Robert Clay Reiff, 71

GARFIELD Funeral for Robert Clay Reiff, 71, will be held Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2002 at 1 p.m. from the Southern Heritage Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Gene Sego officiating.
He died Saturday, Jan. 12 at East Georgia Medical Center in Statesboro.
Mr. Reiff was born April 30, 1930 in New Haven, Conn. He had resided in Garfield since 1995 moving from Savannah. He was a retired truck driver and a member of the Moose Lodge and the Savannah Lions Club and was also a member of Temple Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Hilda Grimes Reiff, of Garfield; four sons Mike Reiff of Savannah, Bob Reiff of Nevada, Mo, Robert "Robbie" Reiff, Jr. of Birmingham, Ala., Timothy John Reiff of Clearwater, Fla.; three daughters, Sharon Holbrook of Ft. Collins, Colo., Elaine Case of Kansas City, Mo., Debbie Mirando of Tamarac, Fla.; nineteen grandchildren and a number of great grandchildren.
Southern Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Norman John Sanford, 74

ADRIAN Private memorial service was held for Norman John Sanford, 74, who died Friday, Jan. 11, 2002 at his residence after an extended illness.
Mr. Sanford was a native of Walker County, Ala. He was a construction worker, an army veteran of the Korean Conflict and attended Kite Church of God.
Survivors include three daughters, Susan Schoeller and Donna Shaw of Adrian, Ga. and Norma Wages of Enterprise, Fla.; one son, the Rev. Michael Sanford of Chattanooga, Tenn.; eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Peebles-Curry-Durden Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.

Cordie E. Lawson, 92

ADRIAN Funeral for Cordie E. Lawson, 92, was held Friday, Jan. 11, 2002 at 11 a.m. from Hebron Baptist Church. The Rev. Ervin Stapleton and the Rev. Herman Walden officiated.
He died Thursday, Jan. 10, at Emanuel Medical Center after an extended illness.
Mr. Lawson was a native of Emanuel County and a retired farmer. He was a deacon and former Sunday School Superintendent at Hebron Baptist Church and was husband of the late Alma Hutcheson Lawson.
Survivors include one daughter, Malvadine Youmans of Swainsboro, Ga.; one son and daughter-in-law, Buddy and Ann Lawson of Adrian, Ga.; four grandchildren, P.O. Youmans, Jr., Mike Youmans and Stan Lawson of Swainsboro, Ga. and Lori L. Sweat of Wrightsville, Ga.; and four great-grandchildren, Vanessa Youmans, Valerie Youmans, Brandon Youmans and Brooke Youmans all of Swainsboro, Ga.
Pallbearers are Billy Hutcheson, Bobby Hutcheson, Ray Hutcheson, David Hutcheson, O.C. Hutcheson, Lamar Blizzard, Elmer Blizzard and Jim Hutcheson.
Honorary Pallbearers were Ray Henry, Ricky Henry, James Peebles, Hollis Gibson, Johnny Moore, Crawford McNelly, Kenneth Henry, Carnage Meeks, Jerry Lawson and Charles Blizzard.
Peebles-Curry-Durden Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.

Charles "Ed" Seals, 66

WARNER ROBINS-Funeral for Charles "Ed" Seals, 66 was held Monday August 5 at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of McCullough Funeral Home in Warner Robins. Burial followed in Perry Memorial Gardens.
He died Saturday, August 3, at Perry Hospital.
Mr. Seals was born the son of Estus and Geneva Seals in Laurens County. He was retired from American General where he had been an Insurance Sales Manager. He was a member of Andrew United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Seals of Perry; a daughter, Marsha S. Cumbass of Douglas; a son, Danny J. Seals of Perry; and several grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
McCullough Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

