Leamon Holden, 72

TWIN CITY--Funeral for Leamon Holden, 72, was held Friday, Aug. 23, 2002, at 11 a.m. in the Peebles-Curry-Durden Mortuary chapel with Rev. Gene Sego officiating. Burial was at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Dellwood.
He died Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2002, at Johnson County Nursing Home in Scott after an extended illness.
Mr. Holden was a native of Horry County, S.C. He was employed with Emanuel County Road Maintenance Dept. He was a logger and of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his wife, Alma Kersey Holden of Twin City; two daughters, Faye Clayton and Brenda Jackson, both of Kite; four sons, Larry Holden of Marion S.C., Dennis Holden of Twin City, Danny Holden and Michael Holden, both of Swainsboro; one brother, Ottis Holden of Conway, S.C.; 19 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Denny Holden, Chad Holden, Andy Holden, Tim Holden, Bradley Holden, Michael Holden, Russell Hughes and Wendell Hughes.
Peebles-Curry-Durden Mortuary had charge of arrangements.

Susie Smith Long, 68

ELGIN--Funeral for Susie Mae Long, 68, was held Friday, Aug. 23, 2002, at 11 a.m. at Shives Funeral Home Colonial Chapel. The Rev. Thomas A. Caldwell officiated. Burial followed in Elmwood Cemetery.
She died Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2002, at her residence.
She was born in Swainsboro to the late Samuel and Ouida Mae Lowman Smith. She attended Beacon Baptist Church of Lexington, S.C.
Survivors include her husband, Lewis Long of Elgin, S.C.; three daughters, Betty Sue Donahue of Columbia, S.C., Sherri M. Randall Edwards of Macon and Teresa D. Holsomback; two sons, Joseph A. Randall and Joel A. Randall of Elgin, S.C.; two sisters, Lillian Smith Thompson of Swainsboro and Royena Smith of West Columbia, S.C.; one brother, Benny Ray "Buddy" Lowman of Long Island, N.Y.; and 11 grandchildren.
Mrs. Long was predeceased by a brother, Wallace E. Smith.
Shives Funeral Home of Columbia, S.C. had charge of arrangements.

James Felton Williams, 19

KITE--Funeral for James Felton Williams, 19, was held Monday Aug. 26, 2002, at 11 a.m. at Peebles-Curry-Durden Mortuary Chapel with the Rev. Allen Meeks officiating. Burial was at Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery near Kite.
He died Saturday, Aug. 24, 2002, at Emanuel Medical Center.
Mr. Williams was a native of Emanuel County and was employed at Larry's Paint and Body Shop. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Felton Williams.
Survivors include his parents, Larry and Connie Williams of Kite; one sister, Laura Williams of Kite; three brothers, Willis Williams, Shon Williams, and Paul Williams, all of Kite; and a grandmother, Geneva Williams of Kite.
Pallbearers were Casey Williford, Everett Flanders, Cameron Williford, Larry Bell, Johnny Newsome, and Shon Williams.
Peebles-Curry-Durden Mortuary had charge of arrangements.

Albert Jerry Wilkerson Sr., 76

SWAINSBORO--Funeral for Albert Jerry Wilkerson Sr., 76, was held Friday, Aug. 30, 2002, at 3 p.m. at Southern Heritage Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Allen Meeks officiating. Burial was at Swainsboro City Cemetery with military honors.
He died Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2002, at Emanuel Medical Center.
Mr. Wilkerson was born in Jefferson County and lived most of his life in Emanuel County. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and the Korean Conflict. He was also a retired truck driver, carpenter and of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include five sons, William A Wilkerson and Albert Tyrone Wilkerson of Savannah, Gary Steven Wilkerson of Twin City, Louis Patrick Wilkerson of Milledgeville and Albert Jerry Wilkerson Jr. of Sparta; two daughters, Rita Faye Johnson of Sparta and Terri Wilkerson of Nunez; 13 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Southern Heritage Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.

Robbie Lee Pullen, 76

POOLER--Funeral for Robbie Lee Pullen, 76, was held Thursday, Aug. 29, 2002, at 1 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Pooler. Burial was at Hillcrest Abbey West Cemetery.
He died Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2002, at his home.
Mr. Pullen was born in Adrian and lived in Pooler since 1958. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Pooler where he was Deacon from 1980-1999 and Deacon Emeritus from 1999 until his death. He was also a member of Sam Elkins Sunday school class. After retiring from Union Camp in 1988, he was employed by Rupert Heller's Pharmacy and Carter's Pharmacy. He also served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Lou Pullen of Pooler; two daughters, Robin Stewart and Joyce Edge, both of Pooler; three sisters, Josephine Reynolds of Columbus, Leslie Santarcangelo and Mary Snyder, both of Palm Bay, Fla.; one brother, Blake Pullen of Adrian; one granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.
Thomas C. Strickland & Sons Funeral Home West Chatham Chapel of Pooler had charge of arrangements.

