Mrs. Estelle Quinn Crenshaw
THOMSON, Ga.- Funeral service for Mrs. Estelle Quinn Crenshaw, 101, of Thomson, was held on Sunday, January 30, 2005, at 1 p.m. at The Bookers Chapel Baptist Church, Washington, Ga. Rev. Dantae Smith, officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery.
Survivors are a daughter, Katie Ramsey, Philadelphia, Penn.; a son, Raymond Crenshaw, Atlanta; a special and devoted granddaughter reared as a daughter, Mrs. Genola Cobb, 23 grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren, 46 great-great-grandchildren, two daughters-in-law; Mary Parks, Charleston, S.C.; and Dorothy Crenshaw of Atlanta; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Thomson Funeral System was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. William Thomas (Bill) Davis

WARRENTON, Ga.- Mr. William Thomas (Bill) Davis, 82, beloved husband of Mrs. Inez Usry Davis, of Warrenton, entered into rest Saturday, January 22, 2005, at McDuffie Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 25, 2005 at Lowe Funeral Home, with Rev. Allen Holbrook officiating. Burial followed at Sallie Hill Cemetery, Warrenton.

Mr. Davis was native of Warren County. Big Bill, as he was known in those days, was manager of the Veterans Club from January 16, 1953 until January 1, 1996 retiring because of his health. He was also a member of Warrenton First Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife Inez U. Davis; two daughters Sharon Lynn Greaves, Martinez, and Debra C. Norris, Thomson; one brother Bob Davis Aiken, SC; one sister, Vally McDonald, Warrenton; and three grandchildren: Stephen Norris, Kacey Norris, and Taylor Norris.

Pallbearers were Ray McDonald, Johnny Davis, Robert Polk, William Wood, Terry Johnson, Jim McMichael, Colen Todd, and Bobby Newsome. Honorary pallbearers were Warren DeBeaugrine, Warren Jackson, Benny McGahee, Horace Mayo, Joe Peebles, Gene Rabun, and Al Wheeler.

Lowe Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Nellie P. Freeman
APPLING, Ga.- Mrs. Nellie P. Freeman, 91, of Appling, died January 23, 2005.
Sharing her beautiful memories are son, Percy (Jennie Bell) C. Kidd, Sr.; three sisters, Mrs. Lueeril (Deacon Thomas) Willingham, Appling, Mrs. Cora Jane (Rev. Stanford) Shanks, Mrs. Queen Lewis, both of Thomson; one brother, J.C. Ramsey, Dearing; two sisters-on-law, Adell Ramsey, Appling, Ollie Mae Ramsey, Augusta; one daughter-in-law, Jonnie Mae Kidd and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Saturday, January 29, 2005 at 1:30 p.m. at Poplar Springs Baptist Church.

Crawford-Pinkston-Roberts Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Mary Julia Dixon Glass
SPARTA, Ga.- Mrs. Mary Julia Dixon Glass of Sparta, died Tuesday, January 25, 2005.
She leaves to cherish her memories four children, Mr. James Henry (Wanda) Tyus from Wesley Chapel, Fla.; Mr. James Nathanel (Jackie) Tyus from Kathleen, Ga.; Mrs. Rosa Mary (Henry L.) Robinson and Mrs. Geraldine (Charles) Boone of Sparta, three sisters, Ms. Willie Dale Dixon, Mrs. Melvina Dixon Rogers, Mrs. Marion Bernice Gray and two brothers, Mr. Clarence (Leola) Dixon, Jr. and Mr. Robert Dixon; a mother-in-law, Mrs. Rosa Grant; two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Phyllis Dixon and Mrs. Vivian Dixon, nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren and a host of loving nieces, 14 nephews, seven cousins and other relatives and friends; Mrs. Glass very dear friends of Atlanta, Geraldine Womble, Juanita Mapp and Ethel Brown.

Funeral services were held Sunday, January 30, 2005, 1 p.m. at Springfield Baptist Church, Sparta, Ga.; Rev. Felton Poole, pastor. Interment was in Dixon Memorial Garden Cemetery, Sparta.

Mrs. Florence R. Hokrein
THOMSON, Ga.- Mrs. Florence R. Hokrein of Thomson, entered into rest January 24, 2005 at her residence . She was the beloved wife of Howard J. Hokrein.
Survivors include her husband, Howard J. Hokrein, Thomson; sons, Dale Hokrein (Nancy),Tampa, Fla. and Glen Hokrein (Karen), Thomson; daughters, Donna Bates (John), Chatsworth, Ga.; brothers, Hank Gorski (Mary), Mannville, N. J. and Peter Gorski (Barbara), Cocoa Beach, Fla.; sisters, Loraine Sian (Louis), Finderne, N. J. and seven grandchildren, Olivia Hokrein, Emily Hokrein, Anna Hokrein, Logan Bates, Evan Hokrein, Jessica Hokrein and Sarah Beth Bates

Mrs. Hokrein was born in Findern, N. J. lived in Dover, N. J. and lived in Thomson for the past 29 years. She was retired as a teacher from Norris Elementary School in Thomson and Briarwood Academy. Mrs. Hokrein was a member Thomson Presbyterian Church.