Joni Marie O'Shaughnessy, 43

TYBEE ISLAND--Funeral for Joni Marie O'Shaughnessy, 43, was held Monday, Aug. 5, 2002 at 5 p.m. at Twin City Cemetery.
She died Thursday. Aug. 1, 2002 at her home.
Mrs. O' Shaughnessy was born in Savannah and was the daughter of Rebecca Lee Hodges Crawford and the late Philip Leon Burgess.
Survivors include her husband, Dr. C. Owen O'Shaughnessy of Tybee Island; her mother and stepfather, Rebecca Lee Hodges Crawford and Zachary Crawford of Twin City; two sisters, Keturah Lee Hawkins of Summerville, S.C. and Bonnie Celeste Shumpert of Charleston, S.C.; one brother, Philip Walter Burgess of Savannah; her grandmother, Keturah Hodges of Richmond Hill; two nieces; three nephews; and a number of aunts, uncles and cousins. In addition to her father, Joni was preceded in death by her grandparents, Walter Milton Burgess, Mamie Burgess and Rufus L. Hodges.
Sipple Mortuary and Crematory Funeral Directors had charge of arrangements.

Samuel Matthias 'Sam' Clark, 85

LOUISVILLE--Funeral for Samuel Matthias "Sam" Clark, 85, was held Sunday, Aug. 4, 2002, at 2 p.m. from Louisville United Methodist Church. The Pastor Rev. Danny Treadway and former Pastor Rev. Emory Gilbert officiated. Interment will follow in the Louisville City Cemetery.
He died Thursday, Aug. 1, 2002 at Jefferson County Hospital.
A Louisville native, Mr. Clark was the son of the late James William and Mary Dixon Little Clark, also Louisville natives. He attended Louisville public schools and enlisted in the U.S. Army just prior to the beginning of World War II and served an extensive tour of duty in the Pacific Theater. He attended Officer Candidate School at Fort Benning in Columbus and was stationed for a short time at Camp Wheeler in Macon, but spent most of his tour in the Pacific where he was stationed at Oahu, Hawaii and saw extensive action in the Marshall Islands, Einewetok, Saipan and Okinawa. He was discharged as a First Lieutenant in 1945, after receiving two Purple Hearts for valor.
Mr. Clark established and operated Clark Hardware in Louisville in 1959 and retired from that business in 1979. Prior to that, he had been an implement salesman for Whigham an Beall in Louisville.
He was a lifelong member of the Louisville United Methodist Church, where he was a member of the Barwick Sunday School Class and a former member of the church board. He was a former member of the Jefferson County School Board and a former member of the Louisville V.F.W. Post.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Eugenia "Gene" Lee Launius Clark, formerly of Monroe; three sons Samuel "Sam" M. Clark, Jr. of Louisville; J. Dennie Clark of Martinez; E. Lee Clark of Martinez; one sister Mrs. Robert Casper Walker of Tifton; one brother Frank Fleming Clark of Glendale Nursing Home in Wadley; and eight grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Roy Hayes, John Willard Davis, Joe Cox, Dr. J.B. Polhill, Clark Hiebert and Harry Gilmore, Jr. Honorary pallbearers were members of the Barwick Sunday School Class.
Southern Heritage Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.

Lou Rhoden Quarles, 85

TWIN CITY--Funeral for Lou Rhoden Quarles was held Monday, Aug. 12, 2002, at 11 a.m. at the Twin City First Baptist Church. Elder Tommy Rountree, Reverend Gene Sego and Reverend Franklin Sasser officiated. Burial was at 4 p.m. Monday at the Eastview Cemetery in Edgefield South Carolina with Reverend Franklin Sasser officiating.
She died Saturday, Aug. 10, 2002, at the Twin View Nursing Home in Twin City after an extended illness.
Mrs. Quarles was a native of Newberry, SC and was retired from Twin City Manufacturing Co. where she was one of the co-founders and served in management until her retirement in 1977. She was a member of the Twin City First Baptist Church where she served as Sunday School Superintendent, Sunday School teacher and President of the WMU. She was also a member of the Eastern Star 231.
Survivors include her husband J. Howard Quarles of Twin City and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Johnny Whetsell, Dal Durden, Bill Mathis, Loy D. Cowart, Jr., G.W. Johnson and Thomas Simmons.
Peebles-Curry-Durden of Swainsboro had charge of arrangements.
