Mrs. Dorothy Logan
THOMSON, Ga.- Funeral services for Mrs. Dorothy Logan of Pine Lane, Thomson, were held Monday, Feb. 2, 2004 at 2 p.m. at the Springfield Baptist Church, with Rev. Henderson Roberson, Jr. officiating. Interment was in the First Mt. Carmel Baptist Church Cemetery, Winfield.
Mrs. Logan was a native of Greenwood, Miss., and had lived in Thomson for many years where she taught in the McDuffie County School System and retired after 31 years. She was a graduate of Tuskegee Institute where she received a B.S. degree in Elementary Education. She obtained a Special Education degree from South Carolina State University.

Survivors are three sons, Wendell (Betty) Logan, Oberlin, OH, Alvin Logan, Thomson, Ga., and Howard (Mona) Logan, Dallas, Tex.,; one sister; one brother, several grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Thomson Funeral System was in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Wesley Hugh "Jimbo" McNeely

DEARING, Ga. - Entered into rest Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2004, at the Medical College of Georgia, Mr. Wesley Hugh 'Jimbo' McNeely, 77, husband of the late Mrs. Elizabeth Smith McNeely. Funeral services were private.
Mr. McNeely, a native of Richmond County, was retired from the Graniteville Company. Survivors include one son Bobby McNeely, North Augusta; one daughter, Brenda Black, Martinez; four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Starling Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Robert Harris (Bobby) Quinn
Retired Farmer
NORWOOD, Ga.- Mr. Robert Harris (Bobby) Quinn, 67, of Cecil Dye Road, beloved husband of Mary Anne Bacon Quinn, entered into rest Monday, Jan. 26, 2004 at University Hospital, Augusta.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Jan. 29, 2004 at Norwood Baptist Church with Revs. Robert Riley and Donnie Bazal officiating. Burial was in the Williams Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mr. Quinn was a native of Richmond County, but a lifelong resident of Warren County.

His parents were the late James Frank Quinn and Helen Harris Quinn. He was a member of Norwood Baptist Church for 45 years; a member of Crawfordville Masonic Lodge; and a retired farmer.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Anne Bacon Quinn; a son, Grant B. Quinn of Norwood; a daughter, Kim Q. (Chris) Mohr of Thomson; a sister, Doris Quinn (Jimmy) Jenkins of Norwood; and four grandchildren: Garret, Harrison, Quinn, and Chapman Mohr all of Thomson. A son, Robert Harris Quinn preceded him in death.

Pallbearers were David Usry, Charles Shivers, Guy Shivers, Floyd Williams, Alton Gheesling, Grady Moore, Jimmy Cranford, Mike Johnson, Lloyd Kelley and Jackie Bazal.

Memorials may be made to Williams Creek Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, C/O Margaret Wilde, 4378 Firetower Rd., Norwood Ga. 30821.

Mrs. Beulah Montgomery Richards
THOMSON, Ga.- Mrs. Beulah Montgomery Richards, 94, widow of Mr. Waverly "Lefty" Richards, of Central Road, died Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2004, at University Hospital.
Funeral services were Saturday, Jan. 31, in the Curtis Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Leo Carpenter and Dr. Randy Dunaway Officiating. Burial was in Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Richards was a native of McDuffie County. She was retired from the Thomson Company. She was a member of the Salem United Methodist Church, where she was the oldest member.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in law, Shirley and Albert Homesley, Thomson; a granddaughter and friend, Tina Homesley and Mark Ruprecht, of Michigan; and a great-granddaughter, Erica Bednarski, Michigan; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Paul McNair, J.C. Langham, Seth Mason, David Hobbs, Jimmy Jones, Lamar Massey, James Freeman and Kenny May.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Salem United Methodist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 484, Thomson, Ga. 30824.

Mrs. Betty Elizabeth Dallas Murray Spann
ATLANTA, Ga.- Mrs. Betty Elizabeth Dallas Murray Spann, 68, of Atlanta, died Saturday Jan. 24, 2004 in Atlanta.
Graveside services were held Wednesday at 12 noon, January 28, 2004 at Aiken Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Spann was a native of Aiken, S.C. and was a homemaker. Survivors include her husband, Roy Thomas Spann; one son, Ray Spann of Conyers; four sisters, Norma Jean Deicke, Aberdeen, Md., Jaunita Murray, Tina Tillman both of Thomson, Betty Murray, Edgefield; one brother, J.W. (Bobby) Murray, North Augusta and two grandchildren.

Mrs. Mary P. Johnson
McDONOUGH, Ga. - Mrs. Mary P. Johnson of McDonough, passed away Jan. 19, 2004.
She is survived by daughter, Betty Jo Clark; granddaughter, Cheryl and Greg Benton; great-grandchildren, Abbey, Allie and Scott, all of McDonough; one sister, Mardrie Toole; brother, Enon Thompson, North Augusta, SC; brother, E.D. Thompson, Thomson.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2 p.m. from Ward's Fairview Chapel. Rev. Michael Johns and Rev. Ron Capes officiated and interment was in Fairview Memorial Gardens.

Contributions may be made to the Mt. Zion Choir c/o Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, Panola Rd., Ellenwood, 30294.

Mr. George Wiley
WARRENTON, S.C.- Mr. George Wiley, beloved husband of Bunny Wiley, died Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2004, at Doctors Hospital.
Funeral services were held 3 p.m. Friday, Jan. 23, in Warrenton First Baptist Church, with Rev. Rob Bray officiating. Burial was at Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Wiley was a retired car dealership owner and a WW II veteran of the Army Air Corps. He was a member of Warrenton First Baptist.

