Sister Penny Mae Hill
THOMSON, Ga.- Homegoing celebration for Sister Penny Mae Hill, 99, of Old Washington Road, Thomson was held on Friday, November 5, 2004 at 2 p.m. at the United House of Prayer for All People, Dearing, St. Elder, W.P. Scott, officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery.
Survivors are one son, Mr. Royce Hill of Thomson; four daughters, Mrs. Lizzie Huff, Ms. Bernice Hill, Mrs. Queenie Caesar and Mrs. Rossie (Robert) Lewis all of Thomson; one sister, Mrs. Emma Hobbs of Augusta; two daughters-in-law, Mrs. Connie Hill of Thomson, Ga. and Mrs. Ethel Hill of Charleston, S.C.; two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Dorothy Wilkins of Thomson and Mrs. Effie Wilkins of Cleveland, Ohio; five generations of grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. The repast was held in the church cafeteria.

Thomson Funeral System was in charge of arrangements.

Ms. Barbara Lowe
THOMSON, Ga.- Homegoing celebration for Ms. Barbara Lowe of Thomson, was held Friday, November 5, 2004, at 11 a.m. at White Oak Grove Baptist Church.
Mrs. Lowe is survived by three children; Cynthia Lowe of Warrenton; Angela Lowe and Melvin T. Lowe of Thomson, one grandson Demetrius Lowe of Thomson, a loving and devoted mother, Mrs. Luna Dean Lowe of Thomson, sisters, Clemenette Bentley and Willie Mae Lowe, Brothers; James (Marie) Lowe, Rogers Lowe all of Thomson; several nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

Mr. Johnny Edward Morgan
THOMSON, Ga.- Funeral service for Mr. Johnny Edward Morgan, 47 of Knox St., Thomson, were held Wednesday, November 3, 2004 at 3 p.m. at the First Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, Winfield, Rev. Roscoe Perry, Pastor, officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery.
Survivors are a very devoted friend, Mrs. Bobbie Mayes, Thomson, mother, Mrs. Marie Morgan, Dearing, one son, Edward Morgan, Jr., Norwood, three brothers, Alton Lee Morgan, Dearing, Simon Lee Morgan, Thomson and Johnny B. Horton, Norwood, one sister, Valerie Kitchens, other relatives and friends.

Thomson Funeral System was in charge of arrangements.

Richard L. Neal Sr.
HARLEM, Ga.- Richard L. Neal Sr., Owner of Neal's Restaurant Harlem, Ga., entered into rest November 1, 2004 at the Medical College of Georgia.
Mr. Neal, 76, was the husband of Catherine Rabun Neal of Harlem.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, November 4, 2004, at Starling Funeral Home, Harlem, Ga., with Dr. Ron Drawdy officiating. Interment was in the Neal Family Cemetery, Dearing.

Pallbearers were Vic Higdon, Richard Neal III, Neal Reeves, Joe Ray Clark, Keith Edmunds and Buck Ansley. Honorary Pallbearers were employees of Neal's Restaurant.

Starling Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Margaret McCorkle Beckum

THOMSON, Ga.- Mrs. Margaret McCorkle Beckum died Saturday, October 30 , 2004, at her residence.
Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, October 31, in the Westview Cemetery with Dr. George Freeman officiating.

Mrs. Beckum, a native and lifelong resident of McDuffie County, was the wife of the late Warren C. Beckum and the daughter of the late Sam W. and Kate S. McCorkle. She retired as auditor of First National Bank of Thomson after 32 years of service and was a member of Thomson First United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Woodmen of the World.

She is survived by her sister, Mrs. Whaldean M. Brunson, Thomson; and four sweet, kind and loving caregivers, Flory McNair, Ola Ivey, Virginia Hill and Kathy Stallworth.

Mr. John Alva Bridges, Jr.
THOMSON, Ga.- Mr. John Alva Bridges, Jr., 63, beloved husband of Catherine Bridges of Bivins, Texas, formerly of Thomson, died Sunday, Oct. 31, 2004.
Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 2, in the Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens with Dr. Jim Ramsey officiating.

A native of Washington, Mr. Bridges moved to Thomson at an early age and graduated from Thomson High School and the Georgia Military College in Milledgeville. He was the Bureau Chief for Bowie County Life of the Texarkana Gazette. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Waycross and the Masonic Lodge No. 305 in Waycross.

He is survived by his wife, Catherine Bridges, Bivins, Texas; two sons and daughters-in-law, John Alva and Kamela Bridges, III, Austin, Texas, and George Stubbs and Eunice Bridges, Alexandria, VA; two grandsons, Jacob Andrew Bridges and Joseph Henry Bridges, both of Austin, Texas; and one brother, James M. Bridges, Thomson.

Curtis Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Lula Mae Crawford Cummings
THOMSON, Ga.- Funeral services for Mrs. Lula Mae Crawford Cummings, 87, of Thomson, were held on Saturday, October 30, 2004 at 1 p.m. at the First Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, Winfield. Rev. Roscoe Perry, officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Cummings was a Columbia County native and a member of the First Mt. Carmel Baptist Church.