Funeral services were held at 11 AM Friday, Januray 28, 2005 at Thomson Presbyterian Church with Rev. John Cook officiating. Interment followed in Westview Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Ken Usry, Tommy Samuels, Bob Eick, Ed Henderson, Bob Gibson, John Colberg and Larry Montgomery.

Memorials may be made to the Thomson Presbyterian Church Mission Ministry or the Youth Ministry.

Mrs. Helen Norris Johnson

CAMAK, Ga.- Mrs. Helen Norris Johnson, 85, beloved wife of the late Mr. James B. Johnson of N. Baker St. died Wednesday January 26, 2005 at the Warrenton Health & Rehabilitation Center.
Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, January 28, 2005 at the Camak Methodist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Susan P. Barnes officiating.

Mrs. Johnson was a native and lifelong resident of Warren County. She was a homemaker and member of Prospect United Methodist Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Shirley J. (Jimmy) Harden of Warrenton; three sisters, Allene McCord, Camak, Hazel Johnson, Warrenton, and Mabel Coleman, Thomson; one granddaughter, Tracy H. (Jody) Mitchem, Monroe, and two great grandchildren, Avery and Logan Mitchem.

Pallbearers were Steve Cooper, Al Sikes, Johnny Norris, Bobby Bellamy, Bobby Dunaway, Andy McCord, and Lamar Guy.

Lowe Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Mamie G. Lamkin
THOMSON, Ga.- Mrs. Mamie G. Lamkin entered into eternal rest at the McDuffie Regional Medical Center, Thomson, on January 24, 2005.
She was a member of Friendship Baptist Church in Appling, where Rev. Dr. Phillip Dunstan is the pastor.

She is survived by four sons, Francis, Samuel, Hogan and Robert Lamkin of Harlem, four daughters, Alisha L. Jones, Carrie Lamkin, Mamie L. Johnson and Linda L. Harvey of Augusta, and a host of grandchildren, relatives and friends.

Funeral services were conducted Saturday, January 29, 2005 at 1 p.m. from Friendship Baptist Church, Appling with Rev. Dr. Dunstan officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Peoples Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Larry Mathis
THOMSON, Ga.- Funeral services for Mr. Larry Mathis, 47, of Thomson, were held Sunday, January 30, 2005 at 12 noon at The Thomson Funeral System Chapel, Rev. Jessie Henry, officiating. Interment was in Mill Rock Baptist Church Cemetery.
Survivors are his father, Mr. Goody Mathis, eight brothers and one sister, Elbert, Goody, Jr., Fred, Harry, Joe Louis, George, Floyd, Milton and Sally Mathis all of Thomson. Thomson Funeral System was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Norma Jean Ashley McKinney

AUGUSTA, Ga.- Entered into rest on January 27, 2005, at the University Hospital, Mrs. Norma Jean Ashley McKinney, 70, of Augusta. Mrs. McKinney was the wife of the late John Robert McKinney and the daughter of the late Henry Ashley and Blanche Ashmore Ashley of Lincolnton. She was a graduate of Lincolnton High School and had attended Crossroads Holiness Church in Lincolnton.
Family members include two daughters, Nancy Ansley-McCrory of Thomson, Wanda M. Lowe and husband, Victor of Harlem; four grandchildren, Victoria Ansley, Stephen Ansley, Caroline Lowe and Robert Lowe; three step-daughters, Carolyn Clem, Sharron M. Bragg, Joyce M. Patrick; several step-grandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law, Elizabeth and Herman Thacker of Augusta and a special niece, Robin Griffin of North Augusta, S.C.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. McKinney is also predeceased by an infant son, John Ashley McKinney; a sister, Lucille Edmunds of Lincolnton and a step-son, David C. McKinney.

Graveside services were held Saturday, January 29, 2005, 2 p.m. at the McCormick City Cemetery in McCormick, South Carolina with the Rev. Cullen Hicks officiating.

Thomas Poteet and Son Funeral Directors was in charge of arrangements.

THOMSON, Ga. -- The funeral for Mrs. Mattie R. Pettett, 91, of Thomson will be held on Friday, January 28, 2005 at 2 p.m. at the Springfield Baptist Church with Rev. F.D. Favors, Pastor officiating. Interment was in Westview Cemetery.
Survivors are two grandsons, Anthony B. Petett of Palm Beach, Fla. and Broderick D. Petett of Lexington Park, MD; four sisters, Francis Anderson, Myrtis James and Mary McCullum, all of Detroit and Lula Madina of New York City; seven grandchildren and other relatives and friends.

Thomson Funeral System was in charge of arrangements.