Survivors include his wife, Bunny Wiley; two daughters, Mary Ann Wiley Askew, Rome and Gail Wiley Jones, Augusta; a stepdaughter, Tracy Bankston; five grandchildren, Edgely Askew, Rome, Wiley Jones, J.P. Jones, Abby Jones, all of Augusta and Brooke Tata, Eatonton; one brother, J.T. Wiley, Thomson; sister, Elizabeth Wiley Johnson, Thomson; and numerous nieces and nephews and a world of friends.

In lieu of flowers send memorials to Warrenton First Baptist Church.

Miss Sarah Christen Renfro
APPLING, Ga.- Miss Sarah Christen Renfro, 16, loving daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles E. and Pamela Renfro IV, died Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2004.
Funeral services were at 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 23, in Sharon Baptist Church. Burial was in the church cemetery.

A native of Appling, Miss Renfro was a student at Augusta Christian School and a member of Sharon Baptist Church.

Survivors include her parents, Charles E. and Pamela Paschal Renfro IV; brothers, Charles E. Renfro V, William J. Renfro, both of Appling; maternal grandparents, William and Odell Paschal, Appling; fraternal grandparents, Charles and Mary Renfro III, Appling; several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

In lieu of flowers the family request donations to Sharon Baptist Church Mission or Youth Funds.

Mr. John Joseph Murphey

WARRENTON, Ga.- Mr. John Joseph Murphey, 79, of Warrenton, beloved husband of Louise Murphey, died Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2004, at the VA Medical Center.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Jan. 24, at Little Brier Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Bill Seaman officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Mr. Murphey, a native of Richmond County, had lived in Warrenton for many years. He was a WWII Navy Veteran and of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his wife, Louise Murphey; three daughters, Dixie and Jon Wiederanders, Jacqueline and Bob Zets, and Thora Peebles, all of Warrenton; a son, Terry and Brenda Murphey, Dearing; two sisters, Lucile Grover, Interlachen, Fla. and Mildred Campbell, Laurel, Md.; two brothers, Tom Murphey, Augusta and C.P. (Pete) Murphey, Norwood, and four granddaughters.

Pallbearers were Otis Freeman, Dennis Havens, David Hicks, Brent Murphey, Pete Murphey, and Jason Walker.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Little Brier Creek Baptist Church, care of Julia Massey, 3580 Mt. Pleasant Rd., Thomson, Ga. 30824 or your favorite charity. Curtis Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Carl Scott Hopkins
Retired Funeral Director
WASHINGTON, Ga.- Mr. Carl Scott Hopkins, 89, of E. Robert Toombs Ave., entered into rest Sunday, Jan. 24, at University Hospital.
Mr. Hopkins was a native of Wilkes County and had lived there all of his life. He was twice married, first to the late Kathryn Johnson Hopkins and then to Pauline Henderson Hopkins. He was the son of the late Albert Hudson Hopkins and Lucy Scott Hopkins. He was a past member and president of the Lion's Club, a Deacon at the Washington First Baptist Church, where he was a member and a past city council member in Washington.

He was the founder and owner of Hopkins Funeral Home, founded in 1952. He was a former member of the Ga. Funeral Directors Association, and was a 52 year member of Lafayette Masonic Lodge #23. He served in the Civilian Conservation Corp in Robertstown.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Jan. 27, at 2 p.m. at the Washington First Baptist Church with Rev. Albert Huyck and Rev. Chris Townsend officiating. Burial was in the Resthaven Cemetery.

He is survived by one daughter, Susan H. Pope, of Washington; two sons, Gene Hopkins and Billy Hopkins, both of Washington; one step-daughter, Kathy Poss of Elberton; one sister, Lucy Nell Gill, of Lavonia; two brothers, Vernon W. Hopkins, of Washington and Hudson Hopkins, of Thomson; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to "Together We Build" at the Washington First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 603, Washington, Ga. 30673, or to the charity of your choice.

Mr. David Norris
THOMSON, Ga.- Mr. David Norris, 51, husband of Mrs. Dianne O. Norris, of Heckle St., died Saturday, Jan. 24, 2004, in the University Hospital.
Funeral services were Tuesday, Jan. 27, in the New Hope Baptist Church with Rev. Allen Holbrook officiating. Burial was in Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Norris was a native of McDuffie County. He was a salesman and a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Dianne Oliphant Norris, Thomson; his daughter, Whitney Norris, Thomson; his son, Zach Norris, Thomson; his step-son, Alan Oliphant, Augusta; a sister, Beth Broome, Thomson; and a brother, Bobby Norris, Columbia, S.C. Pallbearers were Gary McGahee, David Broome, Billy Luke, Garrison Norris, Butch Norris and Rusty Tisdale.

Mr. Kenneth William Rockefeller
GROVETOWN, Ga.- Entered into rest Saturday, Jan. 24, 2004, at Doctors Hospital in Augusta, Mr. Kenneth William Rockefeller, 53, of Old Thomson Road, Grovetown.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2004, at the Harlem United Methodist Church, with the Revs. Roger Vest and Jerry Rockefeller officiating.

Mr. Rockefeller, a native of Keokuk, Iowa, was an Army Veteran. He was a member of Grove Baptist Church.

Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Joshua Lee and Andrea Rockefeller, Harlem; his mother, Vera Rockefeller; three brothers, Jerry and Phyllis Rockefeller, Dearing, Tom Rockefeller, Winfield, and Diana and Tom Dees, Harlem; and two grandsons, Joshua C. and Austin Rockefeller; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Eli Rockefeller.

Starling Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