Survivors are two sons, Willie L. (Gussie) Cummings of Appling, John A. Cummings of Thomson; three sisters, Mrs. Willie Mae Benning of Harlem, Mrs. Estella Bailey and Mrs. Eunice Brown of Appling; two brothers, Virgil Crawford of Baltimore, Md., Blanchard (Beatrice) Crawford, Jr. of Appling; three stepchildren, Claude Rickerson, Lucille Holliman, Larry Cummings; grandchildren, great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

Thomson Funeral System was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Dorothy M. Ennis
THOMSON, Ga.- Mrs. Dorothy M. Ennis, 78, widow of Mr. Luther Ennis of Cobbham Road, died Sunday, October 31, 2004 in St. Joseph Hospital in Augusta.
Graveside services were held at 4 p.m. Monday, November 1, 2004 in the Thomson Memorial Cemetery with Rev. Katie Strals officiating.

Mrs. Ennis was a native of Richmond County, but had lived in Thomson for many years. She was a co-owner and founder of the Town & County Packing Company in Thomson and a member of the Young Memorial United Methodist Church.

She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Lamar and Carol Ennis, Thomson, Charlie and Kay Ennis, Warrenton; six grandchildren, Angie Reese, Marcie Guy, Larry Ennis, Jody Ennis, Melissa Grant and Christina Anderson; eight great-grandchildren and three caregivers, Marilyn Randall, Mary Kitchens and Priscilla Smith.

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to the St. Joseph Inpatient Hospice at 2260 Wrightsboro Road, Augusta , Ga. 30904.

Ms. Bridgett T. Espinoza
WRENS, Ga.- Funeral services for Bridgett T. Espinoza, 22, Wrens who died Friday, October 29, 2004 were conducted Tuesday, November 2, 2004 at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, Louisville, Ga. at 2 p.m., Father Larry Goulding, officiating. Interment was in Mt. Aldred C.M.E. Church in Warren County.
Survivors include her husband Hector Espinoza; two sons Jose H. Espinoza and Hector Espinoza, Jr. of Wrens; father, Oliver McNair of Glascock County; stepfather, Glen Pearson, Thomson; two sisters Roshanda Norris and Katrina Burnett both of Dearing; one brother, Chris Pearson, Thomson, grandparents, Iola McNair, Glascock County and Henry McNair, Dearing; great-grandmother Beatrice Casey, Thomson.

Mrs. Ida Mae Gay

APPLING, Ga.- Mrs. Ida Mae Gay, 92, widow of B. G. Gay, of Appling, died Wednesday, October 27, 2004 in Doctors Hospital.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, October 30, in the Silver Run Baptist Church with the Rev. John McMillian and Jerry Pittman officiating. Burial was in the Harlem City Cemetery.

Mrs. Gay was a native of McDuffie County, but had lived in Appling for many years. She was retired from the Thomson Company after 40 years of service and also worked at Neals BBQ in Harlem. She was a member of the Silver Run Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Frances Allen.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Homer and Ellen Gay, Appling; two sisters, Myrtle Morris, Harlem, Eva Mae Williams, Dearing; her brother, Clifford Miles, Harlem; her grandson, Pete Allen, Harlem and her granddaughter, Delores Kitchens, Gibson.

Pallbearers were Tim Edwards, Ray Miles, Kevin Allen, Dan Allen, Randy Frost and James Kitchens.

Donations may be made to the Silver Run Baptist Church.

Mrs. Victoria C. Gunter
AUGUSTA, Ga.- Mrs. Victoria C. Gunter of Nanette Drive entered into rest Saturday, October 30, 2004 at Medical College of Georgia. Funeral arrangements will be announced later.
Survivors are her husband, Ralph Gunter, Sr.; one son, Ralph Gunter, Jr., Augusta; two daughters, Valeri Gunter, Cora Gunter, Augusta; mother, Annie Davis, Augusta; one sister, Corretta Carpenter, Augusta; one brother, Willie Davis, Jr., Augusta; mother-in-law, Mamie Brooks, Thomson; father-in-law, Roosevelt Gunter, Augusta; and other relatives.

Mr. Roger Harris
WARRENTON, Ga.- Funeral service for Mr. Roger Harris, 75, of Warrenton, were held on Sunday, October 31, 2004, at 2:30 p.m. at the Sardis Baptist Church, Sharon, Ga. Rev. W.R. Ferrell, Pastor, officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery.
Survivors are devoted wife, Mrs. Lucille Harris, one son, Melvin (Shirley) Williams and four grandchildren, all of Warrenton; two sisters, Lillie Ferrell, Washington; and Annie Mae Burley of Columbus, Ohio; one brother, Henry Harris, Columbus, Ohio; four stepdaughters, five stepsons and a host of in-laws, relatives and friends.

Mrs. Louise Hinton
THOMSON, Ga.- Mrs. Louise Hinton, 83, widow of Mr. Mike Hinton Sr., of Thomson, died Friday, October 29, 2004, in the McDuffie Regional Medical Center.
Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, October 31, in the Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens with Rev. Mike Sutphin officiating.

Mrs. Hinton was a native of Burke County, but had lived in Thomson for many years. She was a homemaker and a member of the Whiteoak United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her son, Mike Hinton Jr. and is survived by two daughters, Joyce Lokey, Dearing and Betty Jean Jones, Thomson; a sister, Ruth Chastain, Thomson; two brothers, David Gay, Blackshear and Felton Gay, Jacksonville, Fla.; and six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Pete Lokey, Dean McCoy, Tommy Jones, Leslie Farmer, Mike Hinton and Gary Williams.