John W. Wall Sr., 73

BEECH ISLAND, S.C.--Funeral for John W. Wall Sr., 73, was held Friday, Aug. 30. 2002, at 11 a.m. at Beech Island Baptist Church with the Rev. Frank R. Hyder officiating. Burial was at the church cemetery with military honors.
He died Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2002.
Mr. Wall was a native of Twin City and a former resident of Augusta. Beech Island, S.C. was his home for the past 35 years. He was a member of Beech Island First Baptist Church, Beech Island American Legion, Post 168 and Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 9164. He was also a U.S. Army Veteran of Korea and was retired from the Operations Department at E.I. DuPont Company at the Savannah River site.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Gail Wall; three sons, John W. Wall Jr. of Grovetown, Kenny Wall and Eddie Wall, both of Beech Island, S.C.; two daughters, Betsy Culler of Graniteville, S.C. and Terri Gibbs of Augusta; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Darryl Hattaway, Andy Anderson, Wally Coward, Eddie Andrews, Horace Harrell and Dr. Robert Collier.
Stephen D. Posey Funeral Home of North Augusta had charge of arrangements.

Lotis Barwick Woods Kersey, 87

ADRIAN--Funeral for Lotis Barwick Woods Kersey, 87, was held Saturday, Aug. 31, 2002, at 11 a.m. at Peebles-Curry-Durden Mortuary Chapel with the Rev. Cecil Ruffin and Hilda Dutrow officiating. Burial was at Sardis Cemetery near Kite.
She died Thursday, Aug. 29, 2002 at Metter Nursing Home after an extended illness.
A native of Johnson County, Mrs. Kersey was a member of Sardis Primitive Baptist Church and was retired from Emanuel County Board of Education.
Survivors include one daughter, Mary Woods Hall of Swainsboro; four stepdaughters, Hilda Dutrow, Faye Hunter and Sandra Turner Boyd, all of Statesboro, and Winnette Moore of Adrian; two stepsons, William Emory Kersey of Greensboro, N.C. and Thomas Kersey of Brooklet and two grandsons.
Pallbearers were Don Brown, Jackie Minton, Phillip Braswell, J.R. Woods, Elmer Blizzard, John Jones, Jim Bo Hutcheson and Danny Palmer.
Peebles-Curry-Durden Mortuary had charge of arrangements.

Laura Lee Hart, 90

OAK PARK--Funeral for Laura Lee Hart, 90, was held Saturday, Aug. 31, 2002, at 2 p.m. at Ronnie L. Stewart Family Funeral Service Chapel in Vidalia. The Rev. Clint Hutcheson officiated. Burial followed at Oak Park City Cemetery.
She died Thursday, Aug. 29, 2002, at Bethany Nursing Home after a brief illness.
Mrs. Hart was a native of Alabama and resided most of her life in Jacksonville, Fla. She was a housewife and member of Frazier Memorial Baptist Church in Jacksonville, Fla.
Survivors include two daughters, Joyce Morris and Mary Jo Dismuke, both of Oak Park; 10 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Active pallbearers were Troy Lee Morris, Donald Morris, Tony Morris, Phillip Phillips, Tony Dismuke, and Chuck Shaw. Honorary pallbearers were Royce Dismuke, Danny Dismuke, Gerald Dismuke, Mickey Lindsey, and Larry Wilson.
Ronnie L. Stewart Family Funeral Service of Vidalia had charge of arrangements.

Mary Hannah Roberts, 81

SWAINSBORO--Funeral for Mary Hannah Roberts, 81, was held Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2002, at 11 a.m. at Tomlinson Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Allen Meeks officiated. Burial followed at Dublin Memorial Gardens in Dublin.
She died Sunday, Sept. 1, 2002, at Swainsboro Nursing Home after an extended illness.
Mrs. Roberts was a native of Jefferson County and lived in Wadley most of her life. She was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Roberts.
Survivors include one daughter, Joyce Henry of Swainsboro; three sons, Wayne Roberts of Waterfall, Pa., Raymond Roberts of Dublin and Glenn Roberts of Midville; one sister, Ann Duncan of Lithia Springs; nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Tomlinson Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.

Alma S. Holden, 81

TWIN CITY--Funeral for Alma S. Holden, 81, will be held Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2002, at 3 p.m. at Peebles-Curry-Durden Mortuary Chapel with the Rev. Gene Sego and Elder Aaron Kersey officiating. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Dellwood.
She died Sunday, Sept. 1, 2002, at Johnson County Nursing Home in Scott after an extended illness.
A native of Emanuel County, Mrs. Holden was retired from Keller Ladder Industries of Swainsboro.
Survivors include two stepdaughters, Faye Clayton and Brenda Jackson, both of Kite; four stepsons, Larry Holden of Marion, S.C., Dennis Holden of Twin City, Danny Holden and Michael Holden, both of Swainsboro; one brother, Kenneth Kersey of Edgewater, Fla.; one grandchild; three great-grandchildren; 20 stepgrandchildren and 26 step-greatgrandchildren.
Pallbearers are Daniel Herring, Larry Holden, Dennis Holden, Danny Holden, Michael Holden and Mick Kersey.
Peebles-Curry-Durden Mortuary has charge of arrangements.
