LINCOLNTON, Ga.- Mr. Scott A. Castillo, 31, of Thomson Hwy. died Feb. 16, 2004 at his residence.
Graveside services were held Thursday, Feb. 19 at 3 p.m., at Jennings Baptist Cemetery, Crawfordville, Ga.

Mr Castillo had lived in Lincolnton most of his life. He was an employee of Mattison and Associates as a surveyor's assistant.

Survivors are his mother, Connie McMcDaniel Rohers, Washington; brother, Hubert Shelton, Orlando, Steve McCree; sister, Bonnie Flanagan, Rockwell, N.C., Donna Shelton, Thomson, Sherril Collier, Augusta.

Beggs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Linda Henslee Kohler
COLUMBUS, Neb.- Entered into rest Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2004, at the Bryan West Medical Hospital, Columbus, Neb. Mrs. Linda Henslee Kohler, 62, wife of Mr. William "Bill" Kohler of Columbus, Neb.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 22, 2004, at the Starling Funeral Home, Harlem, Ga. Interment in Westview Cemetery, Thomson, Ga.

Mrs. Kohler, a native of Thomson, was employed by the Commerce Bank of Oklahoma. She was a former employee of the Medical Lodge in Missouri, and was a member of the Mesena Methodist Church.

In addition to her husband, survivors include two daughters, Debra Clinesmith, Independence, Kansas, and Jennifer Kohler, Commerce, Okla.; one son, Tim Kohler, Springfield, Mo.; four sisters, Louise Reeves, Dearing, Betty Simons, Mesena; Jane Mather, Augusta, and Frances Reed, Avery; and four grandchildren, Zachary Hart, Dustin Hart, Stevie Hart, and Alex, Kohler; and several nieces and nephews; and her cat, Shadow.

Pallbearers were Roy Reeves, Ray Reeves, David Williams, David Simons, Al Reeves, and Mark Higdon.

If so desired, memorials may be made to the Mesena Methodist Church, c/o Reta Johnson, PO Box 428, Mesena, Ga. 30819.

Starling Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Bruce W. McGhee
Automotive Electrician
DEARING, Ga.- Mr. Bruce W. McGhee, 67, beloved husband of Mrs. Joyce R. McGhee, of Culbreth Road, Dearing, died Saturday, Feb. 21, 2004, in Doctors Hospital.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Mr. McGhee was a native of East Pairie, Missouri, but had lived in Dearing for many years. He was a retired Automotive Electrician. He was an Army veteran and a Protestant. The family said he was a good husband, father and grandfather.

He was preceded in death by a son, Mr. Garry McGhee.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce R. McGhee, Dearing; a son, Mr. William Mark McGhee, Dearing; a sister, Nona McClellan, Martinez; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Curtis Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Gladys L. Parker
DEARING, Ga.- Entered into rest Monday, Feb. 16, 2004, at the McDuffie Regional Medical Center, Thomson, Ga. Mrs. Gladys L. Parker, 91, of Langham Road, Dearing.
Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 20, 2004, in the Harlem Memorial Cemetery with the Rev. Robert Reese officiating.

Mrs. Parker, a native of McDuffie County, was a member of the Dearing United Methodist Church.

Survivors include one nephew and two nieces.

If so desired, memorials may be made to the Dearing United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 187, Dearing, Ga. 30808.

Starling Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Ms. Shirley Jean Pilgrim
Retired Nurse
AUGUSTA, Ga.- Ms. Shirley Jean Pilgrim, age 67, of Broad Street, Augusta entered into rest Feb. 17, 2004 at University Hospital.
Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 20, 2004 at Westview Cemetery, Thomson Ga. with David Jones and Warren Bowman officiating.

Ms. Pilgrim was a native of Warren County and a retired nurse. She was a Baptist.

Survivors include two sons Rodney E. (Robin) Jones of Newland, N.C., and David B. (Jane) Jones, North Augusta, S.C.; one brother Bill Pilgrim of Augusta, one sister Betty P. Allen, Thomson; 11 grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

A brother, Charles Pilgrim, preceded her in death.

Lowe Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. David Shelton
Retired mechanic supervisor
THOMSON, Ga.- Mr. David Shelton of County Line Road, Thomson, entered into rest Feb. 17, 2004.
He was the beloved husband of Janelle Black Shelton for 48 years. Survivors include wife, Janelle Black Shelton, Thomson; sons, Ronnie Shelton (Janet), Thomson, Dwight Shelton (Donna), Thomson; brother, Moses Shelton, Wrens; sister, Mildred Coxwell, Wrens; four grandchildren, Clint Borders, D'Ann Shelton, Danny Shelton and Dawn Shelton.

Mr. Shelton was born in Glascock County but lived in the Columbia and McDuffie County area most of his life. He was retired as a Mechanic Supervisor after 38 years with Thomson Company. Mr. Shelton was also a member of Hill Baptist Church.

