Estel Weathers. Survivors include: sister, Cleo Knipp, Mansfield, Ohio; 27 foster children they raised, which included, Dianna West, Susan Wilborne and Sherry Pell, Rossville, Waymon Howard, Florida and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held May 26 in Pilgrim's Home Church with the Rev. Rayford Brown, the Rev. Rodney Kinsey and the Rev. Billy Vineyard officiating. Interment was in Pilgrim's Home Cemetery. Arrangements were by Corner Stone Funeral Home in Ider, Ala.

Jewell Delora White, 84, of Sumiton, Ala., formerly of Rosalie, Ala., died May 25, in Gardendale Nursing Home in Gardendale, Ala. She was a mamber of Pilgrim's Home Baptist Church in Ider, Ala. White was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Mary Phillips Thurmond; husband, Willard White; daughter, Barbara Chaney; three sisters, Wilma Thomas, Alice Smith and Annette Rogers; son, Billy Ray White; four brothers, Cecil, Floyd, Junior and Elbert Thurmond. Survivors include: two sons, Wayne White, Flat Rock, Ala., Ricky White, Fort Payne, Ala.; four daughters, Ruth Owens, Sumiton, Ala., Shirley Smith, Trenton, Jimmie Durham, Henagar, Ala., Christine Tinker, Bryant, Ala.; sister, Vida Scogins, Atlanta; 32 grandchildren. Funeral services were held May 27 in Kerby Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Rick Peterson and the Rev. Bud Laney officiating. Interment was in New Hope Cemetery in Rosalie, Ala. Arrangements were by Kerby Funeral Home in Henagar, Ala.