Funeral services were held at 3 p.m., Friday, Feb. 20, 2004, at the Beggs Funeral Home Chapel with his son, Rev. Ronnie Shelton officiating. Interment was in Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers were Abe Shelton, Roger Coxwell, Billy Wiilliford, Randy Black, Tony Black, and Thomas Shelton.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Gideons' International, P.O. Box 1773, Thomson, GA, 30824.

Mr. Robert Lee Sturkey
THOMSON, Ga.- Mr. Robert Lee Sturkey, 54, of Sturkey Lane, died Monday, Feb. 16, 2004, in the McDuffie Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 19, in the Curtis Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Reginald Blakewood officiating. Burial was in the Pine Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mr. Sturkey was a native of McDuffie County. He worked at the Thomson Company for many years as a Cutter.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary and Fonzie Sturkey and his only child, a daughter, Kellie Sturkey.

He is survived by five sisters, Mary Langham and husband Bunyan, Gladys Keller, Kathleen Morris and Hester, Agnes Brooks and husband Max and Rita Treadwell; four brothers, Buck Sturkey, Bobby Sturkey, Billie Sturkey and David (Bud) Sturkey; many nephews and nieces; one god-child, Michael Wade Jackson.

Pallbearers were Johnney Keller, Floyd Brooks, Anthony Treadwell, James (Buster) Langham, Benji Sturkey and Adam Sturkey. Curtis Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Ms. Donna Thomas
THOMSON, Ga.- Ms. Donna Thomas, 69, daughter of the Late Roy and Lillian Thomas, of Mesena Road, died Monday, Feb. 23, 2004, at her residence.
Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 24, in the Curtis Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mike Sutphin officiating. Burial was in Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens.

Ms. Thomas was a native of Dierks, Ark., but had lived in Thomson for many years. She was a Baptist.

Survivors include two brothers, Bill Thomas and Joe Thomas, both of Thomson; several nieces and nephews and three caregivers, Deborah Wilson, Ola Ivey, and Virginia Hill.

Curtis Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Ronald J. Whitaker
Retired Foreman
DEARING, Ga.- Mr. Ronald J. Whitaker, 59, of 1345 Randall-Hunt Road, SE, Dearing, entered into rest Feb. 23, 2004 at University Hospital.
He was the beloved husband of Ann B. Whitaker and son of the late James F. Whitaker and Rachel Crowell Whitaker. Survivors include: his wife, Ann B. Whitaker, Dearing; daughter, Carey W. Dougherty, Augusta; mother, Rachel C. Whitaker, Thomson; brother, James F. "Jimmy" Whitaker, Thomson; sisters, Christine Taylor and Carolyn Brewer both of Thomson.

Mr. Whitaker lived in the Harlem-Thomson area most of his life and was a Methodist. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era and was a retired foreman with APAC Road Construction Company.

Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2004 at Westview Cemetery with Rev. Bruce Poss officiating.

Mr. Donald Franklin Williams, Sr.
Retired Construction Worker
THOMSON, Ga.- Mr. Donald Franklin Williams, Sr., 60, of Bussey Ave., Thomson, entered into rest Feb. 19, 2004 at Doctor's Hospital.
He was the beloved husband of Virginia A. Williams. Survivors include his wife, Virginia A. Williams, Thomson; son, Donald F. Williams, Jr., Thomson, and sister, Joan W. Crook, Lincolnton.

Mr. Williams was son of the late Elbert Bland Williams and the late Frances Elizabeth Poss Williams.

He was a resident of McDuffie County and a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church in Bath, S.C. Mr. Williams served in the U.S. Navy and was retired from construction work.

Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, 2004 at Pine Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Bath, S.C. with Rev. Wade Palmer officiating.

Beggs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Hattie Mae Beaufort
DEARING, Ga. - Entered into rest Friday Feb. 13, 2004, Mrs. Hattie Mae Beaufort, 66, wife of Mr. Timothy Beaufort of Larkin Road, Dearing.
Funeral services were held Sunday, Feb. 15, 2004 at 2 p.m., at the Starling Funeral Home with the Rev. Jerry Morris, Sr. officiating. Interment was in Bellevue Memorial Gardens near Grovetown.

Mrs. Beaufort was born in Fairmont, NC, and was a homemaker.

In addition to her husband she is survived by one son and daughter-in-law David and Rhonda Skipper, Dunn, NC; two daughters, Patricia Skipper and fiance Ron Litteral, and Patty and Thomas Maxwell, Thomson; two sisters, Lillie Rose Parnell, Hope Mills, NC, and Ann Welch, Gary, Indiana; and 17 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Tommie Skipper, B.L. Treadwell, Willie Grant, Bill Anderson, Mikey Hinton, and Ray Hawkins.
